“Michael called as he was on his way with an estimated time of arrival and he arrived right on time.”
Reviews from Google, Yelp & more
Jay was very good and he got our ac running fast and easy 10/10 would recommend
Alicia did a fantastic job today. She arrived exactly when we had the appointment scheduled and didn't leave until she made sure that everything was to our liking. Highly recommend and would use again.
From my call with Heather at Morris-Jenkins to the time Michael completed the job was a pleasure! Michael called as he was on his way with an estimated time of arrival and he arrived right on time. He was able to quickly diagnose the clog and used some plumber tricks to unclog the drain pipe. Michael was very professional and knowledgeable, this was my first time using Morris-Jenkins and I will continue to use them for any other plumbing needs in the future. I would recommend them to anyone!
They are too focused on selling maintenance plans. They lied and kept saying there were coil leaks when there were none on new furnace. Had another company look at it who said there was no issue. I do not recommend them.
I've had a lot of work done from this company over this past year and I have a few thoughts, because I want to be honest in my experience with this company. Pros: 1) Excellent communication 2) super nice people 3) on time, polite and there if you need someone in a pinch Cons: -overpriced I've had a few plumbing jobs at the house so when we were told about our air ducts we're bad they came out and quoted 14k, the salesman seemed kinda pushy and when explaining made it seem like the ducts will all fall apart that day if we didn't agree. So I said to myself...hmm, that seems high. So I got another quote from another company and it was 10k less for the same work. Now, I feel the plumbing we paid for was overpriced and also makes me think they take advantage of people. I think they do excellent work don't get me wrong but I feel 100% they will always quote on the very high end and gauge the pricing at the same time. It doesn't sit right with me one bit, unless you have to get someone that fast I would say stay away from this company. As many commercials as they have on tv talking about family, they should be ashamed of themselves. That is one family I would not want to be apart of.
I've been an "advantage" member for nearly two years, and tomorrow I will cancel all services and connections to this company. Sure, they are always available, always polite and professional, but this company is purely sales-driven. And yes, they give you "options" on repairs, but it is presented in a way that there is only one real option--the most expensive one. I've now had at least three experiences with repairs that could have been done for much less, but were billed at outrageous rates. My fault for agreeing to these, but now I see the pattern and the business model. Their techs are totally commission driven and their pricing seems to be arbitrary and based on how much the salesperson and/or their "boss" (whom they invariably call to consult every time) think they can squeeze out of you, especially if you live in a nice neighborhood. Today, it cost me nearly $800 to have two shower/tub spouts replaced where I supplied the $24 parts from Home Depot. Fifteen minute job each, yet each one was something like $180 to do because the tech "couldn't find a spout replacement price in the database", so he went with the next closet thing: the price for a shower head replacement (~$180). Worst of all, I had them do a repair on a PVC drain pipe for a sump pump under my house that sends water to the yard. The pipe had been broken/cut and simply needed to be fused. Normally a 5 minute job. That was over $450. Total time spent on the job was about two hours, and some of that was time the tech spent in the van writing the estimate and making notes after repairs. This works out to be nearly $400 an hour for very basic plumbing work. Most lawyers don't even command $400 an hour. I now see the light and it is too bad that this company is driven on sales instead of looking out for their customers' best interest. It seems that the only thing that matters is how much they think they can squeeze out of you--skillfully judging your reactions and sizing you up along the way before moving in for the kill. Again, my fault for choosing convenience over price. It won't happen again, because I am done with this company and will go back to an old school plumber or HVAC tech who simply bills by the hour, as opposed to how large they can make their own paycheck for that month. I'm done, and this is too bad. But now I know why they are so nice, clean, and professional. It's all about setting up the squeeze. P.S. Morris J., please don't bother leaving your boneheaded canned response to another negative review, which goes something like this: "Hi ______, sorry to hear you didn't receive a five star experience with us. Our goal is always to present all of the available options to you so that you can select the best one for you and it doesn't sounds like we provided that on that visit. We would love to have our service team follow up on this if you could provide us your contact information to customerservice@morrisjenkins.com. Thanks for your feedback!" Don't waste your time, or mine. Everyone reading these reviews can see the same pattern. These problems aren't fixable, because greed is the driving factor, and that's not likely to change since you've got the volume to wash out a few negative reviews. Best for me to just move on at this point.
I recently had the pleasure of working with Mark C, Mike F, Lee, and Matt T of Morrison Jenkins, and I cannot recommend them highly enough! From start to finish, the entire experience was exceptional. I reached out to them when my old Bosch inverter equipment HVAC system broke in the middle of the summer, and from the moment I made the first call, their professionalism and commitment to customer service were evident. Because I have an older Bosch inverter system, many other local HVAC companies would not even come to my home to even try to fix it. When I called Morrison Jenkins they did not even hesitate and scheduled a visit for the same day. The Morrison Jenkin's technician named Lee, arrived at 9 pm-11:30 PM on a Saturday for the initial inspection; he was not afraid to work on the unit even though it is somewhat of an older Bosch oddball unit; in the middle of the of night Lee was performing research and learning how my AC works, he was dedicated to repair this system as my family's comfort was his number one priority--super awesome technician!!! It was determined that I had either a bad control board or possibly a bad compressor, and because I have this oddball unit, the parts needed to be ordered. The Morris Jenkins team recognized my family was without AC for a few days and went into action to find these parts. Morris Jenkins did everything in their capacity to find the parts and expedite them to Charlotte. Because of the vast network of suppliers, they found the parts in record time, got them shipped, and on the same day they received the parts, sent another awesome technician named Mike F to my home to make the repairs, Mike F, who is very experienced senior technician thoroughly checked everything on the HVAC system, replace the bad control board, and got the HVAC within an hour! You know a company cares about its customers when the service director (Mark C) personally calls you with updates! Everyone under the leadership of Mark C was extremely professional and truly cared about my family's well-being! This is truly what sets Morris Jenkins apart is their dedication to quality and customer satisfaction. If you are looking for an HVAC company that combines expertise with top-notch customer service, look no further than [HVAC Company Name]. They have earned my trust, and I will definitely be turning to them for any future HVAC needs. Thank you for a job well done!
This is the first Yelp review I've ever written--and likely the last--but I felt compelled to share my experience. I've been a Platinum Member with Morris-Jenkins for the past 8 years, ever since I bought my home. Until recently, I found them great to work with and always appreciated their prompt service. Last Thursday, I changed the batteries in both of my thermostats. The next morning, I noticed the downstairs temperature had climbed to 85 degrees. I wasn't too concerned--this had happened a few times before, and Morris-Jenkins had always resolved it quickly. This time was different. The technician came out and, after checking the system, sat me down to say the battery change was purely coincidental. He told me I needed a switch gear and, due to the age of my system, it would probably be best to replace the entire unit. He also mentioned that my warranty had expired just a few months ago. I was then warned not to turn the system back on or I could risk burning out the compressor. Shortly after, a Morris-Jenkins salesperson came to my home. He quoted me $18,000 for a replacement unit. When I expressed hesitation, he called his manager, who offered to knock a couple of thousand dollars off--but only if I committed to the sale on the spot, before the salesperson left. I declined and said I wanted to get a few comparison quotes first. I ended up getting three other bids, all ranging from $10,000 to $15,000. Then, something unexpected happened: the last company I brought in to give me a quote asked to inspect my existing system--and they told me there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. It has now been brought to my attention that Morris-Jenkins technicians are paid on commission, and it appears they are incentivized to sell unnecessary repairs or replacements. As a single mother--my son's father has passed--there was no way I could afford an $18,000 unit I didn't need. What makes this experience especially disappointing is that I've trusted Morris-Jenkins for nearly a decade. I hope others will read this and do their due diligence before making a costly decision based on high-pressure tactics.
I initially chose Morris Jenkins because they previously repaired my AC unit and did great work. Based on that experience, I trusted them when I called about a clogged toilet and shower on Sunday. During the visit, the plumber advised that the clog appeared to be in the sewer pipe and said the city would likely be responsible. He told me he would handle communication with the city. He later returned and stated that the city determined it was my line for 500 feet up the road and that I would need to address it. The following day, they sent another technician who flushed the line and ran a camera that was not long enough to provide a proper diagnosis. There was still no resolution. I was then told I would need a brand-new sewer line at a cost of $25,000, along with $7,000 in additional work just to properly diagnose the issue. This involved digging up what I was told was my line. Something did not sit right with me, so I contacted both another plumber for a second opinion and the city directly. The city confirmed the line in question was theirs. They came out, reflushed it, cleared the blockage, and resolved the issue. At this point, I am out $1,500 for work performed on a line that I do not own. I did pay the initial $483 for the toilet ring repair and troubleshooting on day one, and I am not disputing that charge. However, I strongly disagree with the additional $1,500 charge for diagnosing and working on what was ultimately confirmed to be a city-owned line. When I spoke with a supervisor, they were unwilling to offer any resolution regarding the $1,500. Additionally, city records indicate the line was their responsibility, which directly contradicts what I was told. I am extremely disappointed. I feel misled about the communication with the city and was nearly persuaded to spend $25,000 on a sewer line I do not own. Because of this experience and the lack of resolution, I have lost trust and will not use Morris Jenkins again. I am sharing this so others can be aware and do their own due diligence.
I scheduled my annual AC service maintenance and the tech(Brock) arrived and while doing the inspection he knows a gas leak from my water heater. He proceed to contact a plumber(Jared) to come out and inspect the issue. Jared confirmed the water leak from the water heater and advised he could repair the leak but it would be only temporary. He suggested that a new water heater would be in my best interest due yo the age of the unit... He shared with me the different plans Morris Jenkins offered and stated financing was available. I asked him to give me sometime to think about it and he said okay do you want me to ho and sit in my truck for a few minutes and come back in shortly (1st clue something was not right). When he returned a stated because I had a young son in the home I needed to repair the.. I looked online a notice some were cheaper at other stores, but he (Jared) assured me no one could offer better service than Morris Jenkins they would fo this and fo that and reinstall the new water correct and take away the old one. I felt like a desperate mother that needed to get the gas leak resolved so I agreed to ho with Morris Jenkins and complete the application for financing of the new water heater. I share my findings with a friend and they became very concerned and stated the price if the water heater was too much.. They suggested that I come my gas carrier(Piedmont Natural) and have them come out to my home and take a look... Long store short Morris Jenkins had tech that are scamming their customers and lying to them by trying to make they pay for services that are not needed only to get a hight end of the year bonus and commission for other serious sold the the customer. Piedmont Natural Gas Tech confirmed with my friend that a new heater was not needed and the leak could be repaired for as little as 200.00 dollars and Morris Jenkins were trying to get me to finance a new water heater for 4865.00....Be careful single moms and elderly Morris Jenkins customers
I'm a Priority member for past year now after purchasing a house that has had 3 HVAC systems covered by MJ for 11 yrs now. My HVAC service guys are always professional and do the job they are paid to do. On the other hand, the plumbing arm of MJ has disappointed massively. The plumbing guys did a repair on a PVC drain pipe that was punctured by a screw (6 yrs ago) by cutting the pipe and installing a No Hub coupling. That pipe serviced the attic of the house and didn't have any activity for 5 out of the last 6 yrs until last year when my son occupied that space for the past year. A short while ago our hardwood floors started buckling and we determined it was the No Hub coupling failing (there is a cut in the gasket and non-uniform impressions on it suggesting the sheath was not installed properly and wasn't applying equal pressure to make the fix water tight). After speaking to 3 separate levels of management at MJ, no one is willing to accept responsibility! I heard lot of excuses of 'external influences' as the reason why it failed but the best explanation of how it could have occurred came from the Director who said it was likely settling of the house. He said its common for No Hubs to fail due to settling. With this being the case I don't understand why PVC cement wouldn't have been a more appropriate fix 6 yrs and would have likely avoided the water damage I'm dealing with now. The strangest part of the process is one manager said he has a high level of confidence the No Hub coupling was install properly but of course MJ has no evidence of that, as opposed to all the evidence (and damage) I have of it failing. Highly disappointed with the lack of ownership by MJ and definitely questioning the integrity of this company and whether I'll continue to be a customer in the future.
I am not sure I'm confident in the honesty of MJ. Summer of 2018 we needed a starter capacitor replaced on the condenser unit. First time we used MJ. They came out to replace the capacitor and checked the Freon. The tech said when he took off the valve cap, there was a slight leak in the port valve. He tried to fix it, but made it worse, so he replaced the Freon he lost and re-capped it. The tech talked us into a monthly service plan for a discount on that day's visit and two services a year. He noted the lost Freon. A month or so later they came out to service the AC per the service plan. The tech actually fixed the leaky valve and topped off the Freon. It was all clean and what-not, but the AC never quite performed as well as it had prior to the MJ repair/service - they said the unit was in spec during the service visit. They come out ~6 months later for the winter service and tell us we have a leaky reversing valve and the repair would be $2200. Our unit being older, we decided to seek replacement. The MJ salesman wanted between $10k and $16k to replace the condenser and evaporator - not the entire furnace/air system. We sought other estimates for replacement, all of which were between $3400 and $4300 for the same work. We went back with a Trane unit @$4250. I can't say MJ had anything to do with the rapid decline of our 26 year old Trane AC. I can say that I don't know how they offer any value that justifies double to triple the price for a name brand, quality AC unit. I could have had the entire HVAC replaced in the house with Trane with a lot of money left over for the Morris-Jenkins price. Our experience as a new customer was disappointing and we are cancelling the $20/month service contract. It was not worth it.
After two years of being their Advantage member today I sadly regret to say I will no longer patronize this company. I have cancelled my membership. On June 2nd my capacitor on my standard 3 ton residential unit went out. Normal market rate as of today after all this pandemic related price hike ranges in between $180-280 depending on where you go. I was charged $478.34 for something which costs $20 in parts in retail cost. This is after receiving my Advantage member discount. It was a 25 minute job. They are getting 5 star for providing good service quality, but zero stars in value. Their prices have become predatory and they know people don't know better. For folks reading this review, know that if your late model AC suddenly doesn't cool one day it's most likely your capacitor. I should have called a handful of companies before calling them. After the work completed and before I posted this review, I price checked with two other companies which are also in Google and got quotes for under $300 including their visit fee in the Charlotte market. Do yourself a favor and if you seek good value skip this company. If money is no object, I think these guys provide good service quality. Ultimately it was my decision to allow the work to progress as I was sweating. The overcharge will not kill me but there is better value out there and it bothers me knowing that. I will give my business to the next company who provides a good value and not relies on people's discomfort to charge an exorberant fee. I wonder what they will quote for an actual AC install - glad we will never know. Thumbs up this review if it was helpful.
Mr. Jenkins says, "The Best Time to Cuddle is . . . " Y'know -- I remember going to Myrtle Beach when I was 6 years old. The year was 1976, the last ANALOG summer before Star Wars transformed my imagination and expectations about what could be possible. It was that hot July I first came face-to-face with the bleary-eyed monster, Disappointment. He came (along with a score of his immediate family members, dessicated and plastic wrapped, slickly marketed to my innocent young mind in the form of Sea Monkeys. Life . . . and shrimp . . . never tasted quite the same afterwards. Fast-Forward to June 2022. 46 years later, and I'm living in Indian Trail, North Carolina with my friend and Fraternity Brother in a big house on Haunted Hill. [Actual street changed to cover up our crimes. Allegedly] Big Storm. Lights blink, the electrical panel falters. AC out. I think about those clever commercials I've seen on TV for so many years for Morris-Jenkins Heating & Air Conditioning services. I think of sea monkeys. I set my expectations appropriately. Low. Abysmally so. Below sea-level just ike the Great Salt Lake of Utah home to Donny & Marie Osmand and "Artemia" (the scientific name for brine shrimp AKA Sea Monkeys) I visited The Great Salt Lake once; it stinks. Without air conditioning, so did I! I took a shower and rolled the dice by placing a call to Morris-Jenkins. How terrible would the call be? How long would I wait to speak to a person? Would my ancestors still be waiting on the repairman? My enquiring mind and perspiring body needed answers! - more to come -
We've worked with Morris-Jenkins for over 20-years, now. In the early 2000's, our house had an as-built, undersized single furnace A/C unit with all supply and return ducts in the ceiling, that never performed satisfactorily and ultimately failed after ten years. By trade, I'm an engineer and understand the principle of air movement both for function and comfort and didn't want a simple replacement system. We had three companies, including the one that we had used to service the old unit. Of the three, Morris-Jenkins listened accepted the challenge to correct the situation by installing properly designed system with much new ducting. We talked of options for pricing with good / better / best and went with the top-line system combining heating and air conditioning with a heat pump. We signed a service contract that remains in effect today. After 20+ years, many components have been changed, including a burner that was still under warranty! The benefit having the bi-annual maintenance contract is invaluable. Some technicians have been several times through the years and gotten to know our equipment well, while others have never been. Either way, they've always been polite and professional. The technicians have excellent notes about past visits and know the equipment history well, so know what to look for in their thorough check-ups. I've had occasion to recommend their plumbing services, too and had equal satisfaction. I believe Morris-Jenkins provides product and service value and completely satisfied highly recommending the business.
