We had a broken pipe under our basement floor. Technicians arrived on Monday morning, thoroughly diagnosed the issues and provided a detailed estimate. On Thursday, only three days later, the technicians arrived on time and, by the end of the day, the problem was fixed.Throughout that day they kept me informed, both warning me of potential problems (it's an old house) and calming me with their breadth of experience and professionalism. My wife and I are extremely satisfied with Intelligent Service.
I would like to give a top rating for the excellent work done by Intelligent Service. Jason deserves special recognition for outstanding leadership, great team coordination, and smooth communication throughout the entire process. Everything was well organized and handled efficiently. Also, I want to personally commend Trevor for a job very well done — professional, reliable, and detail-oriented. Overall, a fantastic experience with a great team. Highly recommended 👌 💫💫💫💫💫
We've been using Intelligent for years, and they always do a great job! Fast service, friendly & knowledgeable technicians, highly qualified, and outstanding communication. When our heater went out today, they were out the same day. Can't recommend them highly enough!
wanted to charge to come on out and look at a job to give an estimate. Move on to the next guy there's plenty of free estimates out there.
Hi. This message is in relation to the one titled Ron B.s. (for some reason I couldn't use the specific message to reply to.) So, thank you for your response. And desire to make this better. However? The problem with software is that you have to be shown the screen and it should be reviewed. Didn't happen. As I stated above, the serviceman told me that "that he would rebuild mine as I didn't need a whole new one. That's not me making a cheaper decision. That's me listening to what I hoped was a professional opinion. All that said, let's not go back and forth. It's the holidays. And I'd like to end these things that cause us all stress. I would appreciate the credit. Please have a nice holiday. Ron
I previously used Intelligent Service for a clogged kitchen sink which they fixed the next day by unclogging the sink with a snake drain and although the price was a little high (~$500) I appreciated the quick and effective job they did. However, when coming back as a returning customer with another job they were very unprofessional and negligent. I requested an estimate for a shower drain that was clogged and a leaky faucet fix which a technician came on a Thursday to give me. He also recommended a free sewer inspection which I opted in for the same day. I agreed to a same day inspection later that afternoon and was also told the same technician would be back to complete the shower drain issue. However, later that afternoon only the inspector came and after he left he told me he would have the technician reach by out because he was unsure why no one came. That night I discovered the inspector had turned my sump pump off during the inspection and not plugged it back in resulting in the sump pump overflowing throughout the basement floor and onto some carpet as well. Thankfully I caught the issue within the hour and spent 1.5 hours (at 10pm on a Thursday) cleaning up the mess to ensure the water didn’t sit and cause any further damage. The next morning I called Intelligent Service and they were quick to come out with a few fans to help dry out the area and inspect to make sure there was no major damage. However, after the initial fix I requested a discount for the negligence and asked again to have the technician to come out and do the work. A manager came by Monday to inspect the damage once again and told me he would speak with his supervisor before reaching out with a resolution. Seemingly very apologetic of the accident after this meeting I spent the remainder of the week calling the front desk multiple times a day to receive an update and was completely ghosted by the manager. They claimed he was out of the office or in meetings each time I called and claimed to leave notes for him to call me back but he never did. Finally, on Friday the next week I just asked for any other manager to provide me with an update because I needed the leaky faucet and shower drain fixed and I was told by the receptionist that they wouldn’t be able to do anything for me about the accident and recommended I file a claim with my insurance. Which they knew wouldn’t stick because of how little damage there was because I caught it early and spent a lot of time mitigating the damage. I would not recommend this company to anyone because any other plumbing service can do a good job when they are being paid well but this company proved that it cares little for its customers and isn’t willing to take accountability for their mistakes.
We had our hot water heater go out. We picked Intelligent because they had working hours on the weekends and didn’t charge extra for weekend hours. Trevor came out to look at the issue with the hot water heater. I personally thought it was the Thermopile, so I ran to hardware store replaced and issue still existed. Trevor diagnosed it with a bad gas valve and said he can replace the heater part for $850 or he’d recommend a brand new water heater. He said if he replaces the part, he will most likely need a brand new water heater anyway in the next few months to at least a year. He then went on to look at the boiler, which was about 40 years old. Now keep in mind this boiler does work, and I was not planning to have any service on it whatsoever. Over the years when I’ve had the maintenance guys over to look at the boiler all companies would not even touch it scared that they were going to break it even more and then have to owe me a brand new boiler. He then went on to say he could give us a deal. We can kind of throw in a hot water heater. If you get a new boiler, we can install it this week. So we thought about it a little bit more and we wanted to go ahead and do it because not only the savings but what if the boiler went out in the middle of winner then we’re going to pay extra charges for the winner cause they’re gonna be busy and it’s probably Probably gonna be more expensive. So we went on to replace the boiler and the hot water heater hot water heater heater was replaced that day which was perfect. It took about an hour and a half. He then said someone from Intelligent would call me to set up the install of the new boiler. Two guys came out to install the new boiler and they brought another guy Neal who helped me I’ll walk through the process of what’s gonna happen and what they’re gonna install what they’re going to leave in place Place and not touched due to the fact that I made damage didn’t even more. Install took about 78 hours they did not have to come back the next day except to change out the thermostat just because that was kind of them. We had a small issue with the damper, but luckily they replaced that within the next day or two and now going on 24 hours to 48 without any issues. Overall, I was very happy with their service very happy with their service service man. They were very polite and they explained what they were doing. They were in and out. They kept the place clean so I was very Happy with them overall.
Intelligent Service Plumbing was recently at my house for a drainage issue. When I called, they (as well as two other plumbing companies) refused to provide me with a basic quote over the phone - a service call and unclogging a shower drain. I was told that one of their techs would come to my home, access the situation, and provide a quote free of charge at that time. The tech arrived on time and was very accommodating. The problem was assessed and I was presented with a quote of $382.57! Needless to say, I was extremely shocked. Not wanting to go through the whole process again of looking for another plumber, and feeling a bit pressured, I begrudgingly went ahead and signed to have the work done. The tech was at my house approximately thirty minutes, with the actual rodding out taking only fifteen. I had a coupon but the bill was still an outrageous $357.37! They will tell you they're a premium company, fully insured, hi-tech using the best equipment, most qualified plumbers on staff, etc, etc, etc. However, they don't work on an hourly basis, but on a pre-determined fixed cost depending on the problem. It became very obvious to me why they won't quote over the phone. They want to get the plumber at your house right in front of you, which to me is a compromising position to be in. It's harder to say no to a quote over the phone than to say no with the plumber standing right in front of you. You want the job done, and you're at a disadvantage as still having a plumbing issue. The tech is holding all the cards. The whole process is very sly and calculated to what I call taking unfair advantage of the customer. A month later, I had another unrelated drain problem. This time I called Green Tech in Park Ridge. The owner answered the phone, was very professional, and after going over the problem with him, he quoted $218.00. The tech arrived on time, also very professional, unclogged the drain and presented a bill for $218.00. Like the tech from Intelligent, he was at my home for thirty minutes with half the time rodding out the drain. Do the math, same job, same time frame, and both very qualified and highly rated companies. Big difference is that one does the work at a fair quoted price, the other an unfair quoted price. Beware of and stay away from this outfit and any plumbing company that won't provide an estimate or quote over the phone. They DO NOT have your best financial interests in mind.
There is no doubt in my mind that Intelligent Plumbing is a good plumber! However, in my case, integrity is also required in order to be considered a good business! I am shocked by the Cavalier attitude expressed in their final email to me. Not even an apology was given me since Mel did come out to my house, wasted my time, talked with Jason and assured me that the job would be handled by Intelligent Plumbing. A Proposal and numerous emails followed and dates and times were established. I agreed to having Intelligent Plumbing remodel the bathroom before even knowing what they would charge since I had work satisfactorily done by them previously! The dismissive attitude of an oral agreement. a proposal, and repeated emails that would be respected and honored by most fair businesses was repulsive to an American such as myself who dislikes the fact that money talks. I do not see how a promise to me to do business could not somehow be accommodated! While they are great plumbers; integrity is not their strong suit1 BTW, they need to return to me the $39.00, for the proposal, that they took from me, under false pretenses. . This is the email they sent me that reneged on their promise to do the work! This was received coincidentally just after I asked them for their license, proof of insurance and workmen's compensation and written indication that the project would take no longer than three days (as orally promised) and that the water would only be turned off in the applicable bathroom so that we could continue to live in our home (as promised!): "Late yesterday afternoon we got news that we were awarded a large contract for a Dialysis Clinic. A contract like this is huge for a small family run business like us. With that said, we are not going to be able to move forward with the proposal for your home due to the time frame starting at the clinic." - Intelligent Plumbing. BTW, the proposal that they gave me came to JUST $7,000! Also, they knew that i am recovering from a broken hip and need a shower and toilet that is ADA accessible SAP since i cannot yet get into the bathtub in the other bathroom. NOW, I must continue my quest for a good plumber with integrity! Rita Brunn Palatine
It is very difficult to give a rating as there needs to be different rating categories. Below are my ratings: 1. 5 STARS -Due to water slowly coming out under water heater, I felt that I better change out water heaters quickly and not wait for a flood. I called at 5:00 PM on a weekday, and Intelligent Plumbing was the fastest to respond, having 2 trucks, not just one. Very quick, polite, great communication within the company. 2. 2 STARS - Water heater installed had a dent on the top. I work at home and was thinking everything was fine, and did not know a dented water heater was being installed. (Dent was fairly large.) No mention was made, even when I came downstairs and looked at it with the plumber standing near me. Glitches are best tackled up front. Trust gets lost when this does not happen, or the issue is minimized. 3. 4-5 STARS - I did not want a new obviously dented water heater at a high price. Was only offered $100 off for the dent. So I asked for replacement, and was going to pay only a percentage of the bill. However, they had me pay nothing at all, and came out a couple days later to give me a water heater in perfect condition. That was a great way to do things. 3. 3 STARS - Pricing. This is a high service company, so they are not inexpensive. For a water heater install, it was overkill to call them. But if there is a complicated project, then I imagine they are worth it. $99 of the fee of $1484.23 for a Bradford White 50 gallon tank was the expense of responding immediately after work hours. 4. 5 STARS - The plumber was very fair in telling me that it did not seem like an emergency, but that the old water heater was not worth fixing. I was the nervous person not wanting to wake up to a surprise flood in my house. He explained things well. He was clean, neat, polite, and competent.
If I could give zero I would. While they may very well do good work, they certainly come across as professional, their business practices are questionable and their pricing is outrageous. I called two plumbers for a small job, installation of a Toto washlet. (see separate positive review on Bill's Plumbing, the one I went with). I sent photos of the job to Bill's and they gave me a quote over the phone of $200+parts. These guys refused to do that and said instead they could send someone out the next day for a quote and if I wanted, they would do the job. Since Bill's couldn't do the job for a couple of weeks, I agreed. My first clue should have been when the dispatcher sent me a coupon for $50. A $50 discount for a $200 job? Perhaps my other clue should have been the "next day". Tradesmen are busy, two weeks is reasonable for a non-emergency. Who are these guys? I asked if the plumbers were employees and she said yes, I wonder though. Anyway, a man came out, he was very friendly and professional. Spent a lot of time analyzing, calling the office, making conversation, and then after about 20 minutes gave me a quote of $547 or something close to that. I told him I had a quote for less than 1/2 and wasn't interested. He offered to call the office to "see what he could do", I declined. He then tried to charge me the $39 other reviews talk about, and I told him I wasn't told anything about a fee, was led to believe the estimate was free, asked for a phone estimate, etc etc and wasn't paying anything. He left and I waited the two weeks for Bill's. See 5 star review I wrote for them.
I saw an online special, and needed a sewer mainline rodded out for roots. technician called and said he was on the way, then called back to say he had an emergency call to go to before my clogged sewer job. when he arrived, he immediately inspected and quoted me a lot more than the online amount. after this was pointed out, he said he would " do me a favor" and honor the online pricing. He began to rod the sewer and got a few big chunks of root balls out and began to pack it up after 20 minutes. when I pointed out he still had standing water in the drain and it was not draining properly. he said the "online pricing" did not cover more work, but again he would " do me a favor again" and try to clear it again. He ran his rodder that was too small for the job a few more times and every pass, got more roots out and said at least 5 times " he is not going to be here long for the listed price. The posting online promised a camera inspection and a cleared line or no money would be collected. with the sewer line still clogged and holding water, he packed up his equipment and left and said he would quote me additional repairs. I spoke to the manager via phone and he said they were going to lose money on this job and would not have the tech return to the shop to get the correct bigger cable to finish the job. as he left, he wanted to charge me a $49 trip charge that the office said was waived with the online advertising. waste of time for a job not completed as advertised a now I need to contact someone to complete the job they started.
This may seem like an odd review for some, but I am giving them five stars for NOT coming out to my house and letting me know the City of Chicago was responsible for my problem. I called on a weekend, not being able to get the water on in the new (to us) house we just bought in the Logan Square area of Chicago. Neil called me back and went over the problem with me on the phone, telling me he would be happy to come out but that weekend rates would apply and if I could wait until Monday they would put me on the schedule. On Monday morning I got a call from him saying they had talked it over when they got in the office and that what I described was probably the responsibility of the Water Department and I should call them first and see if I could get it fixed for free. I was fully prepared to pay what was necessary to get a plumber out there(moving in with a baby and no water would be no fun), even at weekend rates, but Neil talked me down and then out of his services. I'm a carpenter and have spent a lot of time on construction sites, but most of plumbing is still black magic to me. In that situation, an honest evaluation is the the most important thing you can pay for, and these guys cemented my future business by spending some time with me on the phone and talking me out of hiring them.
This is the third time I have used Intelligent Service Heating Plumbing and Cooling. I cannot say enough about this company. They have been excellent!! This is now the second time that I was able to describe a special project need I had and Intelligent just took over and coordinated every last detail. On this project I had to remove a leaking old pedestal sink and replace with a new sink, faucet, and vanity. I did not have to do a thing because the AMAZING Trevor stepped in and became the project manager. He coordinated the plumber to come out and measure the space. Trevor found the sink and vanity and faucet and I believe he picked it up himself from plumbing supply to be put on the plumbers truck. Trevor was just great. He sent our favorite Technician and plumber Jim to complete the job. Jim has completed several projects for us. He is fantastic. So knowledgeable. He has exacting standards and won’t leave until the job is completely finished. He is friendly, professional and enthusiastic and very courteous. We always request Jim now, as he’s the best. Jim’s co-worker on this particular project was Lowry and he was also excellent. Trevor and the rest of the Team at Intelligent are so great to work with and we will continue to use them for all of our family properties.
We were referred to Intelligent by our handyman as we have a master toilet that is 7 years old and causing a slow leak. I called Intelligent Service yesterday to have a plumber come out to look at the toilet and also our outdoor spigots. Scheduling was a breeze as I called on Wednesday and was able to get on the schedule for today. I wasn't given a specific time of when they were coming but I always make sure to be at home for these kind of things. A little after 8:30 am, I receive a texr, email and phone call that our technician was on the way. Lowden was assigned to look at the toilet and 2 outdoor spigots was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. He explained what were the issues he found and the solutions to each one. I was given options and shown the price for each option so that we could decide on how best to proceed. The estimates were emailed within 15 minutes after Lowden left and I was able to call the office back to tell them which options we were going with and they're coming next Wednesday to do the work. We have been using a different plumbing company and lately, we have been feeling that they aren't as good as they used to be. I'm glad we were referred to Intelligent Service and I can't wait to see the end results of this project.
