Logan installed a new water spigot in my homes garage (since there was never one put in originally inside or out). Logan did a great job and was very personable, clean and responsive time wise. Will request him and use Tennessee Standard again for sure.
Outstanding experience with Tennessee Standard Plumbing. Danny and Cam were professional, patient, and incredibly thorough from start to finish. Our water heater failed unexpectedly, and Tennessee Standard took the time to clearly explain what was going on, walk through our options, and answer every question without pressure or upselling. The install of our new gas water heater and whole-house sediment filter was clean, well thought out, and clearly done with pride. Everything was tested, explained, and left spotless. They even walked us through settings and long-term care so we actually understood what we now have in our home. You can tell Danny, Cam and Tennessee Standard genuinely cares about doing things the right way. Tennessee Standard earned our trust and will absolutely be our go-to plumbing company moving forward. Highly recommend.
Jacob W (along with helpers Cory P and Chris D) were professional in the installation of the new heat pump water heater. They are an excellent representation of Tennessee Standard Plumbing and Drain. Quality product, clean work, and concern for high quality experience.
Didn't even try to look at the issue we had with the bathtub, wanted to tear out the kitchen wall. Did not look at the stems for the hot and cold water, did not try to figure out if we had a clogged pipe. Just said it would cost us $1225 to tear the wall out and repair it. No thank you. This cost us a $49 service call.
Steer clear of this company. They seriously overcharged for the repair they did after I had already completely dug up the pipe break. Then they charged my credit card $100 more than the correct charge. They only refunded $99 of the $100 overcharge. Then they refused to give me the military discount they advertise. We will not be doing business with this company in the future and neither should you!
This will be a long review but these gentlemen Robert & Ian are absolutely worth it! On Friday morning, my gas water heater sprung a leak at the bottom and needed to be replaced. I called the Oak Ridge Gas Co (ORUD) and they said they couldn't come until Monday. 7 people (6 girls & me) with no hot water for 4 days! Next I called some local plumbers. One by one they said either they'd come around 6pm or they didn't handle gas units. I'm glad they were busy but I needed someone now! Next I called 2 major companies that are well known in the Knoxville area. One came, gave a 3 minute look and quoted a mid 4 figure price TO REPLACE A WATER HEATER! The next on the scene was Robert Mason & Ian (I don't know his last name) from TENNESSEE STANDARD PLUMBING & DRAIN. These gentlemen took their time. They asked many questions, they did a very thorough and professional inspection. They were straightforward, honest, neat and genuinely concerned about providing service, not just doing a job. While speaking with Ian, he was sharing about how much the leadership in the company truly cared about their employees and showed them tremendous respect. I found that to not only be reassuring but also experienced how that translated to how they genuinely cared about my family. The inspection took a good deal of time. They went into the crawlspace and really did a full inspection. Remember, this is Friday afternoon on Father's day weekend. When they were done, Robert showed me his findings. For those that don't know, many of the houses in Oak Ridge were built in 1943 so most of my plumbing is 80 years old. Robert showed me the pictures of the main pipe coming out of the ground into the house. Only God knows how it had not blown out yet, it was that corroded. Let me stop here and say that Robert & Ian were the only ones to do this inspection. Had I just replaced the water heater, the pressure* (more on this later) would have blown somewhere else and potentially taken out the furnace with the water. About the water pressure, they were also the only ones to measure the water pressure which was 100 psi when it should be half that. They also noticed that I did not have a pressure regulator or a main shut off. Important things to have in 2024 that perhaps weren't in 1943. When they entered the house they had special shoes for neatness and respect which was nice. Finally when they were completely done, we sat down and they presented 3 different options which we discussed in detail. There was absolutely no pressure, no sales talk, nothing except honest information and options. There is a very true saying that you get what you pay for. Tennessee Standard Plumbing & Drain is not the cheapest but there is also a difference between "cost" and "price" The "cost" over time will be less because they use top of the line material and they perform exemplary work which they stand behind. It turned out that none of the 3 options were attainable so Robert worked within our budget to get the vital items fixed. They handled everything. They called to get the ground marked, they dug up only the area they needed to and they put it back as best you can when you trench a yard. Another professional thing was that they were prepared. They had what they needed on the truck with them. There was no wasted time while they went to get whatever was needed. I greatly appreciated that. In the end, we decided on a 3 visit plan. They did the emergency items this visit. In 6 months or so, they will return for the 2nd phase and the final mostly cosmetic phase where my wife gets the bathroom she really wants. I would highly recommend these gentlemen and Tennessee Standard Plumbing & Drain!
RIDICULOUS RATES! I have hesitated leaving a negative review for TN Std because they were such nice, respectful, conscientious, timely, respectful guys who did the work, and they did accomplish what I called them for, BUT I cannot get past the exorbitant fees they charged. I was primarily in need of plumbing skills more than "nice." Their business model is to send out an expert to access your issue/request and then offer you a range of service options from basic to top-of-the-line. They also review your entire plumbing situation and make recommendations for improvements you didn't know you needed. Then they give you a menu of fixes and the associated costs. One of our requests was for the installation of an under-sink filter that WE supplied so the only cost should have been for labor and incidental supplies like glue. They did not estimate the amount of time it would take to complete this project, but told me it was especially intricate and not a quick job, when I questioned the rate. ( I say "cost" rather than "estimate" because this stage is when you select from the menu they offer and you commit to the stated price.) Only after you sign off on the cost will they schedule the work. Bottom line: the very nice tech (not a certified plumber) completed the work in less than an hour without any problems. I feel like I was paying more for their billboards, fancy trucks, and metal business cards than actual plumbing services. And I feel taken advantage of. I paid the bill because I had agreed to it beforehand and felt I had committed myself. I expressed my dissatisfaction to the lead tech and asked him to pass it along to his management. I never heard another word from anyone about it. I recommend that anyone considering using this company make some comparisons with other service providers and ask for a labor & materials breakdown of the proposal along with a satisfactory justification of the rates. Otherwise they are free to gouge anyone who will submit to it.
We had a very clogged bathtub and called TN Standard based I. Some other good reviews here. We were not disappointed. I'll also add that the two gentlemen that did all of the work below were extremely professional, extremely knowledgeable, well mannered, cleaned up after all of their work and were very friendly and nice to work with. They (Robert and Jacob)came out the day after we called them and took care of our clogged bathtub and also provided us with several options of Essential, Recommended, and Peace of Mind. We live in a home built in the 1960s and knew we had some issues and needed a lot of work in general (old water heater, non-functional garbage disposal, old toilet in bathroom, incorrectly regulated water pressure entering the house and a water spigot outside had a burst pipe in the past and was unusable). We chose to have all of the items I just mentioned fixed. So: - New water heater (and disposal of old) - New toilet (and disposal of old) - Removal of garbage disposal and work in pipes under sink - Replacement of old spigot and repair to pip s and new shut off valve - Installation of new regulator and shut-off valve where water enters home All of the above was done the following day, and only in 5 hours. Saying that everything was promptly completed would be an understatement. The price for everything here was very much in line with what I was hoping/expecting. I highly recommend TN Standard and will be using them for any future plumbing needs.
Called them out because of a water leak that occurred in my house when we turned on the water outside. The very nice professional proceeded to start looking for the leak by checking my 4.5 bathrooms....turns out was taking pics of anything they could "fix". Even went into my attic to look at water heater. I felt was odd because I had stated the water leaks when we turned on outside faucet. So I get quotes I kid you not from 65,000.00 to replace ALL the plumbing in our 20 year old house to a "bandaid" fix of 2600.00. I initially scheduled the 2600 fix but once he left and I thought about the whole process and I decided to cancel. Well this is when the hard sell started. He then called my husband to warn us about other plumbers.....when my husband asked for the deposit back he said he should be able to get our deposit back but he would have to talk to his boss. The paper work clearly states you have 3 days to cancel. Ended up calling Lawrence Plumbing they came out fixed 3 things for me including the busted pipe for 900.00!!! I would just suggest getting other quotes to compare to their pricing.
My father had a leak develop in a downstairs bathroom that required immediate attention. After careful internet research, I called Tennessee Standard Plumbing around 9:50 AM and a technician (Logan M) was knocking on the door around 10:45. Logan was extremely thorough in researching and troubleshooting the issue and ultimately found a pin hole leak buried within a floor joist. He was extremely knowledgeable and quickly performed the necessary repair. Logan went to great lengths to ensure that the work area was tidy during the work and was fully cleaned up after the job was finished. He also took great effort to ensure that no work debris was tracked to / from the work area into other areas of the house as he needed to get supplies or tools from his truck. Logan was very personable to communicate with and we were very pleased with everything that he did. A job truly well done!!!
I had a water leak in the yard very near the water meter. They came out and visually inspected the leak and gave an estimate of $1700. I was shocked that the estimate was for extensive digging ($900) and line repair ($700) when one can see the issue was isolated and only a few feet down. I did not accept the estimate. Everyone I told about the estimate (retired plumber friend, neighbors, water company rep) laughed and encouraged me that it was a simple fix. After they left I dug to the leak in 1/2 hr and had the repair completed in 2 hrs with $20 in parts from Lowe's. Why didn't Tennessee Standard know that it was a simple repair? They did. They purposely inflated the repair needed. Be very suspicious of the company. They seem to mask their dishonesty with their marketing approach.
I was very impressed with the speed and professionalism of Tennessee Standard from start to finish. I was able to get an appointment for the next day, and I liked receiving all the notifications and bio on my plumber ahead of time. Mike was very knowledgeable about the work he was doing and extremely patient in explaining things to me multiple times. He answered all my questions and provided me with various options, and I never felt like he was rushing or pressing me. He was here for over 6 hours and did a very clean and thorough job; I can tell he really pays attention to details. Mike clearly takes pride in his hard work and he even came back to explain something that I was concerned about later. Thank you so much for all your time and being so good at what you do!
Let me start by saying that Tennessee Standard will be my go to for plumbing from now on. Casey came out and cleared my sewer line after KUB refused. He was extremely professional, and actually took pride in his work. He was legitimately excited to use some new, advanced plumbing tools to clear the line. He even emailed me a video of the issue that I could send to KUB. He made useful suggestions for work we could get done to improve our existing pipes as well. I just want to give an extra shout out to his brother Zac. He helped with the work and also showed the same enthusiasm and professionalism as Casey. I’m very happy with both the price and work.
I called Tennessee Standard after two other plumbers couldn’t fix my completely clogged kitchen sink drain. From the moment Logan arrived it was clear that he operated on a different level. He was warm and professional and took the time to thoroughly analyze the plumbing configuration of my home to understand the root cause. Logan used multiple tools, including a hydro jet machine and worked tenaciously until the clog was completely resolved. Getting the job done when no one else could. This is the best plumbing experience I’ve ever had. Logan has earned my complete trust, and I highly recommend him and Tennessee Standard.
I am updating my review for Tennessee Standard. The service was exceptional! My technicians were Jonathon and Avery, whom I highly recommend! The work was finished early, which was very impressive considering the age of my home and nuances associated with that. They did a fantastic job installing all the new plumbing and went above and beyond. For example, they added plastic access panels at each of my bath fixtures over the holes that were made for easy repair/maintenance in the future. I would definitely recommend them for any of your plumbing needs, especially if Jonathon or Avery are your technicians!
