David Crow and his crew at Ben Franklin Plumbing are absolutely amazing to work with! Very accommodating, trustworthy, knowledgeable, honest, and fair. Highly recommend their services! Thank you for always taking great care of me!
Chris F. from Benjamin Franklin plumbing has been very patient and informative about the work that needed to be done in our sewer system. He made sure everyone did what they were supposed to do or he came by and took care of it himself. He made sure we had options and skilled people for what they did not do. All in all we are very pleased with the project and its completion.
I needed a new hot water heater. It was a Saturday morning when the old one quit working ( it was 13 years old). Alie came out first & described all the details for getting a new one. He got the parts ordered & within a couple hours Zachery was here & installed the new hot water heater. He had to replace some old valves & bring all connections up the code. He did a great job on the installation. I had a new hot water heater ready to use by that afternoon. All went well & great service with reliable knowledgable technicians.
This company promotes itself as the prompt plumbers. They advertise they're on time or they pay you. They don't tell you this only applies to the initial visit to quote the job. It doesn't apply to when they're actually doing the work. I was told the would be at my house first thing in the morning between 8:30 and 9. At 9:45 I called and was told they were in route. I called again at 10:45. Asked about the promptness and that's when I was told that only applies to initial visit. They told me they couldn't get in touch with manager but they should be there in a few minutes. They showed up at 11:35. The two guys that did the work were nice and professional. I was told they would make two holes in Sheetrock and it should cost$200 to repair. There were four holes made and the initial quote from their recommended repairman was over $1000. The plumbers had to do more work than originally quoted which cost me $850 more than the original $3060. The manager that did the original quote also said the plecs pipe over water heater is required to be flexible metal pipe. The plumbers didn't do this. When we asked about this the manager denied saying that. My opinion: the company is misleading customers on their advertisements as prompt or they pay. They have no problem telling customers lies throughout the process.
BEWARE: These guys are crooks. The appeal that attracted me to them is that they are usually pretty available - especially weekends. These guys quoted me $5,000+ for a leak....coming up with involved overhauls that they "recommended." And, their story/persuasion was pretty compelling - that, they are good at However, the magnitude of the estimate and the work did not smell right. So, I got a second opinion. The second plumber, from a trusted family friend recommendation, had been in business for 20 years and quoted $1,000 and told me everything Benj Franklin was recommending was not needed at all. NEVER AGAIN will I use these crooks. I'm sure they would have done the work - with a whole crew - but that is UNETHICAL when it was NOT NEEDED.
5/1 - no refund has been issued so unfortunately this displays poor follow through. Update 3/21 - still awaiting my refund…. Update** - Got a call from Mike a service manager. He listened to the situation and was quick to acknowledge that an error was made and that the situation was not properly handled. We reached a resolution that included a refund but more importantly restored my perspective on the company. In the future, I am more inclined to use Benjamin Franklin now that I have had this positive interaction. Service done well makes long lasting customers! Had a gas leak and needed quick repair for my water heater. No issue with the service when the tech showed up or cost. The issue came after signing up for the service agreement which the technician recommended. The issue came from the fact that the service agreement was signed by my tenant and not with me the homeowner. The technician told the tenant (while I was on the phone so I could hear it) that to cancel the agreement you could do it anytime after 30 days. He also stated it would save a % of the up front cost for repair. Seemed like a win win but later came the fine print. Fast forward a few months, my tenant needed to move out and attempted to cancel the agreement. When he reached out, he was told that the only options would be the pay out the remaining cost of the service agreement. This was directly contradictory to what he and I had both been told by the technician. The customer care representative - LaKisha S. also stated that "the tenant should never have been able to sign the agreement since the technicians are trained to only have home owners sign due to the coverage not staying with the property in the event the tenant moves out." The end of the story was that I paid the $200+ "buy out" for the policy and will receive nothing in terms of coverage. This whole situation could have easily been resolved with a compromise when the service representative clearly did not fully understand the customer situation and recommended the policy. The result was extra money and a lost customer (me). Now that I know this is how Benjamin Franklin Plumbing handles customer service issues, I will never recommend them or use them again. Its unfortunate because there were many opportunities for the customer service rep to resolve the issue, especially when they admitted that errors had been made. I hope others will keep in mind the fine print and avoid doing business with this place. To the leadership for the Fort Worth location, I would take a hard look at your training guidance for techs and evaluate how your customer reps resolve issues. This is a very poor experience that could have been avoided.
If it were possible to not leave any stars that's what I would do. We were having plumbing issues with our toilets and sewer water had come up out of our bath tubs. We called Ben Franklin because of convience and I figured it was a reputable company, boy was I wrong. Plumber comes out and he does clear the line for us, told us it was most likely facial wipes my wife had been flushing down the toilet. Simple enough. $289 he was there for about 45 mins. Okay I didnt ask too many questions since there was shit in my bathtubs I would have paid twice that to fix it. My concern is what happened next, he checked our pipes with a camera just to make sure there were no cracked pipes that needed to be fixed, he said there were not but never showed us the video, again not a huge concern at that point. The plumber then told us that he hopes nothing ever goes wrong with our pipes since they are 15 to 18 feet down where the typical house is about 4 to 5 feet.. told us they charge $2500 for every 4 feet if something is wrong. At this point we send him on his merry way. And 6 days later our toilets start acting funny again, they give you a 30 day warranty so we called them back out, again the plumber try's to clear the line and tells us whatever is in there broke his machine and he is unable to clear it. He tells us to call the city to clear the tank. Okay so now we are freaking out, we call the city and they considered it an emergency and were at our house within 2 hours. They were able to clear the tank and tells us they will send someone out to survey the pipes to see the issue and if its on our side or the city's side. Two days later the come out to survey and stick there cameras down there, he tells us there were rocks in our drain that most likely had been put there by a little neighbor kid just messing around. Hmmm all of a sudden our neighborhood kids are putting rocks down our drain right after the plumber has come out, seems like a huge scam to me. The city actually cleared the line for us and he showed us the video of our pipes to assure us no cracks and it was clear. He did specifically tell us that was not something he was supposed to do but he was able to. He also told us our pipes were only a little over 6 feet down. I urge you not to use this company, i have no other explanation as to how those rocks ended up in my drain other than that plumber, if the man working for the city would not have been so helpful and kind we could have been out thousands and thousands of dollars for something the plumber did. We are considering reporting this to the better buisness bureau.
No, I was not satisfied with my level of service. The whole experience was not the level of service I would expect to receive when paying this amount of money. Some of the issues are listed below: -Pricing changed during the install due to plumber not checking to make sure the line he cut was connected to anything else besides the backyard hydrants. He cut the line for the backyard which was also connected to the cold water in the house. So they came back saying it would be 5000 something more dollars to fix but were able to get it down to 2100. -Cut one of the hydrants out of the yard but left 2 inches sticking out of the ground instead of making it flush. Did not bother cutting out the 2nd hydrant out like said they would. -He left without checking to make sure the water was running. My Dad was there and checked and had to call dispatch to call him and tell him the cold water was not working and that is how we ended up with the price increase noted above. You think a plumber would check these things before leaving a job that is "complete". -There was dirt left on my walkway at my front door and on the house. Also, on the wall tile in the bathroom looked to be blood but might have been dirt. All this was left for me to clean up. -Ran the plumbing outside the house instead of under in the crawl space and in the garage it was ran on the outside wall instead of inside. (pics attached) When he was selling the service, he said they would drill through the foundation to run the pipe under ground. When we asked why he ran it through the crawl space vent holes he said they do not drill through foundations. -Left the old pipes exposed in the garage instead of removing them or cutting them out. My dad removed them and even mentioned something about the copper pipe that was still in the wall and the plumber still just left it there. -In the garage instead of running the plumbing through the studs he just went over the top of them. We were planning on putting sheet rock up in my garage and now the plumbing causes a problem. -The grounding of my house was cut when replacing one of the old galvanized pipes and it failed inspection and they told me I would have to have an electrician come out to do it at my expense that this was not something they did. After speaking to them and letting them know that we were not happy about this they did have an electrician come out and ground the house me with no charge for me like they originally said. I would not recommend Ben Franklin Plumbing to anyone and even steer them clear of going with them if they were going to.
In response to the owner's statement, I'm just going to reiterate everything that was wrong with our experience with Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. · It was exactly $376 for a toilet installation + a $70 extra charge, that apparently is demanded this no matter what. · They may or may not tell you about this extra charge. · It was a brand new toilet, and pulled right out of the box. · After the installation, the plumber left the toilet leaking. · When he came back, he was rude. · The plumber refused to guarantee his work unless we paid more money on top of the $445, because we had purchased the new toilet from Lowes, and not from Benjamin Franklin Company. · We ended up installing the toilet ourselves. · This company admits they do not itemize their parts and labor, because they know they are severely overcharging you. About the $70 extra charge: This is not a minimum charge, which would make sense, It is an EXTRA CHARGE, on top of the work they will do once they get there. We were not informed of it. There was no text/email about it either. Pictured below are the only text messages we got from them. The owner disagrees, but other people have had the same experience. The reason why this is bad, was because: 1. This was a service we didn't ask for. 2. We didn't even need it. We could have gotten the toilet repaired the following week. We never asked to pay $70 for a plumber to arrive in three hours or to do any of the aforementioned tests. And then once the plumber installed the toilet, he left it leaking. This was a steady drip that could have potentially caused damage in the rental home it was being used for. We ended up replacing the seals around the tank to be thicker and installed the toilet ourselves -- for much less than $400. This owner admits that the company does not itemize the parts and labor: she is essentially admitting that Benjamin Franklin Company is not transparent with their costs. Even if that is industry standard, find a plumbing company that's actually honest.
On 6/12/18 - I made a call to Benjamin Franklin Plumbing license # M-17631 - phone 817-784-1249. I noticed water on my driveway. I called the city of Arlington and was advised to call a plumber. The plumber arrived and diagnosed my problem as the banned quest line- going from the water meter to my home. The cost to replace is very expensive- I agree to replace the water line- Per the plumber this was the problem. The plumber did not check my sprinkler system- he was certain the issue was the water line. After the work was done to replace the water line- the problem with water coming up on my driveway still existed. After complaining that my problem had not been resolved, a supervisor by the name of David contacted me and came out. He saw there was still water coming up from my driveway. David- said he would have his sprinkler guy come out and would take care of the problem. David advised me to not use the sprinklers so the ground would be dry. When the sprinkler guy arrived, he asked to check my sprinkler system- that's when it was discovered that 1 of the sprinkler stations was not working. This is where the plumbing company had dug up the yard to replace the water line. The sprinkler guy did find the problem causing the water on the driveway and repaired that problem. But he would not look at the other issue with the broken sprinkler. My sprinkler system Had been working properly on All stations before Benjamin Franklin Plumbing dug up my yard to replace the water line. This has been the worst experience dealing with Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. I called them for 1 issue and they have created another issue. Think long and hard before you call Benjamin Franklin for service, license # M-17631 - phone 817-784-1249. Address - 7501 US Highway 287 Suite B-1 Arlington, Texas 76001
Had a slow running drain recently. Our local plumbers did not work on Easter weekend, and we can respect that, but with a family dinner scheduled we called Benjamin Franklin. Their arrival window was 3 hours (between 2 and 5 PM). We noticed that the gentleman who arrived did not look like he would be physically able to do any sort of strenuous plumbing work, due to his very large size. We were correct. When assessing the situation he looked under the sink (bending at the waist, not getting down there) and proceeded to give us numerous reasons why he probably could not do the job for a reasonable fee: no "clean out" access, old pipes, etc. He sat down with his clipboard and iPad and proceeded his sales pitch. By quoting outlandish prices, we were steered into purchasing a gallon of BioBen which he said might or might night clear the drain after 5 days treatment. After agreeing to purchase the smallest amount that we could, 1 gallon, he then went into his sales pitch about a service plan. We rejected that and still had to wait another 10 minutes for him to slowly finish his paperwork. Time spent: approx. 30 minutes. Cost: $159.00. Results: sink still clogged. Wednesday called a local plumber. They responded in about 2 hours. They asked a few questions when arriving and went straight to work. Time spent: approx. 35 minutes. Cost: $99.67. Result: Problem solved! If you want a salesman to call, then by all means call Benjamin Franklin. If you want a plumber, call anyone else!
I wish I could put ZERO!! Without a doubt, one of the worst WORST companies that I have ever dealt with and that's saying a lot since I've been a professional Realtor for 23 years. The biggest shysters in the world! Had a water heater problem, venting into the attic that they installed! I called them initially, sent them the inspection result pictures so they would know beforehand what was needed, told me that it was covered and there would be no charge since they did the initial installation. When the technician went to the vacant home and took care of business, called me to let me know there would be a charge of $270.00! He was there ten minutes and just had to put the pipe connection together in the attic since the H20 heater was venting C02 into the attic. He said he used about 4 sheet metal screws to do it. Well as you can imagine I refused to pay it and the "manager" Josh told me that I either had to pay it or they would lien the home. I told him to stuff it! Shysters!! Worst company in the world! Folks, please don't be fooled by this company. NO customer service, ZERO followup on their shoddy work and not a clue on how to treat a customer. By the way, the initial charge to my homeowners to install their gas H20 heater: $1420 for a 50 gallon. Rip off, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. I would hire a bum off the streets with a monkey wrench in his back pocket before I would even think of calling these crooks again. BEWARE!!!
I have had a broken garbage disposal for almost 2 months, and then I had a tremendous leak in my water system occur just this last week. Due to some outlying issues finances were tough, and Richie from Benjamin Franklin plumbing worked tirelessly to find a way to accomplish both tasks and make it affordable. He was incredibly professional and the work done inside the house was done spotlessly, and I received a five year warranty on the garbage disposal. He tested retested and then tested it a third time just to make sure there were no leaks no improper fittings and that I was going to be completely satisfied. The next thing he worked on was the leak outside the house. He went above and beyond to work with in my budget and accomplish the work that needed to be done. The professionalism and quality of work was beyond reproach. He took extensive time to review the entire house and provide additional recommendations for the future completely understanding that there was going to be nothing possible at this time due to my financials. I also appreciate the fact that the work being done on two separate appointment times both times were met, both times I received calls prior to the arrival, and they even waited as I was a little bit late getting off of work today. I don't know everybody at Benjamin Franklin plumbing, but I can recommend Richie, the supervisor he worked with, and the dispatcher on both appointments.
Had Ben the Frank come out here about a month ago.Thats Arlington,TX 76012 so your not confused. My main drain was clogged. Charged $690 to hydro jet it, which if you think about it is really dumb to do. Next day after the drain was cleared Chris shows up for an inspection and tells us drains are badly damaged and it will cost $50k to repair, but he didn't tell us the cost in person. He emailed it to us as he was leaving the door. Within the email were four pictures of the same thing. You would think with all that damage he'd be able to send multiple images of DIFFERENT areas. That's very unprofessional, but what do I know, I'm not a plumber right? Three days later my main was backed up again. I called a different company where two men, no they were superheros which entered my home, they snaked my drain like real men and they worked hard. They then went on to show me the live video of my drain lines, nothing was damaged. I called Benjamin Franklin back for a refund like website said but they told me you only get it back if we send someone out to verify the last guy was wrong. Of course they will say we have damage, I have to "trust" them now? These guys are shady. You guys keep it. The way I see it, my review cost you more than the $690 you robbed me of and the outright lie that I needed $50,000 in repairs. They prey on people that have a lack of knowledge in plumbing.
I've used Benjamin Franklin before and the work they do is fine, but their business practices are why I would recommend avoiding them. Technicians seem to provide as little information as possible and offer the highest possible estimates. I recently received a postcard offering a "FREE SERVICE CALL"- the postcard goes out of its way to explain that the service call fee is waived...but it's only fine print in parentheses at the very bottom of the card that makes clear that this fee is only waived if you have the technician perform work that day...and "Service fee will be waived if work is done at time of call" definitely doesn't make clear that diagnostic work doesn't count. I just had a technician out to take a look at the hardware in one of my toilets that is acting up, and he was here less than ten minutes. He didn't even really look at the problem, just listened to me and then said he would completely rebuild the inside of the toilet tank and quoted a price of $285. Because I'm not having them do that work today, I paid a $69 service fee for work that they might as well have just done over the phone. In short, there are plumbers who will do free estimates, but Benjamin Franklin will not only trick customers into paying service fees, but will then highball estimates for repairs without actually diagnosing or explaining problem. Don't call this company.
