Had a plumbing emergency due to a pipe breaking for the washer water supply line and thank you to local Rooter especially to Duy for taking the job on such short notice. Duy is very professional and knowledgeable on how he was able to repair and restore water service to our home. He even bought a new washer water supply hose when he found out we were going to replace our old appliance, much appreciated. In addition I have used their services several times to fix my parents plumbing problems as well and they always to a good job. Again thank you Duy.
In October, the hot water shower fixture got stuck I contacted Local Rooter and Plumbing for assistance. The valves in the hot and cold fixtures were replaced by Local Rooter and Plumbing in 2021 and the cold water fixture was tightened in 2024. Since this was the 3rd issue with the shower fixtures, Duy recommended converting the fixtures from 2 handle to single handle. During the conversion, Jaime found the plumbing was galvanized steel and recommended installing copper piping. A hole was cut in the wall behind the shower and the pipe was replaced. Wall patch, texturing, and painting was done once the job was completed. I also asked Duy for advice regarding replacing the gas hot water heater. Since the heater was 21 years old, Duy suggested replacing the hot water heater with another gas water heater after a discussion about converting to an all electric one. Duy is very responsive to emergency plumbing issues by scheduling an appointment within hours, all of my emergencies happened on a weekend. He explains the problem and repairs required well. I also had him replace the original plumbing under the house in 2021. I highly recommend this company.
This is the second time we have used Duy, and we wouldn't use any other company. We had a water main leak. Duy was extremely responsive, very helpful and reasonable.
Their van driver honked at me on the road when I changed lanes and kept enough distance with him. Very effective way to drive awareness but I will definitely stay away from them... Additional info after reading owner's comments: It's in Berryessa at around 11:50am today. Don't know how many different vans you have but hope the info above helps.
Our water softener broke and released 20 pounds of orange crap into our entire water system, so no water anywhere in the house, and everything needed flushing out or replacing. Initial impression with Local Rooter was very good because he came on the weekend, figured out the problem, and was nice and responsive. But then it got weird. He came a few times and each visit cost between $1,000-$2,000, but he never gave me receipts. He fixed 3 toilets, but one stopped working a week later. He wasn't able to get the shower heads off to fix these, so he told me to buy replacement shower kits myself to save money, along with one more part that was back-ordered everywhere. In the end we paid ~$4,000 for ~10-14 total hours of labor and some cheap parts, and we didn't have a working shower in the house for 7 weeks while waiting for the magic part. After asking 5 times finally got a bill, but it was more of a laundry list with no rhyme or reason to the amount. Called another plumber who noticed the back-ordered part was in the box with the complete shower kit all along, told us one shower kit was wrong, and noticed that because Local Rooter manhandled the aerator in the kitchen faucet (vs. using a $1 part every plumber should have), damaged it so our water doesn't flow smoothly. Within 3 visits he was able to get the showers fixed and new parts installed, fix the one toilet, but after going to Ace and Home Depot, couldn't replace the damaged aerator because it's atypical, so we'll have a permanent reminder of Local Rooter every time we do dishes. The new plumber's bill: $1,000.
It was nearly 11pm on Thursday night after my partner's shower when we couldn't turn the shower off. I pulled apart the faucet hoping to find a way to turn off the water from within the fixture, but no go. It was then that we realized we needed a plumber. I hopped on Yelp to see who could come out first on Friday morning. A few people responded, but Duy didn't just respond with a time and quote. He said to send him a text and some more details, so I sent him a photo of my disassembled shower faucet and my request. He said that he would come out between 9-10am because I had a lunchtime meeting. I followed up with a quote request, and he came in at $100 less than the previous quote. Done! Friday morning, he messaged me just before 8:45am to let me know he was on his way. He had a mask on when he came to the door and put booties on his shoes before he came in. Then, he asked some questions, listened to my explanation and concerns, and assured me that it should be a 30 minute job and that my fiddling with the failed cartridge would not be a problem.* Well, there was some significant grunting and banging as he strained to get the old one out, but he finally managed it. We were able to turn water back on, a necessity during this pandemic, and had a running shower that also turned off again by the time he was done. *Now, I have to say that he did mention the shower's water pressure was not very good, and when I turned on the shower for the first time, I did notice that all the way to hot yields less water flow. However, I was still able to wash my thick hair and rinse it without a bunch of extra time, even though the handle wasn't on full hot. Still, the shower runs and in roughly 20-30 minutes. I then asked him for his opinion on our two toilets: one doesn't flush without help (a bucket of water and sometimes plunging too), and the other sounds like it's running randomly even when no one has been in that bathroom recently. In both cases, he told me it was our hard water that was causing the problem. He said the same of the old cartridge for the shower and even pointed to my shower head to demonstrate. I had seen it myself the night before and was fully aware. After looking at the second toilet, what he said next was what sold me on him. He said that plumbers make most of their money on installing parts; also, he explained that it was good for him, but not good for me since I would be doing it again in a couple years. Ultimately, he stated that if I didn't invest in a water softener, then I would just continue to throw my money away every few years. I asked him what kind he recommended, and he told me how to get more out of my appliances until I replace them, one with salt would be easier to maintain and do a better job over time. Additionally, he looked at my washer and explained the gurgling sound I kept hearing was because my drain pipe isn't standard, so it fills higher and more than it should. Finally, he looked at the caulking coming out of 20% of my kitchen sink and advised me not only on what kind of caulking to use but also explained step-by-step what I should do to do it myself if I didn't want to wait for him to come back another day. He didn't have to look at either toilet, advise me on explain my washer's noise, nor how to do my own kitchen sink repair, but he did, and at NO EXTRA CHARGE!?!? Folks, this is an honest man! Ask for Duy. You will be happy you did!
If you're scanning reviews, then the bottom-line is that Local Rooter & Plumbing arrived quickly - and they did a great job getting my main sewer line open quickly. After taking a shower, my son says, "Hey Dad...the water is not draining in the shower". Oh great. I immediately checked the tub on the other side of the wall, and it had several inches of water in it, too. I responded to my son to not flush a toilet. Initially, I called a rooter company I had used two years ago - and had liked. But, they were booked until Thursday. Since it was Tuesday, waiting was a non-starter. I checked for another rooter service and came across Local Rooter & Plumbing. I liked seeing all of the positive Yelp reviews, so I called them. They picked up the phone and had someone to my house within about 60-90 minutes. The first guy did not have the right equipment (possibly because on the initial call I mentioned the standing water in the tub - and them possibly thinking a smaller snake was all that was needed). The service tech on-site called another service tech (Johnny) who showed up within minutes. Within moments, Johnny knew just what to do. Instead of a tradition heavy-duty powered snake, he broke out a high-pressure water-jet set-up that made quick work of clearing-out the main sewer line. In addition, I happen to also have a clogged-up underground corrugated hose that had been set-up to take the rain water from a downspout and deliver it to the sidewalk area. It must have gotten clogged-up by all of the particles from the roof tiles - maybe some leaves. It's been clogged for 2-3 years, and it's been a watery mess next to the porch when it rains. Johnny attacked it from both ends with the water jet, and he got it completely cleared-out. Icing on the cake! Johnny was professional and personable the whole time. The cost was reasonable for what I asked them to do. I recommend Local Rooter & Plumbing - and I will likely call Johnny back in the future should my main sewer line (or underground downspout line) get clogged again.
Duy is a LIFESAVER!!!!!! I am a new homeowner, so everything can easily seem catastrophic and major, and my situation was no exception. Sat night I was gone for all of 3 hours and came home to a flooded bathroom floor. After sopping up all the water, I see that the water is leaking in under the floor behind my toilet. I didn't know what to do, I panicked. I went to yelp to find an emergency 24 hour plumber (it was nearly 11 pm at this point). Duy answered (THANK GOD, because most 24/7 advertised companies didn't) and was at my condo within a half hour. He was so nice and so patient and kept telling me, everything will be fine, don't you worry! Duey showed me how to shut off the main water line to my condo, and promised to return in the morning to further diagnose the issue. He also suggested I contact a restoration company ASAP to start the process of removing the moisture from the wall to avoid any future damage. I was having some difficulty making contact with the restoration company and Duey was texting with me until nearly 1 o clock in the morning until we got everything sorted out and promised to come at 9 am on Sunday. Sunday Duy shows up and HE BOUGHT ME TOWELS!!!! Who does that!? How nice is that?! He noticed I used up all my towels the night before drying up all the water, and stopped at home depot and brought me an entire pack of them. After turning the water back on and seeing the leak was no longer an issue, we concluded there was no need to bust the wall open and check my pipes (later on we found out the issue was that my neighbor behind me flooded their bathroom and it seeped under the floor into my unit). From here on out, Local Rooter and Plumbing is my absolute go to for anything water or piping related. The service and comfort I received during an incredibly stressful moment is something I'll never forget. THANK YOU DUY!
My wife and I were looking to re-pipe our whole house. After contacting numerous contractors, we selected Local Rooter & Plumbing. When Duy visited our house, it was like a good friend was informing us on what work needed to be done. Duy provided us with a very fair estimate and the length of completion was supposed to take 3-4 days. Duy and his team are very professional and worked very fast to get the job done right. I was glad that at the end of the day, his team properly cleaned up and allowed us always one restroom to use so we can get ready for work the next day. After the job was complete, Duy inspected the work that his crew did. He even inspected the brand new 50 gallon hot water heater that they installed. Thanks again for that Duy. Duy is very easy to communicate and get a hold of. Anytime I had any questions, he was always there to answer my questions. A couple days after the job was complete, I heard a strange sound after flushing our upstairs middle restroom. I contacted Duy and he dispatched 2 of his guys to check out the problem. After flushing the toilet, they were able to easily diagnose the issue. The copper pipes wasn't the problem, it was a old plastic piece in our toilets reservoir. Hoang replaced the piece in a matter of minutes. After flushing the toilet, we no longer heard that strange sound. Thanks again Hoang for quickly identifying the issue and fixing it. Local Rooter & Plumbing will now be my go to plumber. I will be recommending them to all of my friends and family. Duy and his team are very easy to work with and know what they are doing. If you are in the market for repiping your whole house or need a plumber, I highly vouch for Duy and his team from Local Rooter & Plumbing.
It's been a while since i've written a review but I will certainly take the time to do so when the quality of work is as impressive as the professionalism and all the other great qualities you can hope for with a service provider. One of the valves in our bathroom sink cracked and water started to leak everywhere so I had to shut the water off to the house. Luckily for us this was at the end of the day but also unlucky as most businesses were closed and this wasn't exactly an "emergency". I spoke with Duy and he set the first available appt with me next day @ 8am. He messaged while on the way and arrived perfectly on time. The sad part of the story is we had the EXACT same valve leak on us just 3 yrs ago and had another company come out to fix. Here's what set him apart from other contractors i've dealt with. 1. Super responsive 2. Punctual 3. Parked his vehicle on the street when I had a wide open driveway (he did this out of courtesy when EVERY contractor always assumes to park on the driveway with leaking oil, etc.). 4. Provided quote up front with no gimmicks/bait & switch and very reasonable for the work being performed. 5. He immediately put on booties before stepping into the house!!!! Some may assume this is standard practice but I can assure you it's NOT- as we have invested in booties to provide for contractors that don't bring with them. 6. He made a quick diagnosis of the issue and also explained the exact steps to resolution. 7. He gave SOLID advice on things to do around the house when it comes to plumbing. Thank you YELP for helping me to find Local Rooter & Plumbing as they will be our sole "go to" for all things plumbing related. A+++
These guys are simply amazing. Johnny was the technician that helped me and I could not ask for better service or quality. I highly recommend contacting these folks for any plumbing needs - big or small. I specifically had Johnny come out to take a look at a shower diverter valve that I managed to totally destroy by "fixing" it myself. I broke the entire thing apart inside the wall. The communication leading up to the appointment was excellent. I was sent text messages confirming the date and time and Johnny was very punctual. He took a look and let me know that he would do his best to fix my mess, but if he could not fix it he would not charge me. That was way MORE than fair as far as I was concerned. I would have paid for his expertise and time even if my mess-up could not be quickly resolved. Ultimately, I did damage the valve beyond quick repair and as promised he stated he was not going to charge for his time. He gave me a quote to come back and replace the entire valve which required cutting into the wall opposite my shower. He also instructed me to go and purchase a new faucet at a local store so that I had one that I liked. One week later he came back and again the communication was excellent and Johnny was right on time. He was very efficient and his workmanship was top notch. Not only did he completely replace the diverter valve, but he also installed the tub faucet and shower head. That was not at all expected and was an excellent bonus! The price was excellent, the service and professionalism were top notch. I will be calling these guys for ALL of my future needs and referring as much as possible.
We had a kitchen sink that would not drain. Duy immediately picked up my call last night and advised that they had calls lined up for the next several hours and could not make it out to our home until around 1pm the next day. I provided my contact information and address. Just to follow up the next morning, I texted Duy to re-confirm the time. Again, he was responsive and I did not have to wait long for a reply. He advised he will send Jaime out and will arrive around 1:20. Jaime showed up on time with a mask on and with disposable shoe covers. He tested the other water sources near the kitchen to make sure the problem was not systemic. Luckily, it was isolated to the kitchen sink. Jaime brought in the drain snake tool in and found that there was a blockage well past the u-pipe under the sink. He used the tool twice to clear the blockages and ran it around 30 feet. Problem solved! No more blockage at the kitchen sink and the water now drains. Jaime provided me with a tip to pour some baking soda and vinegar down the drain once a week and to chase it with hot water to prevent grease from building up on the walls of the pipes and to be sure to use the strainer to prevent big chunks of food from going into the pipes. This company does not charge an hourly rate! We only paid a flat fee that Duy quoted us the previous night and the fee did not change when we made the payment after the work was completed! I would HIGHLY recommend Local Rooter & Plumbing for any emergency plumbing needs! Thanks Duy and Jaime!
First off, this company has a SOLE contractors license. Meaning only the owner of the business is qualified and insured to work on the pipes. The operation they are running is completely illegal. I found all of this out after a multitude of headaches and thousands of dollars in damages later. I called them in a very bad position because they had great yelp reviews. The guy was super friendly and it was late; around 6:30 in the evening. Our main line was clogged and needed to be cleared before morning. Tony came out within an hour, made it seem like it was no big deal to unclog it. WRONG. While snaking the line he BROKE THE LINE; causing raw sewage to spew all over my hallway and proceeded to act like it was not his doing. Furniture wa destroyed along with valuable possessions. The bottom of the pipe he was snaking had a HUGE gash in it (18"-22" maybe, I didn't get too close to it. He blamed it on the pipes being old. He then called his friend who had a profession cleaning business. Long story short, he charged me for it all. Over $3000 in damages that he was at fault for. It was appalling, unprofessional and illegal. Do your homework. Don't get stuck in the position in I'm. Best part? The line wasn't even unclogged. We had to call Roto-Rooter a week later.
Came 1 hr late than promised. Sent the pics clearly showing copper plumbing connected to galvanized and got the quote. The original quote was not honored w an excuse a brass nipple needed to be added and the quote did not include it without giving a new number. Irresponsible! Tried to upsell a regulator at $600 w $300 part cost (I checked and it does not cost more than $100). I am adding more after seeing owner's response. First of all, the additional work he talked about was conversion btw galvanized and copper. The person who came did not even talk about dielectric nipple but said the quote was for direct connection btw copper and galvanized. Excuse me? The owner later called and said he had intended the dielectric. I was not asking for an additional scope but a necessity. I said BS TO MYSELF AFTER he turned his back around. Again a complete lie that he had to leave due to my foul language. Be careful w these folks. BTW, another plumber came and fixed the valve within 30 mins and quoted $150 less for the same scope of work ($450 for complete section change but w brass nipples). You can again see these guys do not communicate all possible options, charge more, and are only interested in upselling things.
Leaving this review for Jaime. We unfortunately had a clogged line and everything backed up. Literally everything! Jaime initially came on a weekend and cleared the line but unfortunately there were other previous issues that caused a back up again. He came back the day before Thanksgiving and it was later in the evening. Each time Jaime was very professional, knowledgeable, communicative, and kind. He was very respectful of the property and being as quiet as he could and efficient. I mentioned the quiet part because we have a baby and dog in the home. Our baby was sleeping/napping both times Jaime came but she never woke from any noises. Similar to what another reviewer wrote, they clean up after themselves. I was around after the first initial visit and I could hear Jaime cleaning up thoroughly and rinsing things down. I appreciate that more than anything. That's service!! It was a clogged line and back up from toilet and sinks and other gross stuff coming up and just sat there but Jaime took care of and cleaned it up and after as just a professional and kind person. Really appreciate the quick and efficient service and kindness especially when we have an infant at home!
