Olin Plumbing came out to check on a leaking irrigation pipe. They were earlier than originally scheduled, professional, and fair. The plumber who came out (David) was knowlegeable and took time to help me understand the issue. I would definitely recommend Olin Plumbing.

Richard (plumber) did a great job. But the prices set by the owners/managers are ridiculous. $245 for a basic tub drain snaking. And another $255 to replace the drain cap. Gimme a break. $500 total (that's with a "$30 coupon"). Call Charles Hero instead for 1/2 price.

Highly disappointed in the lack of professionalism today. Judy left me a message at 10:05 that Mark was on his way. I called back at 10:20 to confirm, and she told me it was too late, that Mark had knocked on my door 45 minutes earlier. That's not true, because I was outside working. Asked if she would contact the tech and send him back. She said no. Most of the positive reviews are about a plumber named Joe (who was not dispatched to my call). Without him, one must wonder where this business would be. And by the way, I gave the owner, Derek, an opportunity to discuss my experience via telephone prior to posting this review. He instead relayed to me through Judy, who relayed through Sara, that he was not interested in doing business with me. Very disappointing, especially for a neighboring business.

We had a water heater break on Thanksgiving Day. We called one plumber who said they would call us the morning after, once they procured the replacement heater. They didn't call. When I called them, they said it would be at least Monday before they could get to it. So, I googled and found Olin. Olin answered right away, sent someone out to find out exactly what was needed and had a new tank arrive within an hour. In the meantime, Joe came out to remove the old tank. He was very knowledgable, polite and hard working. It wasn't an easy install given the tight fit but Joe made it work. He cleaned up once done and even repainted the yellow post that by code must be in front of the heater when it's in a garage. He also fixed a shower head that was unrelated to the water heater replacement. The fast, skilled work of Joe and the responsiveness of the Olin team is why I will use them for future plumbing work. UPDATED 11/26/18: Believe it or not, our other water heater started to go on this Thanksgiving weekend. (It still worked but there was a small amount of water dripping down the outside of the heater. As mentioned above, I would use Olin for future needs so we called them. As it wasn't an emergency, we had them come out the Monday morning after Thanksgiving. Doug (new to Olin) called around 8.30 am to let us know he was on his way. He arrived shortly after 9, determined the while the heater might be able to be fixed, it was beyond warranty and towards the end of it's useful life. We decided to replace. I'm glad we did make that decision. When Doug removed the old tank, you could see there was rust on the bottom. Who knows when it would have eventually given way. We told Doug that we need to leave the house but noon so if you do the new install in under 2.5 hours, go for it. Doug worked hard and fast. It wasn't the easiest replacement as it was in a 2nd floor closet. But Doug got it done, double checked everything AND cleaned up in under 2 hours. Well done! Thanks, Doug. 5/7/25 This was a simpler job, replacing an older, outdoor water main shutoff valve. Dave and Steven arrived when they said they would, did the job quickly but thoroughly. They were polite and there were no surprises. Can’t ask for more. 3/3/26 The tank installed on 11/26/18 (referenced above) started going bad (I could see rust along the bottom seam). It had been 7.5 years since it was install so it was out of warranty and at about the average life of a heater in an area with notoriously hard water. I called Olin on a Sunday. I told them it wasn't an emergency as we were still getting hot water but I didn't want to wait until it was completely shot before repairing / replacing it. They sent Jesus and Zeke out on Monday morning. We got a text message to let us know they were on their way. They arrived well within the specified window. After assessing the situation, the recommended it be replaced (not repaired). They had a comparable unit on the truck and could have done the full job there and then but we had to be out of the house in a few hours for a doctor's appointment. They drained the existing tank, disconnected it and brought the new one upstairs. They returned this morning to finish the job. There were no issues. Jesus and Zeke were efficient and professional. There was no loitering around, there was no mess - just got it done. They showed us how to perform the annual maintenance, made sure we had no more questions before cleaning up and going on their way. What more can we ask? They show up on time, they do the work well, they are polite, clean and efficient. That's why we keep using Olin.

I'll try to make this a brief as possible. I am out of nearly $1,000. and they deny that they had anything to do with an aftermath of leaks which followed a declogging event in the bathroom. The guy tore a chunk of wall behind the vanity sink and left a really nasty mess for me to clean. They alleged they fired him. Had another guy come out to inspect what the former employee had done..etc had him look at new leak in garage where washer is (i had tried to fix it myself & apparently did a good job because it stopped leaking just as he went to check it out). When he left, I found that I could not find my plumbing tape spool which i left on the washer....gave him the benefit of the doubt still cannot find it. Anyway, more issues developed and they sent yet another guy out. I found more leaks in the bathroom which never had occurred before. Now leaking behind that same wall.Had the spout replaced & was lead to believe this would resolve the leaking issue and was charged $195. It continued to leak as this plumber was leaving & immediately told him. His reply was border line nasty & said he stopped the leak from behind wall & not there to repair any add'l leaks. He had already left when I discovered that my new spout I purchased from Lowes was missing. They sent another plumber, Mike, who was the nicest of them all. He said All leaks were unrelated & that I needed a repair where the single handle on tub is for $285. Brought me a spout and I quickly pointed out it was not the one the other guy took without my permission. He had placed an inferior one instead in my tub. Long story short. They mailed me a check for it which was not signed so I had to drive all the way to Ybor City in a very nasty neighborhood (I am a petite woman) and have them sign it. Went and cashed it and hope it is good. The teller could not tell me for certain as they (olin) use a different bank. Never will I use these people again! What good is a warranty when you get this kind of service. Called a competitor who was prompt, clean and efficient. Spent another $300. to fix it.SHAME ON ALL OF YOU FOR TAKING ADVANTAGE OF 2 OLD WOMEN!

I recently received a wonderful letter from the City of Tampa. It was a harshly worded letter advising me that I had 14 days to have a "backflow test" performed and the results sent to them, or they'd begin fining me. I received the letter Saturday preceding Thanksgiving. Really?! I've got 14 days to test something I've never heard of, with the clock running as of Thanksgiving week, and I'll get fined if I don't comply. Anyway, a backflow device is something inserted into the water line on the customer (resident) side of a water meter to prevent water from flowing back into the system after it has gone through the meter. In my case, my lawn hose spigots and irrigation system are all isolated from the rest of the home via a backflow prevention valve. Unbeknownst to me, the City of Tampa requires you to have your backflow devices tested once per year. Of course no one does that, since no one I know had ever received this order either. In any case, ten years after buying my home, I received the letter to show proof of compliance with the annual testing. The letter included a list of 40 or so companies who can perform the test. Olin Plumbing was on the list, I visited their website, and unlike most plumbing companies, I could even order the testing via their site, for a flat rate of $25 if no repairs are needed. Their site advises that they donate any profits above the cost of the test to All Childrens Hospital in St Pete. I placed my order on a Sunday evening. Monday morning I had an email reply asking for me to scan and email a copy of the City's demand letter, which I did. They performed the test Wednesday, day before Thanksgiving, submitted the results to the City, and sent me a bill. So, hard to complain about that; easy ordering of the service, surprisingly rapid delivery of the service, they did all the work, I paid my $25 and got the City of Tampa off my back.

My family just purchased a home in the VM Ybor neighborhood and encountered a pretty bad plumbing problem. We contacted Olin after doing some research on local plumbing companies. Joe, one of their reps came out and assisted us. He seemed pleasant, diagnosed the problem, and began fixing it. After he left we were presented with numerous issues. First, we were not updated on status of the project. We had a huge hole in our front yard with no idea what was happening or when it was happening. We had to call for updates. Second, we were presented with an invoice which stated we had 30 days to pay. The work was completed end of day Tuesday 9/19. Yesterday, Wednesday the 20th, we received two calls from Olin demanding to collect payment. We missed the calls due to work and meetings. This morning, Thursday 9/21, Joe was standing at our property acting confrontational and using his demeanor to intimidate us for payment. He blocked our car in so we couldn't leave and started demanding to know why we hadn't paid, why we hadn't answered the two calls and demanded we provide payment immediately. The invoice isn't due until the 15th of October. We paid to get him to leave. I called and was connected with Judy who then connected me with a manager who apologized and offered nothing else. I am not a criminal, I pay my bills, so to be confronted by Joe this morning demanding money, blocking our car in, and attempting to intimidate is completely unprofessional and disgusting. I would have been inclined to leave a positive review had it not been for this. If you'd like to feel like a criminal being chased by a bounty hunter for not paying a bill that isn't due for almost another month, use Orlin.

Update as of April 2026. I have now used Olin plumbing at least six times in the six years ive owned my house. In addition to the first small jobs, they also installed a tankless hot water heater, a hard water treatment system and just today they repaired an outside spigot that was leaking inside the wall. From the small to the big jobs, I have really appreciated the technicians that have come out and worked with me. I thought the communication was good and the free estimate is a no pressure to understand what you’re looking at. Today Jesus was my technician. The outside spigot was leaking from inside the wall and coming out into my driveway. He presented me a couple different options and kept me updated as he opened the wall to look at the damage. Obviously something like this is never good, but I thought the price was fair and they did an excellent job minimizing the impact to the wall. Thank you, Jesus! Previous review: I have used Olin plumbing on two occasions for three different jobs. The first time was a small garbage disposal repair. The second time I had a malfunctioning shower - during that process the crew discovered I needed a hard water system as my reading was very high. The team did a great job in all three cases to explain what was going on, what my options were, and what it was going to cost. The repairs were done same day and the estimates were free to see what was going on. I also thought the ladies that answered the phone were super friendly and on top of it - for scheduling, letting me know the guys were on the way, and for billing. Thank you to Bob, Devon and Mark! I would be happy to use you guys again.

Very friendly and responsive plumbers who arrived at my home on time but produced terrible quality work that I ultimately ended up redoing myself. I asked for them to replace my exposed hot/cold water faucets as well as washer drain pipe and replace it with a recessed washer outlet box. The install should have been straight forward. I have 1/2" copper pipes that run parallel. The installation could have been done so many different ways but what they chose to do was shove my 1/2" pipes into what I'm guessing is a 3/4-1" faucet inlet and then did a terrible job at soldering them to keep them in place. They also unnecessarily cut and soldered my pipes in like 4 different places while soldering on repair sleeves for no good reason. On top of that the they burned the outlet box from the soldering work and the hot water valve was not level with the cold. They told me this happens all the time. The total cost of the work was supposed to be $1250. They gave me the option to take $250 off for the burned box or have them replace it and pay the full $1250. I took the discount went to the store and fixed it myself. I couldn't risk them doing that ridiculous soldering stuff anymore. Please see pictures. Overall I wish that I would have just had them install the drain pipe as that is all I really needed them to do. I don't feel as though I should have paid anything for the install of that box. It was literally leaking by the time they left and I had to call them back to fix it immediately after. I ended up throwing away $550 worth of their work and redoing it with higher quality materials for less than $100 and 20 minutes of my time.

Service was very unprofessional and over priced. I felt like the guy doing the work hated his job or just didn't care. I called because my main sewage drain was backing up periodically on the house built in 98. The plumber came and we inundated the system to cause the backup that was frequently plaguing us. He asked if I had a main relief valve out front. Since I'm not a plumber I said "I don't know" and then he informed me that in order for him to LOOK for a relief valve in my yard he would have to charge me $175. If he was unable to find one he would still charge me and then he would have to pull the toilet and go in that way AND pulling the toilet was an additional charge. After a interesting conversation I told him to go in through the toilet. I let him do his thing with the machine and he informs me that he "thinks" he got it. I asked if it would be visible he said no the machine didn't pull anything back so it must have been pushed through to the main sewer line in the street. All of this was done with him interacting with me by calling me "bud". I have a name and if you don't know it don't make up a random nickname. Oh yeah and the invoice I received had a previous customers information on it. It comes with a 1 year warranty even if the problem comes back I'll call a different plumber. All in all it cost me $400. Only positive thing was that the receptionist was nice and they came out within 2 hours of me calling them that's why I gave 2 stars!!!

I’ve had 2 other plumbers come out over the years and they’ve been ok. I didn’t want to use the last company because of the last person that was sent out so I saw the good reviews for Olin and gave them a call. First off they were up front cost. Second when Jesus came out and looked at it he gave me a price and I could have cried. It was way less than I thought it was going to be. My pipe outside the pvc glue gave out the night before and I called them in the morning since I know where the shut off is. I explained what happened and what I broke trying to save the pipe to Jesus who let me know he could replace what I had with something more sturdy replacing the line with copper and eliminating this strange connection I had. I didn’t know the spigot outside requires a code adapter piece on there now. While I thought there was a possibility I could fix what I had I knew I’d screw something up and called a professional. It was a smart move. I can’t express how comforting and reassuring Jesus was. He was confident about what could be done. He was so professional and made my outside connection look great instead of this big upside down U pvc monstrosity that was outside previously. Olin Plumbing was a life saver and I plan on calling them in the future for what issues will pop up. I’ll have my fingers crossed for Jesus again, but I have a feeling he’s not the only awesome plumber at Olin!

First I prefer family owned work over corporate business's when it comes to my home. I was searching for a good Water Heater deal and wanted to continue with a 50G Tank version (preferable Rheem). Olin Plumbing was great over the phone and gave me a "ball park estimate" after answering some simple questions. Their Technician Ramsey called me towards the end of my 4 hour window and showed up shortly after. He was able to confirm the quote, order the water heater and install all in the same day. I will advise that this is normally a two day process. One for the estimate, if you have anything other than an accessible first floor water heater, and the second for installation. Plan accordingly based on what they tell you. Olin will give you a 4 hr window for their technician to visit and while he was not there exactly during the window they did communicate well with me so I was not tied to the house. Ramsey did a great job and all my questions were answered effectively, and he did a great job with the install. He drained and removed my water heater, and installed the new one in under 2 hours. Very high quality work and would definitely recommend in the future. Plumbers are in high demand and there are not many high experience ones left in the industry so make sure you are working with the best. www.plumberstampa.com (813)443-5820 info@olinplumbinginc.com

DO NOT use this company unless you don't care about overpaying for a routine job. I had then come out to replace 2 shut off valves under the sink and also a simple drain line to the toilet. The valves cost $12 apiece and the line was $10 at Home Depot. Total time on the job was 20-25 minutes. They proceeded to charge me $245 for the first valve replacement then a "discounted" price of $125 for the second. I explained to the manager, Jennifer, that it was the same job and both valves were exactly the same. Was informed they were 2 different jobs and also that I was getting a "deal" with the discounted price for the second job. I then asked her to contact the owner, quite possibly her dad, to discuss further but the verdict was all prices are final and nonnegotiable. Paid almost $400 for lest than a half hours worth of work and $34 in parts. I should have known I was geting ripped off when they charged me $50 for the $10 line. I doubt I will ever use Olin again. Family base, locally owned companies don't take advantage of their local support.
