I would highly recommend TJM Sewer & Plumbing. Todd called me back the very day I left a message. They were here in a couple days to do the work. They were fast, clean and efficient. Christian was the one in charge of the appoint and he was pleasant and explained everything before he did it. We had 4 new faucets put in and they were in and out in about 2 hours. I will hire them again.
Get service and excellent work.
Hey guys, TJM really helped me out. A lot of things are going a little rough now for me and my fiance. But Christian from TJM made our lives lighter and less stressful. He installed a new toilet for us with utmost professionalism. He showed me things about the install I was curious about and took his time to answer all my questions. Call these guys up everyone! I know you won't regret it!
3times did not show up not only at scheduled time, but at all.
The repair we called them for went well, but our bathroom sink stopped working after work was complete. They had to take the sink apart to complete repairs, and despite it being fine prior to work starting we were left with a nonfunctional faucet. We understood the repair took a while with the office having covid, which in their opinion may have exacerbated the issue, but after many attempts to schedule them to come out and replace it (ie: them coming by at the end of the work day *if they had time*) we are still without a working sink. They replaced 40ft of our sewer line but took over a month to put our sink back together, and after trying to schedule the faucet repair over and over we've finally settled for potentially paying someone else to do the job right.
It is such a shame that what I thought started as a good business relationship, quickly turned into false promises and ways to squeeze more money out of us. I contacted the business and (i assume) the owner answered the phone and scheduled a visit to our home. Chris came to the house. I showed him what needed to be done, he went into the crawl space, came out 5 minutes later and quoted me a price for the repairs (replace a cast iron toilet flange and also replace 5 water shutoff valves; compression fittings, no soldering). we agreed on the price and scheduled the work to be done. Half hour past the scheduled time, I called TJM and asked when Chris was going to arrive. 30 minutes after that, Chris calls me and tells me that he had run into issues at his current appointment and had to reschedule for today. Let me just add that we are also replacing the hardwood floors in the house, and before they can start installing the floors, the plumbing work needs to be done. Chris was aware of that. If he was having issues, could he have called his boss and ask if someone else could take care of me? In any case, he shows up today, starts looking at what he needs to do, goes in and out of his truck a couple of times, and I could see it coming......I told my wife "i bet you he is going to ask for more money" Sure enough, 300 bucks more because the flange is in concrete and not in wood like he first thought. I thought he saw that when he looked in the crawlspace!!!! We need to get this taken care of, so I said I'll agree provided that there are no more "surprises". He said that he had to go get his jackhammer and would be back asap. So we go back to the house to check his work and pay him, and the work isn't done, and Chris is nowhere to be found. The flooring people told me that he came back for about 15 minutes and left, no jackhammer in sight. I called TJM Sewer asking to speak to him, and he tells me that he was having a hard time getting the flange out and needs someone to help him tomorrow. I told him he promosed me he'd be done today! and how was he trying to get the flange out, with his teeth?!?! The flooring people nicely agreed to work around him, and tomorrow they need to finish the installation. I was very frustrated at this point and asked him what other excuse will he have tomorrow and if he's trying to run a scam on me? He made it sound like he's doing ME a favor by doing the work and that he won't come back to finish what he started. Needless to say, I will be reporting this to the Better Business Bureau and the Elgin and Streamwood Chamber of Commerce. ********UPDATE as of 4/25/24********* I received a phone call from Todd, the owner. He was aware of the situation, was very apologetic and even offered to fix the issues for free, but he could only do it on the 26th. I told him that I appreciated his willingness to right a wrong, but my main issue was the scheduling because the floor installers had been sitting idle for 2 days already. I also told him that even if I could make the schedule work, I wouldn't feel comfortable with him doing the work and not getting paid for it, so maybe he could offer me a discount. As I said before, I couldn't wait any longer and ended up hiring another company to do the work. Todd is a stand up gentleman who cares about his company's reputation. I would be willing to give him another chance provided that this Chris character never sets foot in my house ever again.
I hate to leave a bad review, especially for a local business, but I've given TJM Sewer & Plumbing plenty of time to fix things to no avail. On December 26, I paid a $125 estimate fee and was quoted $4,500 to replace a pump and tank and redo plumbing. I was told the $125 would be credited if we moved forward. When the work was done, they determined the tank did not need to be replaced, yet I was still charged the full $4,500 and the estimate fee was not deducted. Shortly after installation, the pump was not functioning properly. When I asked them to return to fix it, they attempted to sell me a whole-house filtration system instead of addressing the issue. I declined. They later blamed our problems on an issue with the well and claimed they could not fix it. I hired a well contractor who resolved the problem in 30 minutes without touching the well, leading me to believe there was never an issue with the well. I requested an itemized invoice, which did not align with the work performed. Based on labor and materials, the job appears significantly overpriced (almost double). I formally requested a partial refund on January 12 and followed up multiple times, most recently on February 6, and have received no response. I am incredibly disappointed with the lack of response and professionalism. I've also since been informed that they were never even licensed to have done the work they performed. I am sharing my experience in hopes that it can save someone else the headache and loss of money.

TJM Saves the day! Todd, Chris, and the TJM team were outstanding. We had an excellent experience with TJM. We noticed strong sewer gas odor on a Friday morning. Todd and Chris quickly came out and determined we had a broken sewer pipe. They were back at my house Saturday morning with a big crew to fix the issue. Our repair was very involved. It was big and extensive repair. It required saw cutting our driveway, opening the foundation, and major excavating to access the broken pipes and fix the issue. Todd, Chis, & crew had our plumbing fixed that afternoon. They were back Monday to finish things up and closed things out with the inspector. TJM was honest, professional, knowledgeable, delivered on quality, and was priced fairly. My family and I were in a very bad spot with an unexpected broken sewer pipe that required major repairs. TJM walked us through every step and did their best to help us out during a stressful situation. No matter how many questions or issues we had- Todd always took his time to address our concerns. He wants to help and he does great work. I 100% recommend TJM for any plumbing and sewer job. They will get the job done right.
My parents had been without water for about a week and were reccomended this company. They set up a time for them to come out on a Monday, but the company called and said they couldn't make it until Tuesday. But Tuesday came and went before they called and said they could be there 3pm Wednesday. They called again on Wednesday pushing it to 4pm, but then called around that time and said first thing Thursday morning. They arrived at my patents house around ten after 9 Thursday morning and began to work before upcharging my parents by 100 dollar increments. When my father complained about the plumber first being late and then upcharging him, the plumber left without finishing the job. So if you want someone to come on time when they said they would, I would not reccomend this company. If you want someone who can understand the large inconvenience they cause people by consistently being late and not showing up, especially when you're without an essential like water, then I would recommend going elsewhere. I'm making this review in lieu of my patents as they are too kind to do so, but I'm very displeased with the kind of service this place had for my folks.
Prompt response and dedicated to his profession. Thursday evening I stepped into a small puddle of water by our water heater. It was installed in 2004 and did very well for us. I started looking online for a local plumber and after reading a few reviews on their website, I left my contact information. Todd called me at 5:00 a.m. to ask what I needed. I explained that there was no rush, but would be in need of a water heater. Todd said no problem and that he had availability today (Friday) 9:00 a.m. Based on the website testimonials, I felt comfortable moving forward. Todd was very good about staying in contact as he would be approximately 45 min. late. Plumbing can be dirty work and I was appreciative of the sensitivity that they exhibited while doing their mechanical work which easily met my expectations. I will admit that the cost was higher than I anticipated. I also should have asked for an estimate. My eventual conversation with Todd proved to me that he is indeed committed and stands behind providing his best work for a fair and honest price to his customers.
We had a backup in our drain in our laundry room at about 10:00 on a Monday night. I found TJM based on Google reviews and gave them a call. I talked to Todd the owner and he told me he'd have Chris, his most experienced guy, out within an hour. He got here and, long story short, we had to get a hole dug in the front yard to access the pipe to the septic tank. They gave me a VERY reasonable cost, especially given that he'd initially come out that night, and came back in the morning around 8:30. By about 11 that morning they had Julie come out to verify where underground lines were, dug the hole, fixed the issue, and re-filled the hole. They also contacted a septic service to come empty our tank (I had called a few different companies over the past few weeks and never got a response to my messages). Overall I cannot say enough great things about our experience. Chris is extremely experienced and knowledgeable and made sure to let me know everything that was going on along the way. TJM will be our new go to for plumbing issues.
Called TJM last night and was told we would have a plumber by approximately 7-7:30pm! Called a second time and was told that "Chris the plumber was on his way from Elgin, that's approximately a 45-minute drive. Still NO! PLUMBER! it's now after 10pm! Called TJM again for the third time and got no answer, so I left a voicemail asking for an update and never received a call back from the owner! needless to say they never returned my call, they never showed up and the NEVER even tried to correct their failure at keeping the appointment! We ended up calling another plumber who showed up first thing Thursday morning and took care of our needs. I would not recommend this company based on this terrible first-time service, lack of concern for us as a family with children in the home! and just not showing any empathy or remorse!
I hired TJM Sewer & Plumbing for a sump discharge project and paid a $5,000 deposit toward a $10,000 job. The design submitted by TJM Sewer & Plumbing was rejected because it did not comply with Village code. After meeting with the Village Engineer myself, I prepared and submitted a revised non-compliant plan that was allowed to proceed under a waiver. TJM Sewer & Plumbing did not prepare or submit an approved design. A compliant solution was later found, and the Village rescinded the waiver and required the project to comply with code before work could proceed. No work was performed by TJM Sewer & Plumbing. Despite this, TJM Sewer & Plumbing has retained my $5,000 deposit. I attempted to resolve this matter directly before posting this review, but received no response and no refund.
As a single woman there is a heightened sense of angst when you need to find a plumber to address residential plumbing issues. I needed to have a toilet and several faucets installed. When I talked to other plumbing companies they refused to even provide an estimate without first coming out and charging a service charge of $79 or more. This is when I found TJM Sewer and Plumbing on the Nextdoor app. I was able to get a quote over the phone which was extremely fair and reasonable and make an appointment for the install 2 days later. Cristian arrived as promised 2 days later and did a spectacular job. He was courteous, kind and professional. It was truly a blessing and I could not be more thankful. Honestly I didn’t know this kind of service still existed. Thank you!
