My kitchen sink was clogged for almost two days. I tried an extra strength clog remover, boiling water and plunging, but no drainage occurred. I called Mr. Rooter and spoke with Beau. He came over on time with his assistants. Within 15 minutes he had cleared my drains. I am thankful for his timely and excellent service. In addition to clearing my drains, he charged me much less than I was quoted. I hope I never need plumbing services again, but if I do I will be calling Beau at Mr. Rooter. Thanks again Beau!

Beau is truly exceptional. He always finds time in his schedule to show up as quickly as possible, no matter how busy he is. He’s helped us with multiple plumbing issues over the years, from our sewer pipe and main line to, most recently, an upstairs tub leak. Every time, he provides the most reasonable quote and delivers honest, fair service. I really appreciate that he takes the time to explain what’s going on and even gives us tips on what we can safely handle ourselves to keep costs down. It’s rare to find someone so trustworthy and reliable. We will continue to call Beau for any plumbing issues that come up. Highly recommend!

I used this Mr Rooter in April to fix a broken shower knob at a rental property. I was charged over $600 for the replacement which I thought was a high price. The technician was also not very customer service friendly. The same shower knob is now broken less than a year later and the company won’t stand behind their work asking me to pay again. There’s lots of good plumbing companies in Sacramento and this is not one of them.

My sewer line had backed up on Christmas Eve. I had called my sewer insurance but the service center was closed. I had to call an emergency plumber in the interim. This company was Mr. Rooter. Before assessing my line, this young man took note of my fruitless mulberry tree in the front yard and immediately told me I needed a new sewer line and that it would be $5800. Thirty minutes later, he allegedly scoped my line with a camera and said that tree roots had destroyed my piping so much that he was unable to snake the line for fear of ruining his $3000 cable. He said there was no way to repair it. I paid $179 for him to remove my overflow cap and tell me a bunch of lies. Mr. Rooter was prompt, for which I will give them 1 star. However, this technician recognized two female homeowners as an opportunity to take advantage by using fear tactics to create a sale. This is one sleazy company that I will never use again. The following morning, my insurance company dispatched America's Plumbing Company which further validated Mr. Rooter's lies. Marcus came out on Christmas Day and was very friendly and helpful. He snaked my line and then ran the camera. He called me out to view every inch of the pipe and there was absolutely no roots or breakage, in fact, he said it was the nicest looking sewer line he's seen in a while. The actual problem, it was discovered, is at the junction of the county line. He advised that I call the county and have them review the line for it's repair. Then he came into the house (after putting on shoe covers) and proceeded to check all the sinks, toilets, and showers to make sure all drains and pipes were functioning. He was very thorough, courteous and professional. It was nice to have honest service. I would highly recommended America's Plumbing Company for any plumbing needs. When using Mr. Rooter, buyer beware!

Was great after they went and install the third pump under warranty. The second time, but as off couple days ago it stop working with I didn't know until because I thought maybe the septic tank was full but when I called them they came out and said looks like ur sump is not working or pumping the water out to the distribution box. The guy was kind enough to even check it even though that was not there job and when he open it we both notice the pump wasn't working and water was filled up in the sump box. I ask him how come it stop working he said he doesn't know. He unplug the float n plug in just the pump to see if it was the float that was stuck but it still didn't work. He then said maybe no power so he went and grab his skil saw plug in and there was power. He then said he don't know why it doesn't work. He then went and proceed with the septic tank pumping and drained both tank. As he did the water from the sump box went down and then u can see the pipe that is connected to it and he unbolt it to take it out and see why it's not working. (Have all this on video). Because I was afraid they will tell me that it's not the pump. Occurs after he took it out he spun the bottom of the sump n the wheel was free spin nothing clogged. He used a screw driver n tap the housing a few times n then he plug it back in and it worked. And to remind u he did this with out even charging me. He said well looks like the pump is working now so he put it back into the box n bolt it up. But to the point I'm making is now because the pump had fail it cause backup into the house in the laundry room because we was doing laundry. In between this or during this time I had already contact mr rooter. He said he would be on his way to check it out, but during this time the pump was now working, but for how long and what if it goes out again. So am I paying once a year to keep replacing these bad pumps? Or instead of finding a solution or a way to fix having to deal with this they told me it's just a one time warranty work, why would it be one time where does it state in writing and none of this was disclosure to me after the fact when they came back out to install the third pump under warranty. Is when I was told one time warranty only. Why would I not get the same warranty work on this again I only paid them almost 3k to have this done for a second time in about 1-2 years cause the first time supposedly it was out of warranty but the pump wasn't it had a 3 year manufacture warranty on the pump. I was then charge for another full amount for the second pump. Wasn't happy but okay gave them the benefit of doubt. Until now it stop working. Now my house has back up and one line is clogged they said it's not there responsibility. Due to it was the pump. Wtf u mean? I sent the video and it clearly shows the pump not pump or working. I stated my case or issue the line has to be snaked because it cause a backup n the lines are clogged maybe not the main line but the laundry line cause the pipe is smaller so it is clogged. They wanted to charge me 270 to snake it I told them it's not even bout the money. I want it snake because it's ur pump that failed and cause a back up. How and why should I have to pay, it's a failure in ur system or work. If it wasn't that and the line is clogged because something else then yeah I don't mind paying. At this point I was very unhappy, because they wanted to charge me 270 and then said will give me a 20 dollars discount. Wow! It's not even the point I didn't say I couldn't afford it I'm not a person you guys can take advantage of. Your pump failed and it cause the back up. Now since the other septic tank guy came and didn't even charge me a dime to even take a look shot it to work, again for who knows how long. How u gonna tell me it's working what's the issue now it's not the pump. So where not gonna snake the line. Wtf! It clearly shows in the video I sent them. If you do use them please make sure you read everything couple of the workers the far one time around was unprofessional walked into the house with his dirty ass muddy shoes and cause the backup to flood the floor in my hail way. I had to rent a rug dr to sanitize the hallway. As far as being on time they was fast n on time ready to take your money only. Just make sure you get a couple of bids before you do any business with this company. Only one good employee he work with me but I know it's not his fault but still they know the issue was the pump. Please think twice before you do business with this company. Long story short If I can give this company a zero I would but had to give them 1, beside my other good review I gave them the second time when they put it in. Think twice get a couple of bids.

I used Mr. Rooter many times in my former residence (a home built in the 1960's). Because the home was in an established neighborhood (older homes, tall trees), with an older home can come issues. Mr. Rooter came out for small fixes (garbage disposal not working, bathtub running slow) and for the bigger ones (water heater replacement). The water heater cost more than I had planned one but this was not due to being ripped off by Mr. Rooter, again, it was the fact that it was a house that was nearly 50 years old. The service technicians were always polite, always arrived within the specified time frame and always provided a quote before starting on any work. However, Mr. Rooter explained up front why the costs were higher. First I had to do some retro fitting for the new water heater (in newer homes, the water heater is in the garage, in my old home, it was in the hall closet). I needed an overflow pipe installed that would run under the house to the drain unless I wanted wet carpet when/if the water heater fails. Having gone through that experience as a kid, the night the water heater failed and flooded the house, I had no issue with the fixes. Plus, when the time came to sell the house, it would have to be done anyway. The biggest problem was the main line. During the water heater replacement, they discovered that the main line was clogged by tree roots that had actually grown through the line. I was shown via snake camera the issue, but again, had no reason to doubt them. I had been having drainage issues for quite some time and my handyman couldn't figure it out (but it never occured to him that the main line was involved). So that was replaced to the tune of $5000. After that, even the "slow" bathtub drained quickly. I again called upon Mr. Rooter after my grandmother passed away and we had to sell her home. We had plumbing issues constantly while we were packing up her home (backed up sink, toilet, etc, but the house was 80+ years old). The home inspector discovered that the main line had collasped between the house and the street. We could not sell the house in that condition (not to mention all the other stuff grandma had "let go") and so Mr. Rooter came in and replaced the main line and fixed the plumbing.

I have never been prompted to write an outright negative review, but my experience with this company mirror's Mark's last month. My sink drain was slow and my landlord's 'handyman' actually managed to make it worse. I called Mr Rooter for a quote to cable (rotoroot) the pipe - they couldn't give one over the phone - a technician had to come out. The tech says I have to have the pipe cabled and then power washed - almost $500. I declined the powerwash and asked for them to simply cable the pipe ($187). After two hours the tech gave up, saying he couldn't clear the blockage, which was only a few feet down the pipe, where it T's with the vent pipe. He recommended cutting open the outside wall of the 100 year old home to access the pipe inside the wall. Estimate $687, plus the cost of another contractor putting the wall back afterwards. They still demanded the full fee of $155 (I found a $20 voucher on their website) even though they didn't clear the drain. Called another independant plumber - he quoted $125 and no charge if he can't clear the blockage. Just 22 minutes after he arrived, the blockage was cleared, the p-trap was re-installed and water was running down the drain! Hoorah for Armoured Plumbing and Drain Service of Roseville. The blockage was 50 feet down the pipe. The Mr Rooter tech never even got close to the blockage - he was stuck at the T with the vent pipe! In addition - Mr. Rooter Sacramento collect your credit card security number (CVV2) and write it on the invoice - anyone who sees or gets a copy of one of these invoices can charge to your credit card as if they have your card in their hand. No merchant is permitted to make and retain a written record of you CVV2 number (the 3 digits on the signature strip). Never let anyone record your CVV2 number! If I could give less than one star - this would be the one.

Plumbing experts or salesmen? I had to call a plumber for a clogged drain line and Mr. Rooter came to the rescue. I appreciated the quick response. What I did not appreciate is the incredible amount of upselling that this company trains its professional plumbers to do. My visiting Mr. Rooter plumber effectively cleared two lines (which I really only one needed to cleared) at a whopping $231.00 per line. I had to pay $450 or so to get my house back and draining. My point is that the whole while that the plumber is doing the video scoping and diagnosing he is telling me about this root and that root and the need to replace this pipe or do a "power wash". The first scare tactic, this has to be part of the company approved training program, is to terrify the homeowner with the prospect of full sewer line replacement at $6k plus ... OR ... as "maintenance" I could simply do a power wash which would clear out my sewer lines... and... since I am already spending $450 they could "give me a discount" on the $1,100 power wash cost and do the job for an additional $850. Where have all the ethical home maintenance trades gone? All I need was a line cleared and now I am looking at $450 and maybe as much a $1,200! Oh, I asked if I could see the complimentary video of my sewer line.. I could not even peek at his video screen and was told there is a video fee of $200 to $300 to see it. Common! Mr. Rooter!!! What line of business are you truly in? Plumbing or extortion ? Where can one find an honest plumber in Sacramento? If you are reading this and can recommend a good honest plumber please do so! I had two lines cleared and only one, the one in the house was guaranteed. I am keeping my receipt and will be sure to call Mr. Rooter to honor that job but that will be the extent of my interaction with this company. Buyer beware.

I had problems with both my bathroom toilets and tubes, water was overflowing when I flush. I call Mr. Rooter and a plumber was at my house in 20 minutes( that was a plus) but what happen after that is what I'm not too happy. He arrived at my place (South Sacramento ) . He asked me what was going to him about and he went around looking for a sewer clean out and couldn't find it so he shined hid flash light into my basement and said that there's sewer water all over in there and couldn't do anything until its all clean up " ONE OF YOUR SEWER PIPE IS BROKEN)" he said. He recommended a cleaned up specialist...giving no other options and I needed it fix I agree. The specialist came out within 30 minutes and crawled under my basement, examined, and gave me an estimate of $611 to do the clean up...once again I had no choice. I said go ahead. After the cleaned up he said " I don't think its sewer spill, looks like you got a small leaks from one of your fresh water line not the sewer line. ( Paid the guy for the service and call Mr Rooter again. He came back and I told him that he gave me wrong info and I paid $611 for nothing...he just laughed it off and said I thought it was sewer water... Anyway to make storing short. He came back and charge me $537 for his service which turn out to be a problem with the County pipe having roots build up in it. He walked away saying there's no warranty on my work today...it could happen again today or tomorrow and if we come out again we'll charge you the same price. DON'T USE THESE PEOPLE CALL IF YOU LIVE IN THE SACRAMENTO AREA CALL THEM FIRST THEY WILL COME OUT AND TELL YOU IF ITS YOUR PROPERTY PROBLEM OR THERE'S. I would not use them anymore. I feel like they ripped me off with their services also unprofessional, leave dirty latex gloves behind and dirt trail all over.

I had a very positive experience with the staff at Mr. Rooter with the exception of the initial technician. I had what turned out to be a pretty complex situation where my cleanout hardware was installed under my driveway giving me no access to it. A technician came out because both sides of my duplex were backed up and had typical plumbing related pleasantries overflowing the bathrooms. Because of a design mistake with our outer plumbing (cleanout) the technician needed to remove the commode to snake the line. Similar to earlier stories I read, the person didn't really want to get his hands dirty and was some rude and short, didn't want to explain things in depth and was looking for a way out of doing the job. The price kept increasing and he repeatedly suggested that we call another company. He left and we paid for the visit. He suggested we have someone else from Mr. Rooter come out to use a camera to determine the cause of the issue. Luckily John came out and he was the total opposite. Unlike the first technician he took his time to thoroughly explain the issue and the potential root causes. With him on the job was Jordan who was equally pleasant, personal and outgoing. His personality TOTALLY made up for the fact that he didn't shave that day. (jokes) I have never had a more pleasant experience with any repair team. Tammy who took my call was also very pleasant to deal with. With the exception of the first technician I find that Mr. Rooter's team is responsive, very fair with pricing and their membership is an awesome idea. Though I hope to not have any other plumbing issues I'm really glad that I have Mr. Rooter in my back pocket.

I feel a responsibilty to post this review for my fellow Yelp readers. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE. I had a blocked sewer line (real bad) I called Mr. Rooter, who sent out a "plumber" he could not find my line coming from the city to my house. I was told there will be no charge for them to come out and assess the situation and give me a quote. He couldnt find my line access and said it's probly inaccessable and it will cost 1200+ to have one put in...then had the nerve to charge me a $187.00 diagnostic fee. Called the next day and they apologized saying we shouldn't have been charged and they will send out a real Plumber with 10 years experience. So they did, he gave the same song, couldn't find it and it will be 1200+ to put an access in....I said I will need a second opinion for that amount of money (first when they thought they found the line, to clear it was almost $300). Then he wanted to know what I could afford like these people just throw numbers in the air to get you to bite, (I'm guessing commision?) I said "I need a second opinion, there has to be an access for it to pass code", they looked at me like I was crazy. Finally got him to leave after him trying to get us to pay this astronomical price. I then came to my senses and looked on Yelp. I found Joe at Stilwell plumbing in Elk Grove and he came right out and it took him literally 30 seconds to find the line (I'm not exaggerating). Cost me $100 and it's fixed. Now I don't know about you but that is a whole big deal of difference for my wallet. Be careful friends

Our kitchen and bathtub backed up on Thanksgiving (2011). I called Mr. Rooter and the plumber arrived before the appt. time. He tried to clean the drain pipes for $400 (excessive?) but it didn't clear the bathtub blockage. He went under the house and came back with a quote of $1382 to replace a blocked pipe. He had called in to his manager for a price quote telling him the job could take him all day. He was to arrive the next morning between 8am and 10am. He didn't arrive until noon. He worked 2 hours and took a 2 hour break for lunch and to pick up a 'cap' for the pipe. When he returned he finished the job in another 30 minutes. They still wanted $1382 for a job that took 2.5 hours! Their reasoning was that it COULD have taken all day and I needed to pay the agreed upon amount. I refused to pay $600 an hour for this job. After 2 calls to the manager (by the plumber) he agreed on a slightly lesser amount for the job. I believe the plumber did a good job so I'm not complaining about that. I would prefer to pay by the hour for this type of thing. They don't reveal an hourly price, they just bid the job. I know plumbers are very expensive and I should have gotten other quotes but we were stuck with no bathtub and no way to use the kitchen sink or dishwasher on a weekend. Bottom line: I would not use Mr. Rooter for any plumbing problems in the future. I felt ripped off and charged excessively for this job. Anyone know of a good plumber?

this place is very shady I had a person come to give me a est on hooking up a garbage disposal I knew what need to get done it would have taken me about 2-3 hours I figure 100 to 200 dollar would take a plumber maybe a hour well the guy arrived 45 minutes late and i was his first call he came in looked at the job went out to his truck came back in and gave me a 1100.00 est after I kicked him out of my house i called another plumber and he came on about a hour after i called and put it in for 160.00 .........In response to you It was you taking advantage of the public If I had no knowledge of plumbing your guy would have rip me off which I am sure if I would have had to pay the $1100 for one hour of work. To act like this is a mistake is really kinda brushing over a serious problem. looking at the other comments this is a pattern of how you do business take advantage until you get caught. Did you refund part of the person's money when they paid 1k for 2-3 hours work? I bet not businesses like your should be shut down I had a person named Tammy contact me stating that is was lying which is incorrect it was for the install of a GD and every I stated is correct maybe employee's should spend more time make sure their customer are not getting ripped off and not messaging people trying to get them to change the truth

I had a previous person clear the clog. If I had used Mr rooter for the job I would have saved 900 dollars. Then the same people said I had to replace my clean out and replace the pipe to the street. I didn’t believe them and called Mr Rooter who was there in less than an hour and I found out that they overcharged me for the clearing the pipe. Mr Rooter sent a camera down and Beau and Dave couldn’t find any problems. Beau and Dave are so knowledgeable and said he couldn’t find any serious problems and told me I didn’t need to fix anything. They didn’t charge me for the camera and they were very informed. Clearly Beau had done this a lot. They are great technicians, straight forward, very reasonable prices and very quick. I will never use any other plumbers. For the entire project they quoted me half the price and it would save me 13,000$ if I had done it with the first service….but Beau didn’t think it was ready. So Mr Rooter is reasonably priced, very informative, very polite and extremely honest. I highly recommend MR ROOTER for all your needs. Beau and Dave are the best. Hooray. Somebody that was honest in this day and age. Really these people are very honest and very good at what they do. Hire Mr Rooter they are the best
