First let me say I have ABSOLUTLY NO affiliation with Athens Plumbing other than being a costumer. I manage several commercial industrial properties. I have used Athens Plumbing services over 100 times and ALWAYS had quality professional service. They are on time and very knowledgeable. All of their staff from scheduling to billing to service and repairs have always been very courteous and helpful. I highly recommend them for any plumbing issues you have.
Over the course of the last several years we have had both servicing and repairs of our septic tank. Mr. Larry Miller who works at Athens Plumbing is without a doubt the absolute best. He is kind, smart, experienced, knowledgeable, available, and tries his best to help in anyway he can. He is happy to explain the problem, is straightforward and honest, and is willing to go above and beyond to be helpful. He is obviously respected and known if you have to involve the Oconee Environmental Health( who have also been incredibly helpful) . I would without a doubt recommend Athens Plumbing to anyone because of him.
Mr. Larry and Mason came out earlier the morning of the job and knocked it out of the park. We went 5 days no water, our well pump went out on us due to nasty cold weather. These guys at Athens Plumbing and Well Services fixed it in 1.5 hours! Great guys, friendly, prompt and professional. Thank you guys so much! Happy New Year!
The woman on the phone has a horrible attitude and is not customer friendly.. I scheduled to have some one come out at 10am on Feb 18. After finding out that's it's 185hr and the time starts when they leave there shop. I told them to wait until 3pm because I was in contact with someone with a flat rate fee. She insisted on making a appointment for the next day and told me she would call before they came out.. I got the repairs done the same day by a different company. She never called the next morning so I called no answer. The tech calls and said im at ur residence so I told him don't do any work let me contact the woman. I finally get her on the phone she calls me a liar and had a horrible potty mouth. I asked her to replay the recorded phone call that she says she has, she insisted i pay a 240$ bill for no work being done. Then keeps calling me names and hangs up. I hope ur experience is better than mine with this company.
Neighborhood ordinances and zoning laws are typically nuisances that protect the interests of the few at the expense of the greater good. However, I would strongly support banning the use of septic tank trucks from ever being permitted to idle within residential areas. The sewage smell from this business's septic trucks is an insulting way to start every morning in Boulevard. Please, take your trucks elsewhere.
I got a quote from Athens plumbing and got charged $150 just for the quote two guys came out to check One week later one of their guys came to my property when no one was home and took a level from our property and was looking around like if it was his property it was all caught on camera i was trying to give Athens plumbing another chance because I clearly needed my well fixed and I already paid them 150 !!! But they just wanted the video of the worker who did this and never called me back regarding how much exactly it was going to be that was on a Friday (8/24) I called and here I am Monday(8/27) calling them again and they don't seem to care much! so on to the next plumbing company I go . NEVER again even after giving them a second chance and reviews could either be true or false but I have no reason to lie a police report was made and I have video of their employee coming on our property and taking the level but it's not the level that's a big deal , but the simple fact that what if my daughters were home what was this man going to do and for Athens plumbing not to want to make it right and make us first priority is crazy but lesson learned ! Not dealing with this company anymore .
After getting a quote from them we decided to go with them even though their price was the highest but we needed the service quick. These people are extremely unprofessional, they ghost out and never return calls. I had to call them MANY TIMES just to get the same answer “ Libby will call you back asap.” I finally got to the bottom of the problem and it was because they “didn’t have a good feeling about the payment discussed” which was going to be a job for a big company, all they had to do was send the bill and payment would be released automatically. That was very suspicious because it tells me they are not used to do big jobs, probably little repairs here and there, get the cash and go home. However John promised me this time that he wanted to do the job and that he was going to be the one calling me this time to schedule it and continue. That was over 3 weeks ago and I still haven’t heard from them. Obviously after 2 days and not receiving a call I gave up and decided I was not wasting my time with them anymore. My advice is to look for other options. They are not the best in price or professionalism.
My wife and I moved in a 1960's home on the Eastside in 2006. I called these guys to fix an issue with backflow and each time the issue was 'fixed' I had to call them again in a couple of days because the issue turned out to be bigger than originally anticipated. Cost me a lot more that they couldn't figure it out. They did not diagnose the issue correctly and charged me an arm and a leg by way of repeat visits. Long story short I ended up shelling out about $5500 and they ended up replacing my entire outflow. They did a horrlble job digging up my yard and not putting it back right. My lawn years later looks horrible. I had to replace the basement drywall more than once because of them not diagnosing the issue correctly. These guys are the reason for Yelp. Good ole boys that like to take advantage of students and people who don't have the connections. Well now there is Yelp and hopefully businesses like these will get their just desserts. I'd advise you to stay clear of these guys.
I have done busines with Athens Plumbing now since 2005. a few weeks ago, Athens Plumbing installed a new water hearter to the cost of $1700. Immediately after install we experienced severe fluctuations in hot/cold temps throughout the house. We tried various temperature settings and nothing fixed the problem. I finally called them today and they sent two gentleman out to determine what was wrong. When I made the appointment, I was told immediately what the issue was, the valve in my master shower was in need of replacement. This is NOT an issue with the prior water heater. I expressed disdain of being charged a fee to check on their WARRANTIED work and did not agree with paying the fee, After arriving and inspection, the plumbers told me that I needed to install new valves in the master shower costing $1400! I was then told I needed to pay a service fee of $150 plus tax. This business has changed. Do not use them. They are dishonest and do not stand by their work and warranty.
The person who answers the phone and the apparent manager was extremely confrontational from the beginning of our interaction. I was asked to give my credit card before anyone was to show up at the house for the service call, which I do understand although I have never been asked this before from any other company. When I asked to verify if someone would be calling me to give me an estimate of the total repair costs before my card was charged, I was met with resistance and hostility. This is a normal question, yet the woman on the other end of the phone seemed to think that this was a ridiculous request and proceeded to deny services to me. She was unhelpful and unable to answer basic questions and unwilling to do her job. This was some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced and based on this interaction I would not trust this company whatsoever. Zero stars. Do not recommend.
We are so very disappointed in our neighborhood plumbing service. As a long-standing charitable organization less than 1/2 a mile from Athens Plumbing and Well, we would never have imagined that we would be upcharged for services. They installed a new faucet in our sink to the tune of $462. Nearly 500 dollars for a very basic faucet sounded outrageous so we did some checking. We were charged $225 for the faucet itself; that faucet sells for $158.52. We were charged $32 for supply lines that should have cost $15. Sending two technicians at a rate of $185 per hour when a simple faucet replacement only requires one technician also padded their bill to us. Upcharging a charity is a shameful business practice.
On the positive side - they came quickly and were very polite. I would only call in case of emergency - in which case I would recommend as they came quickly! Which, when your water heater is spurting all over the place - this is a huge plus. On the negative side - they said that no one made a waterheater the height of my old waterheater (they do - we bought it at Devore and Johnson). They said we couldn't use the existing means of ventilation (we could - easily once we got a shorter water heater). They wanted to put a hole in the walls of my house and run a plastic pipe up next to the existing means of ventilation which would have been very expensive. I'm guessing they only stock the taller water heaters.
Wells service. Not professional when it comes to invoices. rude. fix a leaking pipe (pictured) and call my wife demand $2000 to be paid immediately and threaten to charge more if shes not. Man its like she got anything to do with the business but I in turn got an earful from her of why what how what happen why people called threaten, why u didnt answer their phone, where are you…blabla All you got to do is get your invoice together of what you did. hours of services and parts. total cost then give the invoice to the employees of the farm or send directly to the owner. You will get a check. Jeeze may just get a handy man to fix a leakage than call a company like this.
After an initial visit for an inspection and rough cost estimate for several projects, I authorized the work and was told my projects would be scheduled and I would be notified. From that point on, Athens Plumbing ghosted me. They didn't call me to schedule the work, and when I called them multiple times over the next 2 months, each time I was told that I would receive a call back to discuss the projects only to be ignored every time. I finally gave up and called their primary competitor in Athens, who came out the next day and had all work completed in 2 weeks. I would recommend avoiding this company and finding a different service provider.
Charging over $150 for a consultation is insane. Office workers are rude. We have had them service our place twice, once cause our well went down, then a year later after the electrical wires were bad that weren’t replaced when the new well pump was installed. I called to have them follow up for the third time after being told to by 3 different plumbers to do so as our repair should be under manufacture warranty. I spoke with the wife and she had an attitude right off the bat. She said her husband would call me, he never did. This place will suck the money from you and pad their own pockets. Disgusting behavior
