We were having difficulty with our shower. Our property manager called Furuta and they sent out Elijah. We were sent a photo of Elijah so it was easy to identify who was showing up at our home. Elijah was very prompt. Super professional. He accessed the problem, rounded up the necessary parts and within an appropriate amount of time our shower was back up abs running. We were quite satisfied and would recommend Furuta Plumbing.
Had to give props to the crew at Furuta Plumbing. I have an apartment off Date St in Honolulu and another one in Ala Moana Pacific (that high-rise on Kapiolani Blvd). On two separate occasions — one from a mean kitchen sink leak in the Date St unit and another from an AC unit leaking all over the floor in Ala Moana — these guys were the first ones to answer and actually show up. I called three other plumbers for Date and four for the high-rise, but Furuta was the only one who came through quick. Their response time is next level, and they do solid, clean work. The guys were respectful, explained what needed to be done, and didn’t leave any mess behind. I even told my parents in Laie about them, and they’ve been super happy with the service too. Good local company that actually cares — hard to find these days. Definitely going to keep using them for any jobs I need on Oahu. And if they ever expand to the Big Island or Seattle (where I live and do business), they'd be my first call, no doubt. Mahalo Furuta Plumbing — you guys are the real deal!
As a tenant I quickly informed my property manager (pm) about the toilet tank leaking & clogged sink P-trap. PM tasked out Furuta Plumbing to address the issues. What I liked about Furuta Plumbing was that they were fast to schedule, sent me a text message who the technician is along with a photo - that is awesome! My technician, Elijah, called to inform me he was on his way. Elijah was easy to work with, knowledgeable, quick, and very respectful. First time working with this company so alI would recommend this company.
They are professional at first, but after I sent the requested photos for a tub-to-shower proposal, communication completely stopped. I tried multiple employees and sent follow-up emails, but no one could reach the person responsible for my proposal—and then they stopped responding again. If this is their communication during the proposal phase, sheesh. I definitely do not recommend them.
The moment you make appointment, you should think of it as being robbed. It’s a simple task of the gathering all the materials and connecting water purifier line. I easily installed it myself at home, but when I tried to install it at the store, management said I had to call plumbing, so I got a referral from the management. They spent time buying 10 pieces of .02 “ length cross type screws for organizing line and sent a claiming $1,200 plus tax it took 7.5hours instead 3.5 hours. The amount we settled on after fighting $ 989 plus tax. On the first day, the Plummer said it would be complete 2 hours with purchase crews, but company call him to make next appointment enforceable take Plummer away, and deliberately extend the time to inflate the amount. It’s scam. Never use.
You want the short version or the long? Short: CALL THEM NOW, YOU WON'T REGRET IT! Awesome service and amazinggg customer service. Price was what I expected, you get what you pay for. This is the company I'll be using from here on out. Long: My toilet has been absolutely killing me for the past two months. It has a loud screeching noise that can go on for days without end, and it gives everyone in the house a migraine. Being the busy bodies we all are, we kept putting it off because no one wanted to stay home to wait for the plumber. Luckily for me, I found myself working from home for a couple days and decided, why not? I looked up Furuta Plumbing online because they've done a lot of work for my job and I've only heard good things. I submitted an online inquiry and basically told them I have no idea what's going on, so I need help SOS. Within minutes I got a response. Both Jamie and Kai were absolute saints when it came to explaining what was going to happen next. They told me that they could send someone out to diagnose the concern and quote me on the cost of services. Then if I agreed to the quote, the work could be done, right then and there. And if I didn't agree, I would only pay a $50 diagnostic fee, which I thought was reasonable, considering they are having someone drive all the way out here. They got me in for an appointment first thing the next morning, TALK ABOUT QUICK AND SPEEDY SERVICE! The morning of my appointment, both Kai and Jamie worked together to give me a heads up and ETA on the technician, it felt like I was getting royal service, and I loved every. single. minute. of. it. Cody called once he was outside, and introduced himself upon arrival. I especially liked that he didn't come in with all his tools before he knew what the issue was. Instead, he built some rapport, talked to my mother-in-law about her car, even talked to me about paintball, and THEN did his work. I could tell this guy liked his job and liked people. Cody had to run to the shop to get a part that he didn't carry in his truck, but when he came back, he made sure to show me that it was a good one and not one of those cheapy pieces. GOLD STAR!! On top of that, he always asked permission or let us know when he was coming or leaving the home, very well-mannered. I'm glad we got sent Cody, he definitely was the right man for the job. 10/10 would recommend Cody, Jamie, Kai, and the entire Furuta Plumbing clan. Now my toilet is fixed and my migraine is gone!
Furuta was recommended by an employee at my condo because they do a lot of work there and are very knowledgeable about our plumbing. I called them and was happy that they would be at the building that same day and could add me to the schedule. They showed up to snake the clogged drain in the bathtub. (Almost $300 flat fee with tax). Great. Until maintenance showed up and said the water was running into the condo below mine. I was devastated to know that this couldn't be fixed by the plumber on site and would require another call to return the next day for a "Leak investigation". ($250 flat fee plus tax). The next day they were running late and had to cancel, so it was rescheduled for first thing in the morning, (Friday). I asked several times "Okay so when you find the leak, you'll fix it?" and was assured that when they found the leak they'd quote me a price and if I agreed on the price, they would fix the problem. I WAS NOT told that the quote wouldn't be given on site but would have to come in the form of a proposal from the office, and would require ANOTHER appointment for service. Now remember that the shower and kitchen in my condo are unusable because the water runs into my neighbors. So I wait. And wait. I called them on Tuesday and was told to wait some more. It's now over a week later and I still haven't heard back from them. Apparently they're chiseling my quote into a stone tablet and sending it to me by Pony Express. If you have a leak that you want FIXED, you should call someone else. But if you are just curious and you have an extra $250. that you need to get rid of you can get a leak investigation with Furuta. The people on the phone and the two techs who came out were wonderful. The problem is that the company isn't run to FIX problems, it's a never ending parade and the weak link is in getting a "proposal" for the job instead of actually doing the job.
The scheduling and repair done timely. We needed the shower assembly replaced for the master and guest baths and the laundry faucets. The shower replacement kits were purchased from Home Depot and supplied to the installer still in the new box. The laundry faucets supplied by installer. During install the tech noticed that the screws for the cover plate was to short( new valve installed to far for the new screws to reach)so they found some longer screws but different finish. Tech said he would order new correct length screws with the correct finish. After install before tech left it was pointed out to tech that the new guest bath fixture that he just installed had bad tarnish marks on it. He said he could clean it off with some cleaner. This did not restore the shine of the new condition. Also the laundry room valves were installed opposite from what it was on the old valves. This was all brought to techs attention and he said when the screws come in he would correct the concerns. When the screws came in he said he would be by to correct the issues and install the new screws. After trying to connect with him on a date he called me and told me he got into an accident and the he would not be able to come but the other tech that was with him on the original install would come. That person never came and never contacted me. So I call the office and was able to get a commitment on a set date. Only after I contacted the office did I get a call back from the tech. Today the correct new screws were installed and the laundry valves corrected. As far as the tarnished guest bathroom fixtures I was told because it was an owner supplied part(new in the box never opened)they could do nothing. Well I guess I'm stuck with a new part that looks old
So we had a leak in are wall leaking down to lower unit. They are renovating and that’s when they noticed the leak and they were using furuta so we also went with them. So we called them for a leak inspection they said they can have them out there today so I took off work told them I can open a portion of my wall so they can see this was 8 am they did not get back to me till around 12 telling me the unit below is not home so they wasn’t coming. They came two days later did the leak inspection from the unit below they said it was the calking and faucet. The re caulked said it was fixed paid 250. Next day big leak so I asked if they never found the leak do I need to pay for another leak inspection they never found the leak they said yes because they usually only find one leak at a time. And they started to screen my calls wasn’t answering for hours and we know cause we called off one of are friends phone and got a answer right away. So we went with Roto rooter I opened the wall this time soon as he turned on the water he seen the leak and he said I can’t charge you for a leak inspection because I opened the wall I paid 99 for this shower valve was leaking I also had Roto rooter fix it. It was a $2400 fix. I would never use or refer them we also let are property manager know.
Dishonest, unprofessional company. BBB gives them a D- rating and they are not certified by BBB! After doing a diagnostic call (1st visit) and spent only 30 minutes to decide I needed a control board from the maker of my heater. The diagnostic call was $188! It turned out that it wasn't the control board that needed changing, but they charged me $440 (for less that one hour of taking out the original control board (only 1 1/2 yr old) and put in a new one (that I had to pay $65 for shipping, since the part was under warranty) After doing that, the very next day the same problem and same error codes returned. Their diagnostic and work was all for nothing. After calling them several times over two weeks, they have avoided coming or calling me back to correct the problem. They wanted to charge me for additional work & parts. Kelly answers all the calls & always says the bosses are in a meeting and promised a call back soon, but it never happens. Till today, they have not called back but took over $600+ from me. How sad that they take advantage of kupunas (elderly seniors) by taking their money. They have no ethics or morals - so unprofessional! AVOID using Furuta Plumbing if you don't want to get scammed or ripped off.
Quite possibly the worst customer service I've experienced in any industry. STAY FAR AWAY! We decided to reach out to multiple plumbers to get our shower fixed. Furuta was recommended because of some emergency work they did in the past. I was pleased to see an online form on their website saying they would respond within 24-48 hours. Great! However, 72 hours later and no response. I decided to call and the most lethargic person answered the phone asking for some pictures to be uploaded. Alright, not everyone is a morning person. Emailed the pictures and didn't get a response for an hour, so I texted them and got a call right back from someone else. The second person asked a lot of good questions, but once I mentioned we were shopping around, they shut down completely and lost all interest in the job. They said they would email me an estimate, and no surprise, the email never came. It's been a week and I've given up all hope in this business. Perhaps they do some good emergency work, and I hope they do, because dealing with customers that have options is clearly not something they are interested in. Good thing we have a list of alternatives, because Furuta Plumbing is absolutely the bottom of the barrel.
Thank you Greg for all your help. I pray you will always have at lear one other partner to safely change out water heaters for all assignments necessary. Heater been shot over 35 days. I just learned of it been a recall since May 26. Not even a year old before happened. On top of that we are new tenants only 6 months in . First assessment " planned to switch to New heater under warranty " "then changed mind to necessary parts to fix ". Few weeks laer another Furuta plumber came out to change out parts and tells us another part ( glass piece to help it breathe ) needs to be shipped from "OFF ISLAND " . . MEANING... HOW MANY MORE WEEKS OUT ???? I THINK WE SHOULD HAVE. Honestly I don't know if it would be Furuta , , or Performance Rheem or Home Depot or Landlord ? Huge label says Do not to return this water heater to the place of purchase . Instead to call the number shown. Today's tech was honest about having a lot of problems with this model with customers. 6/28/23 Update initial plumber comes out to replace entire heater by himself. What is safety protocol? Especially being up a walk up and washer and sink limits pathway.
Technician came to check the clogged toilet and quoted me $1800.00 to run a line of 50 feet to unclog toilet. He said he could do it as a side job for $900.00. Not knowing any better as a senior citizen thought it was a good price and asked him to do it. It took less than 30 minutes to unclog toilet. However, a couple weeks later it was clogged again. Called the technician that did the side job. He said he can see no fault of his own. But if he checked it would cost me. Had a friend come and unclog the toilet with equipment he rented from Home Depot cost me $60.00. Friend told me I was taken advantage of and should call the company to report it. Wish I could get my money back and charged fairly. Could have used that money for groceries and medication. I really trusted this technician and he made it sound like he was doing me a huge favor and I was saving lots of money. He took advantage or a senior citizen on a fixed income. Be very careful with people that do side jobs with a company they work for.
Solid company and crew. Dayne is very knowledgeable and gives fare estimates without over selling or giving you the run around. His staff is also very knowledgeable, friendly and know how to work efficiently (pretty hard to find nowadays). I've used them a few times for work and have never had to make a call back. My last call was for a clogged drain line that services our steam boilers. They used their Hydrojet to break up all the scale build up. Wayyyyy easier than trying to manually snake the lines. They also used a scope to check their work before and after to see where the build ups were. The company vehicles are very clean and without any oil leaks. I'm throwing that out there because the last thing you want is a black slick spot in your driveway or loading zone haha. If you're looking for a good plumbing company, I highly recommend you check out Furuta Plumbing! Check out their facebook page. They also do residential work.
I called for plumbing services because my kitchen sink was not draining properly. I suspected that the problem was in the main drain line that also serves my neighbors and other kitchen drains on higher floors because water was backing up into my sink. My neighbor is on vacation so I could not confirm my analysis so I also informed the Association maintenance of the problem. Rudy identified and rooted the problem on the main drain line through my kitchen drain line successfully. In my opinion, he took a longer time to drain the line because he use a container that was too small for the amount of water that left in the line and the trap. To insure that water did not remain at the bottom of the cabinet, Rudy needed the wipe the bottom several times. Rudy was meticulous in in his trouble identification and correction. He left the work area cleaner than when he found it. Richard Takahashi
