They were very professional and willing to work with me on getting a timely inspection completed on HVAC & Electrical. The inspection reports and their timely service saved me from buying a mess of a home at a price that was way too high for the condition the prior owners left it in. I had hoped the reports would support more negotiations and I would be hiring Nicolas to do the work. Sadly the homeowner didn’t want to negotiate. But I would come back and use Nicolas again.
The Nichols Plumbing, Electrical, & HVAC plumbing specialist installed a water softener for my entire home. My experience with this business was positive. The plumber was informed and pleasant to work with. He was skilled and quickly resolved the hard water issue. PLEASE READ EDIT: Though I previously had a great experience with Nichols Mechanical, at this point I'm not sure what to think about their integrity. After I paid quite a bit for the installation of a water pressure regulator, a service required for me to get homeowner's insurance, the technician left me with the electrical component of a Moen Smart Valve and a vague mention of someone coming to finish the job. It's been three weeks now and I've not heard from them. We shall see... PLEASE READ NEW EDIT :) Today Nichols Mechanical came through in a wonderful way! Thank you so much for all of you expertise, communication, and the amazing way you all worked together to finish my high water pressure issue. Now my home warranty will cover claims on any plumbing issues in the future and I'm on my way to being able to get homeowner's insurance! Marvelous job!
I recently had Nichols Mechanical install 3 minisplits in my mobile home in Cottonwood. From the minute Michael walked in the door, I knew I was getting someone who knew what he was doing. That made me feel very confident in choosing Nichols Mechanical to install my equipment. I have seldom seen someone so throughly knowledgeable about the mechanics of a product. Usually you get a sales rep of some kind, not a true technician. I really enjoyed dealing with the entire crew at Nichols Mechanical, and already have them scheduled to do another job for me.
Their "expert" HVAC person Left my home on a Tuesday because he had given up and couldn't figure out what was going on with my recirculator pump for my heater. His words were , " I can't do anymore." Thursday they sent a plumber out who left without checking to make sure that the heat was actually working. Friday, They sent their "expert" HVAC person back out who then lied to me and said that someone would be back out today, Saturday. Michael was asked by both myself and the maintenance at my office to check in before he left the site for the night and he did not. I'm sitting here, Saturday a.m. waiting so I called their office and talked to Adam. No apologies for the fact that their HVAC person has been lying or the fact that I am now 8 days without heat thanks to their company. Then I asked well if you're coming out Monday. What time? Because I need to be able to tell my clients what time to come to my home and I've had to reschedule them already and he said he didn't know cuz he wasn't in the office. This doesn't constitute an emergency? The company's integrity sincerely sucks. All of their workers sincerely suck. I have begged my apartment complex to never do business with these people again. And this is how they've left my home for 8 days
This Company was assigned to me by my Home Warranty Co. For a plumbing issue. As I had two blocked toilets. (This information was of course given to Nichols Mechanical at the time of the service request...) Well.. The Tech arrived and went into the bathrooms, looked at the blocked toilets. ( BTW. Clear water.) Took a couple of Pics. Then proceeded to tell me he did not have a Drain Snake /Cleaner with him !!! This of course was ridiculous .. After a short conversation with the Tech !! He made another appointment for the next morning to bring the proper equipment to clear the stoppage.. Also by this time the water had seeped into the tub.. Next Day.. He appeared and began to try and clear the stoppage.. After about an hour of work .. He told me he could not clear the problem.... By this time my confidence with this Tech was gone!! And now as I have totally lost all Confidence in this Co. Due to the Lack of Professionalism and Service. I now know have to start from scratch to get my Problem Resolved !! Ohh ! Just to let you know . His conclusion was that I had a Real Big issue ... And that his Co. could fix for $5,600.. With no Proof at all ie. (Running a camera down the Drain ! ) Can anyone say Rip Off !! In closing Be Aware of Nichols Mechanical.
I want to give David with Nichols Mechanical a shout out! What great customer service! Another company came out to this morning to fix our air conditioner and it already wasn't working again when we got home from work! I called them right away before 4 o'clock and they didn't answer the phone! Then at 4:17 I tried again and of course their closed! I already waited for the company to come since last Saturday! Anyways I called my home warranty company to tell them to dispatch another company that'll come sooner but they said they just dispatch and it's up to the independent contractors to schedule when they come out so I called them all and found David with Nichols mechanical (the owner himself) willing to come out tonight on his way home from picking up groceries at Costco. He worked until 8 tonight in the dark to get us up and running! So far so good! Funny thing is he just replaced the same thing the company this morning replaced so either it was a faulty compressor fan motor or the company replaced it with a used one that didn't work long! I'm not sure what happened but I sure am excited that David came to the rescue! I truly appreciate him working late when no one else would and got us going! It's been so hot in our house for a week! I'd recommend this guy to everyone! He literally was fixing ours and talking to one of his technicians helping him to fix another unit somewhere else! This guy is my hero tonight and I hope he has a blessed weekend! He literally put his food on ice in order to help us before heading back home to cottonwood! What a great guy! I'll request him next time! Here's to getting some sleep tonight with air! If you need any work done please give this guy a call! His name was David Nichols with Nichols Mechanical! His wifes name was Desiree and was very pleasant to speak with as well! I'm calling my old republic home warranty company tomorrow to let them know this company was wonderful to work with and he came after hours even just to get us running which old republic has contracts with companies so most won't come after hours cuz they don't get paid anymore which is why I want to throw people his way because he deserves it and in my opinion went above and beyond! That's what'll make him stand out above the rest!
I have hesitated on posting a review because I am so overwhelmed with gratitude that I've been at a loss for words. This company did for me and my family something that you hear happens to others but never to yourself. After the last couple years having HVAC issues last year our air conditioner finally stopped working completely. Along with this, issue our roof was done for, rain came into our skylights and black mold formed, our stairs were a wreck.....candid camera is what it felt like. Hales Roofing provided the first miracle for us and this incredible good deed was put on the front page of the local paper. The community began to comment and give kudos to Hales for what they did for us. This is when Nichols Mechanicals commented on the post to contact them to see how they could help. I called Adam Benites who I believe is their Sales Manager and could not believe what I was hearing. Adam spoke to the owner David Nichols and they began a plan to assist us so we did not go thru the summer with no air conditioning. Within 2 weeks we were blessed by Hales Roofing and Nichols Mechanical with the biggest essentials any homeowner needs , a roof to keep the water out, and an air conditioner to keep us cool during the summer. I was beyond in shock. The entire process from the intitial comment on the Hales post, to meeting the owner David and Adam, to the guys who came out to my house to install the unit and to Steven the Install Manager they were professional, polite, compassionate, caring, honest, and just beautiful inside and out. This is a company that I did not contact for any type of assistance that took time from their day to comment and change our life. They had no obligation, they had no pressure to have to do anything. This is the company for locals to go to for sure. This is the company to go to for the minor services as well as the big ones because just this act of kindness separates them from the rest.....I will always tell my friends, family and strangers alike that this is the company to go to for services. They did something that is unheard of and because of that I wish them huge success, big big blessings and my forever gratitude. Thank you Nichols Mechanical for your kindness.
My experience with Nichols Mechanical was miserable. On 2/3/23 at 4:45pm, my water heater was leaking. I called my homeowner warranty company and they assigned Nichols. I contacted them to see when I would be on the schedule and informed them I was leaving the country for a week. they were responsive and helpful, but not able to get me on the schedule until 2/10. I advised them I wouldn't be back home until 2/11 and would appreciate being put on the schedule then. when I got back into the country, I had several messages from one of the staff advising me they wanted to schedule my service. I spoke to them and asked if they received my request to be put on the schedule for 2/11. the staff member said he knew nothing about that. so now I had to wait unite Monday before they knew anything further, including whether the home warranty company had shipped them the water heater. Monday morning I had to call them to get an update. The staff member told me that the home warranty company had not received the claim information they submitted. the staff member placed blame on the home warranty company for not receiving their submission. after several more calls to their office, they told me the claim was processed and they will be able to get the water heater in a week or so and then put me on the schedule. This was because they are a remote store and all items are shipped to a warehouse which they only go to once a week. On top of all that, the owner told the home warranty company that he would be charging me $1350 for other parts not covered by the warranty. when I inquired, he told me that I needed all theses additional valves. when I asked additional questions, he said that he does not make any money on this warranty job. so he was basically up charging me to make the job profitable for him. I called a local plumber who said he would pick up an industrial quality water heater and be at my home in 60 minutes. Total cost $1250. I chose the cash out option from the home warranty, which was $468. shame on Nichols Mechanical
Ordered the wrong unit. Their tech Andrew first visit was in the morning, for about 10 minutes, when he told me it was a simple fix. Lint was on the ignition starter and was not communicating with the unit. The fix lasted about 10 minutes. I called their office and Siearra said that Andrew was already too far and would have to return in the afternoon. When Andrew showed up for the second time, he informed me that it was the mother board on the unit, was shorted and it had to be ordered. When I asked how long he thought it would take, Andrew told me it would be in at the end of the week, and he would be back to install it. When I called on Friday, I was told that they were not sure if the part was delivered and would have to call me back. That never happened so I called on Monday morning to hear that it snowed and that their parts guy did not show up. So, I called Tuesday morning and was told that they had the part and would be at my house by 11am, Then I got a call back saying that this needed to be rescheduled and he would not be able to get there between 1pm and 3pm. At 3pm Andrew called me and said he will not be able to get their until 3:30pm. When he showed up, he said that it would take about 10 minutes to install the board. Shortly after that Andrew says that the company ordered the wrong part and that they might have the part at the shop. I ask him to call the company to check and his reply was NO ONE is at office 4:40pm and everyone had left for the day, and that he was going to do me a "SOLID" and check in the morning to see if they had one. Not sure why I would need a favor when I am the customer. Told me that he would call me by 8:30 am the next day to let me know and to see if he could fit me into his schedule. Well, that happened either way. This company is very unprofessional, and Andrew was very rude when I asked him if he would send me the tracking # so that I could check the progress of the part. Told me that it is against company policy.
Nichols was referred to us by our home warranty company for issues with our tankless water heater. In the event you don't want to read the details below the BOTTOM LINE IS THAT I WOULD NEVER EVER RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE AND IT WAS THE WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED! They came out on July 6 to inspect the water heater. Very nice guy and explained in detail the issue and next steps relative to dealing with the home warranty. That is where the good part of this review stops. Over the next 18 days I contacted them repeatedly to find out the status of the proposal and cost to the home warranty company. Every time I called they had to follow up with the individual who came to our house to see if they had submitted the proposal to the home warranty company yet. I don't recall ever getting a follow up call from them to tell me the status. Rather I had to continually call them back for an update. As I loudly complained after about 2 weeks of nothing happening the response was that they would likely need to get the owners involved in this situation, which I was glad to hear. However, never heard from them. When I followed up once again no one answered so I called the home warranty company for the first time on July 20 to see if they had received anything from Nichols yet. They had not......unbelievable! They said they would reach out to them directly. I contact Nichols on Monday, July 24 who tells me that the warranty company cancelled the request! Are you kidding me. So I call the home warranty company who informs me that since they had never heard or received anything from Nichols they cancelled the request for their services. THANKS NICHOLS FOR WASTING MY 19 DAYS. NOW I GET TO START OVER! Oh, did I mention that not once did they apologize or say they are sorry. FUMING MAD IN AZ!
This company was hired by my Home Warranty Co. to replace a defective AC/Heat Unit. The tech showed up and confirmed the replacement. That was the last we heard from them. Called to check in and was told they were waiting for the unit that was still on order. 3 months later, after several calls, was told again "No, we do not have the replacement unit", so I called the Insurance Co and the agent checked and said, "Yes, the unit had been delivered." He put me on hold and called the exact same person who had just told me that they DID NOT HAVE the unit, and was told that Yes, they DID HAVE the unit. UGGGGH!! How many times can you get contradictory stories before blowing your stack? I called the installer company rep again and she said I needed to pay extra for some installation fee difference. I again ask if they had the unit at their location and she said "No they were still waiting for it" . So I blew my stack. I ask to speak to someone else but she said she was the office manager and I couldn't talk to anyone else. The Insurance CO. then called and said that they now refuse to do the work because I was obnoxious on the phone. Get this! They were returning the unit to the supplier! The unit that they never received! THANK GOD! I was rid of them and their constant misinformation and down right ignoring the work order for 3 months. NEVER once did they initiate a call to me to update me on the progress of the job. A new company has been reassigned to do the job. Check the other reviews, notice how many 1 star rating they have and then decide for yourself.
See my review on Jungle Cat air conditioning for my story leading up to being referred to Nichols Mechanical by my home warranty. Initially when I got their call to schedule a time for them to come out, they told me it would be a week out. I told them I understood how busy everyone is right now but that it was still really upsetting because of the Jungle Cat experience and the home warranty rep promising me she had called ahead before assigning me to them. The warranty rep had guaranteed me that they would be out in 24-48 hours. Susan said that they had not asked them to be out that soon and would have told them it wasn't possible (I believe her, the customer service with my home warranty has been as HORRIBLE as my experience with Jungle Cat). She was so kind and understanding of my situation (add to everything that happened in the week prior to this, I have a family of 6 with a 2 yr old and one on the way and I am a very high risk pregnancy as it is. None of this seemed to make a difference in how I was treated leading up to this, and on the hottest week of the year with 100+ temps) and was able to get a report in to my home warranty SAME DAY after hearing me out! I just got a call from her saying to check my email. Not only did they service me same day, but they got my warranty to approve REPLACING my AC, when I was sure the warranty was going to do everything they could to not replace it! I legit cried when she told me the news. Such wonderful customer service! Susan is an angel and I highly recommend this company to anyone!
First American Home Warranty selected this contractor to evaluate and provide a work order for a major plumbing leak that flooded the basement in my rental property in Verde Valley. Over 1 month after the initial contact, Nichols failed to produce any estimates to FAHW. During that month, I actually authorized Nichols to install the damaged hot water heater in order to honor and secure a guest booking for the property. I was up-charged ($4500 for heater and install) due to my desperation to get the house useable again (I take full responsibility for this decision but still was taken advantage of by Nichols). After that install, there was no noticeable attempt by Nichols to assist in the additional plumbing repairs. In fact, during one contact, I was told that they closed the claim from First American, which I promptly requested them to continue. Subsequently, another contractor has been contacted due to the lack of follow-up and contact from Nichols. If they are assigned for your repairs, request another contractor that might provide better follow-up and customer service.
This company is garbage. If you have First American home warranty as your home warranty company for A/C, heating, or plumbing in Northern Arizona be prepared to be assigned and have to deal with the owner of Nichols Mechanical, Dave. If anything, he is definitely one of the top 2 in his area! Top 2 most incompetent business owner I've ever encountered, and he throws the top 2 biggest adult temper tantrums I've ever encountered. Also be prepared for his company to refuse to provided you with detailed invoices on the "additional" items you are being charged for outside of your warranty, and be prepare to have him cancel your service request after he has the temper tantrum for being questioned. He knows customers have to start the claim process over again with First American after he cancels the order, causing you further delays. Hopefully he has put me on his list of customers to NEVER service again through First American and declines any service requests I submit through my home warranty so I don't ever have to deal with this sideshow ever again!
From the friendly and knowledgeable person who took my calls, Sierra, to the diligent and thorough technician Mike who serviced my unit, I had a great experience with Nichols Mechanical so far. They came across as honest and highly professional. Mike pretty much put my entire massive old unit apart and found all kinds of weirdness including a fried centipede in the wiring, and burnt out wires that he fixed. Although it was just a routine check-up job, and Mike had to leave in a hurry because his boss was insistently calling him to be at a different job so he didn’t even have a chance to check if the unit was working after he put it back together, I could see that he gave it all he had. I found out on my own that the unit is working better now and I am very pleased. I was looking for a new honest and reliable HVAC company and I believe I found it. Thank you, Nichols Mechanical!
