Contacted Roto Rooter when I lost the contact info from another company, who had given me an estimate for some cast-iron pipe sewer work on my home. To begin, Mike & Jonathan showed up on time, were very courteous, answered all my questions, & addressed my concerns without taking offense. When they actually looked at the issue, they found a completely different situation than what the previous company said. They took their time and spend several hours diagnosing & finding the right repair option. I have no doubt that the previous company did not know where they were talking about. I am happy I was not able to locate their information. Mike & Jonathan were transparent & openly discussed several repair options in an attempt to save me money. We decided on one that worked best, considering my split level home and the way that my waterlines are set up. They struck me as having a lot of pride in their work, being quite honest, and very professional. So in the end, I will be going with them over anyone else because of this fact and that their work is also guaranteed. Not everything that is cheaper is bette…I highly recommend 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

We have had problems with clogs and slow drains in our basement bathroom for the past few years but other plumbing fixtures in our house were perfectly fine. Other plumbers have repeatedly plunged and snaked, but our problems have always returned within a few weeks. Enter Vince from Roto Rooter. He asked very intelligent diagnostic questions about exactly what we were experiencing, and immediately pinpointed a sewage backup valve sunk in our basement slab. He explained how a normally protective flapper in the valve can break down and collect debris. Sure enough, when he disassembled the valve, all manner of debris and backed up sewage came spewing out. Turns out the other plumbers probably even damaged the valve further as they crudely snaked the lines. He gave us a less expensive option to try to rebuild the 34 year old valve, or a reasonable price to replace it. With the repeated problems we've had, we opted to fix it right and replace it. Vince was very polite and conscientious about keeping his work area clean, especially challenging given the nature of the work. With a new valve installed and our lines verified clear with his sophisticated camera, we are now finally confident that we have the problem solved. We will be calling for Vince for any future plumbing problems we have!

The Roto Rooter team was excellent! Mike (technician) was incredible with communicating the plumbing issues and how to best resolve them. He was prompt, thorough, respectful of my home, and worked intently until the issues were resolved. Nice guy as well! I am pleased with the high quality work Mike and Roto Rooter provided and the price was very fair for such a great service. I will use Roto Rooter again if ever necessary, and would certainly recommend their service to anyone else. Definitely a 10/10.

If you want to be ripped off this is the place to go!!! I spoke to several plumbers after the repair was finished and I paid 2x more than the going rate AFTER the $40.00 coupon. One plumber suggested I call the local news immediately. It literally took one minute to fix if not less. What kind of scam is this!? I contacted management immediately, I haven't heard anything yet. Hopefully, someone contacts me soon !!! UPDATE 12/31/15 Spoke to management, the company stood by their outrageous prices. Just to let the public know, they charge $229.00 to auger a toilet PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH. Other plumbing companies that returned my phone call offered a cost of $75.00. More like 3x the going rate. STAY AWAY!!!!

Our pipe from our well pump cracked with water everywhere. Roto-rooter sent a mitigation specialist before even sending a plumber. I had to figure out how to shut the pump and water off myself. The plumber finally arrived and said he didn't have the parts and didn't have time to come back in the morning. Patiently, we worked with dispatch to have someone scheduled for first thing. When the scheduled time came and went, the new dispatcher was extremely rude and told us no one was available and she would "let us know." Roto-rooter has left us without water to a house full of children for 10 hours with the only success at stopping a major leak achieved by our own efforts. Will NEVER use Rot-Rooter again.

Scammers. That's all they are. Between my dad and I we've given Roto-Rooter our business for well over 10 years. While they've never been the cheapest plumbers by far, over the years they seemed to at least get the job done. Well, their recent visit was the last straw for me. Our sump pump in the basement had issues and was shooting water out like a waterfall. My first instinct was that there must be a hole in it. And sure enough the tech gets here and confirms and shows me that there's a hole in the hose. He gives me a verbal quote for $269 + parts (a new hose) and literally tells me "I give you no discount and we up-charge is that ok?" Honestly this is where I should've kicked him out of my home. I was confused by his discount statement especially since I mentioned nothing about one. I initially agreed to him doing the work and he gave me a blank invoice to sign. As he headed to Home Depot to get the hose I started having second thoughts because honestly something just didn't feel right. Over $300 for just a hose replacement? I priced the hoses online and the exact one that was in my basement was only $11. At this point I realize how ridiculous of a quote that is for such an easy fix and I decided I'd do it myself. So I call the main office back and ask them to contact the tech and cancel the job. They claim they spoke with him on the other line and cancelled the service. By the time I'm getting in my car about to head to Home Depot and get the hose myself the tech pulls back up in the driveway with the new hose. I explain the situation to him and he tells me that he never received a call from anyone to cancel. After explaining it to him he seems frustrated and asks me "so what's the problem". I tell him the problem is the price and I don't feel like $300 is reasonable for just a hose replacement. Then he tells me "No, no it's not just the hose, it's the pump too. The pump is dirty and not pumping properly I have to clean it out" ok....he NEVER mentioned anything about the pump until now only the hose. So at this point I agree to the job bc I'm believing he's actually going to repair the pump and not just switch out a hose for $300. Nope. I literally stand there and watch him do the "job" and he literally only changes the hose. Took him all of 5 minutes. Never once attempted to "clean" the pump/motor like he said he'd be doing. All he did was pour water into the hole where the pump is which gets it started. He literally did nothing but switch out the hoses. So of course I have an issue with this. I called Roto-Rooter and they get a manager on the line. I explain my issue and they tell me to ask the tech to call his manager so I can explain to him. The plumber gets upset and wants to argue with me and justify his price, gets more upset and storms to his car....I go back inside and finish talking to the manger on my end. They basically tell me since he's already done the "work" I have to talk to his manger on his end about it. After the tech's temper tantrum he rings my bell and hands me his phone with his manager on the line. Long story short the manager apologizes to me and chalks it up to being a language barrier (the technician had an accent) ..and offered me a $100 discount. While I do think there may have been somewhat of a disconnect in communication I also believe he 100% knew exactly wtf he was doing. The final invoice the tech shows me, he writes on there that he made adjustments to/cleaned the pump + changed the hose. When I asked him when did he exactly repair/clean the pump bc he definitely didn't do it as I watched him....he gets combative but can't answer the simple question. The reality is he didn't do crap but change a hose and charged me an insane amount for it. The $100 discount still left me with a $214 bill. Before leaving, the tech tried to make light of the situation and asked if I was happy now. I told him no I'm not. Then he says "next time I'll give you a good discount".....I told him there won't be a next time. And there absolutely won't be. Roto-Rooter and their scammy business practices will NEVER step foot in my home again. They've lost a longtime customer.

If I could have chosen 0 stars I would have. We called Roto-Rooter to come take a look at what we assumed to be a sewage leak in the line going from our house to the street. The plumber came out to look and informed us he had never seen anything like it, and that the pipe was 6 inches under ground which is not to code. He checked with his supervisor and said that because it existed before the code, he could repair it and estimated about $2400-$3,000 to replace that piece of the pipe. He told us our termite people likely hit it and that we should pass the bill along to them or sue them for damages. This turned out to be completely false. About a 45 minutes later he came back and said he could not "find the pipe." I was confused as he told me it was 6 inches underground. He told me that wasn't the pipe, he just thought it was and it ended up being "a crazy rock." I assumed he would know what a pipe looked like, but that apparently was my misconception. He said he was going to have to call a master plumber with a camera to see what was going on. We waited about another 2 hours for this. After the master plumber came, they came into the house to use the camera through the master bedroom toilet. They took the toilet off the floor to do this. They came in and out the house repeatedly tracking literal crap in with them. There were footprints on the floors and mud/crap in the bathroom as well. We had our cleaning people at our house that day and they plumber made the joke that we were "going to have to call them back." I guess this was true and it would be at our own expense. They also tracked this all over our front and back porches as well. So this ended up being additionally cleaning we had to spend remedying the issues they created. They came with masks on and practiced social distancing at first, but then proceeded to take their masks off to smoke cigarettes and left them off the remainder of the time. From then social distancing was out the window and they began to explain that our pipe had collapsed in 2 places. They explained the damages and the cost estimates to repair it while smoking cigarettes as well. When all was said and done they were estimating about over $14,215 for the total including the "service" they provided that day. When I told them we were going to look around at other estimates, they tried to convince us to use their financing options. We had to pay them just shy of $1,000 to get them to leave. Apparently this paid for them to come over and use a camera, dig a hole in our yard, drag crap all over our house, and leave. We started with a sewage leak under ground and was left with a gaping whole they dug full of actual crap. After getting 2 other quotes for around $4200, we obviously went with someone more cost effective and respectful. They replace the collapsed pipe in a day for essentially 1/3 of the cost. I would not refer Roto-Rooter to my worst enemy. Completely disappointed. It was a waste of our time and money.

Pat Swanson, Luis Crispin and Cheryl Moore did such a poor job handling a basic complaint, I have no choice but to believe they were trying to rip off my mother-in-law. I am writing this on her behalf as English is her second language, which I think Roto-Rooter may have tried to use to its advantage. On Oct. 6, Roto-Rooter came out to check her water heater and said it was a pilot light. The tech re-lit it, kindly showed her how to relight it herself and charged her $100. Two days later, she still did not have hot water. She called back. The same gentleman returned and said she needed to have her "thermo coupler" replaced. He did the job and charged $576 but gave her a rebate of $100 for the fee charged a couple days before, so a total of $476. Two days later, she remained without hot water. A new tech arrived and told her this is a common problem with the Rheem model she has. He explained the part is under warranty and she should call Rheem, which she does. Well, Rheem didn't honor its warranty, saying they had no techs available to do the work, so they mailed her the part. She called Roto-Rooter back and a tech came out and installed the part. He charged $598, and he offered a discount from the bad diagnosis a couple days beforehand. But the discount was only $248 -- which is about half of what she paid for the bad diagnosis and the part she did not need. I spoke to Cheryl Moore, who promised she would take care of it before ignoring my calls and emails for days. I then went to corporate where Pat Swanson, who said he was a liaison between the branch and customer, wrote on Nov. 17 that someone would reach out. Luis Crispin reached out to "discuss" the matter, but when I'd call back he was never in the office. I kindly left him a message explaining there was no need to discuss anything. Just send the refund. He kept playing phone tag. Finally, he left me a message saying the money had been refunded. It had not. I told him so. He left another message saying the refund had been processed, this time even sending a weird, unofficial-looking document showing a transfer back to my mother-in-law's card. It never showed up. This went on for WEEKS until January 7 when I wrote Swanson again and threatened to contact "state authorities, the Better Business Bureau, the PHCC, the state division of master plumbers, review sites and anyone else who can help get ... her money back." Only then did we get the refund. Months of wasted time and not so much as an apology. NEVER use this company.

I had Roto-Rooter come to my home to inspect for a leak. They could not find one and determined it had to be a slab leak. I followed their instructions and had their recommended service come to identify the location of the leak and mark it for repair. Once the location was marked in my guest bathroom floor, I had them come out to do the repairs. They had a hard time finding the leak and removed the toilet, sink and sink cabinet destroying the cabinet. They pressured me to have the entire home re-piped for $12,500 on top of the $8K in expenses I had already spent. They planned to do the re-piping through the ceiling which would destroy most of the walls and tile work in the kitchen. Thankfully the plumber doing the repairs found the leak and repaired it without additional damage to my home. Both the person who they had come out to remove the sink and the sink cabinet and the plumber doing the repairs stated that their management would call to schedule putting the sink back in. I received no call from them for 10 days. I called and left them messages on their website and received a call from their management stating they did not know why they did not call but would schedule someone to come out the next day to complete the work. Five minutes later, their management called back to tell me they are not responsible for fixing putting the sink or cabinet back even though they are the who did the damage. They claimed that the insurance company would get someone to do that. I reminded them that I had been paying for the repairs myself and that the insurance company is not involved. They basically said I am on the hook for finishing their work and replacing items that they damaged after two of their employees told us they would be back to finish the repairs by putting the sink back in the cabinet and connecting the sink. The manager himself had started scheduling someone to come out to do the work and apologized initially before calling back to deny any responsibility for their actions. Do not do business with Roto Rooter in Atlanta unless you want hard pressure sales pitches for work that does not need to be done and to be left with a partially completed job with additional damages they created and refuse to fix.

We had a blackwater flood in the back half of the house. I called Roto-Rooter to do the remediation. Field Supervisor Brad Wallace came to my house and made many promises that he did not keep. The top three were: 1. He promised a crew out to my house between 7:30 and 8:00 - They did not get there until after 12. Brad said his boss had called them to another job in SW Atlanta. When I talked to that boss after calling corporate, he said no, the tech had a flat and another was on the way. He would be there by 10:00 AM. He never showed. As a result I lost a contract job because I could not be to the event on time. I am paying to loose pay. 2. Brad promised they would remove all the carpet from the affected rooms, the base board and the bottom two feet of wall board as well and move the contents to my garage or any where else I wanted that was not outside. I had to fight to get them to move anything to the garage. They threw the American flag on the floor like a rag. 3. Brad gave me his cell number and told me to call if I had any concerns. When I called on these issues, he gave me a choice of letting them do the job their way or he would pull the crew and bill us for the time spent. He had no desire to work with me to either help me understand or make me happy. Three hours into the project the carpet sections that they are willing to remove are gone and a small cabinet has been removed. They have taken the position that the tile does not need to come up even though the source of the black water was, under the tile because of protocol?!?! It will be taken up because I am demanding it and for no other reason. Anything to avoid doing the job right! I am worried that I will have problems in the near future if I don't do additional work myself. I am sorry I ever heard the phrase roto-rooter. I have no confidence that they have the first clue what they are doing. I am convinced that Brad Wallace has no idea and is more interested in turning a sale than doing right by the customer. I offered the corporate customer service rep Pat Swanson the chance to respond and did not seem interested until she gets the letter I am sending her. I, like Pete F. feel violated, abused and taken advantage of.

I usually do not write reviews, whether good or bad,but I will NEVER use this company again. I called them out for a leak. At the time the tech came out, I was getting my floors rebuilt due to previous water damage, so my both bathrooms had no floors. First impression of tech was him scratching or adjusting himself as he got out the van, talking to my husband. He then asked if he could throw trash into my dumpster and after I said yes, he removed a bag of trash from the van and threw it in. My husband told him that the carpenter had seen the leak under the guest bathroom. He said ok he would check. He then went around back, came back and asked the carpenter to show him where leak was. After looking at leak, we were told that he found leak, but that we needed joints replaced. He could repair leak, but it would probably make another one because we needed pipes/joints replaced. We asked about the other side, he said it was fine, then proceeded to get materials. While he was doing that, one of the carpenters called me to show me some that there was another leak. I told tech, he stated he would chk it once he got done. Once he got done he turned on water and meter was still spinning so he had to go back in. By this time he was getting frustrated because he said his wife was calling him to see why he was still at work and he had lived in Lawrenceville and had a long drive, mind you it's around 4pm and he's been here 3 to4 hours. So he finally gets done and my husband ask about the other leak and he states that it will be an extra charge and he won't be able to do it until the next day. My husband also asked for an estimate to do other side and he said he didn't have time to write him out one and that they were an expensive company and maybe we should search for another plumber....so he left with my 2200 dollars and I still had no water! I contacted the company and once they found out I wanted to make a complaint they kept sending me to voicemail. I finally received a call from them while at work, tried to return the call which sent me to another voicemail. I left a message and still haven't heard back from them and its been almost a week and counting. I didn't have to put a star at all.

The toilet in my guest bathroom had been leaking for several days due to a crack in the tank which I was not aware of. When I finally discovered the leak, the bathroom was flooded. I called the first company that came to mind and that was my mistake! The first two gentlemen that came out advised me that it was not a plumbing issue but they could do the water removal and cleanup. They drained the tank and toilet and turned the water off. The second two young men came to do water cleanup and remove damaged floors and baseboards. A few days later, one came back to check the drying, and at some point turned the water in that bathroom back on not knowing it had not been repaired. There was also urine in the toilet. He said nothing to me about it and continued to pack the drying equipment into his truck. My instinct told me to check the bathroom because he was in there for a long period of time with the door closed, and closed the door when he came out. That's when I realized that the water was pouring out of the tank again. I truly believe that had I not gone into that bathroom he would have left and not said a word to me about it leaking again and I would not have known until it completely flooded again. When I confronted him about using the bathroom and turning the water back on he denied it and said he just flushed it because urine was in it. If that were true, why didn't he tell me that the water was leaking again when he noticed it? No one had been in that bathroom since it was drained except him and his partner. I had to tell him to go and drain the water back out of the tank before it flooded again, and the urine! He continued to deny that he had used the bathroom so I requested to speak with his manager. I explained the situation and the manager was defensive, dismissive and condescending and acted as if he was annoyed that I was bothering him with the issue. I called corporate and could only leave a voicemail and five days later, no one has returned my call. There were more issues, but this review is already too long!!! I will never use this company again nor do I recommend any one else using them.

I wish I had read their reviews before I contacted them and hired them to do a job. I deeply regret my decision to use Roto Rooter. They came out to help me figure out where I had a water leak on my property. The salesperson was not very knowledgeable, and I guided him to the location where we believed the water leak was coming from, based on my investigation. That should have been a red flag, but I moved forward with them anyway. I agreed to replace the main water line rather than repair it. They did not give me the option for the noninvasive procedure. They said their only option was to dig up the yard. I later found out that this was not the only option. To summarize, they were hired on February 5th. Their excavator person dug up corrugated pipes that were in the ground, designed to help water run away from the house. After they completed the work, water began to seep into the basement. Furthermore, they proceeded to damage the irrigation system and remove the regulator that controls the water flow, turning it on and off between uses. They turned the water meter off instead of fixing the things they had broken. I have had to spend thousands of dollars to repair the damages they caused from their work, and they refuse to compensate me or refund any of the $6,300 I paid them for their work. They also do not communicate or respond in a timely fashion, so it has taken me weeks to try and get anything done. The original person who came to my house stopped responding to me altogether. This has been a terrible experience, and I strongly recommend that you continue searching for another company.

I needed some work done quick and this company was able to come out and take care of it. The guy that came out took a look at my home and started throwing out outrageous prices for work sooo I just shut up and focused on what I needed done at the moment. Which was a sinkhole pipe that extended outside cut a capped. He quoted me 200$ I smiled and said ok. Took about 5 min. So he wrote bill up and I mentioned that the office told me if I gave 2 can goods it would take 75$ off my bill. The gentlemen looked shocked that I knew anything about this. He explained to me that this didn't qualify for that if he had done a major job like a toilet or PRV it could apply which he told me cost (PRV 900$) hmmm. So I said ok and paid him. I was curious so I called the main office and they explained to me that the work I had done did qualify there were not sure why he said that . I was told they would contact him and find out why and I would receive w call back. So when I gat the call back I was told he explained that the job was really almost 400$ and he took off the 75$ that's why it was 200$. So my response was that he was lying first why is the total not on receipt showing the 75$ deduction. Second why explain to me that my job did not qualify for the 75$ off. Then you make up such a lie when none of the paperwork or conversation match. Is sad that some companies have employees with no honesty and integrity. I will never use this company again and hopefully anyone reading this will it either. I would like to say thank you to the office manager Darlene for her professionalism and great customer service.

My rating is 100% based on price. I had a clogged drain due to a garbage disposal that needed to be reset. I informed the tech what had happened and that it should be a simple job, but I just wasn't sure how to repair myself. He quoted me $350 which I assumed was bc he saw a bigger problem than I did, so I hesitantly signed the form. He was done in about 10 min and it actually took longer to write up the invoice than it did to do the repair. After I asked for some negotiation on price, he explained that it would've been the same price even if the repair had taken hours. They charge by the call not the difficulty or time of the service. He offered me a $60 discount bc I think he even felt guilty charging me almost $400 for the simplest of jobs (but kept explaining it's company policy and not up to his discretion). So for a grand total of $333 I was left with an unclogged drain and a sick-to-my-stomach feeling that has remained until this morning while I write this review. Beware, don't use this company for simple jobs or better yet, just find a local company who doesn't try and get away with hwy robbery! I know I won't make this mistake again. After looking at other reviews, I see this is company to standard to rip people off. I hope you are reading this review BEFORE contacting them instead of AFTER as you write your own 1-star review (which has nothing to do with service or quality of work but simply bc of the outrageous pricing) My boyfriend also informed me we could have replaced our own disposal system 4x for the price of using Roto-Rooter.
