We tracked down Plumb Doctors after a few plumbers recommended by friends turned us down because they didn't service tankless water heaters. We've since used them twice and I can highly recommend! Marc came out last year because our water wouldn't stay hot during showers. He showed up promptly, immediately diagnosed the issue as a faulty check valve, and had it replaced within minutes. He took the time to explain to us what he was doing and even showed us how to replace it ourselves in the future (plus how to flush our system) so we wouldn't have to pay for the same service again. We called Marc out again earlier this week because we thought we damaged our heater after we fumbled through some self-maintenance. He came out on time and quickly confirmed nothing was wrong. He then stayed another 20-30 minutes to answer all of our questions, even allowing us to record videos of him showing how to do some basic maintenance so we wouldn't always have to rely on a plumber. I don't believe they're the cheapest but we found the pricing to be fair after getting comps from a few other places. More importantly, Plumb Doctor and Marc have always been reliable, professional, courteous, and friendly. I appreciate their transparency and willingness to explain and educate us on what they're doing. I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone who needs help.
I recently had the opportunity to work with Plumb Doctors, and I am extremely satisfied with the service provided. After submitting an online request outside of normal business hours, I was impressed by the prompt response and confirmation of my appointment within just two hours. Jami, the plumber assigned to my job, was punctual and professional. He ensured I was informed of his arrival time and kept me updated when he needed to leave and return for supplies. Jami managed his apprentice well, giving clear instructions and delegating tasks efficiently while handling other company needs. This not only demonstrated his leadership skills but also his ability to multitask effectively. Jami's communication was excellent. He quickly identified the issue, explained the underlying problem in a way that was easy to understand, and kept me informed throughout the repair process. His commitment to customer service was evident as he took before, during, and after pictures of the repairs, which he later emailed to me for my personal records. This attention to detail and dedication to ensuring I had a complete record of the work done was greatly appreciated. Overall, my experience with Jami and Plumb Doctors was outstanding. I highly recommend them for anyone in need of reliable and professional plumbing services. I will certainly be using their services again in the future.
Insinkerator Badger trash disposal was leaking. Unit was 11+ years old; it was time. Called up the docs and needed it expeditiously because my tenant was moving in the very next morning. They sent muh man, Josh, over and he was brilliant. Walked me through the diagnosis and required solution. Got all that was needed from his van, showed me what thorough repair/replacement experience is supposed to be like. Thanks a ton, Josh! The entire thing was most definitely on the pricey side but it needed to be done. I had no other viable options and was literally in the 11th hour. This Badger should last another 10+ years, hopefully. I highly recommend Plumb Docs and if you want a best-in-class experience, ask for Josh!!
Beyond disappointing- said they would be out this morning. Around 11:30am I called to confirm they were still coming, and was told the technician would be here in about an hour. Another hour went by, I called again- this time no one picked up and I was sent to a full mailbox. I even tried 2 more times in case that was a fluke- same message. I wish I had searched reviews by “most recent” as it seems this place does not have any positive reviews in the last 7 months. Do not call!!
Installed faulty shower pan, dodged calls for months, then provided inadequate response to resolve issue. Would recommend for basic work, but avoid them for any difficult / non-basic work.
The whole company did a fantastic job in communicating, coming out in a timely manner, explaining to me what the problem was with both of my toilets in a guest bathroom as well as my primary ensuite bathroom 'toilet closet'for lack of a better term. Not only that but, they were able to easily replace both toilets and flanges in under two hours flat- on a slab concrete foundation-which is no easy task! It requires specialized toolto drill into the slab concrete. I now know this, because they explained to me that the old toilets hadn't originally been soldered to the slab foundation, which they they should have been in 1982, when this house was built so that's why they were continuously leaking and that no amount of tightening the bolts was going to 'solve it. They answered any and all of my questions throughout the process. They are a full service plumbing company, both for residential and commercial projects, who are located in the Austin area. When, and if, I need another residential plumbing job in my house completed, they will be my go-to plumbing company to contact. I highly recommend them My new toilets look beautiful, no more leaking, the style I picked out, and that I ended up purchasing from Lowe's the day before they came out to do the removal of the old ones, and installation of the new ones.Side note : they ended up being the exact ones that were recommended to me by Plumb Doctors -American standard brand(sometimes brands matter with things as they do with everything there's a reason you're reading this review on an iPhone, am I right?! Anyway they had recommended a round bowl shape to fit the size of the space as my bathrooms are fairly small, and round shape would making it easier to get around the toilet vs that of an elongated toilet bowl shape. Lastly they recommended either chair or ADA height, which are each a bit taller than standard height toilets , as I have a mild physical disability , and a higher toilet height does makes it much easier to get up and down, for me at least They took all this into consideration before even giving suggestions on toilets or telling me what I should do to remedy the problem.I feel like the pricing was on par with the research I had fin done and equal to or less than offeother quotes i received. I like that they did their quote as in 'all included' type of quote, meaning what it would cost to get the job done . I knew I was going to have to buy my own toilets since i had purchased this home in 2021. Shame on me for waiting so long to do it. But at least I finally did do it and found a pretty dependable and great service plumbing company out of waiting. But Don't make my mistake and put it off! Definitely just reach out to this company and get it knocked out. I feel like all residential service companies whether it be electrical, plumbing, roofing, etc. should offer customer service like Plumb Doctors does, which is outstanding! 10/10! I've got no pictures of the before, nor would I share those but I guess I can post some of the 'after job completion' here soon. Thanks guys!
I'm very confused about my experience today. The issue is my water heater won't turn on. The water heater is fine, with no leaks and no gas smell; it's the electric control box that won't work. We did make sure our breaker in the house works, and the electricity everywhere else works. Water heaters aren't like phones or computers, and you can't just plug them in somewhere else to test them. I went to yelp! I had seen the yelp reviews were good; I went to the website and put in a web request. I didn't want the emergency plumbing appointment, and I did not call. But it was early in the morning when I put the web request in. First positive, I got a great response back in an email. It was cheerful, had great information, gave me a number to call, and said, 'we only do onsite quotes' and 'let's schedule you for a quote. Perfect! This is great! So I called. I was on hold for a long time. Then a woman answered, and I told her what was going on, I explained I put in a web request, and I got an email response to schedule for it, and I needed the quote and what was wrong with the water heater. Now, it's very possible, and I'll contend this, that I said that quickly and she didn't understand me. That's why I'm giving this rating 3 stars and not 1 for the situation. This could be my fault for not speaking more carefully initially. Yet, whatever it was, I didn't get any probing questions, or "What's your name, ma'am" or anything to see if I put in a request. Her response was, "Ummmm, hmmm, let me see if we even do that," I was on hold a long time again. When she returned, she sounded more confused than I felt as I wrote this. "Well, we only go out to the property, and we would have to look at it, and then we would determine if we could even fix it or if it has to be replaced." I know that. At the beginning of the call, I told her I had gotten the email. I was calling to schedule as the email said. Why is she confused? Why doesn't she know how it works if she works there? I said, "Yeah, I figured that's what you would do." She says, again sounding completely confused, "Well, um, let's schedule you, but um, I have to tell you something to make sure you understand." Okay. "We can only come out during the emergency hours, so it's going to be more money." I did explain that I didn't want the emergency hours; that's why I put in the request. She told me they might be able to "maybe" see me sometime next week. She did it with the tone of someone about to tell you, "no, we can't," the next second. Are they that busy, or is it me? I don't get it. The reviews are great, the email was great, and the owner looks great, but if the person taking the orders isn't sure how to do an order or how the order works, how do I know it will be booked correctly? I told her I'd call back, but I'm unsure if I will. I was left confused and unsure after that call. I thought I'd leave this review, at least. Maybe it's a weird day. Anyway, that's my experience.
We first used Plumb Doctors (then called Plumb Masters) two years ago when the toilet started backing up at our previous house. Joe came out, did a thorough assessment, and found we had root intrusion from a nearby live oak. Joe turned what was looking like a $50K+ problem (tunneling under the slab foundation) into $2K through a creative (and code-compliant) solution. Joe's honesty, professionalism, and skill made him our go-to plumber. When we were looking to buy a new house last year, we had Joe come out to do a thorough inspection. He found that the main sewer line had settled and no longer ran at the right slope, causing sections to be completely flooded. He provided a reasonable quote as well as a video of the issue that we provided to the sellers who agreed to split the cost. We had the work completed last month, and it was completely seamless. Joe and his team came early and stayed late to ensure we weren't without water for any more time than was needed. They were always in close contact so we knew the status of each stage of work as well as the inspection. Andrew also got involved along the way who is also fantastic. Finally, we had Joe and Andrew (of course) replace our water heater a few weeks ago which was also a great experience. They provided a quote in range of other similar shops and had the installation down to a science. In and out. We hope we're at the end of our plumbing needs for a while, but if anything comes up, we know we're in good hands!
One of our bathroom sinks backed up. We ran a snake down the pipe but it kept going into the roof vent path. We called Blue Dragon and they said that it sounded like we needed a drain camera and they did not have one but referred us to Plumb Doctors. I scheduled and was told that there was an $89 service call fee but it would be waived if we went ahead with service. Marc and Gabe came and after I signed for the $337 drain opening service they brought in a large power auger. They said their drain camera could not make the turns in the pipe. They tried several times to use the big snake but could not get it to go through. Marc said it looked like the pipe was collapsed or rusted shut and said we would need to tunnel under the house at a cost of $18,000. He knocked $50 off the service since they did not get the drain clear so I was charged $287 for no results. After they left we tried our little wire snake again, got it into the correct pipe and snagged the hair clog and cleared the drain. I called and asked about getting reimbursed for some of the $287 since it was obviously a wrong diagnosis. I was told I would get a call today from the operations manager but no call. I would not recommend this company.
This review is purely for their scheduling and reliability. I cannot comment on their actual service/quality of work as I was not able to get that far. Overall, making an appointment is easy; however, there seemed to be a lack of communication between the person who took my information/confirmed my appointment and the person who schedules the technicians to come out. After taking a work day off to be at home for the scheduled window 8am-12pm, no one showed, so I called after the window, and they could not find my appointment. The person on the phone even indicated that there was probably confusion with all the requests, but I understood things happen at that point, and they were reasonable enough to put me on the schedule for the second half of the day (2-6pm). Well 6pm comes and goes, and I'm still here with a busted pipe and no water. The scheduler tells me they are running behind and the tech is finishing a job and will be on his way, well another hour goes by and another hour goes by. By 8:45, I just called it quits. Have a backup if you have an important/urgent repair at your home. Prompt in scheduling but failed to deliver. Maybe you'll have better luck.
The Good: :: it's a local business! :: they offer regular and emergency plumbing services :: they are very professional in communications :: they text you with confirmation of your appointment :: they are very effective at their jobs :: they are licensed and insured, not some fly-by-night operation :: the fee charged for after-hours service is reasonable (less than $200) :: Mark/Marc (my plumber) was fantastic--very friendly, very effective at fixing the leak that happened with the line feeding into my tankless. He not only fixed the leak but improved the component that was the connector between tankless and water line so that it was a more secure, modern fitting. He also took time to explain things to me, which I always appreciate! :: they take credit cards :: they send you photos of the job with your receipt for good recordkeeping purposes The Bad: :: none The Ugly: :: none Would I use them again? Absolutely yes...they are now my go-to for emergency plumbing needs, hands down. Put these guys on speed dial in your phones so when something goes awry, you don't need to look for who to use--you'll have these guys ready to go! This place is IN.
I have previously recommended this company for providing good service. Unfortunately, my recent experience was less than ideal. I had requested their services for an urgent request to find a gas leak and restore service to the water tanks. Given the complexity of the situation (multifamily home/condominium, multiple impacted water heaters), I had sent all of the details of the project to back office with the expectation the plumber would arrive prepared and able to fix the issue on site. Unfortunately, this was not the case. He had come to the same conclusion as the previous plumber. He was not able to locate the true cause of the leak. Additionally, the notes were not reviewed or sent to the technician and seemed ill-prepared. So even if the leak was located, he would have likely needed to return with necessary equipment and supplies to finish the job. While I was not charged for the visit since no work was completed and diagnosis of issue was not certain. I definitely feel time was wasted for all parties involved. On a more positive note, back office was responsive. I do appreciate the ability to send out a technician the same day.
I called Plumb Doctors to get a second opinion on a big plumbing repair that another plumber told me was needed. Plumb Doctors' normal business appointments were booked for the next week so I agreed to the extra cost of an after-hours appointment and they came out the same day - in the evening. As he arrived, Marc called me to get the background info (I couldn't be there) then he went to work. He called back later with the news that he couldn't complete the job due to broken equipment. However, between the two of us, we had enough information to discuss the situation and make an educated plan of action that avoided the big repair the other plumber had recommended. Even with the broken equipment, I got exactly what I was hoping for: a professional second opinion that helped me manage the situation in a more reasonable way saving me time, money and inconvenience. I would have gladly paid for the service but to my surprise, Marc said there would be no charge because of the equipment issue. What more could I ask for? Five stars!
I recently discovered that my hot water tank was rusting on the outside, and I was probably days away from a catastrophic damage event, which would have surely cost me thousands of dollars if it had burst. I reached out to several plumbers via Yelp, and Andrew with Plumb Doctors was the first to respond. Andrew let me know that he could be there the same day. Mind you, it was getting late in the day, and Andrew was on a job in South Austin. Nevertheless, Andrew was true to his word, and kept me posted on his arrival time. He showed up at about 7:00 p.m., quickly assessed the situation, and called in reinforcements to get the job job quickly and efficiently. Andrew and his team quickly went to work, and had a new water tank installed, and working flawlessly in short order. This type of service is rare, and I commend Andrew and his team at Plumb Doctors. They have earned my future business.
Alex was amazing!! Our shower leak ended up requiring 3 visits because of parts we needed to order and an issue with the city water cutoff to our house, but Alex was very patient and responsive throughout the process. The visits were also accomplished in consecutive days. He made sure to leave us with a working shower between visits, foreseeing what may be necessary for the repair and not beginning the core of the repair until we had our other issues worked out. It was a complicated task with obstacles arising as more parts were removed from the shower, requiring a lot of specialized tools and knowledge. However, our bill in the end was just slightly higher than the original quote, he managed to fix everything without having to break our shower wall, and he explained what was going on throughout the process. We’ll definitely be calling again for future plumbing issues.
