What 6307 Reviews Tell Us
Emergency Response
Fast same-day service when technician arrives. Five reviews praise quick dispatch and under-1-hour job completion on drain/clog work.
Poor communication and no follow-up. Eight reviews cite unanswered calls, never receiving promised call-backs from managers, dispatch failures, and lack of transparency about delays.
What To Watch Out For
Chronic no-shows and missed appointment windows. Twelve reviews document technicians failing to arrive, calling hours late, or canceling same-day without notice.
Dramatic pricing discrepancies. Eight reviews report quotes 2–4× competitor prices, bait-and-switch tactics (advertised $79/$99 jobs suddenly $286–$2,645), and refusal to honor written estimates.
Poor workmanship and incomplete repairs. Four reviews document improper installations (galvanic corrosion from mixed materials), leaks not fixed after service, lied-about repairs, and jobs that fail within days.
Aggressive upselling and misleading diagnoses. Three reviews allege technicians push unnecessary $9,000–$35,000 jobs, fabricate problems (pipe collapse that second opinion disproved), or quote inflated labor costs ($800 for 10-minute control board swap).
Poor communication and no follow-up. Eight reviews cite unanswered calls, never receiving promised call-backs from managers, dispatch failures, and lack of transparency about delays.
Unprofessional on-site conduct. Three reviews describe technicians using facilities without permission, arriving out of uniform, leaving messes, and damaging property without apology or compensation.

I needed my main line cleaned out because it was clogged due to some flushable wipes so I tried cleaning it myself for three hours and I saw I wasn’t getting anywhere so I looked on the internet and saw they were running a special for $79 main line clean out and gave them a call. I called them at 4:30 and they were at my house by 6:45. Elijah was out technician and he was great! So polite, knowledgeable, and efficient! Elijah was in and out within 45 minutes! I was super impressed!! What could have been a multiple day issue was resolved in a matter of a few hours. Thank you to this company and thank you Elijah ! Definitely will use this company in the future!
We have used ARS in the past for our AC installation and we continue to use them due to the nature of good work quality and best in service. Our service representative Kevin and are two install technicians Saul and Paul made our situation and experience pleasant. Saul and Paul are very knowledgeable and understanding of what to do. I asked questions and they automatically had an answer and was up to par with the installation. Overall ARS knows how to build their team to provide a good service and product to us consumers. Thank you ARS now our family can stay warm and cool at the same time.
Their hydrojetting service was flawless. It was a drain we had been trying to clear ourselves with various machines. Their hydrojetting service completed the job in less than 30 minutes. Their 2 technician was nice. They provided same-day service. I would have been more satisfied if their prices were a bit lower, but in the end, I'm satisfied and grateful.
I must of just been unlucky after looking through all of these reviews. My wife and I just moved into our home and one of the toilets were leaking from the backside. To start off, my appointment was scheduled any time between 10-2. 2 o'clock rolls around, no call/text about the plumber running late because of another job. I waited till about 3 and called their number to see what was going on. The woman I spoke to said she was going to reach out to dispatch or plumber, I can't remember. Another hour passes, still hadn't heard anything. I called again around 4 and they said the plumber was running behind because of another job. I said, "do you guys normally let people know that kind of thing?" The woman said, "yes sir." That's all she said. Anyways, the plumber gets here at 6:30 that evening, you know, only 4.5 hours after the appointment window had closed. He said he needed to change out the bolts and gasket. I said, "okay great." He finishes the work and goes on his way. An hour later I use the restroom and hear dripping from the back of the toilet. So here we are present day. My appointment window was this morning from 8-12. I stayed home from work hoping that they'd get here early enough so I could go in for a half day. It is now 4:16 and 1 phone call later, still no plumber has shown up. Completely unacceptable. The picture shows how much water has leaked since this morning around 7 a.m.
They came out for a backed up laundry line. Never augged any lines. Ran a camera down the front out clean out and told me all my pipes had collapsed under my house Tried to get my to sign a contract for 35,000 to replace them. And tried to get me to sign papers for a 10 thousand dollar loan to get started Guaranteed me I would have to stay in a hotel and my insurance would cover it all. Second opinion, augged the pipes, tested for sewer leaks and there were none. This company is a rip off big time. Please don't ever use the. Baker brother's came, augged all the lines, ran several test. And all line are clear.
Recap: I hired ARS Rescue Rooter for work to be done on Sunday since I was unable to use water due to sewage backup. They lied/ignored me until after 9pm then said they wouldn't be out to do anything. They came out and it took 2 days to diagnose my issue. Tuesday at 3pm I canceled any work to be done the next day. They showed up anyway, and started working without letting me know they were there. I went outside and let them know that I canceled the day before and they said they didn't hear anything. I canceled the contract with a manger and I feel they are now overcharging me for work they started doing that day. Do not hire ARS Plumbing they will lie to you and when you cancel they will try to fleece you. I hired a different company that quoted the same work to be done for $4,500 as opposed to the $9,850 that ARS is charging. Find any other company. Their management didn't care, their dispatch didn't care, the only people that were respectful were their call center associates. Details: My parents were in town and they used my house and noticed that the toilet was draining slowly and then noticed that the sewage was backing up into the master shower right, that drain being the last drain before leaving the house to the outside sewage pipes. After running a snake and using drain-o, the issue was determined not to be within the house. Opening the outlet (or cleanout) cap located outside the house, sewage gushed out showing that it wasn't draining to the city sewage line. Since the issue was outside the house we found ARS Rescue Rooter online and called. They said they would be out that day. Calls started around 1pm on Sunday requesting service Original Appointment was set from 4-6pm Sunday Sunday 5:27p Gabriel (dispatcher) called me to tell me that one tech was sick and one tech got into an accident asking if he could reschedule for Tuesday. I let him know that I couldn't use my toilet or shower and had to work the next day, I had to have service, and I asked what time could they be out. He relented and said they would be there during the 8p hour. Sunday 7:57p I called to get an update, since I had no contact, the call center said they couldn't get a hold of a dispatcher but they would send them a message requesting a call back. Sunday 9:11p I called to check on service and the call center said they would have a dispatcher call me. The dispatcher said that she couldn't get reach the tech on-call and no one would be out that evening. She let me know that she has escalated the issue to the management level and a manager would call me Monday Morning. No manager called Monday or Tuesday. Monday 11:28a I called again to request service to get someone out to my house in order to fix the issue since I could not use the toilet or shower Monday 12:02p I received a message that a technician was on his way and he arrived soon after. During his visit he tried to see if he could flush out the pipe, but found dirt and roots when he tried to 'snake' the drain. He tried to run a camera to find where the issue is, but his camera was broken. He was able to get the pipe working enough to not back up into my house. He let me know that another technician would be out on Tuesday to finish the camera work to find the issues. Tuesday 8:46a The dispatcher called to confirm that someone would be coming out the same day, which I confirmed Tuesday 9:52a technician arrived and started work on getting camera work to find the issue. Tuesday 10:49a technician finished work and let me know what was happening. Found 3 compromised portions of the sewage drain, but couldn't get past the last block due to the almost full collapse. quoted me $9,850 to 1.) Replace main building sewer between house and property line up to forty foot by pipe bursting, and/or open trench. Includes New double cleanouts near house with two risers and 2.) Locate and repair water leak in front yard, pull permit with city for inspection. I signed and agreed to have the work done and paid half down: $4,925. They planned to start work Tuesday morning sometime. No confirmation sent to me. Tuesday 2:30p I contact a second company and they quote me $4,500 total for the same work to be done Tuesday 2:48p I contact ARS and let them know I want to move reschedule work to be done to October 11, while I figure out logistics and to cancel the work to be done on Wednesday. Wednesday 8:19a Gabriel called and asked me if I had rescheduled the work. I said yes I had rescheduled and to cancel the contract completely, he hangs up. Wednesday 8:30a I found the ARS Plumbing team on my lawn starting work. I told them I had canceled the work today and had canceled the contract this morning. They had already begun doing work and had started marking the yard with spray paint. Wednesday 8:47a I call ARS again and let them know that I need to speak to someone about the issues I am having, that I need to cancel the contract (Texas gives you three days to cancel), and that a manag
I hope this review can assist anyone in avoiding the same scenario I had. We called ARS for low water pressure issues in one of our showers. When their plumber couldn't make it out the next day it was rescheduled for the following day, in the grand scheme of things not that big of a deal I understand when appts run longer than you hoped. When Austin arrived however, I was shocked at his behavior toward my wife and I. We do a fair bit of our own repairs around the house but there are some lines we dont care to goof around with. Electricity for one, water heaters for another. That being said we had already tried a few resolutions, cleaning the cartridge behind the shower lever for one. We did determine it was the hot water with no pressure while the cold water seemed normal. We had cleaned out the filter in the tankless heater but it was free of any occlusions. Their first fix was to run a solution through the heater to clear any issues. No fix, then they checked the gaskets/nipples for the hoses going from the water heater and found the metals were mismatched. We had no idea that was a possible issue and what he showed us was an extremely rusty, nearly fully occluded fittings. Obviously, we agreed to having those changed hoping that was the hidden cause. However this was not it. They then spent another few hours working in the shower itself taking pieces apart and failing to find any issue. At this point they insisted it MUST be the cartridge and we should swap it and it would cost me nearly $300 for part and labor. I refused, thanked them for their time and was left with an extremely sour taste in my mouth as we spent $800 already and they had NO idea what the issue was and despite changing the 4 gaskets/nipples out, had fixed nothing regarding the water pressure. While we ordered the cartridge online, along with a full replacement for the bathroom shower fixture, for under $100 and swapped the cartridge ourselves, a problem was found. The gaskets they had replaced the previous day, were leaking and not properly installed. I naturally called and insisted they return to repair the shoddy installation. The next day they came and while fixing the leak, said they wanted to try to resolve the water pressure, he had brought 2 of the cartridges to try out since he was unsure of the size. I explained politely that we had already replaced it and it did not improve the problem. He wanted to go ahead and try anyway just to see. So again I am being ignored by the same plumber. He swapped the cartridge and not only did this not resolve the water pressure, but NOW the shower was leaking actively, even when completely shut off. They spent 2 more hours swap back and forth the cartridge with no results. After trying to tell me it would be another large sum to try the next thing they wanted to try, I asked them to leave. They still had not solved the leaking shower now that they had caused. Right before leaving however, he came out to inform me that hey, they did get the leak to stop, still no water pressure for hot water, sorry about that. Fine I will find a different service at this point. Then, and this is part that pissed me off the most. When trying to get hot water from my kitchen sink I realized it had zero water flow. Cold water was fine but the hot water would not flow at all. When we looked at the hot water heater, we found the valve closed for hot. Not big deal we turned it to the open position. Then we heard it, the water running in the shower. We checked and the handle was in the off position but the water was leaking. Just as it had been when they screwed it up previously. MEANING THEIR FIX, that he told me about was him just turning the valve off. While making it sound as though they fixed the problem. So for anyone keeping score we have 4 gaskets improperly installed and leaking, no water pressure problems fixed, and NOW a leaking shower after being lied to, all for the small price of $800. This is unacceptable and after calling in a week ago to have this address I have not been called back still.
Not a great experience, but I will say first off, they fixed the problem. So we start having the toilets draining very slowly and we know that it's a problem because about 5 years ago, we had the same problem and had to have our main drain cleaned. No big deal. The last company, a different one, of course, was able to snake our drain from the toilet that I had removed and it was pretty simple. They were in and out in about an hour. So I totally expected the same thing this time. We looked online and of course the "$88 drain cleaning" caught my eye and we called ARS. They wouldn't quote us over the phone, well, it's after hours on a weekend and this is their answering service beyond that. "What's the difference in cost if have them come out tonight (Saturday) or if they come out on Monday?" "That would be an additional $150." Okay, so it's worth living with a slow drain for two days until Monday. We schedule for Monday morning. First off, they'll give you a window of 8am-12pm. They then called at 8am and told me they'd be there in 30-45 minutes. Mike, the first guy arrived at 9am. Fine, I can believe that traffic isn't great, so no big deal. I had already left for work and The Wife took care of the visit. She said that Mike was not aware that he at one point stood uncomfortably close to her and she took a step back. He seemed to be pushing for an up-sell instead of just doing what we were asking for, "clean the drain," for $300, he was trying to convince us that we needed a clean-out installed at the tune of "I can't quote you the price." but when we asked "Over or under $1000?" He said over. Mike was knowledgeable but pushy. No thanks, just snake the drain. So then, he has to call in a different person, David, to do the work. What? Who thought this up? So The Wife waits around for another hour and he shows up and he gets on the roof (yup, ARS, for liability purposes, I'm sure, won't run the snake down the toilet. I get it, it just wasn't an issue the for the last company) and runs the snake down the vent 5 times and gets roots every time. This clearly means we have a lot of roots and David says that there's likely more roots but his snake is at it's limit. He suggests that we get a camera down there to see what's going on and to possibly locate a clean-out and it's free of charge. Great! That's awesome. Please send out the camera guy. We pay our $320 and our drains are working. David was knowledgeable, friendly and courteous. So today 1/31, Darrell, the camera guy shows up at my door. He summarizes where we are and says that we should get a camera down there because at any moment, the main drain line could clog up again. Also, it would not be free of charge, it would be $300+ and because of the mistake, he could offer it to us for $100 off AND if the drain needed to be dug up and replaced, we could apply that $200+ to the repairs. He then says something about having to locate the drain before running the camera down which, now that I think about it, why would that need to be done? The location of the drain line doesn't have any bearing on looking for roots. Anyhow, I decline the camera inspection and Darrell tells me that he's been doing this for over 20 years and he'll probably be back because the drain would clog. "It's a $100 gamble. If it clogs tomorrow, I'll pay full price and I'll have to call you back." And he continues to tell me that he's seen it so many times. Well, yeah, but you haven't convinced me. How many times have you said the same thing and it didn't happen? Your anecdotal evidence is of no value to me. Especially when you're trying to sell me your services. He says okay and he gives me his card so I'll know who to call when my drain clogs again. Well, that's not necessary either. Definitely have had better, but am glad that everything is draining properly for now. Update: 8/8/2018 - drains are still clear. Don't even know where I put Darrell's card.
I contacted ARS to fix the water shutoff valve by the house. The evening before, I shut the water off to replace a faucet valve and when I went to turn it back on, it broke. It was broke in the off position! I explained the issue in detail, but they said they needed to see before they could comment. I totally get that, but I have a point about it later. They also explained that there would be a $50 service call that would be waved if they could not fix the issue. I agreed to the terms and they sent someone out. Earlier that morning, before I decided to call them, I dug out the area to expose the pipes going into the house and the pipe coming from the street. There was about 1.5 feet of exposed pipe in both directions. I also dug deep enough to have some working room under the pipes. Initially, I was going to try to fix it myself, but I am not very good at soldering plumbing. When the plumber got to the house, I showed him the issue and he started to try to fix the valve in place. I would have been super happy if he could have fixed it there! When he needed the water off at the street, I turned it off, when he wanted it back on for a test, I did that too. I helped as much as I could, but stayed out of his way. About 20 minutes into checking, he determined that he would need to replace the entire valve. I asked how much that would cost, and he said "you're looking at around $900." I was taken back a bit, but I needed the water back on, so was probably going to agree. He stepped away for a bit and came back with a quote for $1,300! He said they'd send a crew in the next day or two, so they weren't even going to do it right then. I said, "A crew? I already dug it all out. Why so much?" He said, "I don't make the prices man." I just stood there for a moment and politely declined. He said, "Well, you still have to pay the service fee," which I paid. So, why two stars? Because, it would have been nice if the guy on the phone would have warned me that if they needed to replace the valve, it would be over a grand! To me, it seems like they know that people will turn that offer down, but it is an easy $50. I mean the guy did try to fix the valve, so that's where the 1 extra star comes from. If he hadn't tried so hard, this company would get 1 start. I ended up calling a friend of a friend that is a certified plumber, working towards his master plumber (not exactly sure what the proper terms are). He came out that evening and replaced everything for $450. He said a lot of the big companies will charge a lot for issues they know a home owner absolutely has to have fixed. Like not having water. Maybe these guys do a good job on gigs they actually work on, but looking through these reviews, that seems unlikely. Do yourself a favor and contact a local, independent plumber with good reviews.
I thought it would be a good idea to get a national service provider when I bought my house, which was a 2 year old foreclosure. This is not the service. I needed a cartridge replaced on 2 of the faucets for the showers because they had not been used for a while when I moved in. The tech that came out was friendly and knowledgeable. He quoted me a rate that was about $100 too high based on a quick Google search of the rates, so he called his supervisor, and lo and behold, a better rate was available. I felt like quite the negotiator. I also figured as long as I was well-informed about the rates, I could use this service. So I ordered the package for maintenance on the water heater, a/c/heater, plumbing so I didn't have any worries--all maintenance would be done and I didn't have to do anything besides be home twice a year for 4 hours. Unfortunately, I have had endless problems with them and the services that they have provided. One tech told me that I needed a whole new toilet when it was just that there was a tampon applicator from the previous owner clogging the toilet. I called and complained that I could not possibly need a whole new toilet or all of my plumbing redone and to send another tech for a second opinion...they sent the SAME one and he said the SAME thing--I needed a new toilet and possibly my pipes redone because the pipe thing they stick down the toilet was stirring up 'dirt'....on the third floor of my townhouse. He couldnt explain how dirt could get that high up in the pipes either. On the third call, I got a new guy who said I misunderstood the first guy both times and took the toilet off, found the tampon applicator and voila, all was fine. I also had a tech (at a regular service call) turn the water heater up only to be told when it broke 6 months later that it was turned up way too high and led to the element melting and costing $400. The tech was shocked that a 3 year old water heater would have this problem. After countless unreturned calls over the course of the past 5 months, I finally got someone in the service department to talk to me and he said there's no way that turning it up was the cause....so his tech didn't know what he was talking about. Also, about a month after my water heater service call, my neighbor (who I had recommended ARS to in the early days) had an ARS a/c tech service his A/C and the next day it broke...come to find out, he had a 'fake' certification and was fired. Not cool ARS, not cool. My advice is to steer clear of the lottery for good help at ARS.
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! My husband and I just purchased a home in Grand Prairie. After our first night in the house, we noticed the shower wasn't draining as it was supposed to which then caused the toilet to be out of service for about 20 minutes after you shower. We contacted ARS Rescue Rooter on a Saturday. The tech was supposed to show up between 4-8 PM. Ramauldo showed up at 6:30 in his company vehicle but in regular street clothes. Comes in to discuss our issue then proceeds to tell us he will have to come back in the morning to cable and camera the lines for us. He arrives an hour and a half later than his appointment time which was 7am. Again out of uniform. He then proceeds to ask us if he could use a 5 gallon bucket and paper towels. The quote we received was $770!!!! I'm sorry but if I'm paying you $770 you BETTER have your own bucket and paper towels!!!!! Ramauldo made a complete mess in the bathroom and didn't clean up after himself. After he left my husband and I were completely shocked with the amount we paid. My husband then proceeds to call to discuss if the price we paid was accurate on the following Monday. Since they claim they have set prices! As he was talking to the CSR, they stated that they would look into it and give us a call back. A week goes by and no word. My husband then calls them again. They tell us the receipt they're looking at only shows $660!!!! You could imagine our surprise when the yellow copy of our receipt showed $770! The CSR says she would pass this along to manager and they would contact us back. You guessed it! Another week passes and no call back!! He calls again this time asking to speak to a manager. He then speaks to Jamie W who confirms that they see our price as only being $660! He asks my husband to email copies of our receipt which shows $770 paid in cash. Jamie W tells my husband he will review and get back with us. And again, a week passes and no call back. This has been 3 weeks and still nothing has been resolved! Absolutely ridiculous!!! So what does my husband do, he calls them again. This time he talks to Jamie W who still cannot tell us why the price difference but has been given permission to grant us a partial refund. I guess this is their way of getting us to shut up and go away. All I know is we will NEVER use this company again nor will we EVER recommend them to anyone. I'm in utter disbelief that they run a business like this!!! Save yourself the trouble and DO NOT USE ARS RESCUE ROOTER!!!!
I had a slow drain in my kitchen sink so i got on the internet found Ars Rescue Rooter offering a 99 dollar main drain line cleaning for up to 100 feet of drain line. Also it said with proper drain cleanout access which i have at the rear of my house at the end of the Main Drain Line. So I called and scheduled for a tech to come and snake the drain line. Which in just a couple of hours a tech arrived i greeted him and we started to discuss the job needed he informed me as if he already knew my kitchen drain was not on the Main Drain Line but was on a branch line that was not covered on the 99 dollar drain cleaning even with a drain ci aasleanout access at the rear of my house. Now instead of 99 dollars it would be 418.00 dollars just to walk around the house to snake the drain from a drain cleanout access at the end of the Main Drain Line. The tech stated happens everyday and even said it has been discussed in their meetings miss representing there services with false advertising most people consider there drain lines as one main drain until the tech says its a branch line. Take note when i called Ars i stated i had a slow drain in my kitchen sink and had a cleanout access on the back of the house which i asked if that was included for the 99 dollar drain cleanout i was informed up to 100 ft of drain line. Take in mind my house is only1200 sq ft my whole drain system is not 100 ft . To snake the house from the rear would actually be starting at the end of the Main Drain Line which would make sense to clear the Main Drain Line from the end of the line all the way to the street out front. I have had this same problem before and Levy and Sons showed up and snaked the drain from the rear of the house through the cleanout access and it was clear for many years till now. Please be aware of the way they are baiting with the 99 dollar price . And the tech knew if it was a kitchen sink it was not covered and said it would be 418.00 to do the same work from the rear of the house. They are taking advantage of people who need there sink to drain like myself but the false advertising should not be tolerated. Please avoid Ars Rescue Rooter for your plumbing needs ask Questions which i did there are Honest people out there read reviews on companies you plan on doing business best way to stay away from these problems if would have i would not have called Ars Levy and Sons did clear the drain for 99 dollars years ago. I was ordering a replacement water heater from Lowes and typically install them myself. I saw an option to get a quote from their recommended service provider so I applied all details to inquire. They called me the very next morning which was Christmas day. I didn't expect this, but happy to proceed and they offered several options that same day to come out for assessment and quote. 2pm - 6pm was the agreed upon time frame. I made arrangements with family and cleared out the garage/workshop to give them clearance. At 6pm, it was a no show. I called them shortly after and they apologized, confirming they would have a service tech contact me in the next 20mins. Again, nothing. I pretty much wrote them off until they called the very next morning. I took the opportunity to give them an ear full. They asked for the opportunity to make things right, so they scheduled a visit the same day and I accepted. The Manager (Danny) assured me they do not work on Christmas day but I explained to him that I spoke to two different individuals who approached me and offered me Christmas day visit. The service tech showed up as agreed Dec 26th. He made no attempt to look at my water heater and went straight to calculating numbers. An exact replacement with tax and accessories was at $600 from Lowes and I explained that I already had the make/model in mind, and in my Lowes shopping cart. As he was calculating he was talking out loud, "I should be able to knock off $200" and minutes later, that got bumped to $300 off. So right away I knew this was going to be a joke. Sort of like a dealership telling me they'll knock off $500 on a fully loaded Cadillac Escalade. When he was done, his quote was $2,645.00 for the tank and installation, and he sent it to my email address which never came. I immediately told him I decline and there's no need to proceed. Later in the date I checked several feedback sites only to find out how awful these folks are with none of the sites reaching 2 stars out of 5. To Lowes, you should be reading all the feedback from your customers. Shame on your for having such poor representation!
I called ARS because I believed them to has some integrity. I am learning that integrity is not a character trait of this company. I had a plumber from ARS come out he found the leak and quoted me a price to cut out some pipe and reseal it. Me being desperate to stop the water leaking behind my walls I agreed that to have him cut out the pipe and seal it. When he came in the house after saying let me go get my supplies i noticed he did not have any pipe with him just what appeared to be some type of glue. I stopped him and said wait you just gonna glue it? He responded agon telling me he was gonna cut out some pipe and seal it. Five minutes later he come out of my utility room and says he done. I noticed he did not have the old cut pipe with him so i assumed it was in my utility room. Well guess what no pipe. I inquires with him and notice his reply in the pictures above. I then called ARS and a manager came out, i explained to him that the job I agreed to have done was not done he then goes to tell me something about sealing coupling. However that is not what I agreed to pay for. At one point the manager tells me that he does not know about pricing and has nothing to do with pricing and 5 min later he tells me that that is the price I paid is the starting price for spot repair. . ARS promotes respecting your home by wearing ahoe covers and protecting your floor. The plumber that came to my home never put on shoe covers and look at the floor wear he smeared stuff on my floor and left it behind my washer for me to clean. When i brought this to the attention of the manager he said he had nothing to do with that and he would have a talk to the plumber because his job is to come out and take pictures, never once did he apologize. If you want to do business with a company of integrity and respect for your home or business I strongly advise to NEVER CALL ARS!
I had used ARS in the past and thought the prices were high for no longer than the time required to do the repairs...but this last incident was the final straw. I had a persistent smell coming from the bathroom which I thought was a sewer leak. The technician suggested changing the wax ring, though he did say he couldn't guarantee that was the actual cause. However, he would not look under the house, where I said I believed the origin of the problem was located. My dog had been pawing at an area next to the bathtub, and I told them something was going on there. They ignored my suggestion. He charged me $300 to replace a $10 wax ring. Then he told me I could caulk around the bottom of the toilet, that might help further. For $300, I'd think THEY could do it. It didn't fix the smell, so I didn't bother calling them again, as they didn't even have any insightful suggestions about where to look next. The next company I called wouldn't physically go under the house either, though they did perform a bunch of expensive smoke tests. Still didn't fix the problem. Finally I called 21st Century Plumbing, told them the whole story, and they sent out 2 guys, including one who was small enough to fit into the crawl space. Less than 5 minutes later, he came out with a dead rat. My dog was right the whole time. We spent over $800 with ARS and the other plumbers just because no one would look where I asked. I understand that plumbing is something of an inexact science, like medicine, and people make mistakes. But I used ARS several times and they were always overpriced, didn't seem to want to go out of their way if a problem was complicated at all, and once had to have them come back when a repair started leaking again. Don't waste your money on ARS. No plumbers are cheap, but you'll find plenty who cost less AND do a better job.
