Same-day and weekend availability confirmed in 6+ reviews; arrived within the hour for sewage flood emergency per reviewer Sandra Meister.

Our basement flooded with several inches of pure sewage. Roto Rooter was there within an hour and handled everything. Renee, Rick, and Matt were all fantastic. I don't know what we would have done without them.

What reviewers report — the concerns

Other directories bury these. We think you should read them before you call. Every concern below comes from the reviews it cites.

Red flag

$500+ quote for a valve leak (part: $42); competitor completed same repair for $230 — potential price gouging cited by name.

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY! RotoRooter wanted to charge me over 500 for a valve leak. The plumber claimed the part was 42 dollars and the fix would be 480. Needless to say I was outraged at the price.
Brittany Benning · ★★★★ · Google · Apr 2026 pricing

Red flag

Yelp 1-star: cut 12" hole in wall for $1,390, toilet still didn't work, then quoted $15,000 for excavation with no construction cleanup offered.

Cited in 1 of the 93 reviews we analyzed.

Booking/dispatch inconsistent: at least one reviewer had to rebook after tech didn't show up during original window.

Did a great job and very professional. I will say that the booking / dispatch was problematic, as they couldn't get the times right and we had to rebook when they didn't show up
Joe F Dolder · ★★★★★ · Google · Feb 2026 reliability

Pricing runs high — one reviewer called it 'incredibly overpriced'; another was quoted $500 for a valve leak fixed by a competitor for $230.

The evidence — in reviewers' own words

Critical

if I could give them a 0, I would. Had them come out to snake our sewer. They convinced us we had a crack in the sewer and needed a section of it replaced right away. They put the sewer clean out up against our driveway, and didn't backfill properly. The driveway started sinking and Roto Rootet refused to take responsibility for the lousy job they did backfillin. They also wouldn't move the clean out although the …

We called roto rooter because our toilet stopped working on a Sunday. They are a 24/7 service. They cut a 12in square hole in my bathroom wall behind the toilet to replace a pipe. That cost us 1,390$ What's that you say, it still doesn't work? If you really want it to work then that will be about 15,000$ ( including tax). Because we will have to excavate under your concrete front porch and replace another pipe …
April L. · ★★★★ · Yelp · Sep 2021
I will never call Roto Rooter again. Buyer beware. Whatever problem you may be facing, you'll be lied to and it's possible the company may actually intentionally cause more damage to your property in other to have anything to fix. As soon as you ask for an itemized estimate for whatever $5k-$15k repair they claim you need, all the vultures flying around your money, who initially said they could start service "same …

Rene was wonderful! I'm grateful to him for coming out on such short notice and so late in the evening! He was patient and kind and very knowledgeable. He explained everything to me and educated me on plumbing! If I could request him everytime I need help I would! Thank you Rene and Roto Rooter for hiring good quality staff.
Kendra Vander Weit · ★★★★★ · Google · Mar 2026
Rene did excellent work. He was clear on the scope of the repair and went above and beyond with keeping us updated on any issues that cropped up. Very professional and knowledgeable. Great work and would request him again for any future needs.

How this page is made. We read and synthesize published customer reviews from Google, Yelp and the BBB, then publish our honest opinion — including the negative reviews other directories bury. We do notcall, test, or inspect plumbers, and we don't check licenses unless a source is stated. Business facts come from the plumber's Google listing. Sponsored placement exists only on city list pages, is always labeled, and never changes an assessment or ranking — this profile is never pay-influenced. Every quote is reproduced verbatim from a public review and attributed; we choose which quotes to feature, and that selection is our editorial judgment.
