Donnell serviced my furnace today. He was very thorough, explained the details, and made great suggestions regarding types of furnace filters and the frequency of changing them. He also suggested changing the thermostat batteries yearly, which I did not know or do. He showed me how to remove the cover and adjust the time after changing the batteries out. I would like for him to service my furnace next year as well. He was one of the best serviceman you have sent out. Thank you. I sure hope you value the good service Donnell provided. Ms. J Pulphus

Recently, Donnell came to our house to do a yearly inspection of our furnace. He was very professional and thorough. He explained what and the process of what he was doing. While here he gave us some recommendations for additional things that could be done to protect our furnace in the event of power outages. He also put in an order for filters for the Solace Air cleaner we have in our house. They should be delivered to the home in a couple days. He was kind enough to make sure I was putting the filters in correctly. He took the time to answer any questions we had on what was being done while he was here. Thanks, Donnell, for being very thorough, taking the time to answer any questions we had and ordering the filters we needed.

Do yourself a favor and NOT call this company. It'll end up costing you a fortune and a whole lot of headache.

I don’t know who gives this place such high ratings, We called because we had a problem with our water tank, but still had hot water. Guy came in Wednesday at 4:00 PM, told me what was wrong within 5 minutes, I said fix it, he said it was too late and we would have to wait till the following day and charged me $100 to analyze it. Wasted half my day but finally shows up Thursday and supposedly fixed it, this time he stayed 10 whole minutes, and charged me $130. Now I have no hot water, so we called and now they want to charge me an additional $169!!! Before they came I had hot water, my 4 yr old tank was just making a popping noise and now I have no hot water after they “fixed it.” Warning don’t fall into this web that I fell into, I have a feeling that this is going to take a call to the BBB, and another waste of a day.! SCAM ALERT, UPDATE!!! Before I had this outfit come out, I had hot water. My AO Smith water heater is 4 yrs old on a 10 yr warranty. Now they had a new guy come out today (wasting day 3) and told me I needed a whole new water heater at $2800 and it was nothing they did and then he proceeded to tell me that if it was their fault rest assured he would of told me. My opinion is the first guy messed up, and really screwed up my water heater, because if I needed a new one, he could of told me on day one, so the company isn’t going to eat a water heater, so they tried selling me a new one. I will be reporting them to BBB, and now I have to waste a day taking them to small claims to at least get the money they took from me, and try to recover some loss on a new water heater, but the company knows it’s going to be impossible for me to prove that, so I still lose, but maybe this review will do somebody else some good and before they respond with “Call us, so we can discuss your problem.” We tried calling before hand, and tried to talk to a manager, and of course got no response because “They were too busy”

Pathetic place to do business with! 3 years ago they but in 95% furnace and a central air conditioner in my home in hammond! They said I would save on heating and electricity! 3 years later I have paid over 4 thousand more then my neighbors! Have all the documents I need to prove this! Also have called them out about 4 times maybe more because still 3 years later is not working properly! They were out here a year ago and I told their worker the thermostat is horrible and never worked right, I had told them this multiple times! They changed it but the true problem was never brought to my attention for 3 years! The true problem was only brought to light after a guy was here a few weeks ago that this thermostat works off a online computer line and I told him (Josh) I don't have no online service at all in my house! I told him I prefer the other little thermostat that is not controlled by online service but he insisted me take this great one he was in love with! It was only then (a few weeks ago that he made a call and was told that my thermostat was running off a computerized online system to witch I told him again I have no service in my home no working computer! Weird I have had this 3 years losing thousands of dollars on heat and air and Josh just found out the reason but didn't fix it! He tried putting in my email but nothing! So here 3 years later they should reimburse me for crappy no good system they put in and my charges from so much higher nipsco bill! It is 60 outside and I need run air plus little window air conditioner it's totally wrong this pathetic job! I have got all kinds of documents to show how they literally messed over me and continue for 3 years and counting! Everyday it says like 60 and then I have air running continuously because in my house it's 76 and humid! I will legally take care of this

Go to Yelp for the real, un-monitor reviews. BEWARE. They have good reviews, but here is a breakdown of the one star. Would be negative one if possible. EDIT - They left trash behind. The bucket with all their unnecessary rebuild junk left next to the toilet. For those who have frustrations dealing with AI and auto-booking... they have an annoying robot who books appointments who cannot differentiate members from non-members. Took two phone calls and 6 minutes to connect to an actual human. The things meant to help are harming us. Pay people, not machines. Regarding machines, the plumber took a quick look and confirmed it was the fill value not doing the job. Something I told my mom I could fix easily with a part from ACE. He quoted $368 for a rebuild, which didn't need to be done. I replaced the flapper and chain about a 6 months prior. Not only is this an easy DYI fix with a $20 part, but he tossed the 6 month old flapper and chain. He tossed the work I just did. THIS DID NOT NEED TO BE DONE and it's insane to charge that much. It already costs members $69 to come out, and $368 is with the member discount. I am not the home owner, so I have no say so in approving the work. I have builder friends and my neighbor (HOA) agreed the price is insane. $437 to fix a $20 problem. This is 2026 and my mom is on a very limited fixed income. I spoke to Ben the manager, asked for a breakdown. If the up-charge was the parts or labor. He said there is no break down and that's what it costs. I could not have been more angry with these people. If you know nothing about plumbing, than learn. Because it ridiculous to be charged that much for something so easy to fix.

Donnell was exceptional during my service call today. He arrived with a calm, patient, and professional demeanor, and his knowledge of the heating system was immediately clear. He explained why my furnace had stopped working and recommended that I begin seasonal maintenance a little earlier to help prevent future issues. He also took the time to ask whether I had any dust concerns or recent renovations in my home—which I have—and explained how important it is to schedule ductwork cleaning and services in situations like mine. I truly appreciated that level of thoroughness and will definitely be moving forward with those services in the future. On top of that, he helped me change the batteries in my thermostat, something no technician has ever mentioned or offered to help with before, and explained how often I should be replacing my filter. Those small but meaningful steps showed how much he genuinely cares about his customers. I was so impressed with his patience, knowledge, and willingness to go the extra mile that I requested he be assigned to my future service calls. Donnell is truly an asset to the company. Summer’s Heating & Cooling has earned my full recommendation. Their fast response ensured that me and my three babies are back in a warm, safe, and comfortable home. I am sincerely grateful for the care and support they provided today.

Do not use this company. Terrible service from customer service to HVAC installation to repairs. It started by having a new HVAC system installed. My new furnace would not run after being installed. The exhaust was improperly installed. Next, our house would not heat properly. A technician came out and found that the furnace was not attached properly to the vent. The technician found rags that were used to close the gaps. The technician took the rags out and used tape to try and seal the gaps. He ran out of tape and advised me to buy more tape to finish the job. The next issue came when the pilot would not stay lit causing the furnace not to run. A technician was called out on a Sunday for repairs. The technician cleaned a sensor which corrected the issue. The charge was $396 for a 10 minute job. He talked me into buying a yearly service plan that he said would cover the repair and also include tuning up the air and heating for a year. I had an appointment for a tune up for the air in early summer. Summers canceled the appointment saying that other jobs came up. They wanted to reschedule 2 weeks out. I canceled because of a vacation. Summers canceled my service plan. They also refused to reimburse my money for the yearly service plan. This is not a good company. The company is run by incompetent people.

2026 update: I've been having Summers work on projects for me for a few years now, from a dead hot water tank, to a cracked furnace, to a water softener and new, more more reliable sump. All the techs that have come out and I'm sure I don't remember them all - Dan, Brian, Charlie, Mike, Zach (I'm sorry if I forgot anyone) - are always the most friendly folks and do great work, not to mention answer every single question I have. I can't understate the level of service they provide. Original review: Summers is great and always very responsive to calls, squeezing customers in when possible, and the folks on the phone lines are willing to listen to your problem to help you get set up with what you need. Technically, the technician wasn’t even “on time” for the appointment as much as he was very early, as he was freed up from a job earlier in the morning. In short, two valve replacements and a hot water tank and heater replacement later, and I have hot water again, within the span of 24 hours! On top of that, their membership service is pretty rad. For plumbing and HVAC in the area, Summers is it!

I had an amazing experience with Summers Plumbing Heating & Cooling. No one wants to be told they need a new furnace: especially at the holidays. Kevin didn't make me feel stressed out. He came and inspected my furnace when the pilot light went out. I knew deep down what he was going to say. Sure enough, my furnace was too far gone to be fixed...it was 35 years old. Kevin came back the next day with the estimate. I was able to get an appointment to work around my work schedule for the installation of a new furnace. Jake came out early and began to disassemble my old furnace. Then, Mark and Adam came. They had everything installed and cleaned up perfectly so I could get to work. They were so professional. The following day, Kevin contacted me to see how everything was going with the new furnace. I told him everything was amazing with the installation. I even called their boss, Ben, to let him know how pleased I was with the service I was given. Everyone should use Summers Plumbing Heating and Cooling. I highly recommend them. Great job Kevin, Jake, Mark, and Adam!

This company did respond overnight and sent a tech out at 1:30am during freezing weather, which I appreciated. However, after diagnosing a faulty high-limit switch on my 3-year-old furnace, I was told my unit “wasn’t good” and would likely need full replacement. No one explained the underlying cause or performed airflow diagnostics. I paid for the service call but never received an ETA on the part despite multiple follow-up calls. Customer service was kind, but there was no follow-through or resolution. I ultimately got a second opinion. That company confirmed the same faulty part, completed a full diagnostic, explained everything clearly, and determined my furnace does NOT need replacement — just routine maintenance (coil/blower/air chamber cleaning). They had the part available and restored heat the same day. I’m glad they came out overnight, but the experience felt more sales-driven than service-driven. I’m grateful I sought a second opinion.

My experience with this company was very disappointing. I called them because my A/C was not cooling properly. After inspecting it, the technician told me the thermostat was bad. I specifically asked him, “What if I replace the thermostat and the problem still happens?” He confidently told me, “It won’t.” I replaced the thermostat with a brand new, but the exact same issue continued. When I called the company back, the technician finally tested another thermostat and proved the system was actually working with a different one. I told him that this was exactly why I had asked him earlier to verify it before assuming the thermostat was the issue. At that point, he wanted to charge me again for another diagnostic visit. The thermostat that solved the issue cost only $38, yet they expected me to pay around $260 more for the service. In my opinion, this company is extremely overpriced for the level of troubleshooting provided. No thanks!
