Casey and Tony were the techs that replaced my Furnace and AC. After getting quotes from multiple companies My Buddy had the most bang for your buck. Air purifier was the icing on the cake. Casey and Tony were professional, cordial, clean and fast! They broke down the information so I could understand it and even swept my utilities closet. highly highly recommend them and will be requesting them in the future. Thank you guys so much! Me and my family very much appreciate it!
Derek D. and Hayden came today and installed much need faucets, and repaired my toilet which was loose and running all the time. They were professional, explained what needed to be done and the cost was super reasonable!! I appreciated the professionalism, neatness, and they were on time. Thank you!! I will be using you again in the future!!
They came the day after the earthquake here in Magna. Daniel looked at my water heater and between the both of us came up with a game plan to get our house back into shape. Unfortunately the water heater we had installed when we first moved in was replaced incorrectly. I explained that when you guys came to fix our AC unit and replace our furnace that our water heater was out of code. Expansion tank on the hot side. No earthquake straps. Wrong piping. Missing parts. No sediment trap on the gas line. Etc.Daniel took the time to listen and showed compassion for what we had gone thru. He offered solutions and advice that was greatly appreciated in a stressful situation. He came the next morning and explained every little detail on what he was going to do. We also found out that the water pressure was not where it was supposed to be. He explained that average range is between 50-80. Our house was 112. So our pressure regulator was the problem. He was a great help and I hope the owner Brandon( Daniel couldn't stop praising him at every chance he could) will see this and Give Daniel the recognition he deserves. You guys have come to our rescue multiple times now and I will continue to call on you guys even when we move. I have told multiple people to call if they need anything. 07/13 New service. We had our water main break and they once again came to our rescue. Brian was out within the service hours and said he would make sure we got taken care of. We don't have enough words to thank this company for how many times they have come and treated us with compassion and respect for our house issues.
I do not recommend this company. They installed a shower head and faucet that we purchased ourselves before hand, but charged us the same price as if we didn't buy it. The manager way over charged us for labor, even though the job ended up not as complicated as initially thought. We needed things done, and waited for 3 days for them to even come in the first place. I'm very disappointed in this company for taking advantage of us.
Four calls, more than 1.5 hours on auto-hold, 3 voicemails, and attempts to contact online, all over 2 weeks but have never received a response from this company. I don't know what they're doing over there but it doesn't seem to be helping customers. I persisted only because they were recommended by another company. I eventually called someone else and had an appointment within the day. Don't waste your time with this company - they apparently don't need or want the business.
See BBB rating DON"T TRUST reviews They charged $523.00 to put a 35 cent washer on a leaking cold water tub faucet. They told my tenant that they needed to come back and charge another $700+ to come back and replace the manifold (a $60 part that shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes). They even lied on the bill. The bill claims they removed and replaced the seats.... They did not replace the seats.. They lied!!! When you call them, they let you know the phone conversation is recorded. I recorded my own conversation with them. I have "Derek" the plumber saying that he did NOT replace the seats yet his $523.00 invoice says that he did. I called and spoke to a manager and at first he seemed ok but quickly tried to justify the charges. They tried to claim they did a “rebuild.” By “rebuild” they meant they put a $16.00 valve stem and new handle ($10.00). The ONLY thing he did that even helped a bit was to put on. 35 cent washer. I am reporting them to all agencies I can as well as taking them to small claims court. In court, I will bring a video from ringing the doorbell to fixing the faucet for less than $2.54 and less than 10 minutes!!! In court I will also take the entire manifold out of my house and bring it to the judge. I will be able to show EVERYTHING the plumber did do and what they were trying to charge nearly $1,300 for. Maybe these guys aren’t all criminals but at least one plumber and that plumbers manager are at best unethical. I’m actually looking forward to showing the judge how blatantly crooked these guys are. Again… they charged my tenant $523.00 when the only thing that needed to be done is replace a 35 cent washer and $2.70 seat. The job should have taken 10 minutes total. The plumber claimed he couldnt get the seat out thus why he wanted to charge an additional $700+ to change the $60.00 manifold. I, the homeowner, EASILY was able to change this seat… EASILY! The plumber either forgot “righty tighty… lefty loosy” OR he was purposely being unethical. Even if he really thought the entire manifold needed replaced, parts would be less than $70.00 and absolutely no longer than 30 minutes. I will prove this when I take them to court! As a note, I asked them to email me letting me know they were issuing a refund or to provide a detailed justification for their bill or I was taking this to the next steps. I have not heard back from them so I’m now suspecting it is more than just one plumber and one manager. DO NOT TRUST THEIR PRETTY WEBPAGE AND GLOWING REVIEWS!!!! I will update this review with the court case and number so that you can look it up. Yes,,, I’m upset and don’t like it when people like this take advantage of trusting people. Again.. they were trying to get $1,300 to fix a drip that parts should be $2.60 and 10 minutes. If My Buddy The Plumber tries to respond to this review but states they dont have me in their system… They need to look up the multiple emails I sent over the past week regarding “Tyler and Derek” as well as the emails with subject line “Attn: Owner.” My Buddy The Plumber needs to provide a refund. “Maybe” they could keep a $49.00 service fee, 10 minutes work and .35 parts. That’s it. I’ve given them more than three weeks to contact me. I have contacted the Utah Licensing Board for them to investigate and will continue to file complaints with the Better Business Bureau. I will also get my experience with them posted on Angie’s List, Home Advisor, Yelp and any other website for reviews. The invoice that my tenant paid, clearly states the plumber “replaced the seats.” as justification for the $523.00 charge. This is a flat out lie. I am the one that replaced the seats. If they had replaced the seats, the problem would have been fixed. You decide… Do you want to hire a company that charged $523.00 for a 10 minute job and 35 cent washer and still had the nerve to ask for another $700.00 to fix a problem that didn’t exist? Even if the entire manifold needed replaced, the parts would be less than $70.00 and 30 minutes time. You've been warned.....
Based on unsatisfactory service we received I do not have confidence in the abilities and knowledge of the plumber from My Buddy who "installed" a hot water heater for us. The hot water heater we inherited upon purchasing the home was leaking and we called My Buddy for an estimate on installing a new one. The manner in which the estimate was handled should have been a red flag as several incorrect quotes were sent over (wrong price, wrong size of water heater) before we finally agreed to allow them to replace and install. At the time of install we received more incorrect information from the plumbers onsite as they alleged we needed more work than what was actually not functioning correctly. We limited them to the hot water heater replacement only based on our own knowledge, speaking to the hot water heater manufacturer, and soliciting the feedback of another plumber who was familiar with the home's radiant heating system. The plumber alleged the equipment was installed and functioning properly when he signed off on the job being completed. Unfortunately the next day he returned to the house without contacting us as the owners when our painter onsite called to let him know the heat was not in the home. This means the heat was not working when he left the home the night before and was not on during the night when temperatures dropped to 12 degrees. He alleged to the painter, again never contacting us the owners, that the heater was working and he left the job again. And again, with temperatures below freezing the home was left another night and day without heat. We discovered this the following day, now 48 hours into his job "completed" that the heat was still not on and the water heater had not been installed properly to allow for our system to return to where it could generate heat. We called My Buddy several times asking for help as the home was 50 degrees. While the dispatcher was very nice and empathetic, the plumber's manager was not. He ran through many excuses, none of which had to do with his plumber not completing the job or being knowledgable about our water heater or radiant heat system. We were left to our own google searches, speaking with hot water heater manufacturer again, and calling another plumber to reset the hot water heater and help our boiler get back on track to heat the home. No one from My Buddy called to check on this, apologize, or offer assistance. They only continued to send their invoice asking for payment for a job not completed with a botched install. Unfortunately we signed up for their "Membership" and now will not be in a position to use that service since they are not trustworthy.
Watch out. Found these guys via Yelp. Needed someone to change my furnace filter. They sent a tech out here who insisted on doing a reading of carbon monoxide before changing the filter. He instructed me to place device over an active heater in the house and we waited for 10 minutes. When I retrieved the device it was powered off. I brought the device to him. He powered it on and pressed some buttons then turned the device around and pointed at the screen while informing me that I had 40 ppm of carbon monoxide in my house due to a broken furnace. He said that the EPA only allows carbon monoxide readings of 9 ppm and that my life was in danger if I continued to run my furnace. I called a second company who sent a tech out here. Second company tech did a reading in the house and right next to the filter. No carbon monoxide was detected in either readings. His device didn't power off. **update** After posting this they called me asking about my review...expressing concern. Representative from their company explained that it's possible the device was malfunctioning and that we should let them send out a his supervisor to take another reading. Oddly, their initial rep was ready to immediately take drastic actions after getting the 40ppm reading, like shutting off my gas, before having the supervisor "double check" the reading. Rep also had no problem charging me for their services. I told the rep on the phone that I didn't need them to come out. I told them I felt more comfortable buying a device and testing it myself. I asked him which device I should buy, he provided a recommendation due to the device's ability to measure peak times of CO readings. I told him if I found any CO readings, at the peak times, that would change my review to give them more stars. He instructed me to install my CO reader in the boiler room. CO reader came in the mail. I've been testing CO levels for 3 days and it hasn't picked up a single PPM. In the owners manual it explicitly tells you not to install it in the boiler room due to readings being thrown off. Since discussing my experience with friends in the real-estate market, I've learned that these type of shady business deals are common. One friend said he had encountered this 3 times this year alone. I wouldn't recommend working with these guys...they seem to fit the bill.
I found My Buddy The Plumber Heating & Air through Yelp. They were quick to respond to my inquiry and set up an appointment, which was wonderful since it is so hot outside. The technician was polite and seemed knowledgeable. He looked over the air-conditioning unit which was still blowing air but it was no longer cold. He told me the high voltage distributor needed to be replaced which would be $225. He replaced the part quickly. When he came back in he said the compressor on my unit was working extremely hard and would probably break any day now. He told me I needed to replace my entire unit. I asked him to give me a bid so I could start the process of shopping around. He wrote down 3 different bids. Each included the retail price of the unit, the price he could get me and the price the unit would be before 8-1-18 because the tariffs would be affecting the prices of the units after that date. I wanted to shop around since the prices quoted seemed high. I had another company check out my air conditioning unit the next morning. This technician told me my air conditioner was working perfectly and I did not need a new unit. He explained to me the different tests done to show that it was working fine. He also explained the part replaced the previous day was actually a capacitor that only costs $89. I am extremely disappointed in My Buddy Plumber Heating & Air. I feel your technician thought he could make an easy sale because I seemed vulnerable. I will not recommend your company to anyone I know in the future. I believe it is important to be able to trust the people you invite into your home and from my experience your technician was not trustworthy. Update: The owner of the company did call to go over my review. We spoke about the experience and he asked if he and a sales technician could come out to check the unit. They came out and checked out the air conditioning unit. They could explain where the initial technician was making his assumptions. We talked about better ways of explaining the problem in the future. I appreciate the follow up and time to explain where I was coming from with my experience.
We booked an appointment with a plumber that MBTP scheduled to show up between 3-5 pm. The time came and he hadn't yet shown up to the appointment or contacted us yet. We waited until 6 pm to call the company (we wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt that he might make it at 5:59), and the coordinator said that he was at a different job and she would text the technician that we were waiting for him. This implied to us that he would swing by and do a quick assessment after he finished his current job. Otherwise, why bother texting him? The next day Alison called us to say that he had called us at 3 pm yesterday to confirm the appointment but that we missed the call. We looked through both of our phone logs to find that neither of us received a call. She said she had a log and recording that proves he called us. I asked what phone number he had dialed; she didn't have that information, "one of the two on the account." "If you don't pick up the phone, you have 15 minutes to call back or the appointment is cancelled." This information could have easily been communicated when we called at 6 pm the day prior; we could've just booked a specialty after-hours appointment right there. On the customer service call, Alison came across as incompetent, disrespectful and short-tempered. She was quick to cut me off and talk over me when I asked questions about what happened and the miscommunication over the 6 pm call. Her deaf, abrasive, patronizing nature dissuaded me of further hiring the services of this company. I don't believe the phone call happened. Neither of our phones shows a missed call or a voicemail that they insisted occurred. My theory is that they overbooked, we were the casualties and they began lying to us about the situation to save face. Sometimes you drop the ball, that would've been fine. I don't know what the point is to harangue the customer over it. 1 star for Alison's customer service.
About a year ago we had a small leak in overhead pipes in our condo. We called this company, and admittedly they had a tech out pretty fast even after hours. He then told us that due to the age of the building he had to call in a third party disaster cleanup company. We had the place tested for lead and asbestos when we bought it, but he said they only accept tests from this other company. The plumber left. This disaster company shows up, and proceeds to cut a 40 by 28 inch hole in my ceiling. He didn't put down any plastic sheeting, and just let all of the insulation spill out all over the floor. He couldn't find the leak. They left us with a rented dehumidifier, but after finding out that it would cost $100 a day to "rent" it (they said 3 days minimum to get the moisture out of the drywall) I sent it back and bought my own at Best Buy for $150 total. The plumber comes back, and also can't find the leak. He turns the water back on, tells us to keep an eye out, then leaves. Of course the pipe starts leaking again, so using my own phone camera I find the leak myself and turn the water back off. The next day (2 days without water, bathrooms or showers), I contact my realtor and he sends us a private plumber. The issue was found, repaired, prevented from recurring (2 pipes rubbing together were spaced apart), and he only made a 6-inch square hole in the drywall to do it. This company has got to have some sort of "special deal" going on with the disaster cleanup to generate business. We were charged over $600 to be without water for 2 days and the extra cost for a dehumidifier and a better company to actually find and fix the issue. We called the disaster company to find out the results of the super crucial asbestos test. The never bothered to do it, but charged us for that too.
This company would take your money after doing an incomplete job to your water system. On Friday I called out a technician to fix my water heater and PRV to fix the water pressure and get our water smooth and running. The technician gave me word that everything was ready to go and no leakage is going to happen again. The next day my tenant called and said there was leakage in the kitchen and bathroom sinks. I gave the company a call and the receptionist Jamie said that the company is not responsible for any sudden incidents and said the leakage has nothing to do with the technician's job. On top of that, the water tech has gone out of town. Okay, help me out here. The whole reason I called a technician out is so that the water doesn't leak again and you're saying any "sudden incidents" has nothing to do with you?!?! Then why do I need a technician for?!?! It hasn't even been A DAY! If it's been three years and the water starts leaking then yes, it probably has nothing to do with you. It's probably my pipes are getting old. But something like this happens right after the repair and you brush off responsibility and claim it has nothing to do with you?! As a customer, I can accept technical mistakes but I can't accept dishonesty from a business. Not only that you tell me if it's weekend emergency you are going to charge me another 59 dispatch fee? It wouldn't hurt to let your technician to come out and clean up the mess the other technician has caused, would it? At this point, I'm left unarmed. Homeowners please beware to not let any company charge you before they get started with the job. You never know what type of tech you are going to get and whether the company will put your needs forward after they take your money.
I called in and was told the first available appointment was over a week out. It was a simple job so I scheduled it. I was going to have to take time off work for the appointment so I opted for an early morning appointment. 8:00-noon. As I waited and waited I happened to be at my computer and noticed a missed call from someone on my office office line. I called the number back immediately and was told it was the tech trying to get a hold of me. This would not be the number I would have given them if told you must respond within 15 minutes or they would cancel the job. (perhaps some better training on their end). Any way when I called in the person said they would contact the tech and let them know I was available, and it should be 20-25 minutes for someone to show up. After waiting 45 minutes I called again and she said she would gt a hold of the tech. after a long hold online she told me she got a hold of the tech and he should be their in 20-25 minutes. Before she came back on the line the truck has already pulled up. The tech did inform me that he was just waiting around for my job but the notes said "not to show up before 10am". The tech looked at my outdoor facuet and without un hooking it he then need to go under the crawl space to see the other end. Without getting into to much detail he decided that this was going to be a much larger job and quoted me $969.99. I called another plumber ManWill pluming. They came out the next day. It took them less than an hour and it was under $400. I have a rental property as well and am always looking for a good plumber unfortunately I would not be able to recommend My Buddy the plumber. When in doubt Aways get a second opinion.
I will definitely not use this company again. In June, I needed a plumber to repair a broken toilet water tank, I looked at good reviews from Yelp, so I had this company to give me a quote for repairs. Mike the plumber came in and told me to replace the whole toilet because I have a commercial toilet( high-end model), he said it caused more to replace only the broken water tank( while the seating toilet was perfectly fine). I know it was a busy summer season and I was very busy so I decided to replace a new one that day. It was expensive then he continued to persuade me to replace the other two fine toilets which I have in the house. This is a high-end house in Holladay, and all he did was to sell toilets as a plumber! To stop him, I told him next time. First, the plumber was more than an hour late with another rookie plumber with him to come to my house. About half way to replace the toilet, the lead plumber Mike said he needed to leave, but he needed to collect the payment first. I was hesitated ( since I didn't have a good feeling about this service) but I paid. Then the worst happened, while the rookie plumber finished installation, he just left without letting me know that he was done. Luckily I had another handyman fixing something that day, he checked the new toilet for me and told me to have the plumbers come back immediately because the two pieces' new toilet was not even screwed together tight and they would break soon if not tightened together. I called their office and waited an hour again for the rookie plumber to be back because the lead plumber couldn't even face it! This was an awful plumber experience!
PLEASE READ THIS! We had My Buddy the Plumber come out 2 years ago to fix our furnace. They couldn't fix it so we paid thousands to replace the furnace. It sucks to replace a furnace, but it is what it is (so I thought). We had been happy with our experience until the past few days. There was condensation leaking outside the piping, so I called for a tune up. Turns out that the installers totally messed up the install and the condensation leaked into the furnace and is corroding the gas pipe, metal work, heat exchange, and has created an unsafe situation for my family. Though the furnace company warrants their stuff, since this is due to inept installers and employees of My Buddy the Plumber, it falls out of warranty. This is only a 2 year old furnace. So now we have to spend thousands more to either limp this along for another 2 years worth of life or buy another furnace. I had them come out multiple times during that first year (due to their loyalty program) to inspect the furnace and none of this was caught. RUN AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. They are con-men and do not warranty their work. There are lots of reviews within 6 months to a year's worth of good reviews. But you can't trust those reviews due to the short time of owning those furnaces. Give it 2-3 years, and you would really find out that My Buddy the Plumber are terrible at what they do. Their inability to correctly do their work is DANGEROUS to anybody that is a customer. There should be a lawsuit against them and they should be held responsible for their unprofessionalism. Run Run Run away from them.
