This afternoon, Patrick and Isaiah of Smith & Sons Plumbing came over to replace the hose bib on the side of the house. They were very personable and extremely professional. They took the time to explain answers to my questions, including showing me the shut off valves on the water meter and the Pressure Reducing Valve (I didn't even know the PRV had a shut off valve!). Patrick also allowed me to choose which handle I wanted for the hose bib. It was a small gesture, but it was important to me, and I'm grateful for his attention to that. They did a great job, and they were lovely gentlemen.

I had a really great experience with Smith and Son plumbing! when they came out to fix a leak in my yard. They showed up on time, were easy to talk to, and took the time to explain what was going on before getting started, which I really appreciated. The repair was handled quickly and professionally, and you can tell they take pride in their work. I wouldn’t hesitate to call them again or recommend them to others!

We've had Smith & Sons out a few times, and the initial repairs have been prompt and a decent price, but all the repairs seem to have recurring issues. Toilets with wax rings that fail just a month after warranty. Our latest repair from August 2025 for Quarter Angle turns failed and once again they were ready to charge as we were out of warranty. We contracted a plumber today to take a look at the repair and he reported they had used the original compression fitting, replacing only the valve component. In the process they had cracked the compression nut and it was slowly weeping behind the valve. We did not notice as we hardly use that bathroom. The warranties are too short with S&S, and the onus is put on the homeowner to make sure the work is done right. This seems like a clear defective install (why was the compression fitting not also replaced?) and not a "wear and tear" problem.

With so many positive reviews, this was the reason I called. Unfortunately , I will never recommend these guys again. Long story but in end, my problem wasn't solved. They wanted to charge another $1,000, then reduced that to $600 and promised they would come back on a Monday to fix the issue for $600. Well they never showed up for agreeded upon day, no call/text. Well I saw SA Specialties advertised on KSAT and took my chances. Well it worked in my favor . The $600 job Plumbsmart quoted me ended up being $300.

ETA: I have edited the review to add a photo that shows the written estimate that Cody sent me after we got off the phone. Before accusing a customer of lying, one would be smart to check their records and make sure they don't have proof to back up their claims. As noted, my initial interactions with this company left me feeling they were less than honest with their lack of transparent pricing. However, the harassment by Cody and Adam after leaving a 3-star review initially are what earned them a 1-star review. The reply to this one-star review below tells you all you need to know about Cody's character. In looking at other low reviews (to which PlumbSmart replied to every single one, blaming the customer), I now see that others have mentioned their high-pressure sales tactics. BUYER BEWARE! P.S. Apparently this company works really hard to get Google to remove any review that is not 5-star, even when the review states facts and has receipts to prove it. I now realize PlumbSmart's "5-star" rating on Google is not authentic. As Cody mentioned, Yelp does not allow businesses to bully or buy their way out of low reviews. Thank goodness! Original Review: I reached out to this company for a quote for a water softener installation for our new home. The price I was quoted was $3,000 for the cheapest water softener they sell, plus an extra $2,000 for a carbon filter. That's high compared to other quotes, but no big deal. Companies can make up whatever price they wish. The kicker for me was that I couldn't get a straight answer on the price to install a plumbing loop. I was told it would be between $800-$1500, but they would need to come out to the house to give me a price. Okay, that's fine. However, I was then told I was going to be charged $79 for a tech to come out to the house to tell me the price for the install. They advertise here on Yelp, "Free Estimates," but apparently that is false advertising (see photo). The final thing that didn't sit well is that they wanted me to commit to having the work done on the day that they came out to give the quote. I don't make a decision on a purchase that is over $6,000 on the spot. That is a very high pressure sales tactic. Ultimately, this made me choose another company. That alone led to a 3-star Google review. However, after leaving that review, the two owners of the company, Cody and Adam, harassed me so much that I lowered my review to 1-star. What did that harassment look like? They collectively called and texted me TWELVE times in the span of one hour, calling from different numbers when I didn't answer the first number. They likely would have continued, but I blocked their numbers. Clearly, they have some other good reviews, so I sincerely hope they were (both?) having an off day when they blew up my phone on Monday. However, based on the fact that they worked so hard to get me to take down my honest (3-star) review recounting my experience with their company, I question the legitimacy of their 5-star rating here. While I did not end up hiring them, my experience with them absolutely reflects their professionalism--or lack thereof. You can check my other Yelp reviews to see the awesome company we ended up choosing instead!

What do you do when you hear running water but can't find the leak? Submit a project on Yelp and hope you get a good plumber :) After I submitted the project Ammalya got in touch with me quickly. They were able to set up an appt on a Saturday with ease. She was informative, gave me a very accurate timeline as to when someone would be out there, professional and friendly. I received a text when Albert was on his way with a picture so I'd know who was coming. He was professional and friendly. He got in and, like me, couldn't find the leak. He told me it was most likely a slab leak. I'll be honest, the price to find out if it was a slab leak scared me since he couldn't be sure it was that without doing the slab testing. When you see zero water but know there's a leak, you have to do something. They were able to come out on Sunday to do the testing and do the repair. I was impressed they could come that quick. We also figured out the leak appeared to be going from the hot water through the house so he showed me how to cut the hot water off so I could still have water in the house but stop the leak. Albert and the additional tech showed up Sunday morning. They got to work and found the leak quickly, got it repaired quickly and I was able to get on with my weekend. I was fortunate and only one hole was put in my drywall and though they didn't repair (as I knew they would not!). The tech put the drywall up and I gave him duct tape that he put on for me so my cats didn't get it in. I did find out I should have been given a discount. I texted them and Ammalya called me back (on a Sunday afternoon), assured me she would credit me back without a problem. I can say she made she it was taken care of and the credit was reflected on my credit card within a couple of days. I highly recommend PlumbSmart and will use them again if needed. (I had a plumbing issue last year and did a Yelp project as well. A company reached out to me but couldn't make it out there that night, (it was a Friday night) so he recommended another company who could make it out. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was taken care of and facilitated it all. After looking at my project Sunday evening, I realized it was PlumbSmart who did that for me. 2 for 2 and didn't even know it!)

I recently had a new water heater installed as my last one kicked the bucket. At that install, the plumber advised that I should invest in a water softener. Prior to this recommendation, I'd been thinking about investing in a water softener for some time. This is because living in a home with hard water has left scale and buildup on my appliances and fixtures as well as has aggravated my son's eczema. Two days ago, I was doing my Yelply duties and giving shout outs to my fellow Yelpers and noticed one of my Yelp peeps left a glowing review for PlumbSmart. After reading the review and looking into the company, I contacted PlumbSmart via the Yelp request a quote function on 2/1/22 and received a response from the business almost right away. I was contacted by Cody who asked what my needs were to determine what type of water softener system I required. During the conversation, I never felt "sold"or pressured to buy the most expensive product. After the decision was made on which system I intended to purchase, to my surprise, Cody was able to get Roger (the installer) to my home within 24 hours to do the install. After the install, Cody called to ask if I had any questions and if I was satisfied. The level of customer service I received from PlubSmart is unparalleled. #supportlocal #supportveteranowned

I have had a few highly disappointing experiences with Smith and Son Plumbing. Debbie, the secretary, is extremely rude and unhelpful. Despite me specifying my availability, she repeatedly scheduled plumbers at times I couldn't be home, then blamed me for missed appointments to my property manager. It took several frustrating conversations before an alternative arrangement was offered. The plumbers themselves are untrustworthy. They consistently provided misleading information. To me, they claimed issues like "old pipes" or "minor fixes," but reported completely different problems to the property manager, such as "hair in drains," "clogs," or falsely stating I didn't have a stopper. In reality, the supposed clogs were minimal and wouldn't cause blockages, and I did have a stopper which they removed for photos. I suspect they might be in cahoots with the property management company or simply taking advantage to ensure more work for themselves. Their visits are brief, usually less than five minutes, and the problems persist after they leave. This results in me having to fight unjust charges due to their inconsistent and dishonest reporting. Overall, I found Smith and Son Plumbing to be unprofessional and unreliable. I would not recommend their services to anyone.

We couldn't recommend PlumbSmart more. We have had 3 issues in the past 6 months and have called them all 3 times. The first issue was for our rental property in Wimberley. Their quote was fair and the work was professional. The other 2 issues were for our personal home in San Antonio. The first issue turned out to not be plumbing related but hvac related. They had a hvac partner of theirs out here within the hour. The third issue was for a leak due to the freeze. They were so kind to work with our insurance. When our insurance was unresponsive, Brandon (the tech for the job) personally called me to make sure we were going ok since our water was off. I also love Amalia who answers the phone. She is so kind and knowledgeable. I have also spoken personally with the owner Adam. He is also super kind and easy to talk to. It seems they put a lot of thought and consideration into the people they chose to be on their team. They really care about their customers. They come in with a problem solving hat on and they make me feel comfortable and are never condescending or arrogant as some plumbers can be. We plan on using them for all of our rentals and our personal home for all of our plumbing issues in the future.

We recently had a major backup in our plumbing system in both bathrooms, on a Saturday. What a stinky, nasty mess! Based on positive Yelp reviews, I called PlumbSmart and spoke with Roger. He stated they could be out the next day. When I conveyed my distress to Roger, their Operations Manager, he scheduled us that evening. He came out himself along with Devon. They were polite, respectful, and knowledgeable. They quickly cleaned the drain line and in the process found tree roots had grown into a joint in the line. They also found calcium buildup in the lines and recommended hydrojet cleaning. When I declined the hydrojet service because of the additional cost (husband recently had a stroke, no longer able to work) I received a call from Cody. He was most understanding and generously offered the hydrojet service pro bono. We were absolutely stunned and most grateful. Roger scheduled the digging crew quickly and Devon returned to replace the line within a day. The job was done right and fast. We couldn't be happier with the service we received from Roger and Devon and Cody's kindness. We highly recommend PlumbSmart and will call them first for any future issues we may have.

My water heater went out last week and I needed some help quickly. I called my existing plumber (large company in SA) to diagnose the problem but was always nervous they were going to try to sell me something or recommend a replacement when a repair would also work. Also, I was tired of haggling with them to price match with competitors and never knowing if I was getting ripped off or not. I started looking for another plumber on google and Yelp and called 5 of them to get quotes, to test their response times, and to ask about the preventative maintenance. Long story short, the last one I called was PlumbSmart and the rest was history! Their 5-star reviews gave me a first great impression, and then it was smooth sailing from start to finish! Their answering service got me in touch with one of the owners, Cody, that returned my call quickly, and gave me some friendly and candid advice and perspective. I am extremely happy with their work and they put in a pan which actually drains to the outside now, which was not there before (water damage risk). Review from January 2023. Forgot to post it here.

Called PlumbSmart after reading numerous favorable reviews on line. My hot water heater began spewing water into my garage so had to turn the water off to the house. Cody from PlumbSmart came out the same day and immediately determined that my 11 year old hot water heater had rusted out and needed to be replaced. He presented several options and never tried to up-sell me. I was impressed by that. He assured me that no matter which heater I chose, it would be installed professionally, would come with a warranty, and I would have hot water again. I felt so taken care of. George came out the next day and he and his helper (sorry, didn't get his name) took out my old heater and installed the new one. And in record time! They even added an overflow to the outside from the hot water heater closet so no repeat of water spewing into my garage. Hopefully this one lasts 11 years, too! George emailed me several photos of the newly installed heater and advised what the hot water setting was. Could not be more pleased with the response and professionalism from PlumbSmart!

Smith & Sons Plumbing is the only plumbing company to call! They are reliable, knowledgeable, and an honest plumbing company with the best prices! I have to thank Ben & his helper for working so hard & getting the job done right. Also, Debbie for her assistance with the paperwork I needed and always making sure to call me to keep me updated. The pricing is by far the best! Another plumbing company gave my mother in law a quote for $4230.00 and they did not even inspect to see where the waterline came in or how they would reroute the line. Smith and Sons Plumbing did a complete inspection and determined how and what was needed to be done beforehand and only charged $2550.00. That's definitely a big difference and saved me a lot. I will tell everyone not to waste time with any other plumbing company- just call Smith and Sons Plumbing first to get any plumbing job done right and at the best price. Thanks to everyone at Smith and Sons Plumbing for everything!! Y'all are awesome! Highly Recommended!! 5+⭐

Do yourself a favor and stop looking for another plumber these guys are honest and professional beyond anything I can express in a yelp review. I cannot urge anyone enough to utilize this company as they are the only plumbers you will ever need. I had a different company come out recently and try and scam me out of $1400 for a new PRV valve and expansion tank that was replaced by the same scammers less than 3 years ago. Joe from PlumbSmart came out and diagnosed all of that to be false and did not charge me a dime. Honesty from a company is such a hard thing to find in this day and age which is a shame. Honesty cannot be purchased and the fact that they are of good character while also professional and knowledgeable beyond the power of money says everything. That being said once you find good business like PlumbSmart there's no need to look anywhere else. I appreciate all of that and hope to express my gratitude by utilizing them for any and all business in the future.
