So much for 24/7 365 days a year emergency service. Have a clogged toilet in my elderly mother’s house that needs fixed ASAP. Spoke with a dispatcher that said the technician was finish up a job nearby and would let us know when he was done. The next call I got was saying the technician had worked too many hours today and they would not be able to send someone tonight. DON’T ADVERTISE IT IF ITS NOT TRUE!

My tenants in San Mateo called Drain Doctor on Thanksgiving when both the kitchen sink and a bathroom drain were clogged. Unfortunately, I was out of town and they couldn’t reach my usual plumber. According to my tenant, Rocky (the owner) came out and said the old metal traps and pipes running from the shower and kitchen sink to the main line were corroded and not functioning. He quoted $4,500 and replaced about 15–20 feet of pipe in the crawl space within 4 hours. My tenant authorized the work. Rocky mentioned that he was giving us a “discount” since it was a holiday, claiming the job would normally cost $7,000 with other companies, but that he doesn’t overcharge like others in the Bay Area. He also noted that the remaining cast iron pipes should eventually be replaced. After I returned from my trip, I asked him for a quote to replace the rest of the cast iron lines and also brought in two other licensed plumbing companies for comparison. Rocky’s quotes were $5,000–$7,000 higher than the others, again framed as a “discount” based on the earlier work. The two other plumbers I consulted also reviewed the Thanksgiving job and said the work should have cost closer to $2,800. They were surprised by how much I had been charged. Overall, I am not satisfied with how this was handled. While I always try to support local small businesses, this did not feel like fair treatment. The “discount” pitch seems more like a sales tactic than genuine savings, and the prices were well above market rate—even accounting for the holiday timing. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this company and won’t be using them again.

OK, this is overdue. Last month I noticed water on the garage cement floor and thought it was just moisture. After careful review I noticed that the water heater was leaking. I called four different plumbers to get estimates with Drain Doctor being the first one I called. A little history of my previous water heater is in order. in 2019 I was overseas, and the heater broke and leaked all over the garage damaging some important personal items. My girlfriend at the time called a plumber who installed a new heater and what a mess it was. That plumber used galvanized steel for the inlet and outlet of the heater lines. Routed the pressure relief pipe into the water heater pan rather than outside of the pan and installed my recirculating pump facing the side wall where I could not gain access. Additionally, the gas line reservoir was installed by the water heater rather than near the gas line valve coming out of the wall. There were no 2x4 boards in the back of the heater for earth quake bracing and the water lines were not earth grounded, all of which are city compliance requirement. To say the least it was a cluster F. When Bobby from Drain doctor showed up, he immediately pointed out the nonconformance of the water heater and gave me a bottom-line price from his standard pricing book which no other plumbers could beat. Some quotes were almost double and after negotiating with those plumbers they got close to Bobby's price which didn't sit well with me. So, I decided to go with Bobby and that proved to be fortuitist based on his efficient and compliant work. Bobby is a plethora of plumbing information or more like a Wikipedia of plumbing. He does have a laid back and straight forward attitude but don't let that fool you. He's the top gun in his industry. Anyway, I've read some of the negative reviews and in each case, there has been a unique set circumstance that all of us experienced in our daily life but over 99%+ of Drain Doctor reviews are very positive. I can't tell you how happy we are with his work and in fact our outside main water line inlet valve was broken, unbeknown to us and we had him come back the next day to fix that as well. I didn't bother getting other quotes because I knew Bobby would give us a competitive price but more importantly do the job right. Anyway, you can't go wrong with Drain Doctor and ask for Bobby. I only write reviews for services and businesses I think are exceptionally good— and this is one of those. Every aspect of working with Drain Doctor—from my initial call to the final payment— exceeded my expectations. The two people I interacted with were both very professional, helpful, friendly, straightforward and considerate the whole time. Jorge arrived early, diagnosed the problem within minutes and fixed it within 10. He then went above and beyond by caulking the toilet (not part of the estimate) and giving me info about what I needed to do to prevent future problems. At the end, when my card declined due to fraud protection, he and the lovely woman in the office (I’m sorry, I can’t remember your name!) were super patient while I fixed the issue. This was my first experience needing a plumber and Drain Doctor was the only one I needed to call. Truly, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I will definitely use them in the future and highly recommend them to anyone needing quality plumbing work done fast at a reasonable price! Thanks, guys!

We had a plumbing emergency over the weekend, and from the first call to Drain Doctors, the experience was excellent. Vivian handled our case and sent Martin over on Saturday. He was punctual, diagnosed the issue, and provided a clear quote. When I expressed some doubts, Vivian immediately had Martin return in person to clarify every question we had. We ended up proceeding with a much larger project: pipe replacement and two clean outs. Martin and his team were professional, courteous, and always informed us before shutting off the water. When I needed to coordinate the city permit, a member of the office team reached out on Sunday to confirm our Monday inspection time. Martin and the team were back again to assist with the permit and left the place very clean. Throughout the process, Vivian was always available via phone or text. Highly recommend this reliable and professional team!

First call was made at 8:30pm for a flooded bathroom and emergency help needed. Drain Doctor quickly deployed a plumber George who got there within an hour to help research the problem. Our solution was not feasible so late with my kids already sleeping, so George helped get everything safe for the night and helped schedule an appointment for first thing the next morning. Alex showed up around 8:30 in the morning and was an absolute professional. We found a broken pipe under the house. He working with my landlord and walked through our options. Got the work done much faster than expected. Kept my house clean and cleaned up after themselves. Alex was an absolute professional who knew his stuff, could walk you through the problem/solution, and worked fast and clean. I would recommend Drain Doctor for anyone with plumbing issues, especially in an emergency situation.

Scott and Vivian with Drain Doctor were amazing! Vivian greeted me on the phone and was able to have Scott come out within 30 minutes. When he got here he quickly assessed the garbage disposal had a crack in it and replaced it right there. Because I rent not own, I got my landlord on the phone and Scott gave him a quoted price including the parts and labor. There wasn’t any confusion, it was very smooth, and my landlord was able to pay over the phone with his card. He worked quickly, promptly, and was great! On Sunday, I needed immediate service so I started going down the list of plumbers near me that are open 24/7. Four different businesses didn’t answer the phone and one said they only take appointments…. What??? Drain Doctor Fremont was next and I was assured someone would be at my home within the hour. The technician was here within 30 minutes and just as quickly he had cleared the drain from the street. Both the office and the technician were very courteous and wanted to make sure I was satisfied. The task was completed, but I will tell you service makes all the difference! Job well done, and it let me get back to my weekend quickly!

I called Drain Doctor after after trying to get two other plumbers to come on short notice to fix a leaky toilet.
