Matt Omilion did an incredible job replacing our water heater. Despite their estimate service being down for over an hour, he stayed late and ensured the job was done properly. He was very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions that I had. He brought several items up to code - such as adding a shut off valve to the pipe feeding the heater. He thoroughly checked for leaks and provided us with a high level of confidence in reliability and safety. We would definitely hire Mr. Rooter (and Matt) for plumbing related issues again in the future. Thank you!
My experience with Mr. Rooter was a pleasant one. They came out fast and gave me a quote. Very professional! I appreciate how they made me feel like a priority.
Called on a Saturday to set up and appointment to have my garbage disposal services as it stopped working. I was shocked when they said they had an appointment later that morning. I loved that they sent me an email with a picture of the plumber before he came and called to let me know when he was on his way. Mike was fantastic and tried to fix it but In the end, we had to replace it. It was done in no time and was happy about the price. Next time I need a plumber I'll call Mr Rooter!
I called Mr. Rooter on 12/28/25 and advised them that I needed a technician to come out same day. I had to shut the water off to my house to change a Moen shower faucet cartridge. The cartridge was stuck and would not come out. Mr. Rooter showed up around 6 pm. He spent no more than an hour. He said the cartridge was fixed and asked me to turn the water on only to tell me to immediately turn off the water. He said he installed the cartridge upside down. He later said he corrected the problem. I asked him is any water dripping from the spout. He said no. He turned the water on quick and turned it off. The water some water coming out of the spout, but I assumed that was from the technician just turning off the water. He immediately left. I went upstairs into the bathroom and watched a steady flow of water coming from the spout. I called Mr. Rooter about 2 to 3 minutes after the technician left. I was wanting the technician to turn around and fix the problem he created. Customer service said he cannot turn around and I would have to wait until 8 am to 12 pm the following day even though they advertise they are 24/7 service. All she kept doing was apologizing like some AI operator. So, I paid $370.00 (with a senior discount) for work that made the situation worse. I uploaded a video so you can see how much water is leaking. It is not a drip; it is a flow. I would shut the water off to my house, but family members need access to the bathroom and water. I'm sure this will jack up my water bill on top of getting ripped off. I thought Mr. Rooter had a good reputation. I tried uploading a video put this review put out by Mr. Rooter would allow me. So, I several pictures and they uploaded them. Not ask good as video, but the pictures show the constant flow of water.
We called them to look at our hot water tank that had possible damage due to a sewage backup that happened in our basement. Within minutes of looking at it, the plumber said it wasn't fixable. He didn't even try to assess if there was any water damage. Then, to make it even worse, quoted us $1900 to replace it and said our current setup wasn't up to code (which is a lie).
MR ROOTER TRIES TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOUNG FAMILIES IN WILLOWICK. My husband and I had food and water backing up in our basement when running the dish washer and using our kitchen sink. We called Mr. Rooter last Sunday for a free estimate and were told we needed a new sewer line replacement. After being convinced that they needed to snake and jet our main line that day we were told if it happens again we need to immediately have our main line replaced or it could end up collapsing. Last night we figured out ourselves that it was not the main sewer line that was backing up like Mr. Rooter tried to convince us but the piping in our kitchen that had a clog. After dinner I ran our dish washer and noticed water again coming up in our basement, my husband and I agreed that this did not make sense, since Mr. Rooter had just snaked and jetted where they said the issue was coming from 4 days prior. We tested our toilets, shower and bathroom sinks and were not experiencing this issue. I called Mr. Rooter again last night and said I felt we were being taken advantage of and they were not being honest. A different supervisor was sent out to our house and agreed it was not the main line that was causing our problem but grease in our kitchen pipe. If we were given accurate information and not scared into having our main line jetted this is something we could have handled ourselves. Instead were robbed by Mr. Rooter and paid just under $1000 to "fix" what we were convinced was a much bigger issue. Bill Spreitzer was sent to our house before anything was looked at. I later found out that Bill reports directly to Steve Kelly who is the Excavation Specialist for Mr. Rooter. Before anything was looked at Mr. Rooter decided they wanted to sell my family a $7,000 new main sewer line and dig out our front yard instead of being an honest company and finding the real issue we were experiencing. When we expressed concern about affording such a big unexpected expensive Bill gave us his spiel on their financing program. Bill and a technician were at our home for hours pushing and convincing us we had this huge expense coming up. Instead of testing the pipes and checking our kitchen like professionals should, Bill wrote in our notes that we were having a problem when running our clothes washer, which is not true. We even laughed about our dog trying to snack on the food coming up in the basement. I'm not sure about anyone else but I do not keep food in our washer and dryer. It is well known that houses in the Willowick area have clay pipes and were built in the 50's. Of course there will be some cracking, this does not mean they need replaced immediately or that it is causing a problem in your home. Mr. Rooter targets young families who they think do not know better and uses this as a business strategy to get as much money out of you as they can. They try to take advantage of our community by scaring their customer into thinking they need a new sewer line. Bill told us after we were convinced that we needed to have our main line snaked and jetted that if it backed up again we needed to have it replaced quickly because it could collapse. Of course Mr. Rooter knew it would back up again because they did not fix the real problem in the first place. Do not let this company lie and take advantage of your family like that did ours.
Actually I was a little disappointed....But first I will start with what I thought was good! I called as most people do because I had a blocked sewer, and water was backing up into my bathroom and going down my basement stairs. I needed someone right away. When I called they gave me a time of about 2-3 hrs I said okay, what could I do? they actually called back and said someone would be there with in the hour...okay better! That's the good part....when the first person got there he assessed the problem, and then gave me a price of $850.00 to snake the drain...needless to to say I was appalled, I said that's ridiculous, I can't afford that, you advertising says that a sewer cleaning is $189.00, He tells me its because they can not find my clean-out from out side the house, and the clean-out inside the house was very high and it will be harder to do. So I say when I had this problems a few years ago it was about $400.00 the and I though that was high, I guess I was going to have to try and find someone else. He then said well with coupons and such I can probably get it down to $600.00, I still though it was to high and even though I felt as though I was being taken advantage of, cause I was at their mercy...I had no choice but to say go ahead. So they did what needed to do to fix it at that point. Then after a while they asked me to come down to the basement, to show me what the camera that they do ( at no extra cost, LOL yea right! ) was showing. That I had a broken pipe and it needed to be repaired...So with that said, I asked how much will that cost? the guy tells me what they will do and it will cost $5000.00 plus they will have to dig up part of my driveway to fix it and everything will be put back, but they are not responsible for fixing the driveway...so I would have to call a Driveway person to do that... probably at minimum of another couple of thousand dollars ( not their words mine) So long story short...I feel like i was taken advantage of, A.) because I was tat their mercy, and B.) because I am a Senior, which we all know the number one person that gets taken advantage of. Well they did fix the problem temporarily, with out any grantee of course, because I still need to get the real problem fixed... So it cost me $600.00 to tell me that I will have to spend $5000.00 or more.... I'm not sure if I'll use them or someone else... I just DON'T trust anyone anymore!
I used Mr. Rooter back in September 2025 because of a magnet advertisement I was sent in the mail a long time ago. I had it on my fridge. Bad mistake. The President claimed, "IF MY MISTERS CAN'T OPEN YOUR CLOGGED DRAIN ... YOU DON'T PAY!!" I found this to be untrue. I purchased a home in which the bathroom sink was clogged. I called them and a young Mr. Rooter plumber came out. He tried to snake the drain with commercial equipment and was unable to. He called a more experienced member of the company. They eventually left my home and I was without a bathroom sink for a couple weeks until I had Raymond Plumbing out. Raymond Plumbing was able to snake it with a 15' consumer snake that can be purchased at Home Depot. On the day that two Mr. Rooter plumbers came out, they wanted to charge me $716 (supposed discounted rate) for examining my bathroom sink drain. They used a camera and supposedly attempted to use a jet. I was told by the experienced plumber before he left that the cost to get the drain working again would be $1,400. But, only if I authorized the work on that very day. He said they would need to break into the wall and it would cost more if they had to come back out. I would not authorize that work. The experienced plumber left and the young, primary plumber stayed behind to collect money. Prior to the lower prices mentioned above, the experienced plumber wanted me to pay 11-12k to fix the main drainage. He said that rocks in the pipe were a big problem. Not exactly sure what all they intended to do. They were in my back yard talking among themselves before hitting me with the 11-12k fix that put me in shock. He told me they offered financing. I was against that because the drain problem was only with 1 sink. As many would, I started to distrust this experienced plumber and didn't believe anything more he was saying. He left my home and the primary plumber ended up only charging $500 and I wrote a check even though the drain was not working. I cancelled the check and Mr. Rooter sent my account to collections. We settled on something less than $500 via collections. Mr. Rooter - never again. That advertisement was false.
Recently, I posted an unfavorable review about Mr. Rooter in Valley View on Nextdoor based on the bad experience I had on 9/12/23. After numerous back and forth exchanges with their manager using the BBB as a mediator, they continued to deny any wrongdoing and refused to take responsibility for the well orchestrated scam they perpetrated. I proceeded to contact the Ohio Attorney General Office. Since Mr. Rooter management would not respond to their inquiries, which is a requirement for them to proceed on my behalf, their only course of action was to place my complaint on file for further reference. I determined that I would have to accept the financial loss and chalk up my bad experience to being another victim of their dishonest practices. However, I decided that it would be appropriate to alert my friends and neighbors by sharing my experience so they could avoid being taken advantage of by this unscrupulous company. On March 26 of this year, I received a YELP notification from Jess M. at Mr. Rooter inviting me to contact them so they could address my concerns "directly." When I called the number provided, they transferred me to a representative named Jane G. After sharing my experience with her, she suggested that "it happened quite a while ago" and that records indicated they had not acted inappropriately even though the evidence I provided would undeniably contradict that assessment. Her smug and dismissive attitude in defense of their actions makes me even more determined to warn the public about this company. Unfortunately, their fraudulent and deceptive pursuits will undoubtedly continue because to my knowledge they have not been legally held accountable for their practices. It appears that the only reason they responded to my uncomplimentary review was to give the impression to potential customers that they were actually concerned about complaints. They continue to prove they are untrustworthy and shameless.
If I could give them less then 1 star I would. I hired them on 10/22 to install a bathroom fan roof vent. On 10/24 I was able to get on the roof and see the work. IT WAS TERRIBLE! They installed vent wrong (see picture) the vent flashing was installed over the shingles and covered in tar. 10/25 I called them and they scheduled the same technician to come back out that same day. I left work early and arrived home. Soon after I got a call from the technician that he would not be able to come and the vent was not installed wrong. I told him I needed someone to come out. He said he would call me back. He never did, I called the office later that day. They said they would figure it out and call back. Over an hour later they called and scheduled a technician to come out on 10/26. I then had to leave work early on the 26th. The technician arrived but then had to leave to get his tools and showed back up an hour later. He finished installing the vent the correct way but when I looked at it the vent was the wrong type of vent. The vent did not have a damper or a place to connect the duct work too. They then scheduled the technician to come back out on 10/27. They called that morning and said he was a half hour away. He didn't show up for another hour after that. They left the wrong vent on the roof and screwed the duct work into the underside of my roof. I called the office several times after that and finally spoke with a supervisor on 11/6. He said the office would call and get the details to refund my money. They never called. I called them back on 11/8 and they said someone would call me on 11/14. On 11/15 I called them because no one called me. I left a message with someone I was supposed to talk to. They never called back. I call again on 11/19 and they said they would have them call me the next day. They finally called two days later to figure out the refund.
I strongly advise against using this company. My experience was defined by hidden fees, predatory upselling, and dishonest business practices. From the start, the technician argued with me and immediately pushed for their expensive hydro-jetting service without properly inspecting the issue, using scare tactics by claiming it was a "much bigger job." A major reason I agreed to the hydro-jetting was their promise of a 1-year warranty. During the work, they cut a hole in my drywall without my authorization and never disclosed that it would cost extra. I only found out about the $250 drywall cut when I saw the final bill. To make matters worse, they left waste and grey water soaked into the insulation inside the wall cavity, creating a biohazard they didn't clean up. The deceptive practices extended to their partnership with Rainbow Restoration. The technician knowingly gave me false information, insisting my homeowner's insurance would cover a sewer backup to pressure me into signing a costly mitigation contract, and intentionally wrote a vague report to try and game the insurance system. The final straw was an aggressive attempt to upsell me on a $17,000 complete main line replacement over standard tree roots. When I recognized the scam and refused the $17k quote, they retaliated by rug-pulling the 1-year hydro-jetting warranty they had used to sell me the initial service, reducing it to just 3 months. This company prioritizes high-pressure sales and bait-and-switch tactics over actual plumbing solutions. Do not trust their quotes, their warranties, or their advice.
On Monday, August 18, 2025, at approximately 12:00 PM, a technician named Paxton Geng from Mr. Rooter visited my home to provide a quote for a leaking spigot. I was not home at the time, so my wife communicated with him while I was on the phone. After concluding our conversation and right before leaving, Mr. Geng asked to use my wife's phone under the pretense of showing her a few things. My wife, who has limited English proficiency, allowed him to do so. He had her phone for about a minute. When she received it back, the screen showed a "Thanks for the review" page from Google. My wife navigated back and discovered that Mr. Geng had left himself a five-star review from her phone. He included a comment that is "Paxton Geng is a fantastic plumber who did a great job assessing our need. Highly recommend him to anyone". This action is a severe invasion of privacy and an act of impersonation. I immediately contacted Mr. Rooter to report the incident and spoke with a manager named Steve. He assured me he would look into the matter, make things right, and call me the following morning. I waited two weeks, calling him daily without a response. When he finally answered, his attitude was dismissive, and he seemed to have no intention of resolving the issue. The behavior of both the technician and the manager is deeply concerning. This experience suggests a lack of integrity and proper oversight within your company. I urge you to take immediate action to address this breach of trust and the subsequent failure to follow up.
Just before Christmas last year, our electrical supplier, AEP, had another electrical company contracted to put in new telephone/power poles in our neighborhood. What they didn't do is check to find out where our sewer pipe was located underground. The pole was put in right on top of our line and it collapsed. The next day after Christmas, I went down to the basement to do some laundry and the floor drain backed up, leaving a small lake in the basement. Called around for a plumber but none could come out any day soon - Except for Mr. Rooter. They came out the next day, cleared the drain, had more technicians come out and used wet/dry shop-vacs to get the water out, ran a camera through our drain-out plug and found the broken pipe, checked outside with sensors to pinpoint exactly where the break was at and sure enough - it was right where the new pole was installed. They talked me through the whole process - they called AEP and reported the problem, Mr. Rooter called the City of North Canton to get the permits for the work, met up with the contracted electrical company to get the pole moved, scheduled a day to excavate and replace the old sewer line, came back with a full crew, laid down groundcover protection on the yard before bringing in a backhoe, and then scheduled a water/mold cleanup company to clean and sanitize the basement afterward. All very professional, took all the stress away. Hope I don't need a plumber again any time soon but if I do, better believe I'm calling Mr. Rooter.
Let me tell you it's been a treat. Thursday I had a schedule to get a well pressure tank and a hot water tank installed. I got so much more. The charge was outrageous but I really needed it done. This was from guy one. Meanwhile I was struggling with being sick. Not thier problem but it was a topper, couldn't flush my toilet, shower or give my pets water. Good thing I have gallons delivered. So next guy was in and out of the house and this was a all day thing. He finished after 6pm. I told him that the gauge was resetting to fast and the limits were incorrect. Also left a mess. So the well wasn't working right and the next day next guy comes. He fixes the issue from guy two, this took a bit, still sick and can't use the toilet or shower. Well after guy three left I noticed that there was water in the pan under the hot water tank. Got a hold of this joke of a place and talked to guy three and he says the water was from when he cut the line. So no that wasn't the issue, I found , on the morning after that, after flushing the toilet water gushed out like old faithful soaking the area. Ruined my floors, and can't flush and do all that other stuff. The original reason that they had to be at my home wasn't their fault, me being sick wasn't either the rest is. So it's now then saying they'll replace the flooring. But I'm gun shy with them. I unfortunately was not to nice to them but completely frustrated. So just beware.
First I was told my window was noon to 4 pm. I got a call at around 10:15 that the tech would be at my house at 11AM, making me hurry to get home in time. Tech reviewed kitchen sink, tub, and recommended a valve replacement for the kitchen shut off and provided the quote. Tech started in the tub. I heard him talking to himself. After a little while, he got his stuck snake out of the drain. He then started on the kitchen sink. After a while, a second tech showed up to help him with the sink. They worked together and got the sink working well. The second tech must have left. First tech showed me the stacks for the toilet and tub, and explained why he recommended replacement and said he would send a quote. He told me about his stuck snake, he wasn’t going to charge me for snaking it, but it was draining slowly still. I told him it wasn’t draining, but he insisted he put more water in it. I then went to the shutoff and asked if it was replaced. He thanked me for reminding him. Fixed it, I paid and he left. I went into bathroom. Tub was not draining at all. I grabbed my auger. Sent it down five times. Pulled out three large clumps of hair. Tub is now draining. Not as big of a deal to me since I wasn’t charged, but if it was someone incapable of clearing it, just wanted to let you know.
