Roto Rooter has always been able to clear out pipe clogs when they happen in my older house. Their prices are fair and they perform quality work. The dispatchers and technicians are always friendly and knowledgeable. I also had a leaky toilet fixed quickly as well. They don’t try to add in unnecessary work either. John was very helpful today and now we can use our plumbing again.
Travis Reid did an outstanding job! The Frankenstein valve for the dishwasher the builder install started leaking and was lightly flooding the cabinet and floor. Travis replaced it with a quality quarter turn valve and put in a new supply line to the dishwasher. Turned the water back on and it works perfectly. We’ve used Rotor Rooter at our past house and had excellent experiences. The great experience today was no exception!
Miles and Jose were fantastic. They were punctual, respectful, and took time to explain the issues with our disposal and water pressure that were contributing to a leak. They answered any questions, and made sure I understood and felt comfortable with the work and quoted costs. They worked efficiently, and cleaned up after. They were also friendly! Would definitely recommend their service.
Horrible experience with Roto-Rooter & never even got any service done. Called on a Friday morning since my 80 yo mother who lives out of state in SC & had no water due to water shut off to house due to bad washing machine valve. The tech called at 9:30pm to say he could come over. She was asleep. I rescheduled for the next day. No one contacted. I called about 2:30pm & the local office told me that when I had called to reschedule & got the national # they rescheduled her for 3am for a tech that was not even working. They never saw her on the schedule. They sent someone over that afternoon but my mother was uncomfortable letting him in & decided not to use them. Then he called me & insisted I pay a $90 service charge even though they never set foot in the premises. I paid since I'm not there & didn't want to create a problem there, but will be contacting their corporate.
Not pleased with my experience. I called and gave all the details I could give over the phone. Asked if they could give me a ball park cost. They said the tech could tell me what needed to be done and the cost when he arrived. When he arrived, he didn't even look at anything or hardly want to hear anything I had to say about what was going on. He basically just walked up and said here are your 3 options, they cost $270, $500 or $520. I said which one do I need. He said I don't really know, you choose and we will see if that's what the problem is.... REALLY!? So if I choose wrong, then we will have to do another thing and if that doesn't work we will have needed I'll spending well over $1000. H said yeah it's kind of a catch 22. I expected them to arrive and use some expertise, perhaps diagnostic tools and TELL ME what needed to be done to fix the job. Oh, and the guy said it was going to cost like $270 for him to dig up the septic tank. I could save some money by digging it up myself... ok, I'll spend 10 mins to save $270. So he left, I called back 10 mins later to get back in the cue. Before he made it back out I had l ready reached out to a different company and had them come out. I'll never call Roto Rooter again.
On 2/21/20 I had Roto Rooter replace my sewer line due to clay pipes with root damage. The first thing they did was cut the gas line to my house and my neighbor's house when digging. I do not care if it was their fault or the company's fault that marked the lines. The problem I had was that no one from Roto Rooter notified us that this happened. The only way we found out was from our neighbor. Gas was leaking in my house with animals inside and no one bothered to tell us at Roto Rooter. So there was a two hour delay for that. Roto Rooter proceeded to dig until near dark and THEN notify me that there was an issue with a 6" main line they encountered. They dug for hours after seeing the line that would "be an issue". A "patch" was done for my sewer line. I now had an approx 30 foot by 4 foot deep trench in my yard. The "patch" job was horrible and resulted in sewage from my house going into the hole...being exposed. This hole remained open for over a week after several times that Roto Rooter could not get someone out. Roto Rooter ultimately told me they had to notify the County, etc to identify whose "main line" this was. Over the course of them "trying to identify whose line it was" they ran a camera in an attempt to locate where the line went. They could not fully locate it but offered to jet and camera the line further for an additional $680. I declined. They slowly proceeded to try to identify the line for over a week until I took over the process. Within a few days I had it resolved with help from ReWa and Wade Hampton Sewer. Roto Rooter had also been in contact with ReWa and Wade Hampton, but apparently getting anything accomplished wasn't a priority. I then told Roto Rooter to not come back out to my house. The work was completed by someone else. The 6" line is not a main. It was my line. On March 6th I told Joe at Roto Rooter to send me a bill for work done. It then took Roto Rooter 7 weeks to get me an updated bill...almost 2 months. The original bill was supposed to be $2833.05. The updated bill was for $1513.32. When I asked for clarification on my bill it took them another week to get back to me AFTER I sent a very long email detailing the whole nightmare of dealing with them. When I was contacted it was apparent that they did not read my email or the invoice they sent me for $1523.32. Joe said the talked to the owner and they would knock off the camera charge and it came to $1530ish (I can't recall the exact amount but it was right over the bill amount). Apparently they meant to send me a bill that was even higher than $1513.32. I immediately told him "I didn't call to have the price raised, so how about we just settle up with $1513.32 and be done". They agreed. I wanted to be done with it. I understand that situations arose that were not expected BUT communication was horrible on their part. I had to contact DHEC to inquire if the way they left my house was an environmental hazard. (Hint: It was.) Over the course of the week that Roto Rooter "couldn't get anyone out" I had several neighbors stop and inquire about the open hole with apparent sewage that was visible. The only reason I decided to pay without taking it any further was because two guys did dig up my yard for me. So I paid Roto Rooter to dig up my yard, put in a horrible patch job, and run a camera. I will never hire them again. Joe was my project manager. I never spoke directly to an owner as I requested in my email. I have no idea how they have stayed in business this long in the Greenville area with such horrible communication with customers. I have noticed that the negative reviews online all have a common factor: poor communication with customers and certain personnel mentioned in each one. I have attached two photos. One if the "patch" that was put into place by Roto Rooter that resulted in my inquiring to DHEC anonymously about the safety of this situation. I was assured it was not safe. It is not safe because it does NOT patch the sewer line as you can see in the other photo. The arrow shows where the "patch is located". The circle is the existing clay sewer line that was destroyed....and left open. As you can see it was not patched to anything, so that "fix" had my sewage running into this open hole in my yard. Just sharing my experience that I paid for so that others are informed.
1. One star is too high - MULTIPLE THUMBS DOWN rating should be offered. 2. On our invoice, Technician wrote on Work Description "While running my cable machine the upstairs bathroom were continued to be utilized and in return it was flooding out my working area. This happened approximately five different times while I was working trying to clear the drain. I would have to stop and extract the water so I could continue to work." Wouldn't you think technician would have told us NOT to use ANY office bathrooms BEFORE HE REMOVED THE TOILET??!!! TECHNICIAN ONLY TOLD US NOT TO USE THEM AFTER 4TH TIME IT HAPPENED! WHY DIDN'T HE TELL US AFTER THE FIRST TIME??!! Technician left around 4pm, OUT OF ORDER signs were'n't posted on office bathroom doors until 10 minutes after he left. 3. Technician also showed us pictures he supposedly took of wipes and paper towels he pulled from our drain, HOWEVER, AT NO TIME HAVE WE EVER HAD WIPES IN BATHROOMS - we have always known they cause clogs, this in an old building, so is the plumbing, so we've never allowed wipes in any bathrooms. When he showed us wipes pics, I immediately searched every bathroom AND FOUND NO WIPES. So we can only think that ROTOROOTER IS USING DISHONEST TACTICS IN ORDER TO NOT HAVE TO WARRANTY THEIR WORK - that's right - this is on our invoice: *(no warranty due to wipes in the drain line.)*(see pictures/video)* THAT PICTURE/VIDEO HE SHOWED US COULD BE FROM ANY DRAIN, ANYWHERE. 4. Same technician returned next day to "jet line" the clog since he was unable to clear clog with mech snake. WHEN ROTOROOTER JETTED THE LINE, WHILE IT DID CLEAR THE CLOG: a) IT CAUSED FECAL WATER TO COME OUT UNDER THE TOILET IN WOMENS ROOM - TECHNICIAN LIED TO US IS SAYING HE CHECKED ALL TOILETS, AND b) THE JET CREATED A NEW, ONGOING LEAK IN THE FLOOR OF AN OFFICE WHERE THE DRAIN PIPE GOES UNDER FLOOR TO THE CLEAN OUT - CARPET IS STILL WET 24 HRS LATER. 5. Technician told us he would be here 2nd day at 7:30 - he didn't (or no one from the office) call giving an ETA - he didn't show up until 11:30 and still sat in his truck waiting on Jet truck for another 1.5 hours - AND THEN HE HAD THE NERVE TO CHARGE US FOR 2 HOURS HE DID NOTHING BUT SIT IN TRUCK - at one point, he even drove off and was gone for about 30 min; HE CHARGED FOR THAT TIME TOO. 6. a. After technician finished jetting and presented our Company CFO with invoice, she requested that he explain [exorbitant] invoice amount of around $1150 (we were only given an initial quote of $220, then a quote for the jet line work was $500), at which time THE TECHNICIAN BECAME BELIGERENT TOWARDS HER, LOUDLY TELLING HER: 1) "your employees flushed the toilets on me 5 times yesterday - CAN'T THEY READ the Out of Order signs?!?" (the signs weren't up when he was here) 2) demanded of our CFO "give me the check...HURRY!!" Our Company President was nearby in her office and immediately got on phone with RotoRooter office who told their technician to leave without payment. b. TECHNICIAN ALSO LIED TO OUR CFO about having checked all toilets after running the jet line. Proof of his lie is THE FECAL WATER ON THE FLOOR OF THE WOMENS BATHROOM WHERE IT HAD SEEPED OUT FROM THE TOILET SEAL (which technician knew he needed to replace but didn't) - there is NO WAY technician would have missed it if he'd checked like he said he did. 7. WORSE STILL, when RotoRooter Manager Joe Crabtree came to our office, his demeanor and "apology" were clearly only lip service. The final blow came when, upon us pointing out to him a) technician knew he'd needed to replace womens toilet seal and b) new leak in office CAUSED FROM THEIR JET LINE PRESSURE, he only suggested we get someone else to repair. We have moved on from RotoRooter AND STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU DO TOO.
What a team, when I scheduled an appointment online I was never expecting such professionalism and kindness. Adam S. came out to my house Monday morning and quickly assessed the issue and called a manager Corey L. To come up with a game plan to fix my problem. My sewer line running to the main pipe had been clogged and I rented a drain snake from Home Depot which for stuck in the pipe. The men from roto rooter came up with a plan and put it in motion. Adam was super helpful the whole process and was very kind and understanding. Showed great empathy and really made me feel like I was in good hands. Scott G later came out that day to assist Adam with the camera work and he was also very nice and polite. The next day Adam and another gentleman who's name I never got came and started to dig up my drive way to reach the pipe. Both Adam and the unnamed gentleman explained what they were doing each time I stepped out to take a look and were super polite and kind. They worked hard all day long and that afternoon I could finally take a shower and run my water again. Adam and the man who was helping him deserve a raise and are fantastic employees! Was a pleasure to meet both of them!
A perfect example of a business that feels they are too big to fail and therefore the people are rude. My husband had surgery on Wednesday, and that happened to be the day they called me back to make an appointment to fix an issue. The woman I talked to gave me a timeframe. I told her I couldn't write anything down. She said "Oh, don't worry, call us back friday and we can tell you." So I called back this morning and got the most unhelpful, obstinate, rude individual who couldn't simply give me an estimate. "We don't do that. There's no way we did anything like that. We just put names down on a list and then give them to the technicians." Then, they didn't have my name in the computer and had to look us up by address. When she found it, she said "Oh, I see that it's scheduled for after noon, but there's nothing further I can tell you." No apology, no indication that she even cared about making a mistake or making my life, that is pretty stressful right now, even more so. We cancelled the appointment. There's plenty more plumbers out there that WILL give an estimated timeframe.

I will not be using Roto-Rooter again. I had the service tech come out to my work for an estimate and to get an appointment for work. This was what I thought was done but no one showed up the next week as I had planned , texted the number that had contacted me for service and was told that I did not have an appointment. I had called and requested that they bring another piece of equipment for another problem I was having and they did not when they showed up. They performed the work on the first problem but was unable to test because the machine was down that use that drain line .Asked if they had a camera to check to see if the work was successful but was told that they didn't carry one . I had used another service in the past and that company came in completely prepared The last thing is when the service tech had given me a price before he left was one thing ,when I called to finally get service was told another price and when I received the invoice it was another price (not counting the tax).
Disappointed in my experience with Roto Rooter of Greenville. My husband and I just moved into our new house and he noticed a potential plumbing problem in our basement, so he called to make an appointment the next morning. We were told a technician would be at our house at around 3:00-3:30 that day. I took off work to be there during that time, and during my drive home I did receive a phone call at 2:45 that the technician was 30-45 minutes away from our house. Unfortunately the technician did not actually arrive until after 5:00. He was polite enough, and was able to diagnose the problem, but told me the total to repair that day would be $90 more since it was "after hours"... even though he was about two hours late. Now I have to take time off work again to be there for the problem to actually be fixed. There was no apology or attempt to make things right. Will be going with a different company for sure next time.
We called because our septic needed pumping. I told the person on the phone. They sent a tech who couldn't pump the septic, didn't pull out a shovel, or look at anything but the clean out from above with his hands on his hips. It was a busy time so we had to wait two days for the septic to be pumped. The guy who actually did work was amazing. He dug up the septic, pumped it, and covered everything back speedily. We would have never known he was there except he asked us to check everything worked properly before he left. This guy is the reason I gave high marks. The tech was not only useless but aloof. If you work for a plumber you'll have to get your hands dirty. Hopefully he finds another better suited profession.
We called Roto-Rooter for an inspection on our gas water heater after noticing a leakage. The person on the phone, (customer service) was excellent with a very fast response. Shortly after the technicians Ellis Wheeler and Tylor Fobian arrived. We felt in the best hands possible, due to not only very knowledgeable in the field but also very caring individuals. The whole team was working non stop until the project was completed. And let me tell you the finish product was flawless. When we are talking about good, better, best. This company is truly THE BEST. 100% recommended. Very grateful and happy customer!
