Marco and Santos installed 4 new toilets. They did a fabulous job and left no mess, they even took the boxes that the new toilets came in and hauled away the old toilets. They were very professional and extremely nice. I will definitely be keeping their number for all my future plumbing needs. Also I had them install 4 new toilet shut-off valves. Highly recommend using these plumbers.
This was our first time using Superior Plumbing and it was a great experience! We loved working with Armin. He got everything fixed for us and was so friendly and pleasant. Thank you!
Our house is more than 100 years old and our plumbing is unpredictable. We have used Superior for several different jobs and each time they were able to diagnose, repair and improve our plumbing. They are courteous and punctual, and their prices are reasonable. We really rely on them.
This review meets Yelp's review standards and/or guidelines and contains opinions with facts and observations to support. No threat is intended or implied. The owners are known publicly to State of California regulators, having paid fees and registering two entities without DBA nomenclature. Linking to external files and documents are used to illustrate the trust worthiness of this business, its owners and/or corporate officers. This use is fair game and is not a violation to Yelp TOS and is not a civil violation, further more, the State of California Contractors License Board encourages due diligence before selecting any company working within the trades. This is fair use. Over the years, I have more than a few rental properties and have shared a story or two with apartment owners, property managers and broker/owner/managers. One of the biggest issues is hiring trades to fix and maintain our investments. There are more than a few knuckleheads that would rather money-grub instead of providing value to the public and consumer. My displeasure with "Less-Than" Superior Plumbing started in August 2020. My home in the hills, 19 miles from my office in the Financial District of San Francisco. All trade-work is always morning scheduled and never anything after noon. Initial appointment scheduled as first of their day, starting at 9:00. Around10:30, I made a call to get a realistic ETA and was told that there was one job being finished and the crew would be there soon. Plumbers did not show until nearly 1:00 pm. Second appointment for the same issue was again scheduled for 9:00 am. I made sure to emphasize that being late was more than unfair, especially since this was a redo. When the techs decided to arrive around noon, I realized that I had wasted nearly another full day of billable hours that cannot be recouped. The included images, see the water on the floor? See the image of the pipe where there is visible staining and moisture? The tech claimed that he couldn't see a leak, WTF? Tech determined that it was better to argue that something didn't exist even when there was a drip that landed on his head. I told the techs to pack up and get off my property. I placed a call to Victoria at Superior who then went full-steam-ahead in verbal abuse and each and every time I tried to interject and take control of the conversation I was run over with what seemed to be a scripted response. I asked to speak to the owner to get this resolved. Instead of being placed on hold, I was put on ignore and the call was never picked up. #COVID19 While the techs were kind enough to wear shoe protectors, both exited the van on their arrival already wearing them. You have to wonder how many other homes were blessed in possible cross-contamination or am I the lucky one to have second hand protection? Three hours late, no time to put on fresh-clean covers? Neither tech wore gloves, another source of infection and contamination. The uniforms were in need of cleaning. Cross contamination again. Tech even after reminding him of distancing was no less than three feet away the entire time. Who would not be upset? TRUTH - TRUST - FRAUD It appears that #SuperiorPlumbing may just have a few issues in being honest. I'm a former journalist and live in a world where truth matters. After reading all the stellar 1 star reviews and being charged for work without benefit it became clear that one misstep usually means that this is just the tip of many issues. Woman Owned Company - not so much What caught my eye on Yelp was Superior was being advertised as a woman owned business. This is very uncommon and is an achievement that is no easy task. With a few simple queries this turned out not to be the case. If you look at the provided images you'll see Secretary of State, #SOS, and Contractors License Board, #CLB, documents that clearly state this is not the case, that the mention on Yelp is not the truth, but a lie. I honestly get why this dishonest statement was made... many times it will be the girlfriend or wife that calls, sets appointments and allows entry into a home. This statement on Yelp is a deceptive marketing tool targeting women. Unbelievable. Making false statement and outright lies constitute #Fraud, which is hard to prove, but in this case, the proof is the statement itself. Open and shut, done deal. Add to this what I assume is husband/wife, male owned business is that a #JudgementOfFraud cannot be discharged, meaning if you loose, you loose big. Want to file bankruptcy to avoid paying the judgement or awards? Never, ever going to happen. Fraudsters are denied the ability to wash away the sins. Wondering why Superior has two separate entities and two separate contracting licenses? Me too and the only reason that makes any sense is the fear of loosing your contracting license and the revenue stops completely. ASKING FOR A POSITIVE REVIEW During the initial visit, tech asked.
Awful experience. I called Superior Plumbing who I have used several times over the years to fix a dripping faucet in a shower (replace a washer). They've done this same repair in my master bath, so I know the routine. The technician told me I need to replace the cartridge (both hot and cold for $397). There are no cartridges in my showers! I asked him to write it up and as soon as he was outside of my gate I told him I would call someone else. I do not recommend Superior Plumbing.
Superior Plumbing & Drain Cleaning Services lives up to its name! They are trustworthy, professional, knowledgeable, sensitive in situations that require it, and incredibly efficient. I highly recommend them to anyone who has the unfortunate luck of having plumbing issues. Celina, Rudy, and Ignacio handled a plumbing emergency (with a dose of an emotional crisis) with ease, professionalism, and much-needed care and sensitivity. They completely fixed every single issue, and, in a very short amount of time. I'll give you details... Before they arrived, Celina demonstrated patience, professionalism, sensitivity, and INCREDIBLE efficiency over 4 - 5 phone calls to ensure that everything would go smoothly. She went the extra mile to accommodate a sensitive situation. She didn't have to do that. And I am so beyond grateful that she did. Superior's plumbers, Rudy and Ignacio, were the second blessing. First of all, they arrived early. (That never happens. Celina informed me of their impending arrival before they got here). I was made aware of one plumbing issue when I placed the work order. Upon their arrival, I informed Rudy and Ignacio of other plumbing issues that were not on their work order. Without hesitation and with zero bureaucratic issues from their office, Ignacio and Rudy handled every single plumbing issue with professionalism and efficiency. In just under an hour and a half, Rudy and Ignacio fixed a broken lavatory sink faucet, angle stops, supply line, a broken fill valve, and toilet handle. Before they left, they clearly explained everything to me and demonstrated to me how it was now working. They asked me if I had any other questions or concerns. Celina, Rudy, and Ignacio did not rush the process. They took their time and went above and beyond their call(s) of duty. I am grateful that Superior Plumbing & Drain Cleaning Services and - more specifically- that Celina, Rudy, and Ignacio came to my rescue. (I'm not being dramatic. If I was to share more specifics about this situation, the reader would understand why this was truly a "rescue" situation). Trust Superior Plumbing & Drain Services for ALL of your plumbing needs. I did. And I am so grateful for it.
I felt compelled to write this review to recognize an exceptional plumber--Jonathan is truly a gem. After discovering three major plumbing issues hidden by dishonest home sellers and the Gunderman Group, I went through three plumbers from different companies who were unable to diagnose or fix the problems. Jonathan was the fourth plumber, and the only one willing to thoroughly investigate, problem-solve, and see the job through. Where others gave up, Jonathan went above and beyond. His expertise, patience, and honesty solved issues that others and my contractor couldn't resolve. He carefully worked around electrical wiring, created access points when needed, installed a complex faucet in extremely tight conditions, and clearly explained every step so I could make informed decisions. He also communicated effectively with administrators at Superior Plumbing so that the home warranty was handled properly. I truly believe that without Jonathan, my plumbing problems would not have been fixed. Because of him, everything was resolved correctly and within my budget. I will only be a repeat customer if Jonathan is my plumber--Superior Plumbing should do everything possible to keep him. A special thank you as well to Fernando, who went above and beyond to help me obtain a hard-to-source faucet and navigate the home warranty process. His responsiveness and extra effort is the only reason why I have the faucet I want instead of the lower end versions initially offered. Fernando helped me achieve the desired bathroom I want, instead of settling for less. I am incredibly grateful for Jonathan, Fernando, and the team at Superior Plumbing who handled the home warranty reports.
My home warranty arranged for this company to fix a leaking toilet. The company was busy, the earliest they could come was 4 days after the work order was established. I saw the great reviews and interpreted the delay as a good thing and waited it out. The plumber was diligent to find the problem, and showed me the flange was below floor level and needed to be flush or above. He quoted $475 as an estimate for repair, citing the possibility of going under the house, extending the pipe, adding a new flange and about 2 hours of labor. He said the flange cost $125, the rest was labor. He came the next day to do the work, and didn't change the pipe or go under the house, but put in a thicker cast iron phalange which was slightly above the floor surface where it needed to be. It took 2 hours as he had to do some sawing to fit it in. Did great work and put it back together better than it was before (the side bolts had been a little loose.) I would have given 5 stars if I wasn't charged the full $475. I found the exact cast iron flange at Home Depot for $24.96, (likely cheaper price for a contractor). I was charged $449.04 for 2 hours labor! That's $224.52 an hour! I feel exploited since the hourly rate for a plumber is $20-$50/hour. I approved the job because I needed the toilet working again ASAP and the plumber had good skills. They do good work so if money is not an issue, go for it. I'd love to hire them again but I can't stomach paying over 4x the market rate for services. The overpricing knowing I desperately needed the work done felt borderline criminal.
We were paired with Rudy and Oscar from Superior Plumbing through our home warranty company, and I couldn’t be more grateful. From start to finish, they were professional, courteous, and exceptionally thorough. True experts who take pride in their work and deliver outstanding results. A previous plumber had written our issue off as unfixable, but Rudy and Oscar approached it with patience, skill, and determination. The other plumber hadn’t even attempted to remove the cast iron pipe cap, but they recognized that was the key to gaining proper access to the line. It was extremely stuck, yet they had the right tools, expertise, and persistence to get it open and fully unclog the drain. They communicated clearly, respected our home, cleaned up afterward, and ensured everything was functioning properly before leaving. They also took the time to explain what had caused the issue and offered practical advice on how to help prevent it in the future . They never asked for a review or tried to upsell us on additional services — their only focus was resolving the problem correctly and completely. As new homeowners, we’re incredibly grateful for their professionalism and integrity. We will absolutely be rehiring Superior Plumbing (and specifically Rudy and Oscar) for any future plumbing needs. If I could give them more than five stars, I absolutely would.
Superior plumbing has saved the day for me on countless occasions. I hit a sewer pipe with a lawnmower because it was sticking out of the ground and hidden by overgrown grass. I didn't know what it was, and sewage started coming out a few days later. I had another plumbing company come out and quote me $30k for a sewer lateral. I then had Superior Plumbing come out since they had recently installed a sewer lateral for my parents' house for much less. They said a piece of the pipe fell into the pipe, causing it to clog. They pulled out the piece, then cut the pipe to the ground and put a concrete cap that said "sewer," so I wouldn't hit it with the lawn mower again. It cost $1700 instead of $30k! Last week, the landscapers hit the cast iron sewer pipe coming from the bathroom outside. I immediately called Superior Plumbing, and they came out in 30minutes, as luckily they were close by. They addressed the issue and returned a few days later to replace the pipe with PVS, which proved to be very affordable. I then had them return to strap pipes under the house and install a water pressure regulator, as the water pressure was 95 when it should be 60. This could cause major problems with too high water pressure down the road with burst or leaking pipes. Look no further than Superior Plumbing for your plumbing needs!
These guys are amazing! The are professional, non judgemental, and got the job done at a very reasonable price. I would recommend them to anyone who wanted a plumber and drain cleaner. We have two properties, and they have become my new goto company for service. Details below: I called them on a Friday evening after we had a toilet issue. We couldn't use our toilet for a total of four days. I called our insurance and they were useless. I happened to drive by them on Rumrill and noticed the building - which looked a bit newer. I promised my husband that I'd look them up when we got home. But I got busy with work and forgot to call until later in the day. I called and the woman who answered the phone was very professional and let me know that while they were occupied that evening, that they could send someone by on Saturday to look at our issue. I received a call before they arrived. The guy, they came in, fixed the problem and was totall nonjudgemental about it. He was done in about 45 minutes. It was quick, easy and honestly, I can see why they have so many five star reviews! They deserve them. Thank you so much! Everything that you've done is appreciated.
Would have been 1 star since they just confirmed what I told the dispatcher on the phone and did no actual work and even though I explicitly said that they would have to get on the roof to inspect the vents up there, the plumbers that showed up refused to get on the roof (in perfect weather conditions). This is a 3 star review because they were sent out by Fidelity Home Warranty (which is terrible on its own) despite me repeatedly telling them that it was a roof vent problem and not a water pipe issue, so the plumbers shouldn't have really ever been sent out in the first place. However, they were sent out, and as I said, I told the dispatcher multiple times that they'd have to get on the roof. In addition, I was told I would get a message (text or phone call or email would have all been acceptable) with the plumber's name and arrival time but I never received that. Also, they left dirty hand prints all over the panel to the attic. Also, they left the light on in my attic, which I only noticed when I removed the panel to the attic to clean the hand prints off of it.
Hector came to my house and said water pressure was too low and would fix the problem of having low water pressure at some taps. Showers were fine but some bathroom taps were flowing very little. He wanted to charge me $450 to reinstall main valve to utility and that would fix everything. It did not, and there was no change whatsoever. I told him two other plumbers had said that my water pressure at the main inlet was not low, but he insisted that would fix the problem. After they did the work and I got nothing, I told him I would only pay $225 or 50% for the work, which I thought was charitable since it did nothing to solve the problem except eliminate the remote possibility his science experiment would improve water pressure. They charge usurious rates I would not call them again. They wanted $350 to clean and descale my 2yo tankless water heater, which was $100 more than what others charged, but I went with them because they were Rheem authorized. For what they charge, they need to take ownership of their work.
My home warranty company sent them twice. The first time my water heater had a leaking gas valve. The second time was by my request after another company failed. Water heater gas valve. The plumber fixed it and then showed me how to pull information about the water heater and learned how it had been newly installed. He didn't have to do the last part, but he did. This meant he explained the warranty should something go wrong in the next 7 years. Thank you Jonathan! Then I had 3 small repairs assigned to another company. They may have fixed 1 of 3. They fixed 1 flapper on toilet (maybe), touch another (twisted a leaking sink drain pipe) and denied anything was broken on the other toilet that wasn't filling. I asked my home warranty to send Superior back to re-do the still leaking sink drain and to check the other toilet. They came in and fixed them. Thank you Jorge! As a side note, they only access the house where it was linoleum flooring. I didn't ask for shoe covers but they put them on!
Excellent experience working with Superior and I'll call them with any future plumbing needs! I needed to install an earthquake safety valve and contacted about 8 plumbers (all 4+ stars on Yelp). I was surprised that about half the plumbers said I didn't need a permit! I suspect that some of them may not be licensed, because Yelp lets you fly under the radar. Here's the breakdown of quotes: - $750-900: quotes with no permit quotes (they were not willing to apply for one) - $650: if no permit ($1300 if I want a permit) - $1200-$1650: quotes with permits Superior charged me $850 with permit. I believe they are able to be so competitive with their pricing because they are extremely organized and have efficient and fast communication. There is one person in charge of accounting; another is in charge of permits. We got our permit in about an hour which must be a record for the city of Berkeley!
