I have had great experiences with Oak Hill Plumbing, especially their service man Tom. Last year after our big freeze they were the only company I could find to come out and repair some outside faucets and had another great experience recently. They are very respectful and service and customer oriented.
We got high quality service from Oak Hill Plumbing on three different days, hanging a wall mounted sink, replacing our guest shower handles and replacing our leaky cut-off valve. Their prices are competitive and best of all, they came promptly, the same morning when we called them on three different days. Tom, David and Ismael were top-notch and explained everything, and Tom even offered some sage advice on some of my other home improvement projects.
These guys were fantastic! They responded immediately and were at my house 1st thing the next day within the time frame they gave and worked quickly and efficiently. Price was fair too! Oak Hill Plumbing will be our go to for ALL of our home’s plumbing needs. Thank y’all SO much!
I called this company for a small plumbing repair job. They came in and immediately said that they need to replace the fixture and quoted an outrageous price for it. When I declined it, they charged me the $89 service fee for a 2 minute consultation. I'm done with this company forever but you be the judge of whether that is fair.
Prices exceptionally high for a really small job.
Not the best choice for simple projects, but also read my updated comments below. I told them that I needed gas dryers hooked up at two houses located 2 miles apart. Was quoted $180 per hour and $69 service fee, which would be credited back if they did the work. They showed up on time and quickly hooked up the first dryer. They followed me to next location and hooked up second dryer. Total time for everything including the drive was exactly 30 minutes. Then they presented me with a bill for $300! Two dryers, 30 minutes $300. Unbelievable. I ask to speak to a manager, but the person that did the work was the owner. He said the bill should have been $360, but he was giving me a discount?! $180 minimum charge times two locations. I said that this was never explained to me and that $300 for 30 minutes work was outrageous. He said there was nothing he could do because that was his policy. The owner of the company actually told me that there was nothing he could do. Successful companies empower their employees to break policy when a unique situation arises. The owner of this company was not empowered to make this right. I don't expect them to ever be more than a small company. On the plus side, they worked quickly and seemed to do good work. Just be careful on what you have them do because it could be much more expensive than you expect and they won't make it right. I am glad this wasn't a much bigger project. I own six houses. I won't be calling them again. Update to my review 8/29/19. I received the $80 credit as promised, which made the total cost to install the two gas dryers in two locations $220. I appreciate that they made this adjustment and increased my rating from one star to three stars.
If there was less than 1 star this company would be perfect for a negative star rating. I will be filing a formal complaint with the BBB next. Long story but the jist is they are unethical and not very well versed with systems they sell and recommend. They are also liars. Paid $700 to provide and install a Taco hot link system. After multiple tries and excuses, I was told to call another plumbing company to fix what they did. Of course now they blame it on my scheduling, but that simply is not the case. They said they would refund the labor cost and they sent me a check for $150.00, that isn't even half of what they ripped me off for, the actual part cost $400 at best. Basically do not use this company. They burnt the valve by not disconnecting power to it when they shut off the water supply. They reused the old twisted supply line and wrapped the fitting with paper towels, evidently that's how they stop a leak. After they supposedly finished, and it was all good, they did not even check the valve, if they had, they would have noticed that it was red hot. Too hot to even touch. I paid double to get this relatively simple fix to help save water while waiting for the water to heat up. Radiant plumbing came in and swapped out the burnt valve and viola imagine that, it works just as it should. So, I ended up paying radiant $880 and Oak Hill plumbing $1000.00 for something oak Hill plumbing quoted me for $700. The check they sent me for $150 will be saved for the BBB and as a good lesson to me. Beware people, just because they may have been around for a long time does not mean squat. Do your research, and go with those who have many many good reviews.
I called these guys to do a service for me (I don’t see the point of writing all the details as it’s just going to be my word vs the owner who wasn’t even there) and basically this service was not provided. They came out, with their equipment, and gave it a 30-45min try and did not succeed. I read a bad review about these guys on Facebook so I made sure I was there to watch them work. After not being able to provide the service they quoted me for, they then asked for the $585 agreed upon amount. I said I didn’t feel comfortable paying that as they didn’t achieve what was set out, and they were only there for 45 minutes, spending most of their time cleaning their brand new equipment.. Their master plumber Grant then started to talk down to me, belittle me, and got quite ‘animated’ to say the least. Extremely unprofessional. And when I talked to the owner he wasn’t much better. His only response was that I agreed to the price and that they were going to run my card, regardless of what I wanted. I offered to meet him in the middle at $300 (because they at least came out and tried), and that I wasn’t comfortable with him running my card because the task wasn’t completed. Renee, the owner, flat out said he would be running it regardless of what I wanted. I’m sure if these guys show up and the job is simple, or there aren’t any ‘curveballs’ thrown their way, they might get the job done.. If there is an issue they will lie to you and charge the full amount. Good luck people reading this review!
I should have read the reviews before scheduling to have them give me an estimate on a new gas line installation. I reached out to Oak Hill Plumbing to have them give me a parts list to for installing a gas line to my new furnace and a stub for a second unit. I would also hire them to come back after i completed the work to inspect it. They agreed to $250 for the estimate only and could be out there after 3pm. I took off work early to meet them and around 4pm with no one arriving, I called their office. They now tell me they can't due to liability and that I would not even be able to buy the regulators without a plumbing license. I half heartedly believed them and asked them to come out and give me an estimate for the whole job the following day. I again took off work to meet them at 3pm, after calling to confirm they were going to show this time. The first thing the plumber told me after arriving onsite, ontime was that I would have to pay a $100 service fee for the visit. Once I agreed, he then proceeded to tell me I would have to replace the main line and to tie all the existing devices to it at $2170 per fixture!!!! If they would have given me that number before coming out, I would have laughed and hung up. So I'm out $100 that was not agreed to prior to them showing up. This is the worst experience I've ever had with a contractor and would never recommend them to anyone.
I am giving Robert of Oak Hill plumbing 1 star, not for the work he did, but because he flat out turned down a job we asked him to to. His reason? It was a bit more work than he wanted to get into. He also said "he's old", meaning he cant handle it at his age? The job was to move the vanity faucet piping from its current position in the wall over about 18" (we are expanding a shower towards the vanity, which required the vanity position to be moved). Also wanted him to cut the existing shower lines (already exposed as we did the demo) and cap them off at the floor level, and install new lines where the new shower valve will be after expansion. Too much work, he said. I understand a general handyman may not want to get into the complexities of plumbing work....but a "PLUMBER"? That is their specialty! He basically referred me to another plumber he used to work for what would probably do the job. So this plumber came out to give a recommendation of a real plumber. Save yourself time if you are doing anything that a handyman can't do. This plumber apparently doesn't have the drive for jobs requiring "plumbing" expertise.
My neighbor hired Oak Hill Plumbing to replace a bathroom sink shutoff valve, a service they provided just last week at a cost of $190. I needed a new shutoff valve for my kitchen sink, and I thought $190 sounded reasonable, so I called Oak Hill Plumbing to do the same for me and also install my new kitchen faucet while they were here. The guys arrived (one was the owner) and they quickly told me that the valve replacement would be $198 and the faucet install would be almost $400! I said, "actually, just do the valve replacement because I can replace the faucet myself". Then the owner says, "If you just do the valve replacement, then it will cost you $289." Huh?!?! What?!?! I told them they did the exact same thing for my neighbor last week for $190, so why the discrepancy? (No real response). Then I said, "this doesn't feel right to me and I'm not going to hire you to do anything." Then the owner says, "okay, well that's $89 for the service call". $90 for a 10 minute conversation that could have happened over the phone. This felt really sketchy and dishonest to me and I would in no way recommend hiring them.

I had a plumbing emergency on a Saturday. A leaking solder joint in the wall was flooding underneath the flooring. I needed a good plumber, and I really didn't have any room for a price war. I was in such a need that I didn't even ask "how much?" All the plumbers I called either weren't available or couldn't make it out until Sunday. Thankfully, I was referred to Robert of Oak Hill Plumbing through my neighborhood forum. It was his day off, but he was at my house within 30 minutes. With a little digging around, he found the leak and quickly fixed it. Not only that, be he quickly assessed a couple of other smaller non emergency issues we had and fixed them too. If Robert, I would have had to replace my entire floor. I had no idea how much this was going to cost. I was expecting $500-$800. I was very happy when it came out under $400. Robert is a super sweet guy, does great work, and is reasonably priced. I highly recommend him for your hopefully non emergency as well as emergency needs.
Not good. Had a *lot* of trouble getting a detailed work invoice, so we could file with the insurance company. Never really did. Bless Allstate for accepting the poor documentation OHP supplied. The entire experience was a $6200 nightmare. Owner, Rene is a Master Plumber and he seems like he knows his stuff, but he won't be the one doing the work, and he doesn't seem to oversee the work. The plumber onsite did not follow the plan Rene told us when he quoted the work. The guy spent days doing something else, including charging us $273/hr to drive to Home Depot for a hose because they don't carry supplies for the job they know they'll be doing that day, apparently. I asked him are you charging us $273/hr for driving to home Depot and he said "Yes. We charge the hourly plumbing rate for driving." Uh. Okay.
Our water heater stopped working the day we got a new roof and none of us (including the roofing guys) could figure out what was going on. The next morning, first thing, our roofer called Oak Hill Plumbing because he knows Rene, texted him photos and info, and they had a team (Tom & his helper) out at our house by 10am. It turns out our water heater had died (probably a coincidence with the roof replacement), so we needed a new one. Then Tom found that our overflow pressure pipe was capped in the wall somewhere - 1968 house, so who knows the story on that one, which was so dangerous - it could have caused an explosion, so he had to spend two more hours repiping that. They did a great job and we had hot water by 4:30pm.
