During a carpet installation our cat apparently fell into a furnace vent that was open while being worked on. After 2 days of searching he finally meowed and we found him stuck in the duct. We have been customers of Atlas Butler for years but, this experience was special. Finn Hartley our technician was able to get Jack the cat out in less than 30 minutes and repair the duct. He was in good shape but, hungry of course. We are so happy with the service. Thank you Finn and Atlas Butler!

We had a tankless water heater and limescale inhibitor installed Feb 5, 2026. The installers were Tyler Landis and Karon Williams. They were very professional and friendly. They were here the entire day. They left our basement very clean. They thoroughly explained the system and how it works. We are very pleased with the product and installation. Thank you, John Wagg & Gabby

Our furnace died on a very cold day & Atlas Butler sent technician within 4hrs but could not be repaired so sales engineer arrived 2 hrs later & examined whole system & the airflow in our whole house & made very sensible recommendations. He quoted several levels of new equipment & repairs to existing airflows. We accepted quote for the system that would work best for us within our budget. The next day the crew & new equipment arrived 15 mins early & worked the entire day until everything was installed, tested & left online. Our house came up to temperature very quickly (14 dgrs outside) & we immediately noticed the improved airflow that could be felt in every area & we are comfortable at a lower temperature now! We were impressed with the quality of the equipment & the installation. We highly recommend Atlas Butler & will use them as needed in future. A special thanks to our sales engineer Eric for his recommendations.

Out furnace was not working properly so we called to have one of their technicians come look at it. He said we need to replace the whole unit and it would cost $8k. We called another company to get a second opinion and the air filter just needed replace. Our furnace is working just fine now. Either had a complete idiot for a technician or they just try to scam people. Either horrible company and will never be using again.

My mother in-law, who is 91 years old, recently had a service call for her furnace which she does every year before winter. I happened to call and check in on her and she was very upset. I said what is wrong? She said there was a technician there who said she needed a new furnace immediately and that the house could burn down because the furnace is over heating! I said to her don't do anything until i get there. I walked in to find a sales rep on his computer ready to sign her up for a $5000 furnace replacement. I looked at him in astonishment. I asked him has anyone contacted her relatives because she is elderly. He said they had tried which was not true. I am thinking end of the year quotas, guerrilla sales tactics on an old women. I was furious and asked him to pack up his things and leave. He left with a sheepish look about him. I went to check the furnace and they had disabled it, pulled parts off of it and shut it off. They were basically forcing her to buy a new one by shutting off the heat. Are you freaking kidding me? I called the technician and told him to get back here and replace the parts he ripped off and get it running again. He kindly said I can't do that because the furnace is dangerous and could over heat and cause a fire. Again I said get back here and put it back to the way it was when he got here. He finally said I have to replace a part which I broke because I thought she was buying a new furnace. The nerve of this company (Atlas Butler). Taking advantage of an elderly woman with scare tactics. I had a second opinion with Buckeye Cooling and Heating and they tell me the furnace is fine. I told him about the Atlas Butler situation and he just laughed. He had heard the stories before. Atlas Butler, I don't know what you have built your company off of. But it definitely is not honesty. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Everyone please beware of Atlas Butler tactics.

We called Atlas Butler during a cold night when our furnace went out. They sent a tech late at night and before he even looked at the unit he said "I know what's wrong with it" and shoved a camera in to find what he called a crack in the heat exchange without diagnosing the actual issue. He handed me a piece of paper that basically said if I turned it back I would be risking the lives of me and my family. He then sent a sales rep out within 30min to our house to sell us a new system. The sales rep was really nice at first and gave us 3 options. All 3 were quite expensive, $16-$22k with different warranty lengths. I signed up for the mid range unit to be installed next day and then realized this was nuts so I cancelled and said I needed time to do research. This got Mike (the sales rep) pretty heated and he called me. I asked if he would have his family members do research on buying a new car or if he would just have them buy from the first person he talks to and he said "Good day sir" as if to hang up on me, but he didnt and continued to do the sales pitch angrily basically telling me that my research was going to be invalid and they were the ONLY option in town. As you can see from the multiple reviews of this company they are the WORST option in town. My research turned up this: Atlas units are a sub brand of carrier that come with no warranty and then Atlas applies their own warranty. This brand is made for throwaway units, not high quality. Atlas uses this scare tactic with nearly everyone they visit to sell units. Atlas staff are only friendly if you are buying a system from them, otherwise they are rude and not helpful. NEVER CALL THEM FOR A SERVICE CALL NO MATTER HOW DESPERATE YOU ARE. Atlas trains their staff to look specifically for "hairline cracks" in heat exchanges to take pics to scare the homeowners. The tech even told me about this with some training in Vegas or by people from Vegas who train them to first look for cracks and ignore the issue if a crack is found. The crack was not a crack btw, verified by multiple other techs with over 30 years experience. The next day I had multiple technicians come out and diagnose the issue, it was a pressure sense ($40 part) and it fired right up. They ALL measured the CO due to the report that the heat exchange may be cracked, 1ppm was the reading on all of their $1000 devices and all of them said the unit would keep running just fine without risk to my family. We decided since the unit was 18 years old and did lack at cooling in the summer it was probably the best time to buy anyways and after doing my research and having 5 different companies come out for quotes. We ended up with a beautiful Trane system that was above and beyond what ATLAS offered in their $22k package and we paid less than $16K for all of it, including some pretty sweet air filtration upgrades that weren't even options at ATLAS. If you have read this far you hopefully know by now not to call them.

Our heat pumps compressor stopped working at the end of October of 2018. We were lucky enough to have a 14 yea or old system that ran off R22 Freon! So replacing the entire system was the best option. Heat Pump and air handler. I called at 6 pm and a service tech came out at 7pm to look at it same day. After we talked it over and decided to replace the system the tech had a salesman at the house at 9pm. We wrote up the deal late Wednesday night and they installed the new system on Friday morning! I didn't really notice how much of a hack job my old system was until the finished the install! Absolutely awesome! The installers went the extra mile to tape up all the corners, re install my humidifier and just made it look nice, really happy with the detailed install. Since install I've called 3 times for service. 1. Because the safety trip sensor tripped because the drain clogged and it would not drain so it tripped the acoil to shut off so the only thing running was the fan, no ac. I cleared the clog and it started back up but by the time I noticed it was clogged the inside temp has rose to 80 degrees. It was about 90 outside and it was not cooling down so I thought something was wrong and called for service, the drives about hours later same day. 2. It was in the winter and was loud, I could hear the heat pump onside like never before, I called service and the arrived an hour and a half later, no problem found, was educated that some times in extra cold conditions they can get a little louder than usual. 3. Another 90 degree day and the temp was holding at its set point but was odd that it never shut off all day and it was not blowing very hard out of the registers, I removed the 4" filter, it seemed pretty dirty and I looked into the housing to see the acoil and it was iced up. I know the only reason your acoil iced up is from Lowe charge/Freon or not enough air flow , dirty filter. I put in a new filter turned on the heat to melt the ice off the acoil faster and called service at 11pm, tech arrived 30 minutes later. Explained to him what I did, he checked The charge, agrees just dirty filter probably slowed air flow and cause it to ice up. Thing was I just had preventive maintenance 3 month earlier and they changed the filter then. ‍ Every time I called atlas from the first problem to the most current they always show up super quick. Never paid a dime for anything and never a problem with the equipment. The reason I do 4 starts is because after install they were supposed send out a QA person to check work, give information and schedule inspection, That never happened. Also the price was kinda pricy, well above industry standards, but when it's 100 degrees, humid was hell, and you have a problem, you call them, and they show up, and not 9 days later leaving you to roast! Thank you for always being there! UNDER REVIEW FOR FURTHER UPDATE - MORE PROBLEMS FOUND AND ONGOING ISSUES!

In my opinion Atlas Butler has significant deficiencies when dealing with customers and their technicians do not consistently meet a high bar of quality one would expect. I was an Elite member, who paid a monthly premium to have what I thought was a higher tier of service and response when dealing with my HVAC needs. Here has been my recent experience. On January 14th I called in for service. I was told I would receive a call back right away. 30 minutes later, still without a call, I called again, and was told I would receive a call soon. 2 hours or so later, still without a call, I got through to the office, and someone was promptly dispatched. My furnace was then repaired at a cost nearly double the competition in the local area. As an elite member I am given a 35% discount on parts, so to find that I was still paying nearly double is disturbing. Regardless, my furnace was working again. I called the next day to share my poor customer service experience, and was told that a manager would contact me back within 2 business days. That never happened. Which means, that 3/4 phone calls resulted in no results - clearly showing Atlas Butler cares very little about the customer experience! Again, I had to call for service on February 11th. I gave instructions on the phone to call my number which was the first number, and not the 2nd number on my account. Explicit instructions so that my sleeping partner was not unnecessarily woken up. However, my partner was called 3x and my phone was called 0x to let me know someone was en route. Technician arrives, and he was quite pleasant. However, he was very poorly trained, if trained at all. He didn't know basic functions of the furnace, and in fact told me to call an electrician because my gas furnace was only getting 120v. A comedy of errors ensued, and let's just say I am beyond thankful he was able to call a more experienced technician on the phone because this guy had no business opening my furnace to begin with. Again, on February 12th, I called the office to recap them of my customer experiences. This time a manager did call me back and was quite apologetic, which is always nice. However, all she offered was an apology for this comedy of errors I had experienced. Not acceptable for someone paying $30+ a month and not receiving any quality. She also offered to make a note on my account to only send good/senior technicians - which in my opinion is so frightening. Here she is openly acknowledging that portions of the staff are not capable of performing simple duties - why would I ever pay for this? You should not pay for it either. This is one star, low level service that people should avoid. There are better options in Columbus, and those options are also cheaper. Avoid Atlas Butler.

I have used Atlas Butler a few times over the years and just today had them replace my 22yr old AC unit, which just failed. As with everything you get what you pay for. I called several company's to come out to inspect my AC unit. Atlas was the only place I called that was able to come out the same day. That's important when it's 90+ degrees outside. The field tech that came out was on time and very professional. He explained what he felt was the problem and gave me what he felt were my options. This came down to fixing or replacing. As you might expect, replacing was very high on the list. This is where I felt there was a problem that led me to subtract a star. Although I didn't check into it, I've been around the block a few times and know when something isn't right. The prices to fix that I was given were very high. I'm fairly positive they are inflated to make replacement look like the better choice. Had my unit been not as old this would have upset me but seeing that mine was 22yrs old and pretty much at the end of it's lifespan, which I had already factored in. I was already leaning towards replacement anyway. So don't be surprised when dealing with them that fixing is going to probably cost more than if you went with an independent contractor. Once I had made that decision they sent over a sales rep to speak with me about what unit to replace mine with, cost and financing. As with the service tech. The sales rep was on time and professional. This is where some might have an issue. Cost. Pricing based on my research is on the high side of the average cost of an AC unit for my size home but it was within the normal price range I found online, so not out of the ordinary by any means but still on the higher side. I made my decision and Atlas had a crew out 2 days later. AC failed on Sunday night. I called Atlas Monday morning and the install was done Wednesday morning. As with the other reps the work crew was very professional. Contacted me with a text when they were on their way and showed up on time. All of these things matter. Hiring the right people take time and money. Making sure they are properly trained takes time and money. This is what I mean when I mention you get what you pay for. I realize that if I shopped around I probably could have saved some money. But sometimes that takes a lot of time, time I really could be putting towards other things. Bottom line, Atlas made it simple. And sometime that's money well spent. Not sure why my profile shows me living in San Fran but I'm in Columbus Ohio.

This place is a joke! The blower motor went out in our furnace. I called Atlas Butler because I thought they were a popular and respectable company. The tech came out and diagnosed the problem and said that it would cost a little over 1000.00 to repair but that our furnace is so old that we would be better off replacing the whole thing. We planned on doing that so he said that he would call the sales guy to come out and the tech left. After talking with the sales guy who was kinda rude he insisted that we not only needed a new furnace but we also needed a new a/c unit, all new duct work, and the return air vent needed to be made bigger. The furnace alone was going to cost according to him a little over 4000.00. 4 grand for something that I can get elsewhere for a little over 2 grand! we decided to just replace the blower motor at this time. So the sales guy said that he would call the tech and let him know that he needed to come back and do the repair. I waited all day in a cold house and the tech never showed up and never called. I ended up having to call the main number to see what the problem was. I spoke to the manager who did nothing but make excuses. Two days later the tech showed back up to make the repair. 1000.00 for a 200.00 part plus 83.00 added on at the last minute because they didn't have the part in stock and had to have it overnighted from their manufacturer in Nebraska! Here I sit a month later and my furnace has not been right since the repair. It now makes this loud vibrating noise. I had them come back out and the tech said nothing was wrong that it was just from my furnace being dirty and that he could clean it for another 150.00. I find it odd that this vibration and noise didnt start until after they worked on the furnace and all the sudden it is so dirty that its loud and vibrating. I call bull on that one. This place does nothing but try to get you to spend more money, they way over charge, and honestly I feel that they dont fully fix things so that they can get you to have another service call just to get more out of you. Gotta love the greed.

THE SETUP*** ATLAS BUTLER did a service check on my 15 year old furnace...11/25/13 in the early afternoon! The agent looked at my furnace...took my thermostat apart.. The wiring to the furnace/heat pump and then turned off my power to the heat pump outside leaving me with FIREPLACE HEAT ONLY!! He then advised that my furnace was spitting out 4 parts per million carbon monoxide! He said that my furnace will be condemned and I needed a new one and a new heat pump...! He then called the office and said they would be sending out another person and left...without putting MY STUFF back together!!! 8:30pm-9pm the other agent arrives and was amazed at the travesty the first agent left behind... Apologized for the mess..and instructed that he would have to get in touch with the office and have another AB Contractor come out in the morning of 11/26/13 to go over in detail what I MAY NEED! The CATCH*** The rep advised that he's been doing this almost all his life (35-40 years) and he would ONLY put in my house what's needed and he would really take care of my homes needs! After detailed deliberations with himself...because I was totally clueless he came up with this... THE PUNCH TO THE THROAT and BELLY** Totaling ...wait.. WAIT FOR IT ...Hold up... $9900!!! Shut YOUR MOMMAS FRONT DOOR!! The TRUTH*** NORTHLAND Heating and Cooling were called... 11/27/13 They sent an agent out within 15 minutes.. Did their service checks.. Carbon monoxide well being check....and had no readings PERIOD! The agent stood right next to the closest vent/register!! Services to my inspection came up to $120...and I FORCIBLY chipped in $20 more for the agents lunch with a happy God sent smile! THANKS for being right on Northland H/C and doing the job!! LUCY ...AB....YOU GOT SOME EXPLAINING TO DO....! C'MON MAN! Left stuff unplugged..or Off...so that they could hustle and flow!!! Tell me why you would lie to the public about fake cracks and carbon monoxide...just to break the clients back!! No cracks as AB said to the Heat exchanger!!

We recently used Atlas Butler in New Albany to replace our hot water heater tanks with a tankless water heater. Not cheap. 15% more than the competition. During the sale process Atlas sold me on a filter they can install on my main water line that was to help with sediment build up. Shortly after installation we notice a musty smell in our basement but couldn't find any water. After a couple of weeks, and few more rainstorms, the water finally accumulated enough to seep through the carpet. Sure enough, we were having ground water leak in through the location where our main water line entered in the basement. Clearly, during install of the filter Atlas has broken the seal that keeps the water out of going into the basement. We had Atlas come right out to inspect. They sent their plumbing leadership team out to look at it as well. They gave us the run around. Asked that we get the city out to make sure a broken water line wasn't causing this issue. All clear. After several calls and messages to Atlas their reply was that they didn't feel liable. The guys at the top wouldn't even take our call. There was a water stain on the wall that looked 10 years old and said that we had issues prior. We've been in our house for 7 years and never had a drop of water enter our basement. So, it's just ironic that in the area where Atlas was working, we suddenly had a leak??? No accountability. No responsibility. Now........no credibility. I have given them ample opportunity to step up and do the right thing. Just something to show that they cared.......that maybe it was not just a coincidence. Atlas chose a different route. On a positive note. We are glad we went with a tankless water heater. Just wish we had someone else perform the work. Will not make that mistake again. Learn from our pain.

These employees of Atlas Butler were sadly trying to take advantage of my wife and I, in our cold house, with wild claims and bogus predictions to get us to buy a new furnace that WE DID NOT NEED!!! -Inherently suggesting that this is the way they were trained: My furnace went out on December 23, the day of the crazy cold storm. I cannot tell how excited I was to find a company with a technician available to come to service our non-working furnace. Atlas Butler sent a technician who was very knowledgable and proceeded to check and explain what was going on. After some tests he determined that the problem was the gas valve. He explained that they do not carry those on the truck and that the parts supplier in town was no longer open. He recommended that we buy a new furnace as he did not know what else might be wrong with my 11 year old high efficiency furnace. He did not know how much that new furnace would cost. Amazingly, he could get one of his estimators there in short order, despite the crazy cold weather. The estimator came and proceeded to calculate the size furnace we would need and decided the same size would be appropriate. He then quoted an astronomical number, which he revised on our balking, revised again and then again. I refused the new furnace offer. On Tuesday, 5 days, when the supply house was open, we had a tech from another company come and install a new gas valve, (for $400.00 lower than the Atlas Butler part quote) and the unit is working great. These employees of Atlas Butler were sadly trying to take advantage of my wife and I, in our cold house, with wild claims and bogus predictions to get us to buy a new furnace that WE DID NOT NEED!!! -Inherently suggesting that this is the way they were trained:

On a recent service visit, the company condemned our 10-year-old furnace, citing a failed heat exchanger as the reason. They shut off the gas supply to the unit, labeled it as unusable until repaired or replaced, and disconnected a supply hose within the furnace, rendering it inoperable even if the gas were to be turned back on. This action was taken despite the fact that the heat exchanger in question is covered under a lifetime warranty by the manufacturer. The furnace was installed by this same company just 10 years and 4 months ago, and has received annual maintenance from them since installation. During the visit the technician strongly encouraged a full HVAC system replacement, stating that "they don't make them like they used to." They attributed the alleged corrosion of the heat exchanger to condensation in the basement, claiming it rendered the unit unsafe. Concerned by the recommendation, we sought a second opinion from another licensed HVAC company. Their technician found no issues with the heat exchanger and stated that the observed corrosion was normal and expected from regular system operation. Furthermore, they discovered that the system had been set to operate at lower efficiency and that the air intake was installed improperly, contrary to the manufacturer's installation instructions, which are still attached to the unit. We believe the Atlas Butler acted inappropriately by: - Misrepresenting the condition of the heat exchanger. - Failing to honor the manufacturer's lifetime warranty. - Disabling the furnace in a way that forced us to consider immediate replacement. - Encouraging unnecessary and costly system replacement.

Is there a 0 rating? DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They quoted a leak check, adding refrigerant, and overall check at $887 without a membership. $887!!! It's been two days since they added the Freon and the ac unit almost isn't cooling at all- there is a leak in the outdoor line set and BEFORE they added the Freon it was still cooling!!! I'm so pissed at being suckered to A YEARS long membership. The leak check they did was also bullshit- they didn't check the outdoor line set really- they took my word on it that I had another guy come look at it earlier. The other guy used a shovel and DUG to find the leak. They didn't do sh*t except use the inspection wand ABOVE THE SOIL just where the lineset goes into the soil. They were responsive but NOBODY mentioned cost or the service agreement that you're basically FORCED TO SIGN- for a minimal length of a YEAR. Come to think of it let's do some math: Cost of inspection/Freon add without service agreement- $887.00 Cost of inspection/Freon add *with service agreement at the middle/$23.95 a month membership- $471.00 (paid at the time of the service) + $288(annual membership) = $759!!!! But apparently they give you discounts on repairs and things but you STILL have to pay for the actual repairs. They ITEMIZE EVERYTHING to different "levels" end costs but everything is very overpriced. I don't need to see a photo and profile of the repair person!!! Also the actual cost of everything service is broken down on page in a book. The repair guy said it's all online but NO IT ISNT. It's not available on the website. Or maybe it is, hidden away in some confusing corner.
