What To Watch Out For
High-pressure sales pitch and oversized equipment quotes — one reviewer was quoted $16,000 for an 80,000-BTU furnace in a 700sf condo.
Warranty-work billing surprises — one reviewer was emailed a bill in February for November warranty work they never signed an estimate for.

I have seen Goettl's trucks around town and just the other day I was behind one of their vans in my community. Now, 99% of the time most other companies are totally ignoring the speed limit signs. Well, NOT Goettl's, so I decided to call the office and thank them and hopefully to let the driver know that I appreciate it. The office called me back and I asked that they please the let the driver of number..... know that I appreciated it. As we were talking she asked if i needed anything addressed, and guess what--I do. So, I made an appointment and today John came out. If I were Mr. Goettls, I would want John working for me...Respectul, clean cut, friendly, knowledgeable....and not a wasted move. I forgot to mention cleanliness.....everything seemed fine and just needed some attention...we decided to sign up for the yearly inspection. If you are looking for someone to work on your furnace or do some plumbing or if you just want to get it looked at, I highly recommend Goettl's and ask for John. We will request him anytime we have an issue....Thank you John and Thank You Goettls'!!!
I was very impressed with Samuel Kaler. He arrived precisely on time, evaluated the situation, and gave me my options. Even though the model of my unit has been discontinued, he found the information necessary and did a very thorough and complete job. I could not be happier and recommend him highly for his expertise, hie work ethic, and his communication skills in showing me what needed to be done. Five stars well deserved.
I was fortunate to have Trevor lay who has 24 years experience. He was nice, professional, and took time to explain exactly what I have and how it worked. I even joined him up in the attic to see the system up there, which doesn’t make any sense to me. I worked with Ella to set my appointment. Once we figured out if it was going to be a morning or an afternoon time, it was great. One thing I would say is that they do need to give people a AM or a p.m. time. That way people have time to run to town and get other things done if need be. Thank you for being so kind and patient now I know why you have 24 years with the company I WOULD RECOMMEND
Worst. Company. Ever. We had to call them to fix a pinched wire that was obviously an installation error. We were without heat for 2 weeks at Thanksgiving. They came out and fixed it under the warranty but then they put in a bad part (circuit board). It took months for them to come out to fix it and never once did they have us sign an estimate or tell us that we would be charged for the work that they installed badly to begin with. They are dishonest and now want us to pay for their mistake. Suddenly in February they emailed us a bill and are charging us for warranty work they did in November, months later, at $1,400 an hour!!! They don't stand behind their work and practically everyone in our subdivision is having issues with them and their inferior workmanship, dishonesty and over charging. Don't call them!! They will also try to sell you a service package that is way overpriced to maintain your system. Beware if they tell you they need to replace your circuit board!! If you scroll down and read other reviews, this seems to be their go-to in order to overcharge customers.
I am highly disappointed with the service, price, and high pressure sales pitch, and communication. During a maintenance call for my 700sf condo, the technician quoted me over $16,000 to replace a the furnace (not even the AC). The quote was for a furnace of 80,000 BYU, much bigger than I needed, but he also said he could offer me a "ghetto unit" for $13,000. At the time, my furnace was functional (but old). In addition, as part of this conversation, he told me that my unit was "dangerous" and that he should "red tag" it or someone could get sick. He did not red tag it or shut down the unit, but he left and called the gas company, who later showed up and confirmed there was no carbon monoxide. When the technician emailed me the quote with this information, he only shared generic, unlabeled photos of my furnace, so while I was reviewing the quote, I asked for pictures of the carbon monoxide reading and the crack. Four days later, they responded with an image with a reading of 6ppm (which is low and NOT grounds for a red tag). In addition, the heat exchanger image showed discoloration and surface wear but no visible cracks. In the meantime, two local licensed HVAC companies inspected my unit. One replaced it for under $5,000 that same week. Both called the Goettls' quote and diagnostic "outrageous," and neither of them found a crack. They told me it needed a new valve but was also old and would be due for replacement soon. I am glad that I got my furnace fixed by another company, but it was unfortunate to have to deal with what felt like high pressure sales pitches and hardball approaches. When a company quotes me over $16,000 to replace a furnace (with no A/C), calling it "dangerous," and I find another company to do it two days later at a fraction of the cost, I can't help but feel they are trying to take advantage of me. Updated to add the generic and unlabeled photos of my furnace that Goettls sent me in an email.
I am a 64-year-old woman and the following is my experience with Goettl’s. On 2/18/26, my HVAC heat system stopped working. On 2/19/26, the technician (I won’t write his name) with Goettl’s drove up to my house in a very nice, clean looking vehicle. He had on a very nice and tidy uniform. He appeared to know what he was doing so I trusted what he told me he was going to do to fix my HVAC unit. He spent some time looking at my furnace unit and took lots of pictures. He gave me some estimates on the work needed, along with the prices, to get my HVAC furnace working again. I felt confident in his suggestions and chose the estimate I felt comfortable with. He replaced the air blower motor on my HVAC unit and did some other work.but the motor did not work. He gave me an estimate of approximately $1,640 to have a new circuit board installed so the motor would run and the HVAC unit would work again. I told him I had to put everything on hold and get more work approved before I could make a decision on spending more money on the unit. The technician insisted I pay for his services rendered, which I begrudgingly paid. He wanted me to sign my name stating I was satisfied with his work rendered. I told him I couldn’t sign my name in that area of the contract because the furnace wasn’t working. He became visibly upset and asked my why I wouldn’t sign my name to it. I became very nervous and told him I wasn’t even comfortable paying for the work he did because the furnace didn’t work. I wasn’t satisfied with his work so I wouldn’t sign my name. He threatened to call management and have them come to my property and they would all tear out every part he had installed in the furnace and leave the furnace in disrepair. I told him it was time he left my house. He said he was going to go outside and call management to find out what they wanted him to do and he would let me know what they decide. I waited inside for quite awhile. I could hear him walking around on the roof. I didn’t know if he was removing parts from the furnace he had installed or not. I went outside and asked what he was doing. He said he was closing up the furnace and putting tools away. As he left the property I asked if he talked to management & he said as long as the services were paid for, it didn’t matter to Goettl’s if I was satisfied with the work he performed or not. Today is 2/20/26, and my HVAC unit is still not working and my house is still freezing. I don’t know if a new motor is still installed in my furnace or if it was removed. I don’t know what’s working in my HVAC unit or what is not. I believe Goettl’s puts a lot of pressure on their technicians & employees to get good approval ratings from the customer surveys. I would like to be able to write another survey saying Goettl’s ended up fixing my HVAC unit as they had promised, but I won’t hold my breath. I’ll let my dad deal with the next technician that comes to my house because I’m done. Thanks for listening.
BEFORE YOU DECIDE ON GOETTL'S HIGH DESERT MECHANICAL FOR HVAC SERVICE, SHOP AROUND I recently had need for service to repair a broken A/C condenser drainline. I called a few places and it seems the norm is a 95$ fee to come out, asses the problem and give an estimate for repair. The repair cost is above and beyond the 95$ house call charge. I get that. Most places charge by the hour, Goettl's charges by the job. I chose Goettl's because they were the company that installed the HVAC in my house when it was built 7 years ago. The technician they sent out, Ben, was great. Young, smart, professional, on-time and pleasant. He arrived early, went into the attic, assessed the problem, came down 10 minutes later and told me what the problem was and had an estimate ready as to the cost of repair. The estimate was 257$. I ASSUMED (my fault) that it must be a difficult repair and the charge was based on some formula for how much time it would take for that much money. I was already in to the project for 95$ for the house call charge. He said he could fix it "now", I said OK. He went up, came down in approximately 35 minutes, informed me that the repair was complete and showed pictures of the repaired drainline. I said "that was quick", his reply was to the effect of "it was an easy repair". The charge was still 257$. After he left I was feeling like that was an exorbitant amount of money for a 35 minute repair, somewhere in the neighborhood of 375$/hr labor plus maybe 7$ in PVC fittings. I contacted GOETTL'S 2 times over the next 3 days through their contact link on the website to discuss the charge. I got no reply. I called and talked to a customer service person who explained that they charge by the job and if the job takes longer than expected or shorter that the charge is the same. I still felt the charge was way out of line and she said I'll put you through to the service manager. I got his voicemail. I left a message asking him to call me regarding the charge for my repair, 3 more days and no reply. So here we are. Bottom Line: The repair technician Ben was great, the repair looked great. The follow -up customer service was poor, the charge was exorbitant and overall I feel like I was taken advantage of and overcharged for a simple repair. I would not recommend using GOETTL'S until you've shopped around unless cost doesn't matter to you.
I waited a year to post this review to make sure that the repair done to my air conditioning unit (by a different company) would last over the seasons. In May of 2022, I had Goettl's come out to perform a routine service of my air conditioning unit. The technician that came to the house told me that I needed to have another piece of equipment added to my AC unit at the cost of almost $300.00. He also set me up with an annual maintenance agreement at a cost of over $250.00 which I accepted because I wanted to set up a relationship with a single company to service the equipment. He didn't have furnace filters on his truck to replace the ones on my system and told me he was going to have them delivered. I found it odd that they would not have these on their service vehicles. After he left, the unit did not seem to cool the house properly and I contacted Goettl's again. They sent a different technician out and once he looked at the equipment, he told me that the first technician had installed the added equipment incorrectly and he would correct the problem. He also told me that I might need a new AC unit installed at a cost of around $12,000-14,000 and he would set up an appointment with a sales rep to give an estimate. Concerned that the unit had been working before they "serviced" it, I contacted a different company to look at the equipment. This technician went up on the roof to look at the unit and discovered that Goettl's technician had left the cap to the Freon loose allowing it to escape the system. He recharged the system with freon and said that if there was a leak, it would show up in a few days and the system would stop cooling again. It has been over a year now, and even in this heatwave that Arizona has been in, the unit has worked perfectly. Goettl's called me earlier this spring to schedule the "Service" that I had paid for, and I told them I would not allow them back on my property due to the horrible experience and that I would like someone in management to contact me. They never did. They never even delivered the furnace filters that were included in the agreement and promised. I would NOT recommend Goettl's to anyone looking for heating and cooling services.
Geottls is the worst company that I've ever worked with, whereby they blew out the power in my kitchen and two bathrooms twice, while working in my power box without a license electrician, as well as, didn't fasten down the wires, nor did they put in the right amperage, so it almost burnt down the house according to a licensed electrician that I had to hire afterwards and that was just when installing the air conditioner. Then, they told me I needed a new heating system because my old one wasn't compatible with their air conditioner, which now I come to find out that I never needed it, as it was just a sales scam. After installing the new heater we had countless problems which led to a total of approximately 18 to 20 visits afterwards to try to fix. The first teeter had problems with a switcher inside and then it was decided that another switcher went bad as well. They then removed that heater and had to install a second heater which had two water leaks, due to them installing the wrong size tubing, as well as, they didn't insulate the water pipes that they ran up into the attic and outside to drain the condensation which froze, they had kinks in the hose prior to it going outside so the water backed up and it couldn't drain out and therefore it flowed back into the pump and burnt the pump out. backed up into the pump and burnt out. Then they found out they installed the wrong heater the second time and wanted to come back and and install a third one. But before they could do it we discovered that the head manager named Art lied to us and never followed through on any of their promises, so we sent them away. Obviously, they are the worst company that we have ever worked with and would warn anyone who's listening to this review to go to another company. Now we're forced to go to the R.O.C. and seek legal assistance in efforts to get our money back and get this broken heater out of here. Buyer Beware!
If I could rate them a ZERE I would! They installed the furnace/AC in my new home (and dozens of others in our new development in May '25) and the furnace went out completely in early March when overnight temps were in the 40s. Guy came out (Friday) and said they would have the part on Monday (strange they didn't have a common fuse in stock for same system every one of my neighbors have), which I was cool with, and just used my gas fireplace to heat the house.... nearly 24/7 to keep up at night and get ahead before night came and it cooled off again. Monday came and I got a call that it would now be Thursday .... a week with no heat. I tried to escalate and was told they had to wait for a "warranty replacement" from the manufacturer, which was going to take several days. I went online and found the part and could have had it in 24 hours. I asked why Goettl didn't just order the part and get it fixed and take the warranty part and add it to their inventory so they have one the next time they botch and installation? Sorry..... can't do the smart thing and literally leave our customers in the cold when we got it wrong in the first place! They offered to let me come and pick up an electric space heater to help .... I live in an open floorplan home and not in a single room of my home so not really a great option. I asked who's going to help pay my gas bill for the month since it tripled.... ummm.... yaa .... not them. Asked for a manager to contact me if there was anything at all that they could do to help make this right ..... still waiting. Will be telling every new neighbor we have to get an independent inspection and don't trust Goettl to do the job right or take care of their prior customers.
We had an annual service contract with Goettl and scheduled our routine service. Immediately after they left, we noticed an odd sound coming from our kitchen sink — an issue that did not exist before their visit. We hoped it would resolve on its own, but it didn’t, so we had them return. We were charged for that visit. After the second visit, we were left with a new problem: a very loud noise coming from our RO system, loud enough to disturb sleep. When I called to have them come back, they were booked out two weeks, and then pushed our appointment back another week. The representative I spoke with was short, unhelpful, and refused to provide a supervisor’s name when asked. At that point, I contacted another plumber. They found that one of the RO filters had been installed incorrectly by Goettl, which was the cause of the noise. Goettl had charged $320 to replace the filters, and the work was not done properly. The second plumber also confirmed the water quality was not where it should have been based on Goettl’s service. To add to the frustration, the other company — Epic Plumbing — completed the repair correctly for $180. We spent $420 with Goettl's to then have to pay $180 to someone else to make it right. If you want to pay more and risk having the job done incorrectly, Goettl is an option. Based on our experience, we will not be using them again. Of note, I always try first to address these matters with management. Their website gives no means to contact them other than to book appointments, refer someone, or seek employment. I certainly won't be calling to speak with their office again!
Today was my second visit on an annual contract. When I called to set up the appointment, the receptionist said he would not need to get into the attic. When he arrived he said he would need to get into the attic, so I had to frantically pull out stuff from the closet and put towels over the clothes. She also said they had my filter size and that he would replace the filter. He did not replace the filter. I also told her that due to a health condition of mine if the tech did need to come into the house he would need to wear a mask. She said all the techs have masks in their truck. When he arrived and started to come into the house, he had no mask on and knew nothing about needing one. I told him he needed one and he said he ran out. But the way he hemmed and hawd, I knew he never had masks in his truck. After he left, I checked the closet. There was a tennis ball size piece of fiberglass on the floor that he just left there. It's a small closet and anyone would be able to see the fiberglass. And when I checked the hatch to the attic, he hadn't replaced the sheet of insulation that sits on top of it. I took a risk and climbed up a ladder and with a broom dragged the large piece of insulation across several feet of blown insulation and placed it on top of the hatch. This resulted in getting blown insulation and more fiberglass on the floor and all over me. But he sure tried to sell me on installing a surge protector on the A/C for $432 and to renew the service contract for $125.
I wanted to like this company but unfortunately I cannot trust them. I asked them to come out and repair a loose shower handle and very minor drip/leak. It took 3 weeks to get an appointment. When the appointment day came, I was given no time window and my husband had to wait around the house the entire day. When they did arrive toward the the end of the day, the technician spent more time searching for bigger ticket projects than actually addressing the problem. A dripping shower turned into an excavation estimate to install a water pressure regulator and a full water heater replacement, none of which we asked for. I understand wanting to 'diagnose a problem' but we already knew the problem which we communicated. We eventually had to ask the technician to leave with no realistic fix and a wasted $95 charge for their time. I received 4 estimates in total, ranging from $4,000 - $10,000. Remember, the call was for a minor shower leak. My husband spent an hour on YouTube and fixed the problem with a $60 part. (Yes, it's fixed and working perfectly.) This was an extremely low stakes situation. Imagine if something was seriously wrong and required immediate action? I have absolutely no trust they wouldn't take me to the cleaners with an over the top, completely unnecessary 'solution'. I will never use them again for anything, there is zero trust here.
Get a second opinion. Our AC stopped working and we called Goettl's to come take a look. I was happy they fit us in since everyone else was busy. The tech came out near the end of the day. He seemed knowledgeable but almost seemed angry about the placement of the compressor at our house, which is under an overhang. He ultimately decided the problem was a bad high pressure switch and was convinced it had worn out due to the placement of the unit. He presented me with estimates ranging from over $2000 to over $4000 for the repair. The highest estimate included relocating the unit. We went ahead and asked them to do the lower cost repair and they said they would have to order the part. While we were waiting on that, Prescott Air Conditioning and Heating, one of the companies we had contacted previously, called and said their schedule had freed up and asked if we still needed help. I figured it couldn't hurt to get a second opinion. It turns out the high pressure switch was fine, a rodent had just chewed through the wire. $200 later and we were back up and running. Clearly the Goettl's tech shortcutted his diagnostics, the chewed wire was clearly visible. Very disappointed with Goettl's and can't praise Prescott Air Conditioning and Heating enough.
Highly recommend. From requesting an estimate to the final quality control inspection, top notch service. Would like to give a shout out to Max, Hank, Tyler, JJ, Greg and Roger. And to all of the lady's in the office. The service you provide is rare now a days. Was a great experience. 1/2026 UPDATE - The service has declined since our initial contact when having our new A/C installed. Although it was a Saturday, I would have preferred to leave a voice message and have someone return my call. Instead, I received an AI generated recording to wich I do not like. Someone did notice that I had called a few times and did actually return my call. Service was not what we received previously. We did not receive ANY notifications as to when the technician would arrive. He just showed up. He gave a great sales pitch but did not have many low cost solutions for the current issue. The cover that was removed from the wall mounted tankless water heater was not put back on properly. And there was only 1 screw holding the cover as we discovered when another company came to give us a quote. Shotty service. Service is always a priority for us. Just hard to find in this state.
