Esteban did a phenomenal job! I want him to handle ALL of my plumbing needs! He was very personable, professional, and performed excellent work! Couldn’t recommend it more!
Esteban is an absolute lifesaver! I was terrified at what the leak in my ceiling was going to entail. He helped me every step of the way in finding the problem, and quickly repairing it. For a very reasonable price, I might add. Felt so good to be in good hands. Highly, highly recommended! Call this company, they are the ones you want.
Cannot recommend this company, and specifically Esteban, enough! We had a nasty leak that started coming through our plaster ceiling. Esteban patiently provided hours of technical advice on how to get at the problem, and then expertly fixed the problem. He made the whole process painless, transparent, and understandable for us. We were immediately at ease when he started explaining the process to us. We were assuming this would be weeks and weeks of troubleshooting, but he had it fixed in a matter of hours, for a very reasonable price. This is the company you want to call for your serious plumbing issue!!
1-Tom-Plumber, like Dial-Duron, Freedom Plumbing, etc, these big plumbing companies are really sales organizations that are way overpriced. I called 1-Tom-Plumber yesterday, Sunday, for a clogged toilet. The dispatcher said it would be $150.00 service call plus the fix. I asked how much to run the snake through the line. She said she didn't know but that unclogging toilets started at $299 (she knew). When the tech arrived he said it would be $565!! I almost fell over. I said to run a snake through the line?! He said yes and the proceeded to show me the menu of pricing on his tablet. These big companies are crooks. Use local small business plumbers. I have one coming today for $225.00 to do the same job. Even paying the $150.00 service call plus the $225.00 I'm saving $315.00. Bigger doesn't mean better or more cost effective!!
I am not complaining about the workmanship. Be aware that there is a minimum $259 charge. That is what I had to pay for less that half hour of work to replace a $10 shutoff valve in the toilet.
I have used 1-Tom-Plumber twice since purchasing our home back in Mid 2019. If I was basing this review solely on my first experience, I would give them 5 stars. We had our water heater replaced and the pricing with install was reasonable and the representative that came out was perfectly professional. However, if I was basing this review on my second experience, I'd give 1 star (or less if possible). I've actually had time to let myself cool off for a few months and thought about letting it go, but I just can't. I called their office to get a quote for reattaching a garbage disposal and connecting a new faucet to my kitchen sink. We had just finished getting new countertops and a new sink installed. I was explicitly clear on the phone about what I needed. No troubleshooting necessary, just "this is what I need to have done." They said they could not give me a quote over the phone and that they would need to send someone out. I was on a time table because we were about to leave town for a week and I wanted to make sure everything was connected properly before we left for vacation. They were the only people able to make it out same-day. The rep comes out (and you could tell he was fairly new). The cost for connecting an *existing* disposal with new hardware already purchased? 550 US dollars. If I had spent 20 minutes on YouTube, I could have pieced this together. If I did not go through with their service, I'd be charged $80 for them being there, even though I was extremely clear over the phone about what I needed. I didn't get a ballpark quote or anything. If I had known it would have been a dollar over $200, I would have done it myself. But it gets better! After the install was complete, the pipes were leaking. They were *about to leave* without fixing it and I said something. Of course they disassembled and did it correctly the second time, but proceeded to say they would recommend replacing the PVC with another material. I asked how much that would cost. $225. Was that recommendation made to be before the install? No. Only after their $550 worth of work was completed did they then recommend this. I then asked "if this starts leaking tomorrow, are you going to come back and fix it?" I was told yes, but I would have to pay an additional $225 to have them come back and fix the work they had just done. This is simply bad business. If anyone is paying you for a service, it is the expectation that it is done correctly the first time. Lastly, the bill didn't have a specific service listed. It was just categorized as "misc." with the $550 bill attached. There wasn't a single other "misc" charge in your coding system you could have used for your 25 minutes of labor with *zero* materials provided by the company? The icing on the cake - the plumbers putty used to install the new, black disposal ring to match the new black sink was installed with white putty. The excess had not been removed and there was a white ring of excess putty that I had to remove with a brush to make sure the finish looked professional. I am highly disappointed with the service, the pricing, and the attitude that was given to me. I'm a fairly chill dude 99% of the time but it took everything I had to stay calm in the moment. If you need a major appliance replaced? Go for it - I can't say anything negative about my experience there. Simple plumbing work? Go elsewhere. Find a handyman.
Pay Full Price, Get a Partial Fix -- Repeat as Needed This company managed to turn a straightforward plumbing leak into an expensive lesson in what happens when accountability is optional. We initially called them for a leak and were charged $769.39 just to assess the issue, followed by $7,098 for new pipes. Shortly after this "repair," the leak returned. When we called them back, they charged another $899, only to then tell us the problem was allegedly where our pipes connect to the county's system--work they are not licensed to perform. The county came out three separate times and confirmed the issue was not on their end. We then hired a second contractor, who immediately identified the real problem: the original job was simply not completed. He also stated--without hesitation--that he would be shocked if this company refunded even a dollar. When we asked why they would bid on a job they were not licensed to fully complete, their answer was astonishingly casual: they "didn't think it would be an issue." According to them, they fulfilled the contract because they "fixed the leak they could see." That explanation alone should alarm any potential customer. I later spoke with a supervisor who repeatedly deflected responsibility by asking, "How were we supposed to anticipate what we couldn't see?" That is not a defense--it is an admission. As a consumer, I do not hire a professional to fix only the visible portion of a problem. I hire them to fix the problem. No solutions were offered. No accountability was taken. Only excuses and a clear attempt to redefine failure as acceptable performance. Be warned: this company appears to complete just enough of a job to justify billing, then treats the remaining work as a series of costly "separate issues." You will be left paying thousands while being told no one is at fault. This was an expensive lesson learned the hard way. Save yourself the frustration, the time, and the money. Find literally anyone else.
Horrible experience, beware of overcharging! I emailed details of the vanity replacement via Yelp (2 sinks, 60" long vanity, remove existing vanity, replace with new vanity of the same size and install new faucets), and someone from the 1TomPlumber called right away to verify the job/details. I called several times and talked to company reps (including Sonny the owner) to provide details and schedule the appointment. The company rep. said while they couldn't provide a fixed price, the rough estimate was in the $500-$700 range. The plumber and his trainee assigned to the job showed up about 30 minutes late and reviewed the job. I asked if it would be possible to install the old faucets in our downstairs bathroom, and after reviewing the job he gave me an estimate of $2100. I was flabbergasted at the estimate! So, I said to remove the faucet reinstall, and the price estimate came down to $1400 which was double the original estimate which was still unreasonable. I spoke to Sonny the owner, asking him why the estimate was 100% more than the estimate. He ended up telling his plumbers to leave my house without servicing, even as I was going to relent. So unprofessional! I am so glad I didn't use 1TomPlumber. I called other top rated plumbers (Anderson Hill Plumbing, Flowrite plumbing) and their estimate was $700. The one I selected came out the next business day, installed the vanity, with the new faucets (did a fantastic job!) for $700. For another $300 he reinstalled the original faucets in another bathroom ($1100 less than 1TomPlumbing). It was a horrible experience so beware that they are trying to jack up the price on unsuspecting customers.
We paid $2200 to this company to fix a plumbing problem. They told us that an underground pipe needed to be replaced, and they dug up our yard to fix it. Only it wasn't fixed. When we called, they came back, found a clog in completely different place, and fixed it within about 10 minutes (after 20+ minutes of arguing about it). No excavator (or consequent yard damage) needed. We paid $2200 to fix what should have been a much cheaper solution. Beware - this company will make an expensive diagnosis and charge you a lot of money to fix what is actually a simple/less expensive issue. We really wanted to like this company and were excited to find someone local we thought we could trust. But when we tried to talk about this with the owner, there was no admission of screw-up, apology... not even an offer to split the cost of the unnecessary work performed. All he would say was that they completed the work for which we signed, whether it was needed or not.
As a renter who was experiencing a hot water line leak that three of our building's maintenance technicians were unable to diagnose or repair, this business really came to our rescue in a pinch. 1 Tom Plumber sent someone out, who was able to diagnose the issue within minutes, come up with a solution, and was ready to begin work immediately. Unfortunately, our building's management has water shut-off policies that held them up for 24hrs, but once they were able to resume work, they were done quicker than I could have imagined. They had the ceiling pieces out, making as little intrusion as possible into the drywall, and cut out the bad part of the line, fitted a new piece in, and cleaned up perfectly. I wish there were a 10-star option, because I can't thank these guys enough. In an emergency, these are the fellas to call.
PLUMBERS with HONESTY & INTEGRITY: After getting put through the ringer with one of their competitors, I was referred to 1-Tom-Plumber by a friend who stated that everyone I worked with there has been transparent, given me the best price and done the best work. Ryan, came out quickly to help us in an emergency, clearly articulated the problem and said this is what needs to be done. Ryan stated that what we had previously been quoted was actually on city property and therefore we shouldn't be paying for it and in fact our sewer line was just fine. He didn't try to upsell us naive first-time homeowners, he treated us like family. I would use Ryan and 1-Tom-Plumber for ANY of my plumbing needs moving forward as I know I will get an honest, fair price and the work will be done right. I will recommend them to ALL MY FRIENDS.
Before writing this review, I looked through some of the other reviews. I know not everybody agrees, but I was very pleased with the quality of service that I received. I was recently told by another company (family run) that I could either spend roughly $7,000 to fix one issue or about $14,000 to fix everything. WHAT?! They were very nice and polite, but I also learned they are commission based. I desperately needed a second opinion. Ed came out and said that the new system I had only purchased not even 2 years ago would continue to work for quite some time. I just need to keep things maintained; now that I can do. Thank you, Ed, for being so transparent and honest. And I also want to thank the staff for getting someone out to me the same day.
I cannot say enough great things about this company, especially field techs, Sonny and Braeden. They helped us out with multiple issues, including an emergency clog and overflow, and eventually a sewer line repair in which they installed epoxy lining. They did all the services, including related dig work and concrete themselves, saving us from having to find other contractors. They are assisting us with getting the insurance claim filed as well. Their services were reasonably priced and everything was super transparent. They did not try to sell us additional services and were respectful of our home, cleaning up well afterward. Thank you so much to these guys! We will indeed use them as our plumber of choice moving forward!
We had had a back up in our drain in the basement from a clog in the mainline. Cullen and Damon explained what was likely the cause and proceeded to diagnose the problem for certain by putting a video camera in the line and then recommending to hydro jet the line which we then did. Afterwards they provided us with a video of what they did and what they suggested as a solution to potential future problems. They were not pushy in their suggestions at all. In fact, they were exceptionally professional, personable, and efficient in every way. I would recommend 1-Tom enthusiastically to any in need of plumbing services.
Teenagers. Right after having a discussion about courtesy flushing when you have a monster dump, my granddaughter did just that and followed that by using an inordant amount of TP. Sigh. Her mom broke the news to me. I told them to put the seat down so I didn't even have to see it. I put in a work order and wondered how long it would take to get it fixed. Shudder. Within an hour there was a knock on the door and a very pleasant man told me not to worry and he would fix it up. And he did, taking his bucket and plunger and left. I was so happy I didn't have to deal with that mess. Life is good.
