These guys did a great job and have installed multiple units for us down through the years. Always quick to respond and very professional. Would highly recommend. Most recently reattached a drain hose at no cost.

Did not do the work promised. Also there cost are high and repair didn't last.

This is an addition to earlier reviews below. I recently had Absten install two new electrical outlets in my home, as well as repair the water faucet in my garage. Shane did his usual excellent job with the outlets. I’m starting to think there’s nothing he can’t do in record time. And as it turned out, the repair to the water faucet was so simple the plumber (unfortunately I don’t recall his name) called the office to check if I should even be billed for the work. I was not billed. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I’m sure Absten prices their services competitively, but even if they were marginally higher I would still pay it. My relationship with Absten is just as important as the one I have with my family doctor. I continue to give them my highest recommendation. Earlier reviews are below this line. ———————————————————————- I have used Absten Services on three occasions and each time their service manager —Shane— has done an outstanding job: 1) Diagnosed circuitry problems and replaced six external outlets; 2) Installed 12 new high quality light switches involving 3-way and 4-way circuitry. In addition he was able to locate and install two non-standard switches; 3) Installed new light fixtures on front porch and driveway light post, and two street address plaques on the pier light post. The driveway fixture (from Amazon) was delivered with missing parts but Shane came up with a clever workaround and had the fixture installed in no time. I can’t emphasize enough the high quality customer service provided by Absten Services, and Shane’s knowledge, skill, and friendliness. In addition, the cost of their services is quite reasonable compared to other similar businesses in the greater Charleston, WV area. I highly recommend Absten Services and will not hesitate to call on them for any future needs.

They came out and to see me on a main water line repair. Several days passed by I called yhry said they were busy. I made several calls asking for the estimate. I talked to a lady by the name of Pam. Said the had to have their owner before thry could give an estimate. They finally sent me an emai estimate over $1200.for labor and to fix pipe. Nine days had passed. I hired two men too di.g down to the main line and fine the break. They spent ten hours digging it out. They found the line. Absten and Son called and said they were availible. I advised them we had found the leak and had hired laborers to dig ip the ground yo the leak. Yes to come out yo repair the line it was a six inch by 1inch section. That the estimate wiuld not be correct. The plumber came he stuck his hand down in the mud pulled the pipe up . Hot his boom box out of the van yurned his music on and turned my main water line off. Got in measured the pipe. Left for an hour. Came back with a 3 foot pipe cut a six inch piece off screwed a coupleing on each end . Said it was fixed. Told me I still him $1199.00 . I said you been here less then two hours and you were gone an hour. He told me to pay or he was not hoing to leave my property. I didnt have that amount to pay I told the office before they come out plus sent them a email all the work had been done inthe digging an location. Pam said she still wanted $750.00. I gave them a post dated check because the man was very intimidating. I have now checked out the pices by hour for 2019 plumbing at tops its $175.00 an or $450.00 gor the time spent. As a senior citizen I dont recommend them. They refused to give me a bill. I have now called the department of on contractor's in WV. They advised me to also call the attorney generals office also. I am filling out the complaint as I do so. .

I am restoring a home in Culloden. I called Absten & Sons to look at the gas package unit. It was 40 years old. They arrived on time and throughly looked over the entire system. We concluded that the unit needed to be replaced, the ducting system needed to be insulated, and the branch ducts needed to be replaced. That is a large scope of work with a potentially crippling price tag, but that was not the case. They gave me a reasonable price. They ordered the equipment and scheduled the installation for my preferred dates. Chase, Dusty, and Jason performed the installation over a 2 day period working over 10 hours each day. The outdoor temperatures were in the 30s. They were very attentive and focused on the installation and customer satisfaction. The sheet metal work was impressive. The efficiency of installing the new duct work was also impressive. They gave me regular updates throughout each day. The new unit works extremely well. They made a point of showing me the features of the unit and to explain the maintenance requirements. They included 1 year of free maintenance. I was also surprised with the inclusion of new grills for the air returns and new floor registers. Those were added features to the contract. Their attention to customer satisfaction is impressive. I highly recommend Absten & Sons.

Professional, Honest, and Highly Recommended. I’ve used Absten Services twice now, and they’ve earned my complete trust. They first installed a hot water tank for me and did a fantastic job, so they were my first call when I discovered a clog in my basement plumbing. What I thought was a simple clog turned out to be a much bigger issue—collapsed pipes beneath the basement floor. Instead of just patching things or overcharging, they stopped, walked me through the situation, and explained my options clearly. They returned quickly with the right equipment and got everything back up and running sooner than I expected. It’s hard to find a service you can actually trust these days; if you need plumbing or HVAC work, these are the guys to call.

We called to see about service and were told by secretary that she would call us back. Well, she did not bother to clarify what price or if anyone was available. Instead she just sent the crew. The older plumber was rude. They refused to provide an itemized receipt. The price for 40 minutes of work was $349.00! We called to find out why it was so expensive and were told travel time. We live 5 minutes away from the business! Then we were told it was after hours. Business hours are listed until 5 pm. The services were rendered shortly after 415-425p ( arrived then). Very dissatisfied with conduct and transparency. Can not in good conscience recommend this business.

We recently moved in to a “new to us” home and I needed our heat pump unit and air handler checked and serviced. Absten Services sent a team of two yesterday, May 30, 2025 that arrived promptly and were very helpful. They answered my concerns and provided feedback that was very helpful, as well as educational. Every detail of the check was explained in a way that I was able to understand, and the filter issue I was aware of was addressed. I will definitely be calling again for my electrical and plumbing needs, and I have signed up for regular HVAC maintenance. Thank you, “Absten guys”! I wish I noted your names! You are appreciated!

I woke up to a cold house and the company I had used in the past told me they couldn’t come to my home for over 24 hours. And the temps were expected to be below 10 degrees overnight. I called Absten and was told they would be there asap and she said she would not leave me with no heat overnight. The technicians were very knowledgeable and they came out within a couple of hours. Turned out I needed a part and they made a way to get it to my home and install it even though they didn’t finish work until 5:30. Their service was exceptional. They will be my first call if I ever need service again.

I have been using Absten for 10+ years for all my heating and cooling needs. It only seemed logical that they would be my best bet for electrical as well. From Pam in the office to Shane and his crew, I can't say enough good things about them! I have been extremely pleased with the work they've performed including upgrading my electrical box, installing a generator and most recently adding recessed lighting throughout my home. Shane is very knowledgeable and was quick to troubleshoot unexpected issues that came up with my older house. Thank you, Absten Services!

There were three problems. One was a GFI breaker near a sink that stopped working, holes in electrical panel needing covered, and a small leak under sink. THREE plumbers were sent for less than 10 minutes of work after 4:30pm snd estate was charged just over $500. Seriously, the tenant timed them from arrival to leaving (OCD but good tenant). First, three plumbers weren’t needed. The small leak was fixed in no time. Second, they did nothing about GFI breaker and hole on emectrical box. I had to hire someone else to fix those. I will not ever call them again.

I left a message with the office at 9am following loss of power in half of our home. My call was promptly returned and they had Shane out to my house within the hour. He was able to quickly identify the issue, picked up the necesarry parts, replaced the main breaker, and had us back up and running with full electricity before noon. Excellent customer service, very knowledgeable, efficient, and kind. My parents always used Absten for HVAC needs, and it is great to know they are still as reliable now as they were when I was growing up.
