I called late in the afternoon when water wouldn't drain anywhere in our house. James was incredibly helpful, as he has been in the past, troubleshooting over the phone and offering a few tricks to try. He assured me that if those didn’t work, he would come out that same day to fix the issue, going above and beyond to ensure it would be taken care of that evening. Thankfully, his advice worked, and the problem was resolved without needing a service call. When I asked how I could pay him for his time, he kindly said his advice was free and to just call him next time we needed service. James was so friendly, professional, and dedicated to making sure our issue was fixed quickly. I couldn’t be more impressed with the level of customer service. Definitely calling him again for any future plumbing needs!

James Rice is a great plumber, clearly very knowledgeable and a clear communicator. We had a great experience with him this morning and the bill was perfectly reasonable. Also he’s really nice, and he was able to come out quickly. Would definitely recommend this firm!

I perform construction management for a local school system. Rice Plumbing has worked with us for several years. We have been very pleased with their level of service. This summer I had a quick hitting new install project that had to be completed to open a building on time. James worked nights, weekends, and overtime to ensure that we met our goals and were able to open on time. I appreciate his willingness to do what is necessary to get the job done. Thank you!

I'm seeing all the very positive 5-Star reviews here on Google for James at Rice Plumbing, and I really wish our experience had been with him. Unfortunately, our experience with Rice was *nowhere close* to what these other reviews state. Jeff from Rice Plumbing came to our home in early May to fix a rocking toilet. The flange was cracked and was also sitting an inch too high (as if the buider was going to lay tile but then changed their mind), and so the toilet rocked from front to back. After repairing the cracked flange for $165, he left and told us to stay off the toilet for a few days to allow the caulk to dry and hopefully help support the toilet more. We stayed off the toilet for several days and upon our first time using it, it wasn't fixed it at all. It was still a rocking chair. So we called Rice Plumbing back and Jeff came out again. On his second visit, he tried to repair the flange again, but didn't feel hopeful he'd be able to (to his credit, the original builder had used a plastic flange, not a metal one, which makes repairing them more difficult). But, he did put additional screws in to try to help, heavily caulked the toilet and told us to stay off of it a week to allow the caulk to dry and help support the toilet more. I've since learned this is not a Best Practice for professional plumbers. We asked Jeff for a quote several times for replacing the flange, as opposed to repairing it, and it seemed like he just didn't want to do it--he kept emphasizing what a massive project it would be and how it would be really invasive. Jeff's quote was $500 to replace the flange because of the following reasons he gave us: -He said we had a 3 inch pipe, so he couldn't glue another pipe inside of it because a 2 inch pipe would be too small and clog up -It would be a multiday process (probably 3-4 days he said) -He would have to bring in a crew to "jackhammer the slab" to allow for the new flange to sit 1 inch lower After the weird vibe we got about him not wanting to replace it and the $500 quote, we called another plumbing company (Plumber Pro) and they charged us $298 for the flange replacement. When they removed the toilet (nearly a month after Jeff had been here) the caulk was STILL WET and had never dried. The new plumbers sort of laughed and asked why we put so much caulk up under the toilet and thought WE had tried to fix it ourselves from YouTube videos. They were actually SHOCKED when we told them we'd paid a professional to do it. After that, we started asking them about the other reasons Jeff (Rice Plumbing) gave us that it would be difficult to replace the flange, and each time they let us know the reasons weren't true. -We actually have a 4 inch pipe--they SHOWED us!!! -It was a one-day process and our toilet is fixed perfectly -They did not have to bring in a crew to jackhammer the slab; they used a chipping technique to chip away at the slab to allow the flange to be lowered to floor height. -They were happy to have our business and did the job properly in a single visit. Out toilet has been great ever since. The most disappointing part of all of this is that we were lied to. Jeff knew we're not plumbers and took advantage of our lack of knowledge. This alone is ALL I WOULD EVER NEED TO RECOMMEND GOING WITH ANOTHER PLUMBER. Since our visits from Rice Plumbing, we've learned a lot about plumbing, and others we've spoken with have been shocked to hear that it would cost FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS to replace and lower a flange with Rice Plumbing. It's really a bummer to see so many others here on Google who had incredible experiences with Rice Plumbing and to know that we received such poor treatment. At least now the owners will know how their plumbers are representing their business.

Called Rice Plumbing to install a sink. Nice guys, going well, then they said the sink basket I had previously bought was too short to connect through the thick sink I had bought with it. Fair enough, I thought, I’ll just return the first basket. They returned about two hours later with a new basket for about $50 more than I paid for the first one, but whatever. At the end of the appointment they said their credit card reader was down and that they would bill me. About a month later, I got a call and the bill was for $200 more than I was expecting - I thought $180 including the new basket, but it was $380. I asked why, and Mark told me that the guys were on the clock for the two hours they went to purchase the new sink basket. So, the $20 sink basket I previously bought at Home Depot was replaced by Rice for $270 ($70 + $200 travel time to store and back), equalling the price of the sink. They didn’t say they were staying on the clock for their trip to the store, but I should’ve figured, I guess. But then, I didn’t have a chance to question them about it since they didn’t provide me with a bill at the end of the appointment and was instead surprise-billed a month later. It could’ve very well been a coincidence, but it worked out very well for Rice. Two stars total because the work was well done.

We picked Rice Plumbing because they had a 5 star rating. My need was to have our hot water heater replaced in our crawlspace. I spoke with Mark, who is very friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable and offered real fast service and almost any date I needed, even as quick as the next day! I had asked him how much to install the hot water heater if I had bought it first and he gave me an hourly rate which far surpassed and was much cheaper than the flat rate other plumbing businesses quoted me. They came out today and he sent his man, Kirby, to install it. He did a really professional and quick job, only 2 1/2 hours of labor. He gave me the impression he was very professional and also knowledgeable and said he’s been doing this job 23 years. He was also a very friendly person. All I can say is from today’s experience, Rice Plumbing certainly lived up to their 5 star rating! If you’re in search of a plumber that is professional, experienced, and has very good prices, and offers quick service, then I highly recommend this outfit. Make them your first and only choice. Don’t even waste your time looking online for other plumbers.

I will, 100%, use Rice Plumbing again and recommend them to friends. We had an emergency with the main water line from the house to the street. This was our first experience as a home owner with a busted main water line. Sewage was leaking from the pipe into our front yard. Rice Plumbing was recommended to me through a friend, and I called them immediately. Though after 5:00pm, Jeff Smith answered the phone and couldn't have been more amazing. They were able to fit us in the following day despite it being New Year's Eve and a 1/2 day for the crew. Jeff called when he was on his way in order to give us a heads up. Not only were they timely, efficient and professional but also insanely nice and friendly. It was cold and raining but the crew of 4 kept a smile on the whole time. They fixed the problem and had us up and running in no time. Jeff Smith and Landon were the main people I worked with but the whole crew of 4 saved our New Year's Eve!! I have other plumbing needs and will be calling Rice Plumbing again after the New Year.

Absolutely an A+ operation all around. I lost hot water yesterday and had a different plumbing company come out and assess the situation. The other company gave me what seemed to be an unusually high quote for replacing a hot water heater given the research that I had done. I was lucky enough to find Rice Plumbing on Google, and gave them a call. I spoke to Mark who couldn't believe how high the other company had quoted us. He gave me a much, much more reasonable quote and sent someone out just an hour later. Shortly after that Jeff and Jonathan came to install the hot water heater. They could not have been more friendly, professional and timely. It is rare today to find a company that cares about its customers as much as these guys do. As a new home owner they have a customer for life and I will be singing their praises.

I had the pleasure of meeting three members of the Ric team of plumbers. All the work they did at my home was top notch and they were very professional. Jonathan provided an estimate for plumbing renovations for my master bath and he also took the time to share his knowledge about plumbing fixtures and methods of installation that saved me money on the redo. Kyle and Carlos did the renovations and worked without ceasing to complete the job in a timely manner. Kyle was very patient and knowledgeable in answering a myriad of plumbing questions and giving his opinion about installation options and fixtures. Carlos is such an effective multitasker, keeping the installation goingwhile maintaining a clean work environment that shows respect for the customer’s home.

This is the second time we've used Rice Plumbing. I couldn't be more pleased. Sunday we noticed our shower filling with water... Oh No! We tried calling two local emergency plumbers and didn't hear back from either. First thing Monday, we went back to our favorite plumbers, Rice Plumbing. Called about 8:15 AM and were informed they'd have someone out by lunch. Jim arrived about 10:45 and immediately got to work. He fixed the issue and recommended a future replacement of the old cast iron lines to the sewer. They have earned our trust and loyalty yet again. Price was reasonable as well. So very thrilled with Rice Plumbing! What was a super stressful situation on Sunday is now peace of mind midday Monday.

We have used Rice plumbing several times over the last couple of years to replace a toilet that also had some pipe issue, to replace and repair a hot water heater, as well as a few other smaller issues. We will never use anyone else. They have always been incredibly professional and always willing to go beyond even what we ask to be sure we are satisfied and our plumbing needs do not lead to future problems. Plumbing is one of those things that can lead to major problems if not handled properly, and the folks at Rice Plumbing do an excellent, professional, and thorough job. Hopefully, you never need a plumber, but if you do, you can be confident that Rice will get it done quickly and properly.

Kyle was very friendly and professional when he came to unclog my kitchen sink that had been giving me trouble for over a year. It now works perfectly! One thing I especially liked about him is that he took the time to explain what he was doing and why. Plumbing issues can be similar to car problems in that we the client can't always see what is going on "under the hood". You really have to trust the professionals to advise you on the right course of action. Over the years, I've found that good pros are clear about the what, why, and how and are forthcoming when you have questions. This is how Rice Plumbing does business. I would recommend them to a friend.

I made an appointment with Mr. James Rice over a week before the appointment time (Monday March 9). I took things out of cabinets, moved furniture, delayed a vacation to be there that day. Mr Rice never showed. After trying to call him, and texting him, he finally called back and explained it was Spring Break and he was with his daughter. He did offer to reschedule at a time more convenient to him. I explained Spring Break Week is the only week I have off work (sad, but true) to be home for work to be done on my house and I was leaving the next day to go out of town. He laughed! I can't say what kind of work he does, because he didn't show up!
