Straightforward, honest and professional. Will showed up for the free consultation within 30 minutes from the time I called. He quoted me a fair price and explained the work that would get done -- promising that there will be no charge if they couldn't fix it issue! I chose to get more items fixed because of his demeanor and transparency. The work and verification took much longer than we both expected. Yet, true to their word I was only charged the amount quoted. I already plan to get more work done through this business. Highly recommend!
Easy phone call to a responsive human, showed up on time, estimate given, problem fixed!
We got the run around from another plumbing company shortly before Christmas. We had a leaking drain beneath our kitchen sink. By the time I had realized that I was getting nowhere with the other company, it was Christmas Day. I called Oakland Rooter and left a voice message. Within 10 minutes I received a text informing me that they were closed (which I expected) but could schedule someone for the next morning. They told me someone would be at our house between 9 and 11 AM. Gil arrived at 9:15 and after I showed him the problem area he gave us an estimate saying he could finish the repair that day but would need to go to the store first. The price seemed fair and to be honest we were getting desperate by that time. (The other plumbing co. failed to show up on Christmas Eve as promised). Gil went to the store for the supplies he needed and returned, working non stop until he finished after 3 PM. He did a great job and even did a little extra work on our cabinet that was water damaged. The price charged was the same as his estimate. It is such a relief to have our kitchen sink usable again as we had Christmas dinner on paper plates and clean up was done in the bathtub. I highly recommend Oakland Rooter & Plumbing. They came through for us when we really needed it! Photo is of old pipe over 100 yrs. old that was replaced.
I called Oakland Rooter and Plumbing at 8:30am on Saturday morning because my smart toilet bidet had stopped flushing completely. Because it is a smart toilet, and only 6 months old, I wanted a professional to fix this issue. I made a point of telling them it's a tankless smart toilet bidet to ensure they had experience with them. I know I'm one of many that have opted for the tankless smart toilet, so I assumed they could work on them, and the dispatcher said as much. Until today, I have had zero issues with it. The technician arrived on time, diagnosed the issue as a clog, and said he needed to use the auger. Now, any Google search will tell you not to use a standard drain auger on a smart toilet. It will scratch the porcelain. So, I assumed since I called a professional plumbing company that the technician would have a toilet auger. This is super important because toilet augers, unlike standard drain augers, are wrapped to protect the porcelain coating on a toilet. The technician unclogged the toilet in minutes and was finished and out of my home within 30 minutes. I thought, amazing work! However, after he left I inspected the toilet and noticed small flecks of debris down around the bottom of the toilet drain, I don't know the term for this, but it's the hole that everything goes down when you flush. Point is, the auger that was used scratched the porcelain coating up horribly. I'm extremely unhappy and will be calling the company. If you have a smart toilet, I'd call another company.
Please price around before you take there price. I feel that they are dishonest. Some guy from this company quoted me 1200 for a small leak. I call Mauro's plumbing and the quote was 280.
Elaine Benes: "Different pipes go to different places! You're gonna mix 'em up!" George Costanza: "I'll call a plumber right now!" -Seinfeld Da Scene: This time it was a faulty p-trap under the kitchen sink, slow drip leak flooded the cabinet bottom spilled onto the hardwood floors overnight., not a great wake up to a Saturday morning. Hand tightening the nuts didn't help so YELP! to the rescue. Contacted our friends at Oakland Rooter & Plumbing via the messaging/quote function. They arrived on site early Sunday morning... Da Work: We've had several jobs done by this team over the past 2 years, all with fine results: - Toilet replacement and drain cleaning - Kitchen sink faucet/fixture replacement - Run/route gas lines for new stove and oven - Another toilet replacement and bidet installation (LOVE the bidet, gonna have them back to install them on the other toilets). A quick inspection of the leak and a replacement of the p-trap was needed, wasn't the nut/s but a crack in the pipe. Technician had the parts and was done in an hour, would've taken me 1/2 a day for sure! Da Service: -Good communications from initial contact through job completion. Was kept informed on work, changes, cost, timeline throughout. -Courteous and tidy (boot coverings, masks, gloves, left the work site clean) -Skilled technicians completed work with excellent results and pretty quickly While it was different technicians each time, they have been consistently excellent, this shows me that it's a CULTURE of the company leadership from dispatch, to technicians, to back office - they care about doing a great job and keeping their customers happy - even gave me a break on this job as a repeat customer. Quality, Customer Service, Value... I'll call them 1st every time!
An overdue review. Woke up on a Sunday morning with multiple leak notifications so my husband had to shut off the main water outside the house. We called our usual plumber but he wasn't available on Sunday. I searched the web, called around and found Oakland Rooter on Yelp which also boasts high ratings and solid reviews. I called and a gentleman picked up, he was able to send someone out to take a look for no cost with same day service (keep in mind, this happened to be on a Sunday.) Shortly after, the assigned plumber, Gil called and was able to stop by the house within the hour. We explained the situation and he ran some diagnostics to figure out the exact location of the leak. Ultimately, he informed us that the entire water line from the main water meter to the house needs to be replaced from PVC to copper. He quoted us a price (labor and materials included) and it was fair, considering the cost of copper is high and this happened on a weekend. We agreed to have him perform the work and he started the job immediately. To make the process as efficient as possible, he also reached out to another plumber to help with the job. They had to dig a big trench to get to the old water line in order to replace it with a copper line. The digging took awhile, they started the job at around 1 pm on Sunday, worked till 5:30 pm that day. Gil and his colleague returned on Monday at around 9 am and continued the digging. They were done at 1 pm with the job. Over 30 feet of the water line was replaced. Both plumbers finished the job as quickly as possible and left our front yard spotless. Fast and quality service, and price is reasonable, I am bookmarking them for all future plumbing needs.
I know it's weird to say you love a plumber, but I love this company. The sewer main backed up to our house. Ugh. A charming young man named Eduardo Navarro arrived the next day, on a holiday weekend, and quickly assessed that we needed some major work done. He was able to return with a camera the next night and give us a very comprehensive review of the problem - roots had grown into the pipes, and he was able to pinpoint exactly where this had occurred in our yard, despite our not having a clean-out pipe. He then offered no less than 3 suggestions, fully explaining them and their associated costs, all the while not being pushy about any of the solutions. He wanted to make sure we fully understood what was going on. Eduardo was so patient with us and explained everything so well as we slowly realized what needed to happen. Because of the situation, he gave us a price break on the snaking, and later even added an extra service gratis because the problem ended up being two different areas of root breakthrough rather than one. He worked all day, partly in the rain, barely taking a break. He showed us the damaged pipe once he reached it so we could fully understand the problem. He also showed us a future problem we will have (roots growing through the pipes, but under the street) that will require a different, more expensive plumber, but he assured us we didn't need that yet. I would hire Eduardo again in a heartbeat. We felt informed, educated, safe, and respected throughout. We felt we got value for our money because we felt he wanted to do his best for us at the best price. I highly recommend Eduardo and Oakland Rooter Plumbing.
Just wanted to write a review to not only give Oakland Rooter a shoutout for having great technicians on their team as we've called them twice now to come fix issues at our house in San Leandro and for both instances the technician was very friendly and helpful, but to also specifically shoutout Jose M. who came by for repairs on 5/24/25. I have been having issues with Water Pressure in a couple of the bathrooms and I tried so many DIY fixes (Extra Pressurized Shower Heads etc.), but then I figured it might be due to the house having old piping so I called to get a diagnosis and hopefully a fix for the issue. Jose M. came out bright and early around 8:30am on 05/24/25 and ended up spending majority of the day working away at the issue. Throughout the day as he was working he was very kind and explained not only the issue to me in simple terms for me to understand, but also the different things he was trying to see if they would be a good work around for now as I was trying to steer away from replacing all the old piping at once. I was seriously so impressed and grateful at not only his tireless work ethic, but that he was willing to help me find a way to get the Water Pressure working a bit better even just for now. I am very grateful for the great service Jose M. provided to us and he even gave me a quote to change all the piping whenever I'm ready. Overall it was a 10/10 experience and I will be using Oakland Rooter and requesting Jose M. again for any other issues.
Just had a wonderful experience with Jose M. from Oakland Rooter. We had a backup in our shower and toilet after the washer drained. It hadn't happened before and the backup relieved itself, but we were still concerned that there was a clog/block somewhere downpipe of the shower. Jose came out and checked the cleanout pipe and recreated the same situation. Ran the shower, flushed the toilet while draining the washer. He showed me the cleanout and how there wasn't an apparent blockage anymore. All pipes were draining. He showed me how to check for a block if it were to happen again. If water isnt getting to the cleanout, you will know there is a block and that snaking is needed. He explained it using an analogy of veins and arteries and it made a lot of sense. I am not well-versed in plumbing and having a plumber explain how household plumbing works in a very easy to understand manner and without judgement made the whole thing a true learning experience. I can now explain to the family how we can all check to see if we have an issue with our drains and where it might be located now that Jose explained how/where to look. Jose and Oakland Rooter made what was a nerve-wracking situation into a stress-free one. I called at 9am to for the initial service and Jose was at the house at noon. Amazing customer service from phone to arrival to service.
First, I wanna say that I ultimately went back to this company because they installed my tankless water heater and were really great to work with back in 2014. But yesterday, when my very kind housekeeper pointed out that I had a leak under my kitchen sink, I went looking for a plumber, having not remembered Oakland Rooter straight away. I found them on Yelp, saw the great reviews and so decided to call them again. First impressive thing was that they picked up the phone immediately. Next, the lady who helped me was professional and nice, and also had a same-day appointment within a two hour timeframe of when I was calling. Daniel, their excellent service technician, called me to confirm he was on the way and arrived within 30 minutes of my initial call. He then diagnosed and fixed it within another 30 minutes. Daniel was professional, friendly, was happy to answer questions and did an overall great job. I'm not going to say it was cheap but what can you expect for same-day service fixing the problem immediately. It wasn't horribly expensive, though, relatively speaking. If I have another plumbing issue, you can be sure Oakland Rooter and Plumbing is going to be the first place. I call next time.
I wish to give all my utmost compliments to ANDRES who showed up to help solve my plumbing problem in a lightning fast and super professional way. Having been a landlord for years and owning different properties, I often have to deal with repair issues of any nature one can and cannot imagine. Over the years, I have had countless unpleasant experiences with service providers, technicians, and repair companies of all shapes and sizes to a point I questioned myself repetitively why did I choose to own properties and also be a landlord !! My life is all about constantly dealing with issues very painfully. But, meeting ANDRES gave me renewed hope : ) I have got to say, having ANDRES helped me was the best repair experience I have had in many many years. I truly wish that he does more than just plumbing work. I would use ANDRES for any and every kind of work that he is capable of doing. Because he is trustworthy, a person with integrity, has righteous principles and pride in what he does. I know that I will NOT be getting a Mickey-Mouse-quality type repair and/or installation jobs out of ANDRES. Of equal or more importance, you won't too : )
Bought a 1928 house, and initially we wanted to get a few plumbing fixtures upgraded like shower head and adding dishwasher/refrigerator supplies. Then with the help of Jose Sanchez(there are 7 Jose at Oakland Rooter so ask for the best one 😄),we found rusted galvanized steel pipes. He didn't try to upsell and offered that he patched such pipes considering our budget constraints. But then there would be multiple patchworks over several years down the line, so we decided to go for repiping. The work involved replacing all the pipes and opening up drywall. Jose Sanchez and team really deserve a shout-out for their promptness and clean work. They guarantee their work, are licensed and a delight to work with(very respectful). Jose and the team advised me on the best approach to everything plumbing and then some. Lastly on prices, Jose provided the best quote I got and broke down the job by priority, and even offered drywall patching services. Jose helped with our bathroom makeover by installing marble slabs around the bathtub. Did I already mention that these people are a delight to work with?! :) Thank you for such a professional job Jose!
Yesterday morning, my wife and I noticed a leak in our downstairs bathroom and the ground was wet. We immediately searched around on Yelp for a plumber and Oakland Rooter & Plumbing was able to send somebody over within the hour. When the plumber stopped by, he carefully assessed the situation and explained his thinking aloud. He walked us through all the steps that he would take in order to try to fix the problem and gave us a full rundown of our options as well as the cost for each of those options. I appreciated that this guy was very honest. Instead of recommending the most expensive option right off the bat, he told us what he would do if it were his house, and how he would proceed if it did not work. I loved the thoroughness from start to finish. In the 40 minutes that the technician was on-site, he was able to unclog the back-up -- first trying with an auger and then using a traditional plunger. Getting a professional to stop by always feels a bit expensive but getting a same day appointment and the problem fixed right away is worth the peace of mind. Definitely would call up these guys again if I had another plumbing issue.
My bathtub/shower faucet decided to break late Friday afternoon before a long weekend (of course). The water was gushing out of the faucet and could not be turned off!! I called a few places recommended by friends and none could come out until the following Tuesday - yikes so much wasted water! Then on Sunday I decided to search yelp and found these amazing plumbers. I called on Sunday afternoon, and Ygnacio, the owner, answered immediately. After explaining my problem and doing a quick analysis over FaceTime, he confirmed he could send someone out to turn the water off, and then within an hour Alberto came to the rescue! Working with some challenging peculiarities of my situation, he quickly assessed and got the water off. So within maybe 2 hours of finding Oakland Rooter on yelp, on a Sunday, my issue was dealt with - and at an affordable price. No weekend overtime! Additionally, Alberto was very respectful of my health (high risk for COVID) and property - he wore a mask at my request and shoe covers which I was so grateful for. Honestly, these guys are awesome! Thanks Albeto and Ygnacio!
