Mike, Jose and the staff at Heises plumbing are terrific. They are friendly, knowledgeable, trustworthy and always get the job done right the first time. I have used Heises plumbing for years. Thank you Mike, Jose and staff for all you do.

Jose was outstanding. He came in and fixed what we had been told by another plumber was an unsolvable problem with our faucet and that our entire faucet would need to be replaced. Instead Jose expertly repaired it, checked the other faucets and installed a new mechanism in our toilet. Not having to change out two sets of faucets for new ones also saved us a ton of money in parts and labor. Can't recommend Heise's highly enough.

Erick and Jordan did a fantastic job replacing old rusted leaking pipes in the bathroom (shower) interior, in the basement and exterior of the building. They are experienced, skilled and knowledgeable. I appreciated that they took the time to explain what they were doing. They both are very congenial and service oriented. It was a pleasure to work with them. I will definitely ask for them in the future! Satchiko and Xandra were both great at helping me schedule the full day of work that needed to be done, answered all my questions when I called several times and helped me coordinate meeting Erick and Jordan to show them a last minute toilet issue. Thomas was very skillful when he came to give an estimate. He has a keen eye and showed me potential issues I hadn’t noticed. I’m very satisfied with Heise’s work!

Be careful with these guys - they aren't honest. They made an appointment with me for a 2-hour service window but didn't show and didn't contact me. So at the end of the 2 hours I called them. They admitted they were late but said the service tech was 30 min away in downtown SF. Then 90 minutes later, still no show, so I called again and now the tech was supposedly somewhere on the Peninsula 50 more minutes away. So I cancelled. Who has time to spend all afternoon waiting for service that never comes and having to listen to a bunch of lies about when they'll arrive? Use these losers at your own risk.

I have used Heise's for years, maybe decades, and have always had AMAZING service. I even carry around an ancient Heise's canvas bag. And Mark is great. But with the change in ownership, prices have skyrocketed. I called today to deal with a clogged toilet, and because it's a weekend they said they would charge $625/hr. I asked if they charged per quarter hour, but no. It's $625, even if it takes 5 minutes to fix your problem. Roto-Rooter came and the plumber determined that there really wasn't a huge issue and charged nothing. I asked if maybe he should snake the toilet just to be sure and he said no, then he'd have to charge me $265 (their much more reasonable hourly fee). The last time Heise's came the charge was excessive. There's a problem here. And it's not with the plumbers. It seems like management to me. I hate to say this, but I can't work with Heise's anymore.

The cost to come to our house and do basically nothing was $225. I don't even remember the name of the guy, and I really don't want to remember. Nobody from this place is ever setting foot in my house again. Our tenant downstairs said the shower was not working, so my husband called Heise's Plumbing. They sent someone out fast enough, which is why I was inclined to leave two stars. We also asked him to check a leaky faucet and he concluded that we needed to replace it. He happened to have a Grohe faucet that was nickel instead of the chrome we had, and added that if he had to come back he had to charge another $225. That's $450 on top of the cost of another $150+ faucet - we fixed the shower ourselves with a new hose. This left us in a dilemma: buy the faucet he had at the inflated price and install it now, or have him come back to install a faucet we really wanted for another $225. Things didn't sound right, so I said we'd buy the faucet and call if we needed to. Today, I called Discount Plumbers at the suggestion of a neighbor across the street and they came out at a time specific and they were on time. Edgar looked at the sink, checked the faucet, and concluded it was the grout on the back of the wall. He splashed water on the grouted area, and sure enough the water started to drip down. All I have to do is grout the sink. He also came upstairs and tightened the loose faucet on our lavatory. The cost? No charge, he charged us nothing. We really wanted to stay local, but this whole experience with Heise's was sketch as all fnck. It left us feeling thoroughly ripped off and I'm going to be pissed off about this for quite some time. Thankfully, we did not commit to these folks, and returned the replacement faucet and got our money back.

I have used Heise's Plumbing for many years at my rental house in San Francisco. They were my go-to local SF plumber. My last three encounters with them, however, were bad. I think this coincides with the previous owner, Dave, leaving and new owners are now in place. First encounter last year: The lady renter said two workers came to replace a faucet and were rude and condescending. Second encounter last year: The toilet in the bathroom was leaking into the basement below. Heise's replaced the wax ring which stopped the leaking. However the toilet was now rocking and they just placed a shim (sticking out from under the toilet), and did nor do any caulking. I ended up calling a known to me professional plumber who had to drive a long distance to remove the toilet, install a new toilet flange, replace the waste drain piping to the basement, and to cleanly caulk the toilet bottom with the floor. Third encounter this month (January 2023). I had a very bad leak from upstairs into the basement. Estimator came out and charged me for 1.5 hours ($337.50) and said the pipe behind the bathroom sink was bad, and shut off the water supply lines. It took three phone calls over a week to finally get an estimate without any details. The estimate was exorbitant. I called out my known professional plumber who did have to break through the tile wall and found that the vent pipe had a hole which filled up with water due to a slow sink drain. He replaced all the piping (vent line, sink drain line all the way to the basement) and my total cost was one-third of Heise's cost. I have since taken them off my list of my local go-to SF plumber and am looking for a new one.

My mother went into a nursing home 4 years ago & then passed away in 2020. We hadn't been taking care of her home & I'm now going to move into it. I noticed the back drain was clogging & so was the kitchen drain so I took care of that. Then I noticed the bathroom shower was leaking. I called Heise & the young lady who answered the phone could hear the dripping in the background & said she would try to find someone to quickly come look at it. She called back & said Mike was working nearby & could come over & look at the problem. The bathroom still has the original vintage tile & the pipes behind the wall are galvanized instead of copper. Mike was very professional & kind & told me what needed to be done with the galvanized pipe & vintage dual faucets. He gave me an estimate & said the work could be done the following week. I didn't want to wait so I ended up using another plumber who was able to do the work immediately & their assessment of the problem & price was the same. However, I am extremely grateful Heise came so quickly & had they been able to do the work that week, I would have used them. Heise did all the plumbing updates in my grandmother's home years ago, and when Dave owned it he went back & did work for my brother on that same property. I know Dave has since sold the company but Heise is still known for doing great work.

We had an issue where our hot water line steadily became weaker at our kitchen sink faucet which was only 14 months old recently installed during a minor remodel. I immediately thought of Heise's Plumbing as they had helped us through a clogged main issue during our Thanksgiving family celebration of all inconvenient times! Ceasar came over the next morning of my call and walked me through all of the troubleshooting steps to clear the supply lines. I decided it was also a good time to replace the angle stop which he happily did for me. It was a good thing too since he found that this had internal deterioration and would likely become a future problem. Afterwards Ceasar found there was a small leak from the built-in faucet supply line which was a faucet manufacturer defect. Culprits found and thus no more leaking and now a weak hot water pressure is fixed - all within a short time! Ceasar was very patient and professional explaining all of the steps and super polite. Everyone should note "Heise's Plumbing" as their go-to professionals. My utmost gratitude to Ceasar and Heise's Plumbing for helping us today as they had done over Thanksgiving!

I've used Heise's for several years. Their office person is lovely. Their communication is usually great. They've always done a good job and come on time, etc. However, I am lowering their star rating (3 1/2) because of the following exception & because it still bothers me! We had a very large, and very old drain pipe in our garage which needed to be replaced. Of course I called Heise's. I was quoted $1800 (wow!) because it would take "8 hours and take two men". I agreed. On the day of the job, only one young man showed up. He did the job in 4 hours. When he finished, I called to check on the price I was told it would be for the same price they quoted me. Huh?! Also, it still leaked and they had to send out someone else to fix his work (again, just one person who took about a half hour.) Their prices have continued to go up sometimes within the same year - (perhaps like everything else...?) They do excellent work so I guess it's "you get what you pay for" ? Next time, if I'm given a quote for a certain number of men and a certain number of hours then I expect to pay less if the plan changes considerably.

I had a very costly and horrific experience with this company. During torrential rains, the entire bottom level of my home was filled with sewage pouring in from the street. I remembered that during a previous job, Heiss had removed a critical backflow flap from my interior pipe, telling me it was unnecessary.Several plumbers have since confirmed that this flap is critical to prevent sewage from flowing back into the house. And should NEVER be removed. I have documentation showing that their company removed it. As a direct result of this removal of the flap, my house became flooded with sewage. I am now dealing with over $22,000 in damages, including contamination to floors, furniture, walls, built-ins, and mold throughout the space. Heiss refuses to take any responsibility and will not cover any of the cost. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend being extremely cautious before hiring this company. I was told that because of my attitude, they are going to never work for me again. All I can say is hallelujah!!

The water heater installation was messy with water splashed around and not mopped up. One was replaced the other was good both have trays underneath to catch leaks and should be dry. They got water in the good dry tray as well as the one they replaced. I had to get them back twice before they drove away to remove the standing water. They tried to get me to believe that the other one had started to leak. I showed them where the water had clearly come from. I am still working on getting the pan dry. The finishing touch was they had unplugged my refrigerator I guess when they were moving the heater and didn't replace it. I didn't notice for a few days till I opened the freezer to find everything ruined. They not only denied the unplugging, but said they didn't see a refrigerator. Heise's not only denies the obvious but accuses me of trying to scam them out of a couple of hundred dollars. If I was trying to scam them I would certainly go for more than that. Poe Asher

This week when I called Heise's Plumbing to schedule the installation of a new bathroom sink faucet the friendly lady said they have raised their rates to $325.00 an hour and asked if I agreed with that amount. I said yes, but in retrospect feel that I should have called some other plumbing companies to find a cheaper rate. As it turned out, the total bill came to $725.00 which included two hours of labor for one man plus $69.75 for a new standard pop-up assembly (not sure why the one that came with the new faucet couldn't be used). Jose the plumber did a good job and I'm happy with the results. I've had previous jobs done by Heise's and their workmanship has always been top notch. Their invoice shows a new company name "Heise's and Cannon," so it appears the rate increase is explained by this change in ownership. Another change is that they no longer send you a bill and instead ask for payment onsite when they have finished working.

They were amazing getting someone on-site same day as I called for a hidden leak in our in-law bath (I was off-site but my wife and the tenant were there). The tech apparently found the source of the leak--faulty sealing around the tub that was invisible in the room but showed up as water seeping into the garage--and said that additional work needed to be done as part of the overall fix, including some things they would need to subcontract for. They told those onsite that they would be contacting me for follow-up details on putting the plan in place w/o starting any repairs (that I know of). Nine days later I still haven't heard from them, even though I've called twice and left messages. Problem still exists. This isn't the first time in the past couple years Heise's has dropped a ball they started carrying for me. They were my go-to plumbers for years but recently keep finding ways to undermine the second chances I've given them.

Here are the facts: Tried to fix the leaky bathroom faucet myself. I removed the knobs, tried to tighten the valves, and when that didn't work, turned off the water to the sink. The plumber from Heise's comes over, puts the knobs back on and suddenly there's no leak. He was as surprised as I was. He shook his head and said "there's no problem here, there's no leak. Whatever you did, must've fixed it." This exchange took seconds. I knew that Heise's charged a $132 minimum for a service call, which may or may not be expensive. The boss called later that afternoon and said he'd bill me only a half hour even though the plumber admitted to him (and to me) that he hadn't done anything. In other words, I paid a plumber $66 to come to my house and walk away without doing anything to change/solve any problem. Is that fair? Perhaps. Would I call Heise's again for a plumbing problem in my home or recommend them to a friend? Hard to say.
