What To Watch Out For

Not enough data to identify service or work quality weaknesses. Only 1 of 30 reviews gave a rating below 5 stars, and that review praised the plumbing work and pricing; the complaint was entirely about marketing email delivery.

Marketing email system is broken and unresponsive. One customer reports unsubscribe button does not function, receives frequent unsolicited review request emails, and follow up emails to non noreply addresses go unanswered. This is a customer service/operational issue, not a plumbing issue.

Quality & Professionalism

Consistently skilled and thorough workmanship. Water heater replacements, pressure valve work, leak diagnostics, and complex repairs completed efficiently (one review noted completion in exactly one hour including re-soldering hard-piped relief pipe).

Not enough data to identify service or work quality weaknesses. Only 1 of 30 reviews gave a rating below 5 stars, and that review praised the plumbing work and pricing; the complaint was entirely about marketing email delivery.

Communication

Exceptional responsiveness and same-day/next-day availability. Multiple reviewers praise speed of arrival and scheduling flexibility, including holiday availability (Thanksgiving call answered and Monday installation completed).

Strong customer education and transparency. Curtis specifically mentioned multiple times for explaining issues, showing customers what needs repair, teaching maintenance tips, and proactively advising when to delay replacement (operations manager declined to push unnecessary tankless installation).

Pricing

Fair pricing relative to competitors. Multiple reviewers explicitly state Excalibur's rates are 'reasonable,' 'sensible,' or 'competitive' compared to peer companies; one mentions 20% less than Radiant or ABC; customers acknowledge they're not always cheapest but represent good value.

Great job! Richard and his helper were right on it for a propane gas water heater replacement, checked out everything, installed the same-fit/size replacement that we had lined up already right there, and amazingly, they were done in exactly one hour! That included re-soldering the hard-piped high-pressure relief pipe back together that needed to be removed just to do the install. Quick work, and great workmanship! Highly recommended!

Great work by these guys at reasonable prices. I had to have a Pressure Reduction Valve replaced which had caused damage to my Hot Water Heater Pressure Valves and a busted sprinkler line. The team came out and fixed it up. Super friendly and courteous. Ask for Curtis he was fantastic!

highly recommend Excalibur- I used them previously at my condo and knew who to call when I needed a plumber at my "new" house. All of their plumbers that I have worked with are excellent. Kind, efficient, competent, and thorough. I had 2 things that needed to be fixed and Curtis was punctual and educated me on things that needed to be on my radar as a 40+ year old house. I would absolutely want to work with Curtis again!

Plumbing was fine. Price was fine. The fact that the unsubscribe button on their emails doesn't actually unsubscribe is NOT fine. Not only was I signed up for marketing emails I didn't want (seriously, plumbing service is not a luxury good--marketing emails won't get me to install a garbage disposal every 3 months) but this ridiculous review request seems to be sent every other week now. Because the unsubscribe button doesn't work, I'm sharing my experience. Excalibur Plumbing, please get a handle on this--it's a nuisance. I should also say, whatever marketing service they use does not respond to emails even when sent to non-noreply email addresses. They just keep sending and sending and sending...

Called for estimate on a heat pump water heater and got incorrect information from the person on the phone. The ballpark figures for the job were out of whack - they said $4k just for the unit which is way too high. I don't understand why plumbers steer towards gas when heat pumps are far more efficient. Will be calling another plumber for an estimate on hookup. For reference, even an 80 gallon Rheem heat pump can be sourced for under $2k at the home center.

Tale of woe: My hot water heater died on or about October 1. I was still paying off work I had done on my car and I have no major credit cards. On November 12, after paying off the car work, I looked at Home Advisor, found Excalibur Plumbing, read online reviews, and contacted them. I was able to get financing to have my water heater replaced. I spoke with Bob and after applying for financing, scheduled the work. Tuesday November 13, Bob called to let me know the team was on the way and would be at my home shortly. Alan and (sorry, I did not catch the young man's name- Craig, Greg?) showed up about a half an hour later. They were on time. Big plus! They replaced my water heater and installed a new Insinkerator. I am so impressed. They did such a good job. The cost was reasonable. I was able to get financing, a major plus which made it possible for us to have hot water again. The water heater is fabulous! And they insulated the water lines to and from the heater. I wasn't expecting that. Beautiful job. :) They took such care installing the disposal, making sure there were no leaks and even going to get an additional part. They had to rerun the drain lines and doodle about to get everything to fit and work correctly. First time I have had a working disposal in 9 or 10 years. Alan took time and exhibited extreme patience in talking to me, and explaining everything to my satisfaction, and his. Long/short: They responded to my query in a timely manner. They worked with me to be sure I got everything I needed and wanted. They communicate well and the team that came to my house worked well together and did a good job. They do excellent work for a reasonable price. Five stars! I will use them again.

We called Excalibur on a Friday afternoon. This was a non-emergency call and within business hours. The technician showed up and ran a 75-foot snake less than 10 feet and let us know we likely had a broken septic pipe, near the city line and dirt was coming off of the snake. For this service, we were charged $339 to have someone come out to run a 75-foot snake less than 10 feet. I'm told this is the standard charge. We were then quoted $4100 to fix the likely broken pipe. There was mention of using the cost paid for the initial service and another discount of $199 if we went with their quote. When I called to discuss possibly putting us on the schedule, if we could agree to a price and offered them $3600 to do the job ($3562 is the actual math w/discounts). We even inquired about their financing and were told someone would call us back. No one called us back and they actually countered with $3800 which we declined. It is unfortunate that this company lost business because they chose to take advantage of the situation. Additionally, they even showed up at our house as they had "penciled us in" without our consent. I was even told by Management that now their crew has nothing on the books because they blocked off two days. With untrustworthy business practices, questionable quotes, and lack of communication - I would never recommend them. If you are this far down in my review, I suggest you call your city utilities first. Even if they find it's on the homeowner's side, they're free and ran a camera as well.

So...if you're looking for a warm and fuzzy receptionist, stop now. Also, if you're looking for good communication, that may also need some work, but I wanna give big props to Eddie he gets 10 outta 5 stars. He thought he was coming for an estimate in the afternoon but I'd confirmed the week before they'd be there between 8-9 am, to get the job done! So, Long story short, if you're looking for a "bend-over-backwards- to-make-it-right" kinda guy, Eddie, at Excalibur, is your man. Long story long, read on: I had scheduled a follow-up appointment with Excalibur 2 months ahead (had an assessment and estimate done some time ago, and I live out of state, also had to have the HOA notify the other condo dwellers about the water shut off ahead of time ) So, Eddie showed up and saw I had a literal tower of faucets and parts that I'd been advised to buy for the work, he was pretty confused. (He thought he was there to "have a look around" not to do the repairs). He was not certain that all of the fixtures needed replacing at all, and methodically tested water pressure to the building, and checked out the sediment in 8-10 possible traps and quickly determined a flush and a few flow valves would like remedy 90% of the issues I'd been having. In the end I returned the fixtures to the tune of nearly 800$, and got great advice along the way. He was meticulous with his pricing disclosures, professional, and knowledgeable. I'll go through this company again, but you know who I'll be asking for!!!

First of all let me say that we have used Excalibur Plumbing in the past and they have done good work and at a reasonable price. This last time, we had them send a plumber to come out to flush the water heater at our residence and at a rental home we own. All seemed to go well, and it was the same plumber that did both houses, but after he left we noticed that we didn't have hot water in our house. Then we checked the rental house and the water heater was dripping from the faucet. Since it was after hours on Friday, no one at the main number answered and there's no ph number for emergency calls. I was able to call back the plumber that actually did the service, and he was rude and abrupt to me , said he couldn't go back out, and to contact the main number. When my husband called him back after trying again to reach the main number, he was much more pleasant to him ,but insistent that he could not come back out to take care of the problems. He them advised my husband how to turn hot water back on that he forgot to do when he serviced our water heater, and to tighten the valve or faucet on the rental house water heater. The water heater continued to drip even after tightening it, and my husband had to run a hose from it out of the garage. Both things should have been taken care of when he serviced both houses. We had left several messages at the main number, but no one ever called us back on Monday.

It was really more of a 3.5 star rating. 4 stars from answering the phone 4 stars for getting on the schedule quickly 3 stars for the Technician--NOT a plumber & this is being generous because he was nice 2 stars for the price of the work actually done They charge $200 an hour just to look around for a leak. I agreed out of desperation because my entire first floor floor had flooded. If they actually do anything besides look to diagnose, there are additional charges. They charged me $249 to auger the main sewer line 50 feet. He didn't even have one long enough with him. And after not actually finishing the introducing the auger, the city came by and found the problem but I was still charged over $400 for his wandering around and semi putting the auger down the main line. The real kicker though was that on the invoice statement, he stated that the home has been vacant for two years! That was an out right, absolute lie! And now my insurance company is questioning this. I told him that I purchased the home two years ago! I said it has never been vacant. Now I have to provide loads of documentation for the insurance company for them to decide if they are going to cover it. This was part of the damage done during the freezing storms here! He was a nice guy but I was not impressed with his skills or lack of, at all.

I called Excalibur for a home inspection and water heater flush. It was very easy to schedule appointment and reschedule it since my original date moved due to some work meetings I had. Curtis came in the morning and he explained and inspected everything. He showed me sand that was coming out from the water heater flush and measured that the home Pressure was 50 psi. So he examined everything and sure enough found a leak and flood under the ground in the outside home pressure valve. Curtis and Excalibur gave me a good discount to fix it immediately and also install a water shutoff valve inside the garage. Then Curtis worked in the outside Texas heat and sun diligently to dig out and replace leaking presssure valve, and shutoff valve installation. It was super hot but he worked fast and promptly. Afterwards he tested the systems for any leaks and remeasured pressure. When pressure was still 60 psi and not 70 psi he checked further and determined that the water mains from the city was at 60. Anyhow with the leak fixed and flooded water removed, he put back the soil and put back things as they were. Excellent job, will recommend Excalibur and Curtis.

These guys were Amazing! Two months ago my pilot light on my 15 year old water heater went out. They were out within three hours to relight and give us a quote on a tankless system. The bid was very reasonable so I called the operations manager and asked him if we should move forward with the installation or hold off until the old water heater died. Naturally I assumed he would push me to replace but he said he would hold off until the old one died. I was completely impressed that they didn't to encourage me to buy right away. Two months later on Thanksgiving it started leaking. I called Excalibar back on Thanksgiving thinking I would be leaving a message and they answered. Not only did they answer but they scheduled replacement of the hot water heater for Monday and it was done by the end of day on Monday. We couldn't be happier with the service or the tankless product. I would absolutely consider paying a little extra to get the recirculating system so that you have "on demand" hot water. It's really nice to jump in the shower and have hot water immediately.

Let me put the bottom line first: Excalibur scheduled me in quickly, Thomas fixed the problems in a very timely manner, and I got a better discount. This is why I keep using this company - they're good! Of course it always happens when you're getting ready for work. My shower stopped draining, AND the toilet started leaking at the base, so something was going on. I've been using Excalibur for several years, and have a deal in place from Angie's List, so I called Excalibur and was given a time frame between 11 and 1. About 9:30 I called back to see if anyone could come out sooner and they bumped me up to between 10 and noon. Thomas got to the house, took a look and listened to what had happened. He set up a machine outside to go through and "chew up" whatever was causing the clog. It took him about 20 minutes and everything was cleared out. He tested all the drains and they were draining fine. In addition to getting the job done quick and right, Thomas also gave me a better discount than the one I had with Angie's List.

Very happy with customer service and the honest approach of Joey, Louie, and Richard. We replaced the gas valve on our water heater and they provided up front pricing options and clearly explained each. I chose the most affordable and ordered the part. After the part was in delivered they came back out and did the install the same morning I called. During the install they noticed a part that was failing and explained what would happen if it wasn't fixed. I took a look and the part was visibly failing and changing color. I decided to replace the parts and was present for the entire process. Quality workmanship, willingness to answer questions and upfront pricing through the entire process. We have hot water again and should we have any other plumbing concerns we will be calling them in. Called them back for a 3rd service event for a water leak. Curtis was efficient in diagnosing the issue and provided options along with way with costs associated with each. Along with long-term solutions and options.

I got a deal with them through Angie's list. They came to do a flush and refused to do it as my water heater was old. When I said there was no disclaimer or conditions to the flush stated on the offer, they checked with the "manager" and came back and said they won't do it. Mind you, they did not check the water heater. They just looked at it from the outside, said it was too old to flush (it is a 1997). They insisted it would have 'hard water' inside that they didn't want to be responsible for and made up some crazy excuse about how flushing it would cause more damage. Then then spent about 20 minutes trying to sell me a new hot water heater. Clearly, the entire offer was just a scam to up sell people. When I finally did get it flushed, surprise surprise, the plumber said that there was no hard water inside, that it flushed very fast and had no damage. I never got my money back from Angie's List but that is another story.
