Mack N Son’s helped us get through a winter of sewer damage. Christian was so helpful in guiding us through restoration and preparing us as we rebuild both bathrooms. He has even went through insurance. Thank you for all your company has supported us through. Make a big difference knowing you have our backs.
Josh did a great job installing a much-needed garbage disposal. He was prompt, pleasant and professional! Tidy, too! What more could you ask for in a plumber?! I'll be using Mackin for all my plumbing needs!
Mackin and Sons Plumbing was fantastic to work with. Kristian was great to work with and goes out of his way to help. They rushed to get our water running so we could move in on time, which meant a lot to us. Not only that, but they took the time to walk us through several water treatment options that fit both our needs and our budget. When we later ran into a plumbing issue that they hadn’t previously worked on, he didn’t hesitate to help and took the time to talk us through how to fix it without even having to coming out. The problem was resolved immediately. They are extremely professional, friendly, and very knowledgeable. We will absolutely be using Mackin and Sons again in the future and highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable plumbing solutions.
My rental water tank needed repaired, the parts were covered under warranty. Mackin & sons tried to charge me $1144 to fix the problem. ( plus 294$ to replace a toilet) = total $1434.00 I called the water tank manufacturer. They connected me with a reputable plumber. That bill was $146.( total 425 w/ toilet replacement) A 1000$ OVER CHARGE Mackin & sons are TOTAL scam artist. Maybe because Im a women?? I’m disgusted. Reporting them to the BBB next. BE WARE Follow up: Their response all lLIES! I went to pick up the warrantied part myself for the other plumber. The cost was $269 (which I will be reimbursed for) Mackin Sons responses states “ $469” - wait list? LIES See all photos
I've had them out twice to my house. The first time was to replace a shut off valve, which was done. The guy got the electric line too hot and blew a breaker and scorched the joist. After he left when the toilet was flushed it blew the line off in the tank ( I didn't know it would do that) so I called them back and had to pay for another service call to have a different guy tell me that's what happened. The second time I had them out to fix a supply line and when I mentioned the last visit (because of the "up sells") this guy said well, if you are unhappy with us you don't need to call us out anymore. Today I went down to the basement to get the number of the company that replaced my hot water tank and found that mackinandsons had put a sticker on the hot water tank OVER the sticker of the company that replaced it that also had a coupon on it. I think that is a very underhanded way to run a business and when I tried to call , the voice mailbox is full and no one answers the phone.
Cliff's Notes: If you need a plumber, don't hesitate to call Mackin & Sons! I made the unpleasant discovery a few months ago that the entire second floor of my house was plumbed with Polybutylene pipe. After reading horror stories about it suddenly rupturing, I decided to have the second floor replumbed as a preventative measure. Seriously, look at the picture. If your plumber ever tells you that you have PB pipe and should replace it, they're not joking or trying to fund an exotic vacation. I talked to several different plumbers but decided upon Mackin & Sons due to Kristian's professionalism, honesty, and the impression that I got that he knew what he was doing. He estimated that it would be a three-day job. Day 1: Kristian and Matthew came out to cut my drywall. Thankfully, the area that Kristian estimated that would be cut was incorrect, and the cutting that they had to do was minimal. When they found out that I was planning on staying in the house while they worked over the next few days, they cleaned up the drywall dust that day instead of waiting until the end. Matthew literally got down on his hands and knees to wipe my hardwood floors clean. I was blown away by that level of service and really appreciated it, considering I have a rambunctious 3-year-old daughter running around. Day 2: Matthew and his apprentices Logan and Alex were onsite for the whole day while they installed new fixtures for me and ran PEX. One of my tubs had a mangled copper connection pipe to it, and Matthew suggested that they'd have to leave a small piece of PB pipe and then connect PEX to it. When I asked him if I could run out and buy a new faucet for him to install and properly run PEX to it, he was more than happy to do that and charged me a reasonable amount to do so. Day 3: Matthew and Alex were onsite to finish up their work. The most important result, other than no longer having PB in my house, was that there were not any leaks. Once again, they impressed me by wiping everything down and mopping the floors to get rid of any last traces of drywall dust and sawdust. Other than the giant holes in my ceiling and upgraded tub/shower fixtures, I can't tell that they were here! :)
Mackin & Sons provided excellent service when my water heater failed. My phone call was answered immediately--no automated voice system, no need to leave a message. They got me on the schedule the first day I was available, removed the water heater and gave me a written estimate that included options to repair or replace. I chose replacement, for which they helped me secure financing. There were issues with my subfloor and surrounding area that needed to be addressed before the new water heater was installed. Mike worked with my insurance company and recommended a company to do the remediation work. Mindy in the office was always pleasant and helpful, as was everyone else I spoke with. Once the floor repairs were done, they were available right away for the installation. Josh and Ethan did a fantastic job fitting a 40-gallon water heater and drain pan into a small opening that previously held only a 30-gallon. They even managed to fit a thermal expansion tank into the limited space. They explained what they were doing without my even asking, and the questions I did have were answered patiently and knowledgeably. Turning the water back on caused my ancient faucet to give way, and Josh was able to repair it on the spot. The whole company was professional from start to finish, and it showed in the end result. I would recommend them anytime.
Before I say anything else, let me say… I’ve absolutely loved the work I’ve had done by Mackin and Son’s. It’s a daunting task, finding a home service or repairman you feel like you can actually trust. It feels like “plumber”, “HVAC repair”, or anything else like that is just another word for “overpriced and dishonest”. Well, as far as I can tell, Mike does business differently. I actually feel confident giving them my money because I know not only will they do good work, but they’ll stand behind their work too. My experience: they installed a tankless water heater for us. Big job. They had to run a new exhaust port though our basement ceiling. They finished, I looked at the job, said it was good, paid for it, that was it. Well, a few days later, we realized… we needed the exhaust re-routed. They came back out the next week and completely re-routed the exhaust for us at no charge. I’m sold. Mackin customer for life. We’ve had them back out for a number of smaller things since and they are always prompt, prepared, clean, polite, and professional. Specifically, I’ve worked with Anthony a number of times and he has always done fantastic work. There’s just a peace of mind knowing you can trust who you need to call if there was an emergency situation. I’ll be calling Mackin and Sons.
Excellent service & quality workmanship! I had a very small, slow leak on a kitchen sink faucet. I called based on a recommendation from our builder (not the same company that did our construction plumbing) and I was able to have someone out the next morning. I was given a text, with photo, who would show up. When he was running late due to a company meeting, I was given a call to let me know he was running behind (in the end, only by 10 minutes)when Anthony arrived, he was extremely professional! He was courteous, knowledgeable & clean (in appearance, wore shoe covers & left under the sink debris free) Anthony did not try to "up-sell" me in any other services, as many companies do in today's world. They don't do electrical, drywall cutting/repair or HVAC, although, they will definitely point you in the right direction if you need those additional services to complete your plumbing repair. I did suspect it was either the valve stem or the spray hose so I called Kohler for those parts ( free lifetime warranty) and had them ready to go which did save me some money in the end. Even if I hadn't & it was more of an "emergency " situation, I wasn't going to be gouged. Anthony was very upfront about pricing & it's not unreasonable.
My father-in-law had a new water heater installed by a different plumber about six weeks ago. Ever since then, all of the hot water taps in his house have sputtered excessive amounts of air when they are turned on. It was so noisy that it scared his dog! We tried calling the plumber who installed the heater to address the issue, but he stopped returning our calls. After trying a couple DIY solutions, we decided it was time to seek professional help. And professional is exactly what we got with Mackin & Sons. Mike and Anthony were polite, honest, and most of all, knowledgeable. They had seen issues like ours and knew exactly how to fix it. They were upfront about what we could expect. They were perfectly punctual - Mike answered my call on the second ring and Anthony showed up two minutes before the start of the service window. And most importantly, they fixed the issue fast. No one wants to spend more money on a brand new water heater. But after the unprofessional behavior of the previous plumber and living with disruptive water taps for weeks on end, it was almost a pleasure to pay Mackin & Sons their reasonable fee. We have every confidence in their work and highly recommend them.
I cannot explain how happy I am with our service from Mackin and Sons. After a bad experience with another company I reached out to probably 6 highly rated plumbing companies for help. There is a gentleman named Kristian who works for Mackin and Sons who originally took my call and answered all my questions. When I called back to get a quote I couldn’t remember where he worked and they sent out Anthony, and Kristian remembering my issue, came out as well. He is well experienced and quite the problem solver. There’s a clear difference between people who know what they are trained and people who understand what they are doing. I know going forward I will only work with Mackin and Sons and it is simply because of my experience with Kristian. Anthony was also knowledgeable and a hard worker and definitely someone I would trust with my plumbing needs. They worked so well together as a team. They were professional and polite. I specifically had a gas line worked on and that is not something I would trust just anyone to do. I feel Kristian has the experience, patience, and intelligence to make the right decisions when working on something this important.
We discovered we had an issue with our sewer line just before leaving for our vacation on 7/26/2025. Anthony came to our home and was able to determine we had a broken sewer line that was damaged by tree roots. Anthony and Mackin and Sons scheduled the repair to be taken care of while we were out of town by communicating their schedule with my father who was able to give them access to the house. My dad and neighbors were all impressed at how quickly Mackin and Sons was able to completely replace the sewer line (1 day). Anthony remained in contact with us while we were out of town and sent us the photos we needed of the broken lines to help us navigate this claim through our insurance company. We were able to get the pictures to our insurance company while we were in Virginia and had our check from the insurance company just after returning from our trip. Mackin and Sons did a great job! -The Blands Seville Ohio
We had a main water valve that was dripping and Mackin & Sons quoted a repair price of $800. The hot water tank was leaking over the overflow and they estimated about $3000 to repair that. Since I'm a mechanic engine engineer, I called Shorties Plumbing and Akron Ron Ohio and he replaced the main waterline for $200 and said that all the hot water tank a new pressure relief valve because our tenant had the water turned up super hot. That about $60. So instead of spending $3800 it cost me $260. I cannot recommend this company in Wadsworth. Such a discrepancy. I licensed plumbing company that I've used for 20 years and maybe he gave me a discount I don't know but the difference between $260 and 3800 is an awful lot. Thanks for listening. Have a good day. I don't expect this to be up very long.
Had a problem with a Moen roman tub faucet that Mackin installed a year ago. Since it was an expensive fixture I called them to see if they could take a look and they came out the next day to investigate. Turns out it was not a problem at all. The fixture handle had just worked it self loose and needed refastened. Anthony took care it and was on his way. Once again, fantastic customer service. Thank you! New UPDATE: Had Josh from Mackin and Sons out to install plumbing for 3 new sinks, install 2 toilets, fix a toilet, install tub faucet, 3 new shower heads over 2 visits. He did an amazing job and even fixed things we didn't originally ask to be fixed. Will definitely keep using this company. Thank you Josh for the great customer service!
I wrote this review a while back and it still accurately sums up my recent experiences and opinion of this company - I have used Macking & Sons Plumbing for many years now and have never, ever had a bad experience. In fact, I am constantly amazed that the bill is always lower than I expected and in this day and age, that says a mouthful. They always are able to schedule timely service and if happening to be running late, will call us to make sure a later time will be okay. I also like the way their servicemen clean up after they have finished. Thanks for many jobs done well and economical over the years. Kristian has helped me on many projects.
