Pro Rooter has helped me several times over the years and although calling a plumber...any plumber is expensive, Ely did very good work and was always very courteous. I don't feel that they were over-priced as compared to the quality of work. Ely and his crew actually did a large job for me which involved replacing a length of sewer pipe in my front yard. It was a big job but they were prompt, polite, reasonable and they cleaned up the mess afterwards. I have no complaints and will recommend them to anyone.

Update: 05/2018, Just had Richard come this weekend to fix our kitchen sick again. Ten thousand stars for these guys, they are always efficient, professional, and so nice! First review: I highly recommend Richard and his plumbing company. Our bathroom sink got blocked the Monday before Thanksgiving. I let my landlord know that afternoon, but because it was a short week, I didn't expect to hear from anyone until the following Monday. Richard got in touch Tuesday and was willing to come out that night (I couldn't due to my schedule) and even the Wednesday before Thanksgiving! I did not want to make him come out on a day my own work had given me off, but today, the Friday after Thanksgiving, he was here with prompt, courteous service. He fixed our sink in no time, left no mess behind, put things back afterwards. Great customer service and skill level.

I had plumbing problem this noon. Called Pro Rooter and Richard came in about an hour. He quickly fixed the problem. He is professional and nice. I am happy with his work. Highly recommend him.

I wish I could give them zero stars. I called at 11pm to schedule an appointment for 7am. They confirmed and the appointment was set. 7:30 am and still no plumber. I called and all they told me was, he's on his way. No one ever called to give me an update. And no one showed up untill 8:30. These people are VERY unprofessional. Family run and no one is held accountable. Do not use this company. Only the dispatch woman was nice.

I had very bad experience with this guy. They advertised everywhere and sounds like professional, but actually this company does not get work done well (not knowledgeable) and does not care customers. I had a pipe leak from a connector. I call them up and a guy came over to my house at evening. he said he need to change the pipe connector and charged for $500. Since I wanted to get it fixed asap, I still paid him a good price even it's not asking price. He said he would warrant his work for 90days. He fixed it and then left. After one week, i found my water pressure is very low, I knew something was wrong. The connector this guy put on was loosed and water sprayed out with big leak. I turned my home water off and called this guy again, he said he was busy and he could sent another guy here if i wanted to. Of cause, i need to get it fixed immediately so that I can have water. Another guy came, and he said he need change all my pipe outside the house to cooper from PVC even without checking pipe connector leak problem. He asked $2000 to get it done. I told him that it's no need to change whole pipe, just wanted to fix the connector. He said he did not want just fix the connector problem. Then he left. I called first guy again and wanted him come back to fix the problem. He said he would come back tomorrow at 9am. Sounds reasonable. Next day I was wait until 10 am, he did not show up. I ringed him and he said he could not come today (he played game). Then I called his company and want to talk to his manager, i was told manager is not available and will call me back if i left message. ....(.after a few times calls, i never get mamager call back so far). Anyway, I just keep call this guy and wait at home without going work. He finally come over again, he said need to broken my driveway and cut part of the PVC and replaced to cooper. I was hesitated to do this. He said he would not come back again if I did not do this. So, I let him do whatever he could to fix problem. After he done, he asked me to pay another $500. Oh man, raping people off. I told him it is still under warrantee and it is the same problem he worked on. He started to yell me on the street. I did not like to fight anyone on street and it's so ugly thing. I paid him more than half what he asked for to end this unhappy situation. After he left, I followed his instruction to wait for 8 hrs to turn the water on. You know what, there is still small leak with the copper pipe he put on. I called him and his company again....this time i was not at home when this guy fix this leaking. what a bad experience? Just changing a connector, I paid a big price with so bad experience. STAY AWAY FROM PRO ROOTER INC. Pro Rooter just want to get money and run away. I called many times to the company and wanted to talk to a manager regard to this issue and never got a call back. I may report to BBB and let people know PRO ROOTER has no reputations.

I am writing to complain Pro Rooter Plumbing. I had really bad experiences with them. I believe they did not do business honestly but just want to charge more money from customer. My toilet cannot flush on Feb.3 and I have to call plumber to fix it. I chose Pro Rooter from a phone book. The owner told me on the phone:if it is a small problem it cost $95 or $125 if the plumber has to remove the toilet. The plumber finally came to my house. He just have a look and did not do anything and told me I have to pay $125 for this.I agreed. After few minutes (he did not remove the toilet yet) and he said there is something he need to do that have to cost another 60 dollers.I told him that the price he charged me is different from the owner told me on the phone. He is a little bit scared and said $150 for all things. As it is a emergency situation and I agreed. He removed the toilet and fixed it. Later on I recalled what he did and I realized there is something wrong. This plumber, whom name is Chilo, did not do business honestly. My toilet is a small problem and not necessaty to remove it. He unnecessarily removed the toilet for charging me $30 more.He is even not satisfied for charging me $30 more he want the total price is $150 ( which is another $25 more). I told him again this price is not the owner told me on the phone. He still gave me lots of excuses to charge me more. Stay away from those bad guys. They are cheaters.They just want to make more money from customers.They charged me more money which is not reasonable.

Rip off. Do not use these people. We had a clogged toilet in our bathroom. We called for an estimate and was quoted $150.00 for arrival and clearing the drain.When they arrived it was changed to $175.00?Then the plumber told my wife he needed to get under the house to open the pipes.My wife told him that this has never happened before ,no one ever had to fool with the pipes. Thank god she didn't let him under our home. She told him to just fix the clog from the toilet.He told her that he needed to remove two toilets to remove the clog.He then told her that the cost would be $425.00. $175.00 for the call $50.00 to pull toilets and $100.00 to reseat each toilet.Reseating the toilet should be required and included with there removal cost.What good is a clog removal without resetting a toilet .We called other plumbers to confirm this.He had already removed one toilet.The wife called me and explained the problem.I told him to just unclog the drain and I would reseat the toilet.The wax ring was 2 dollars and it took 2 minutes.My wife told me that Chilo was well spoken and easy to understand,but when I spoke to him on the phone he spoke very broken English and became very hard to understand.I normally don't write reviews but how many little old ladies does this guy rip off.Can you imagine what this guy gets away with.What about people with no clue as to what needs to be done.I hope this review saves somebody from getting ripped off.Do not trust these people.

OUTSTANDING - ALL AROUND A couple of years ago, we had a major plumbing "back-up", both baths and toilets in our 46 year-old home. We called a couple of plumbing companies in the East Bay but the only ONE company could come out and give us an estimate that same day: PRO-ROOTER on American Ave in Hayward. Hector of Pro Rooter arrived on time; diagnosed the problem and recommended we put in a "clean out" in an easily accessible area, in order to get the job done efficiently and in a timely manner. Hector did an excellent job, overall. He was courteous, efficient, clean and left everything in good order. Last June, our daughter's home in the Oakland hills had a horrific sewer issue. Once again, we called Pro-Rooter. Hector and his crew came out and re-piped a large section of the sewer. Have not had any problems, since. We do not hesitate to recommend Hector of Pro-Rooter to family and friends, because of his sound ethics, excellent work and fair price points. P.S. This business has moved from Hayward. They are now located at 438 San Leandro Blvd in San Leandro.

Having received a water bill of over $800 I realized there must be a leak. And in fact I had an emergency main water leak. Pro Rooter said they would be at my house at 9 am and at 8:55 am they rang my door bell. So 5 stars for being on time. Richard Reyes the senior supervisor quickly diagnosed the issue and explained everything to me. It was a very serious main line break. The crew got to work immediately and worked hard from 9 am till past 4 pm. They had to dig my front yard up to get to the pipes but Richard explained it was the best route to take. Richard and his crew worked tirelessly to get my leak fixed and my water back on. I am extremely pleased with their professionalism, work ethic and overall just a great team effort. When they were done everything was put back together with the trench filled in and everything perfect. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Richard and Pro Rooter & Plumbing for any of your plumbing needs. Pro Rooter repiped my house a few years ago. Since then I have developed pipe hammering with the water running or drawing from the water heater .. super annoying I called the lead Plummer that was on my job those few years ago and he answered the phone confirming he was still with Pro Rooter. I explained to him what I had going on and texted him some short videos of the pipe hammering. He stopped texting and stopped answering my calls and texts for some reason. I texted a final message just to ask for his professional opinion on even a DYI on my end --- no response. I subsequently called the Pro Rooter office in Hayward to ask them to have a plumber call me maybe to arrange a fix or even advice. The admin lady said she would have a plumber call me. --- this is a few weeks later ... nothing ... Maybe they don't do smaller jobs, and that is okay. But how can I refer the company now with that type of response? I can't Certainly Disappointing

I recently had an excellent experience with Hector who installed a shut-off valve in my home. From start to finish, the service was prompt, professional, and courteous. Firstly, Hector arrived exactly on time for the scheduled appointment, which I greatly appreciated. Punctuality is important to me, and it set a positive tone for the entire service. Throughout the installation process, the plumber was courteous and respectful. He took the time to explain each step of the installation and how the shut-off valve works. I found this hands-on teaching to be incredibly helpful and educational. Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with the service provided by Hector. The combination of punctuality, professionalism, courtesy, and willingness to educate made the experience exceptional. I would highly recommend this plumber to anyone looking for reliable and knowledgeable plumbing services.

I've used Pro Rooter 3 times. I met Hector 2 years ago and was struck by his personable and professional manner. My fixer needed a sewer line repaired and under the house pipe work that was done poorly by another general contractor. I found Pro Rooter's bid to be very in line with and actually below other Handymen's quotes. Both jobs were tough and dirty, but the guys were quick, thorough and tidy. Finally, my house no longer 'leaks':) As I worked with Hector and his guys in diagnosing and pricing my plumbing issues, I never told them of my 25 yrs experience as a business unit manager, negotiating contracts with maintenance vendors for Fortune 50 companies. To most, I appear as woman who lives alone with only a cat. And not once did Pro Rooter disappoint me in the bids quoted and the work they performed. I will highly recommend them to all my friends in the bay area. Jennifer

Pro Rooter replaced our entire sewer line from the house to the street. We received a very decent estimate and price that they stuck to, they showed up when they said they would and finished they job in one day from 9am to 5pm. The Pro Rooter estimator showed up with a camera system to check our line and showed us the issues as part of their free estimate. No other service brought a camera with them to check our line before they provided an estimate. Pro Rooter used the 'trench-less' plastic pipe replacement system and saved us thousands of dollars in doing so. Pro Rooter was very good about keeping the property clean and cleaning up the job site before they left. Pro Rooter also cleaned out an adjacent pipe for no extra charge to make sure everything was in good working order. We will recommend Pro Rooter to our friends and neighbors and offered to be a referral to their business.

Don't do business with this company. I had drain problem and decided to go with this company because they are BBB member. After the service man arrived, he told that the sewer connector was installed in the wrong direction, he could correct the problem for $900, but my house is fairly new and I didn't believe him, since I know some of my friends paid for this kind of service for about $100. I told him I would call other services, then he said he could fix the drain problem by another way through the toilet for $250. Now I felt very uncomfortable for this guy. I told him if he didn't want to clean the drain for $150, I would use other services. Then he settled for that price and clean the drain problem through the sewer connector in less than 10 minutes. From $900 to $150, he definitely didn't provide the right solution in first place. I would not use them at all in the future.

I had an absolutely terrible experience with Ely of Pro Rooter. I had two very slow drains in the kitchen and bathroom that needed to be fixed. To begin, Ely came 45 minutes early without calling first. He then asked me to provide him with a plunger, a bucket, bath towels, paper towels and a wire coat hanger (shouldn't a plumber have available the tools of his trade?). He didn't use coveralls when he crawled under the house to inspect the pipes or boot coverings and tracked debris into the house. He used an electric snake on wheels and the wheels left dirty tracks on the kitchen floor and the hardwood floor between the kitchen and bathroom. He splattered kitchen sink debris on the woodwork under the sink and on the kitchen floor. And now my kitchen sink leaks from the pipes Ely opened to snake the sink. Needless to say, I will not use Pro Rooter again.
