Very knowledgeable and professional. I had forgotten that I had another HVAC company coming the next day for a estimate. Since he was here I let him check over the work and he said Five Star did a great job. Here's a kicker Five Star was $1,100 dollars cheaper.
Five Star Home Services has truly been a blessing for my family. Jason E. has been absolutely amazing and has gone above and beyond anything we could have expected. He helped my family more than anyone else in this industry ever has, and I am so incredibly grateful. I also want to personally thank Bryan, Jennifer, and Sarah in the back office — their support, kindness, and professionalism made a stressful situation so much easier. This is literally the best thing that could have happened for my family. Because of them, we have heat, and that means everything to us. I cannot recommend Five Star Home Services enough. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
I want to say a huge thank you to the Five Star team for their excellent and very professional work. We had a serious issue with our water heater, and they responded very quickly. The team arrived on the same day, worked efficiently, carefully, and handled everything from start to finish. They replaced the water heater, checked everything thoroughly, and made sure the system was working properly before leaving. Everything was done neatly and with great attention to detail. I truly appreciate how fast and organized they were, especially considering this was January 2nd. I am very satisfied with the service and highly recommend Five Star to anyone looking for reliable and professional plumbing service. Thank you so much for a great job!
The technician himself was very nice and professional, but the company charged nearly $400 just to replace an ignitor. That price is extremely high for such a simple repair and feels very misleading. Because of this experience, I would not recommend this company to anyone. If zero stars were an option, that's what I would give.
I strongly caution against using Five Star Home Services for warranty-related work. Based on my experience, this is not a transparent or customer-friendly company to deal with. Since November 2025, I have been attempting to obtain reimbursement for a warranted heat exchanger kit installed in my Carrier Infinity furnace. Under Carrier’s warranty process, the installing contractor receives the reimbursement from the manufacturer and is expected to pass that reimbursement along appropriately. Despite repeated requests, Five Star has refused to honor the warranty reimbursement. The 11/2025 repair itself cost $3,107 for approximately six hours of onsite labor. Even assuming additional prep and ordering time, the price is excessive ($400~$500/hour) for the labor only. Public estimates for the parts involved are $1400-$1700, so logically the price of the warranted parts was included in my total cost. By simply entering my unique Carrier furnace model number on the Carrier warranty page, I learned my parts were fully warrantied and should be free. Note, Five Star never told me this and, once notified, has refused to communicate about reimbursement. Communication with Five Star throughout has been frustrating. I prefer email communication, yet responses were inconsistent or nonexistent. I replied to an email proposal from Five Star and my response was returned as undeliverable. An email sent to an address listed on a manager’s business card was never answered. While ignoring my emails, the company texted a $2,500 “generous discount” toward the purchase of a replacement Carrier furnace to be installed by Five Star and tying future warranty protection and discounts to continued use of the same contractor. This raises concerns about fairness and transparency. After several months of ignored or unanswered messages, I sent certified letters directly to the company’s President and CEO outlining the issue in detail. Still no response. A Communications Manager finally responded more than a month later only after my daughter called the company and stated I was prepared to file complaints with the Better Business Bureau. Even then, the substance of my written requests for the warranted parts reimbursement continued to be ignored. Five Star ultimately offered me only $375 “manufacturer-supported allowance for labor” while never addressing the warranted heat exchanger kit itself. To be fair, the individual service technicians who worked in my home were consistently polite, professional, timely, and apparently competent in their work. My concerns are with company management, warranty handling practices, billing transparency and customer communications – not with the field technicians themselves. If you work with Five Star Home Services carefully review warranty terms. Document all communications in writing and fully understand how warranty reimbursements will be handled before authorizing work. Or, simply don’t work with them. Also be aware that Five Star has acquired multiple companies throughout the Columbus, Dayton and Cincinnati regions, so it is important to verify exactly with which company you are contracting. My initial call was to Kettering-Oakwood Heating and Air, only to find later they’d been bought by Five Star. This negative review of Five Star Home Services seems to be the only recourse in helping others be aware of practices that are NOT consumer friendly – overcharging, refusal to honor warranty, and terrible communication at the administrative level.
My experience with Five Star. During a construction project, an unmarked water line to the house was cut, and all water was cut off. An urgent call to a local plumber was routed to Five Star, which had incorporated the local number into its system. A plumber from Xenia, Ohio (I am in Loveland), came and gave an estimate, but was unable to perform any work as his job was only to do an estimate. I was told a price for the repair and a price for excavation and exposure of the pipe. But, no equipment for excavation was available, so the repair would have to wait. The construction people who damaged the pipe said they would do the excavation, and the repair was performed the next day. The problem was that the price quoted included excavation and repair. The original repair was $700 plus $1300 for excavation. Then, a later phone call, during a stressful situation, the price was increased to $2500. The next day, a separate crew did the repair in one hour. They were professional, courteous, and did a great job. They requested payment of $2500. This was despite the fact that the excavation, exposure, and preparation were done by the construction crew. After multiple back and forth discussion with the business office, they agreed that for a one-hour repair on a pipe that had been prepared and excavated before arrival, $800 was reasonable. So, I give them five stars for the quality of work. I do only give a total of four stars as I was not aware that the first visit was only for an estimate, and there appeared to be some issues with how the estimate was changed multiple times. The end result is a satisfied customer. I only wish there had been more clarity and consistency with the processing of the transaction.
Kim Wilson 6/26/2025 The technician I had ROODY WAS INCREDIBLE! I live in a 100 year old house. I have a sewer drain in the basement which was stopping up. Water was coming up out of the drain. I called Roto Rooter to come out to price the drain repair. They wanted to bust up the concrete floor and go in 25 ft. Their price was $4500.00. I called Eco Plumbing. The guy ran his portable snake down 25 ft. He could not locate the blockage. Glad I did not hire Roto Rooter. I would have had a busted up floor for nothing. I found 5 Star Plumbing. Called and Roody came out. I told him about the snake down 25 ft down nothing located. After much conversation Roody suggested I schedule to get their big powerful machine with the snake to be brought here. I did. He came out in the time frame I selected. He lifted that HEAVY machine down my narrow steps and small opening to the basement drain by HIMSELF. He snaked the sewer line until it was clear and water flowing through it. It would be GREAT to have 2 people on jobs that require special attention as mine did. 5 Star plumbing was very attentive to me as a customer. I hope they keep being friendly, attentive, arriving on time and transparent and honest with their customers. They are not nearly as expensive as the big companies were. The price was AFFORDABLE ! Mr. Roody is AMAZING ! For your next plumbing needs call 5 Star Plumbing. I am a VERY SATISFIED CUSTOMER at % I will DEFINITELY recommend 5 Star Plumbing to anyone looking for a small company which GETS THE JOB DONE and DOES IT WELL ! Kim Wilson 6/26/25
Jeremy was recommended to me because my AC went out on Tuesday I sent him a text message at 8 pm at night and he gave me a ballpark estimate and they Gage and Jeremy both came out the next day for the estimate and he was spot on what he told me. They went over they packages they offered and was able to keep with in my budget even with an upgrade. There team was able to get out within the next day for the install both Service technicians Kori and John was amazing and the workmanship and knowledge they provided was beyond what I expected starting with updates on when they will be to my house one time and as they installed a new AC and furnace, they kept me up-to-date with the process of how it was installed. I was really impressed on how they kept my property nice and clean and the clean up after they were done, they did a spotless job it didn’t look like they was even here. I highly recommend five star and the team the customer service I received was above and beyond excellent.
I highly recommend Five Star ! They all were amazing to work with. Jonathan the technician, come out and give my dad a free estimate, mentioning only the items of concern. Out of 3 estimates to replace the mast, requiring the electric to be turned off and back on from the supplier and a county inspection, had the best price..Five Star handled all the calls to coordinate work, which we appreciated! They made getting a job done that we had no knowledge about easy for us . The call center was pleasant and super helpful, quick to answer questions.! We will definitely be calling Five Star for any electrical needs in the future! You guys are an awesome team! And thank you, Jonathan for an all around great job!! OBO Mike Evans ( homeowner)
Kori and his partner were awesome. Solid craftsmanship on the exterior. Copper pipe and high-voltage line ran pretty level minus a few dog legs. I was a little underwhelmed that they did not pour a concrete pad for the new unit. The interior work on the new coil was crisp and tidy. Overall these guys were professionals who took care of my house, cleaned up after themselves and did quality work. Ben the salesman was very helpful and knowledgeable. He didn't try to sell me a unit that was overpriced and too big for the square footage of the house unlike other companies. Five star and their team are fair, honest and professional. Give em a call without the fear of getting taken for a ride.
Ben Reed found a gas leak that the fire department couldn’t find. He immediately had plumbers come to the house to correct the situation. They actually found a second leak also! The situation was actually dangerous but now is fully fixed. Thanks to Ben for finding the leak and to the plumbers for fixing that leak and a second leak as well. Brandon came some days later to replace the faulty part in our furnace. He did an excellent job and explained everything to me in understandable terms. It was the final piece between HVAC and the five-star plumbers that ended my propane leak situation. I’m very pleased with the excellent work!
I had 3 pieces of equipment installed by 5 Star and it took me 3 scheduling events to get someone on site to do a safer inspection on my furnace. During the inspection the technician removed the globe and stated it had some debris in the globe. At that time he asked me if I wanted him to clean out with water I asked him since he had it out what was the charge he stated $158.00. I thought this was ridiculous especially since I had waited at home all day last Friday waiting on a technician who never showed up. I feel this is very poor customer service. I am really disappointed.
Brandon was an extremely pleasant, knowledgeable and thorough technician. During his maintenance he found a potential issue that could affect the life of our compressor. He provided options to correct the condition and was able to install it during his visit. Biggest problem is they charged $1159.20 to install a soft start unit which after doing some research is a $249 unit which means I paid over $900 for a 25 minute install to mount and wire it in. Extremely upset by this especially after being a 5 Star member!!
I love my new Furnace/Heat pump. The process was so smooth. I met with Brandon and he explained the whole process from the financial standpoint up to the installation. Within 3 days of our meeting there were 2 installers ( Bryan and Grant ) at my door with everything they needed to get the job. they completed the job in one day and I was enjoying my new system that night just in time for the weather turning so cold. Thank you Five Star and your professional staff to get my job done.
Luke Fergusson did our semi yearly check on our HVAC system. I would NEVER request anyone else to care for the unit. Luke is hard working, thorough, thinks out of the box, courteous and kind of a "magician" ! The unit always works like clockwork until the next check. This time, due to the age of the system, he had to provide reinforcement to keep the unit perfor at its best and trusted all his solutions to keep the unit at its best. Thank you your diligent and honest support.
