Ron did an excellent job servicing our hot water heater and replacing our garbage disposal. He was very thorough in presenting options for us to consider and the pro's and con's of each and was able to answer all our questions. I really appreciated that. A very courteous gentleman who was on time and extremely professional. Absolutely represented the company well! Highly recommend Ron and Hiller for all plumbing, electrical and HVAC needs!
John and Spencer came in and understood my problem right away and went right to fixing it. Inspected house plumbing in crawl space and made me aware of concerns, set appointment to have project manager review and develop bids. Overall friendly and very professional. Very pleased with action.
Alex and Andrew did a fabulous job with all my electrical needs. They went above and beyond. Very pleasant and courteous. I could not have asked for 2 better guys! Andrew and Dale did an excellent job on replacing my main water line from the street to my house. Thank you Hiller for taking care of my needs so quickly.
Got a hold of Keith. No plumber has ever called back and no electrician as ever called back. My son has tried several times to contact and nothing.
I had a leak under the sink in the master bedroom. The technician was great. He was here for no more than 45 minutes. My bill was $209 - $9 for the part - $200 for labor. I don't remember their labor charges being that ridiculous. This will be that last time I use them. There are too many other honest, reasonable plumbers out there to be taken advantage of by Hiller. And to think I was going to purchase a HVAC unit from them. That's a big no now.
We purchased a home in Aug 2025 and unfortunately in April of 26 one of our HVAC units stopped working. Hiller was the installer of said unit in 2020, so we called them for help. We were told the refrigerant was completely empty so we had a serious leak somewhere. The product warranty was non transferable and Hiller did not warrant their labor since it had been 6 years. After considering our options with their service tech and one of the project managers (Sales - Eli) we agreed to have a complete new HVAC installed, purchased a 10 year labor warranty, and joined the membership (extra monthly charge). Basically, we were 100% bought in for Hiller to be our go to company. We signed an agreement on the spot, scheduled an install date, and thought we had completed the financing. Unfortunately, from there, the communications stopped. The lack of communication from them and their project manager (sales guy making commission), their finance/accounting department (Vicki to be specific), their sales manager (no clue who that was), and their installation team was shocking at best. Actually 100% NON EXISTANT. The day before install, I reached out to them to confirm financing had been completed since I hadn't received any confirmation. After getting the run around, I was finally connected with Vicki who told me they couldn't use the card I gave them, even though I had been told it was taken care of at the beginning. Apparently this was my fault, my problem. At which point, I canceled my installation for the next day. Guess what happened. Due to there complete lack of communication, the installers showed up the next day ready to install the HVAC system. Only after I told their install team what happened and that I would not be using them did I finally get a call from a manager. Who then tried to convince me to move forward but offered nothing other than a semi sincere apology. Mind you. This is before the actually install. What happens after they get my money? Fortunately, I found another local company that took care of me quickly and professionally.
First, the positive: I called three plumbers Hiller was the only one that took my call immediately and scheduled a same-day appointment. The technician (by merit has skills that I would NOT call him a "plumber") arrived promptly as scheduled. It all went downhill from there. The estimate for a leaky tub faucet, a leaky sink faucet, A broken bath tub stopper, and the replacement of a corroded exposed pipe under a pedestal sink: $795. Three times more than the high-ball estimate given by the other two plumbers. I needed it done right away and trusted Hiller's "happy or it's free" slogan/promise. 90 minutes into the technician's visit and no repairs were completed on the two items I elected to fix: replacement of the small corroded pipe and the leaky bathtub faucet. An additional 25 minutes spent trying to locate water shut off which I had indicated was at the street edge of our property. 2.5 hours later: The small length of expose pipe was replaced with PVC with a diameter smaller than the original pipe leaving in exposed void around the tile under the pedestal sink. 3.5 hours later, The leaky bath faucet was repaired but now the sink was clogged. The technician submitted a bill for $495. He stated that the newly clogged sink would be an additional charge--one for which he his work truck was not outfitted to repair. 30 minutes later, another truck arrived and unclogged the sink inside of five minutes. I elected to use Hiller as this company was recommended by a trusted friend who had had a positive experience. From the situation I can deduce that not all their technicians have equal skill levels and a consumer is really just rolling the dice when they choose Hiller. I consider a very expensive lesson learned. Next time I will call an independent company with a skill set appropriate for these simple repairs.
Had an electrical problem. Scheduled appointment. No show or call from technician, despite confirmations from Hiller. Called Hiller. Was told electrician was on an all day job with someone with no power. OK fine. I just would have liked a call to let me know. Rescheduled. Technician arrived within the time window. Technician was nice, as have been all Hiller technicians. Found problem. Technician had to call a manager for details about the quote. Was quoted a price for work. Price seemed very high. Was told I would receive quote in email. Never received it. Called Hiller a few days later and asked for and itemized quote. Received five quotes for various recommendations, including a non-itemized quote for the work I needed done. Called Hiller again to ask for an itemized quote. Lady answering the phone had to put me on hold. She came back on the line and apologized for the wait. Was told all quotes had been canceled but she was working on retrieving them. Received same quote as before. Replied to email to further explain I wanted an itemized quote for the work and materials. Received reply that they could not provide me any further detail. I'd happily have Hiller do the work as I've been pleased with other work they've done but this last experience left me with a bad taste. Quote did include a four hour window "for safety" but technician told me he didn't think it would be more than an hour. Feel like a bit of price gouging was going on... Oh, and I'm a "Happy" Hiller Club member.
I've used Hiller for several years. The last TWO times, I have not been happy with the work. 1. Had an electrical outlet that had stopped working. So a young man came out, fixed it. Then decided he needed to check the others. He did NOT turn the power off. As he poked around in one outlet, fire/electricity "flew" from the outlet. He burned up another outlet with that trick. He capped the wires & put a solid plate over it. Then he tried to blame me. " You must use this one a lot." I rarely used it, and told him so. He wanted to change all my outlets and aggressively pushed to do so. A reputable company installed them, AND the County inspector approved them. I should have called & complained about him. 2. Had a plumber come out because my toilet was leaking from the base. He fixed that...AND then told me I needed the "workings" in the tank replaced. "They look bad." They looked ok to me, but I said ok. I believe that more than doubled the bill as in I believe over $300.00. He did NOT give me a quote on the tank items. I knew Hiller had replaced that stuff, but couldn't recall when, I looked for a receipt or something after he left. App 2 1/2 years before. I wish I had called and complained! He put the same type of items in ,and told me it would last a good long , long time. Yeh, right! 3. And now I need to call them again. I will be real nasty if their plumber tries selling me unneeded items again. They used to have really good people working there. I've about decided they've all quit! Why?
Would not recommend this company to anyone. Contracted with them to do a pretty large commercial job, and they started the work without obtaining the proper permits from the city, resulting in a stop work order, and then refused to correct the issues or complete the work. The delay in having them remove their materials, finding another plumber, and obtaining necessary permitting and city meetings, resulted in a delay of nearly 2 months in the opening of my business. All of this would have been avoided had they done as stated in our contract and required by city ordinances, and gotten the necessary permits prior to beginning the job. Further, the work they did perform was not all correct, and the correction of those errors resulted in a significant amount of additional costs. Staff (manager named Bobby)was rude and even went as far as yelling at and cussing me when I went into their office to try to discuss the issues and their intentions to remedy the situation, in front of my small child. I left there literally in tears. Mind you, this was a $5,000+ job. I finally had to resort to obtaining legal assistance in getting them to simply remove their materials from my shop so another company could come in and complete the job. In the end, in total, instead of the original $5,000 cost for the job, I was out nearly 3 times that amount, and never received so much as an apology from anyone in the company!
We had just bought a house and asked Hiller to check system out. They suggested a tune up for $199.00 and that would include checking the system now (May) and rechecking system in the fall . The technician was very pleasant and spent a good amount of time checking the system out. He finished up and said he couldn't find any problems with it but that it was an older system and I should be fine for now. Less than four days later system stopped cooling. i called Hiller and a couple days later the same tech came to look at the system. Evaporator coil was frozen up. He said my coils could be impacted with drywall dust as I had been doing Sheet rock work. He also said it could be low on refrigerant and that R22 refrigerant is $100.00 / pound and is liquid gold. He initially said the second visit would be done as a courtesy but later said his manager said I should pay $69.00 as the problem was unrelated to their initial service. As I am familiar with HVAC systems I feel he did not do a thorough job doing the system tune up. He should have checked / cleaned evaporator coil and checked working pressures as well as superheat / subcool to verify adequate refrigerant charge. I'm very dissatisfied as they just want to sell me a new HVAC system. I spoke with head office in Nashville and was told they would pass this on. Two days after he came to recheck it , it was frozen up again. im very disappointed !!!
I called Hiller because the heating in my 8 year old Carrier HVAC system was not working. Ivan Walsh, a technician came out, spent over 30 minutes in his van on the phone and laptop (I could see him). He then showed me a 'stock' photo of some unrecognizable rusted thing. When I asked him to show me on the actual unit, he did not take the panel off so I could see. He said he would have to cut the main trunk of my hedge off, (which would have destroyed my hedge) so he could work on the problem, supposedly having to put in a new inducer motor. My unit was still under warranty, and he would not give me a written quote, but said his labor would cost me $825.00. Bells went off and I called one the oldest HVAC companies in Knoxville, Clancey & Reynolds. The guy came out that day. It turned out to be an adjustment on the inducer motor mounting, which took him all of 10 minutes. I now have heat and his labor was $38. I think it's despicable how these large companies can try and screw you out of your hard earned money by telling you you need a whole new unit when only a simple adjustment is necessary, (and my hedge is still in tact). I would NEVER recommend Happy Hiller, no wonder they are called 'Happy', making unnecessary money they are scamming people out of. I don't know how some people can sleep at night.
Completely satisfied with this outfit. My first dealings with them was to install a new HVAC unit. A salesman came to the house. He didn't pressure me as I wanted to get some other estimates. The work was scheduled quickly. Pros: Great technicians, highly skilled, very professional. Fast to get to your needs. I got free membership into the Happy Hiller club. You move to the front of the line for service. They come out every 6 months for free and do a tune up. They empty water heaters, check plumbing and electricity. It's pretty nice and if you need anything, you can schedule it with them. My new HVAC quit working on a hot evening during a dinner party. They had a technician there in less than an hour and he did a quick easy fix, a plugged up drain line. Impressed. Cons: Seems quite expensive, but you get what you paid for. I was sold a Trane (or some other name brand heat pump, I don't remember) and then an off brand was installed. They said it was the same unit built by the same company with same warranty so I let it go but it seemed like a bait and switch. I had to have them back because the pad was not leveled with the install. It was resolved quickly. All in all, they are a good outfit and take care of all our needs.
I was a Hiller club member for about 2 years before I canceled. The first tech that came out for routine checkup/maintenance was good. Replaced a capacitor that was on the threshold of being in spec, price was reasonable so I authorized it. No surprises, and so far so good! Second and third technician they sent both pressured me to let them send a project manager out to quote me a new system. When I declined a new furnace the second tech even swapped from attempting to sell me a heater to sell me a new AC unit even though he was doing matiannce on the heater. The third technician walked in the door and started trying to sell me a new AC unit *before* even looking at it. In both cases the justification for a new system seemed dubious. My broader point is not that the techs are right or not, rather that when someone walks into my door and immediately without looking at my system suggests I need to drop ~$10k on a replacement is not someone I trust the advice of. If I can't trust a company that sends techs who are overtly working on commission, then there's really no point in subscribing to their "Happy" Hiller club.
Outstanding service by Spencer today - he replaced an air cleaning unit in the duct work - the bulbs had burned out over the years. The new unit is a better system with a good warranty and lower bulb replacement cost. Spencer was just here last week when he performed the spring tune-up on the cooling system. Unfortunately after he left, the wife noticed a very annoying and loud sound that seemed to be coming from the outside unit during the cooling cycle. Today, he really took the time and patience to understand the problem. After much inspection, he determined that a line connecting from the outside unit to a section in the crawl space was rubbing/vibrating against some wood support structures. This caused the sound to get amplified and spread loudly throughout the master bedroom which is located immediately above the outside unit. Before he would leave, Spencer went out of his way to ensure that the noise was minimized in the bedroom. One can now sleep much better in that room. The quality and value of the work were excellent. I could not have been more satisfied with it!
