This place took wonderful care of our needs with a septic pump out. Will use again and recommend to others.
Few months ago Kayla and Chris went above and beyond to help me find a break in my sewer line. Today, Kayla replaced my sump pump. Very quick response, detailed in explaining the whys and what I needed. So efficient and cleaned up after the job. Could not have better customer service. So nice!
We were overwhelmed with the quick and thorough service Roto-Rooter provided. We had water (possibly sewage) leaking through our ceiling due to a toilet issue on Dec. 26. They were able to come out that day, which surprised us given it was the day after the holiday. In addition to sending out a plumber, when they realized I needed to remove a portion of my ceiling quickly they were able to send out their restoration team. If I had hired a smaller plumbing company or contractor I would've had to find someone else who could do that work. The two teams worked together to get the problem addressed that day, worked with me through the insurance claim, and provided exceptional customer service by answering additional questions over the phone when we had them, as well as returning on each of the next two days to check on the clean-up. We were extremely impressed with the experience.
Darlene quoted $499 to pump the septic tank. They sent a woman that had just came off of maternity leave to come pump it knowing there was a concrete riser lid on the solids tank. I ended up helping her remove it because that is what good people around here do. She was nice but unprofessional; the girl was frustrated by the weight of the lid and cussing like a sailor. She noticed the outlet for the pump had burned out so the office sent 2 other people out here. One of them was Jordan Randall who seemed to takeover the job. While waiting to pay them, Jordan Randall and the woman fresh of maternity leave were telling each other stories of the jobs they had just come off reveling in the fact that Jordan and a previous customer had a verbal stand off about if a former plumber had done their job correctly. When they finally came over to let me pay them, the woman’s tablet didn’t work and so Jordan had the ability to accept payment by phone. They billed me $1,080 with no explanation as to why and gave me a digital receipt that had no written lines at all. It did not say what they did, what they didn’t do, what a set price was for any task they feel that they completed; nothing. The next morning, water backed up in every bath tub and shower in the house. Come to find out it is because they never cleared the main line. After calling Darlene we were forwarded to Jordan Randall who only came back to the house on that day because he feared an insurance claim knowing that with 3 employees out here the previous day, they still couldn’t do a simple job correctly. He came out with a truck that let him spray a water jet up the pipe and cleared the main line, like what should have happened the previous day. If it had happened the previous day, they would have pumped everything they cleared from the main line up, as is customary. Instead he cleared my main line, acted like it was charity, even though he came to complete a job they didn’t complete yesterday, and this time magically had a paper receipt needing signatures with descriptions of the work that he did. However, this leaves me in a situation of having no pump working in the tank and in his description one of them is 1/2 full and the other is 1/4 full. Mind you this 20 hours after their pump service and we don’t have the ability to add anything to the tanks because they had left the main line clogged up. He tried to tell me it was all ground water. In his opinion it certainly was not the fact that he had to empty the whole main line into the tanks, didn’t pump anything out, as it should have been, and as if he didn’t clear everything with a high pressure water jet. The truth is he left me in a position where their pumping service the previous day was null and void even though they got paid. If you pay someone to pump the tank, they have to come out twice because they failed at completing their job correctly, and then they leave you with tanks that are 50% pumped out. I would say that it is a fraudulent company. My experience has been that they are: dishonest, unprofessional, and shady. Also heads up, when you confront them about their price discrepancy Jordan Randall will tell you they charge by the tank even though Darlene will tell you that it is by the 1,000 gallon. Who knows who is honest there? I assume Darlene because every single septic pump company that I called in the area charges by the 1,000 gallon. Also those places have lower prices, more reviews, and more trusted. For real, try Metro plumbing - Poop Guys - literally anyone else. TL;DR: If you want unprofessional people overcharging you and not doing the job correctly, leaving you in almost as bad of a spot as the original service, while they act like they have done you favor, then this 20+ year long business with only 92 reviews (likely because they delete the bad ones) is for you.
Your drivers’ choices of parking are just as bad as the service we received several years ago! My residence is not even the one being serviced and your driver has completely blocked my driveway to service a neighboring house! I literally cannot leave unless I drive completely through the neighbor’s yard that lives in front of me! This is UNACCEPTABLE and should NOT be allowed! It has been HOURS and I still have no access to leave!!!! Might I add that my driveway is NOT a shared driveway as stated in the reply, nor has it ever been!!! It is completely independent from the residence that was being serviced. Also, it is not my job to tell the tech where he needs to park! Common sense should be more than enough to know not to block a driveway!!!!
I had the unfortunate opportunity to need the immediate services of a plumber this past Sunday afternoon. My tenants called me at work to tell me there was "water" backing up out of a pipe in the basement floor. I knew that could only mean one thing: a clogged sewer line. Naturally on a Sunday, of course. Since it was my rental house I also knew that I had to act fast before things really got out of hand. Were it my own home I would have done some price shopping first but I knew there was no time for that. Called Roto Rooter right off the bat. Walter arrived about a half hour late but was neat, thorough, and professional; doing all he could that night and delivering the additional bad news as delicately as possible. Although it was a Sunday I was not charged time and a half and he even cut me a break on his bill knowing that I would be needing additional camera work very shortly. The next morning I called back again to Roto Rooter to verify that Walter had reported to them as he said he would to schedule the camera work for the following day. This time it was Russ and he was even 15 min early! (Having been let in by my tenant). His camera work confirmed the suspected (and dreaded) bad news: old clay sewer pipes shattered to bits Again because this was a rental property; I immediately committed to having Roto Rooter do the necessary trenching and replacing of the line without obtaining additional estimates. Russ verified that he would actually be the person doing the work and he be on site in two days at 9 am. True to form he was 15 min early again and was hard at work when I arrived. Both Russ and Alan worked neatly and consistently through the drizzle the entire day leaving not a trance of evidence that they had even been there by the time they finished except the large (but again exceedingly neat) row of dirt running the length of the front yard (and the large hole in my checking account). Could I have gotten the work done more cheaply? Without a doubt. Could I have gotten it done more quickly, seamlessly, neatly, professionally and with less damage to my landscaping? I doubt it. And how do you put a price on that? Thank you Russ and Alan.
I have never taken the time to write a review before but I am so angry I just have to. I called roto rooter and it was determined by them after having 3 guys out that I first needed my back patio excavated and their services were going to cost over 5000.00. They said they would either would have to go through the roof and do something that would cause my basement to be filled with sewage or they would have to excavate my back new stamped concrete patio instead. I chose the patio of course. After I begged the third more advanced plumber to see if there was another way of doing things he agreed we wouldn't have to dig up the back patio "yet" at least. I asked since we don't have to do that, then a boat load would thankfully come off my bill. After checking they said they would take off only 400.00. Mind you, they already had the excavating equipment at my house. I said no way...only 400.00 off. Are you kidding me???? I couldn't believe it!!! I made them leave and I got another plumber over there 4 days later. They fixed my whole problem in 2 hours and the cost for what they did was $350.00. They said if what they didn't fix the problem they may have to re-pipe which would be another 450.00 tops. Now this is a far cry from $5000.00 to them and then another $4-$6000 for new concrete. I was also told by Roto-Rooter all my sewage waste was in my front yard and would cause major problems. The second plumbing company snaked it and I saw the video footage going ALL THE WAY to the street. The second plumbing company saw no backup, a few roots , but everything looked actually really good he said and I saw it for myself. I have no gurgling in my sink and I saved over $10,000 by not using this company. HIGHWAY ROBBERS who wanted to take advantage of a single woman. I am just sooooo grateful I was smart enough to get a second opinion. 1 star is too many. I would urge people to go elsewhere. This is the first review I have EVER taken the time to write.
Started having plumbing issues Thursday 7/19. Called this place they came out helped us locate our septic tank, vents and what not. Quotes one price for them to do ALL the work including digging. Also quoted us a price without them doing the digging. We decided to save a few hundred bucks and do the digging ourself. That's all fine and well so we scheduled them to come out the next day(7/20) however we weren't given a time window nor were we given an exact time until we called theming the morning on 7/20. They then gave us a time window. We told them that the majority of our household works 3rd shift so they would need to knock a little louder than normal so our son can wake one of us up to deal with anything including paying them for the services. All of that was fine and well. It's hard to describe how everything went down it felt like they were HIGHLY unorganized and unprofeasional. However 7/20 arrives they call from a RESTIRCTED phone number, they didn't leave a message nor did they show up and knock on the door like we requested. So we have been without access to our plumbing utilities for 5 days now. If they were to come out and service our home over the weekend it would have been highly surcharged regardless of the fact that we started working with this company during the week. These people seemed to not know how to communicate between each other(company wise) It was all a big run around and they couldnt give us any type of direct real answers. I see why this company has a rating of under 4. Glad we didnt waste the money with this joke of a company. We are taking our business else where.
We recently called this company to address a major backup affecting multiple drains in our home, including the toilet, shower, laundry sink, and washer. While the septic tank ultimately needed to be pumped, the service we received was unprofessional and poorly communicated. The technician decided to snake through a toilet without explaining the risks or offering alternative access. This resulted in the toilet being broken. While it was replaced without charge, this should never have happened without warning or consent. Pricing was another major issue. We were told charges were hourly, but there was no clear estimate provided upfront, and no updates were given as time and costs increased. The total bill ended up over $1,200, leaving us unsure what to expect throughout the process. The problem also seemed misdiagnosed at first. Despite clear signs of a system-wide issue, ineffective methods were used before it was determined that the septic tank needed pumping. Finally, our experience with the office staff was disappointing. The receptionist/secretary was consistently rude and dismissive, which added unnecessary stress. Combined with the technician’s poor judgment and communication, it is clear that customer service is not a priority for this company. Overall, while the problem was eventually resolved, the lack of professionalism, communication, and informed consent throughout the process was unacceptable. We will not be using this company again and do not recommend them.
I called roto-rooter for service on 09/02/09 because we had blockage in the basement toilet, they said that there is some one in the area and will be there in about 10-15 minutes and I said okay. So, we waited abut 60 minutes until someone showed up. We got an estimate to clean this blockage $354.00. And we said that this is too much are you serious? Then the plumber said if you want to remove the toilet yourself it will be $100 less. So I removed the toilet in less then 2 minutes. When the plumber was doing his job I was watching him make sure he is doing a good job the minute I left to the other room the plumber is calling me " hey something is leaking" I came back and the the tiny water hose that was connected from the refrigerator was going down from the basement on the ceiling was cut and the water was coming. I think and I know for sure the plumber cut the hose because next to him there was a razor blade. So the hose could not just jet cut in half the minute I left the room. So I had to go to the store and buy new parts to fix it my self. So ridiculous. Also there is more. Before the plumber start the job he said that there will be a 6 month warranty and I said that nice and after he completed the job he said the warranty is only for one week. I all most jot a heart attack. I ask him why? and he said well I that its 6 but its only 1 week. If I would know this in advance I would call someone else. I do not trust roto rooter and will never use it again.
We just bought a house in North Olmsted. Our first night we found a plumbing problem that wouldn't have shown up on our home inspection. My wife contacted the home warranty company. They sent JPC Plumbing. I was at work when my wife called crying. The Plumbing company came in scraped up the freshly painted walls. They then said they would have to use specialized equipment and a special camera for $700. They told her they would return the next day. I was home when they came the next day. They wanted to pull the main discharge plug and empty sewage into my finished basement. They had no buckets or anything to contain the mess. They then wanted me to sign a release that they weren't liable for any damages. I kindly told them no and to leave. I called Roto Rooter. Matt showed up in 30 minutes. He took a look at the problem and said that it wasn't a big problem. He had the clog fixed in no time. He used a camera and explained the procedure, and showed me everything he found and did. He even stayed a bit longer until my wife got home from work and explained everything to her and assured you the previous plumbers didn't know what they were doing. I know that Roto Rooter may cost a little more, but quality of service and professionalism Matt displayed will easily have my business again should the need arise. Thanks Matt and Roto Rooter.
We had just bought a house and everything was backing up into the house, I figured previous owner never had septic pumped. We never received a copy of the permits for the septic so we had no idea where the tank and lines were. Guy comes out and pokes around for a few minutes and exclaims he cant find the tank, the proceeds to tell me he is going to charge me 95 bucks!!! Furious I tried to reason with him and pry more information, with no luck I paid and he left. Now my wife and I enraged by the event we started digging around our selves and found the tank! I called Roto-Rooter back and explained the situation and said " If you want to keep my business, have your guy come back out and pump my tank and take off 95 dollars". They took down m information and said a manager would call me back. I got a call an hour later with a lady saying the owner will stand by his 95 dollars, I said fine Ill take my business else where. A poor business decision, eating the 95 bucks could have prevented such a negative review. They say it's a fee they have to charge, but I had Metro plumbing come out and apparently I uncovered the wrong tank lid so they had to come back, and they didn't charge! They just told me if I can uncover the other lid I would save a bunch of money, and I did!
Our shower drain had slowed to a stop in our older home, so we weren't quite sure how to handle the situation. I've heard lots of differing stories about whether it's safe to use drain cleaning materials on old pipes, I wasn't entirely sure what type of pipe we had, etc. Enter Dennis of Roto-Rooter. Dennis was extremely professional. He outlined each of the steps he would be performing and why he would be doing them. He explained to me exactly what was happening and did so professionally with a friendly attitude. After he had cleared out the bathroom drain cleaner than I'd ever seen it drain before, he threw in a cleaning of the bathroom sink and the kitchen sink! Not only did he then describe how to maintain the drains, he left us a bottle of the liquid drain protector, how and when to use it, and gave us some other tips as well. Dennis did an excellent and quick job. I have a hectic schedule, and Roto-Rooter was efficient and helpful in working around my schedule. They arrived quickly and on time and finished the job just as quickly and effectively. I believe I got the best "bang for my buck" with Roto-Rooter and would absolutely recommend them to a friend.
Should be ZERO stars, but I have to give at least one on here in order to post this. With a little research (after the fact), I learned that their "plumbers" are actually salesmen who earn a commission. So, expect high-pressure tactics and quotes for the most amount of money they can squeeze out of your wallet. They pressured an elderly family member into signing up for an extremely expensive repair, and even discouraged her from getting other quotes. Turns out, the actual repair was MUCH smaller than they said on the estimate, but since it's a flat rate, we still had to pay the full amount (almost ten thousand dollars). Oh, and then after the initial repair was done, they found another "problem" farther down the line and wanted to fix that...for another $10K. Unbelievable. I reached out to their customer service dept several times and didn't get so much as a reply. We'll never be using Roto Rooter for anything ever again. Hire them if you're looking to get severely ripped off. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and use a good, local tradesman. Also, don't ever let them talk to elderly loved ones. They WILL take advantage of them.
Overpriced and lazy. 8 months ago, a Roto Rooter plumber came over to my house to check the pressure on my gas pipes to see if it was possible to have a gas stove. He spent 30 minutes checking the pressure and it didn't even hold pressure for 1 second (should have been a hint!). He was happy to charge me $250 for doing nothing and left. Fast forward to today, I was doing some maintenance on my furnace and I looked up. I saw a dead end gas pipe that the end was completely opened and not sealed off! In open air in my basement ceiling! I traced it back right to the line that would go up to my stove. I feel so foolish now for letting him take advantage of me like that. I already bought an electric stove and now it's possible that my gas-line can hold pressure and now I have to test it again. It should have been a dead giveaway that it didn't hold pressure for even 1 second. AVOID at all costs. Don't make the same mistake I did and throw money down the drain.
