Jonathan from Ben Franklin was very professional and thoroughly explained all the steps which made very easy for deciding the type of work that I need him to carry out. He took care of the whole situation in timely fashion and left the area very clean and functional. A.G. Patel MD
Chris with Benjamin Franklin Plumbing came to our home in Midlothian to diagnose and clear a drain stoppage under our slab foundation. He was professional and courteous in addition to his technical skills. Chris diagnosed the problem quickly, provided insight to the issue, and explained how to avoid problems in the future. Lastly, the fee was very reasonable. Highly recommended.
Johnathan was my plumber. He was very friendly, professional, and let me know about my different options. He gave the pricing information upfront. He worked quickly and efficiently, and installed my new garbage disposal with no problems. Satisfied with my service.
Mary needs to either go to diverse and customer service training or retire. Her phone mannerism words cannot describe. I called needing a service tech to come out because of a leak in the kitchen I am unable to pin point the leakage. So, I called the number on the social media page, which routed to the McKinney office, which subsequently directed me to Duncanville. Mary stated she did not know where Balch Springs was and did not know of any other competitor? I thought, you should as this is the industry you are in. With that said, I went back on line to verify, after speaking to Deborah, who is in McKinney, she stated, when she search by zip code, Duncanville Benjamin Franklin Plumbing populates. Now this is principle. I called back and Mary answers stating "McKinney can't tell us who to service." I requested for a supervisor and Mary did exactly what I knew she would do, I was transferred to what "voicemail." I left a message and filed a BBB report and Frymire one of their competitors is coming out today. Mary is truly a bad representation of the Benjamin Franklin Plumbing brand. The manager returned my call, I explained the issue I had and that Mary needs coaching. The manager was very professional and addressed my concerned and the fact that their particular location do not service Balch Springs.
As noted with other reviewers, I'm speaking on the Duncanville location specifically. A few weeks ago, I had a pipe to burst in my kitchen. I checked out Ben Franklin's website before calling. The website stated that they provide free estimates, and the person I spoke to when I called, confirmed this. When the plumber/tech came out, he didn't have any equipment to locate the leak. So he made holes in the wall. (I could've done that myself!) When he informed that he couldn't find anything, stating that he needed to make another hole, I asked him to leave. The next day I received a bill for $127. When I called to question the bill, reminding them that I was supposed to receive a free estimate, they informed me that the tech performed an "evaluation," not an estimate. So they're basically playing semantics so that they can charge you. Sounds like false advertising to me and it places homeowners in a terrible spot because we all know these companies will place a lien on your home if you don't pay. L. Phillips
This this review is specifically for the Duncanville location. I would highly recommend THAT YOU DO NOT USE THEM,THEIR PRICES ARE OVER INFLATED We own a rental property in Grand Prairie and unbeknownst to us our tenant had Benjamin Franklin Plumbing - Duncanville, come out to restart the water heater and repair a leak in the guest bathroom. When we received a copy of their bill from the tenant, I phoned Benjamin Franklin Plumbing, because I felt the $414.00 charges were excessive and asked for a breakdown of parts and labor. They told me that they charge a flat rate of $117.00 for every job they do. For example $117 to re-light the water heater and $117.00 to repair the faucet leak. I asked how they'd rebuilt the faucet and they told me they had replaced some of the washers but reused the existing parts. So what made up the additional $180 they had charged on the invoice? I again asked for a breakdown of parts and labor and was told that their "master plumber" would call me; which of course he didn't. I called again to speak with the "master plumber" who told me that I needed to take it up with my tenant, because he was not about to credit me back for anything. I told him I was looking for a parts and labor cost breakdown because I felt they had taken advantage of the situation and overcharged the tenant; they knew this was a rental property and never received approval from us to enter the property. "Master Plumber" said that was not their mode of operation and that he'd send me a breakdown of parts and labor for the work done. After yet another call, nothing has been received.
I'm surprised by the reviews here on yelp. EspecIally since google reviews are so high and that aligns with my experience with them. I just used Benjamin Franklin to snake the main water line in our kitchen and install a new water line connection for our refrigerator. Right from when I called Jaime was so nice and knowledgeable for setting up the service. The service was great they arrived on time explained everything thoroughly. Adding the water line wasn't even on the agenda but figured I asked since they were there and they were able to install and connect it during that visit. We will definitely be using them again for future needs and referring them to our friends and family.
I needed to replace the valve stem on aging faucet in my aging main bathroom tub. I have experience with doing this work myself, I even have a box of valve stems in my garage, but, since the drip would start, then stop, then start again, and stop when a plumber arrived...of course, I decided to get it replaced. It did leak, and William arrived quickly and repaired it. He stayed watching to make sure the drip was truly stopped. The Value, well, I know how much those parts cost, and I have access to "free" plumbing, but I like the 2-year warranty on the work and part. I knocked off one star due to the cost, but in my area, this company usually is dependable and friendly.
I had a guy come out on Wednesday and he said he'd get with his boss and they'd discuss what needed to be done and then call me back the following morning. Thursday came and went and he never called. I called Friday morning and asked why I hadn't heard anything and the she said she'd get ahold of him and have him give me a call back. I called back friday at a quarter to 4 and was told he was still out in the field and wouldn't call me back until he got done with his days worth of work. I'm trying to sell the house and if I can't actually get them to return my calls I have to find someone who's interested in my business. This is a definite look elsewhere.
I don't know how the other Benjamin Franklin locations work, I am only speaking for the Duncanville location on this review. I highly recommend NOT hiring these guys. Their prices are way over inflated. I have since found another company that will not only take care of the problem, but are going to reroute my plumbing so that this doesn't happen again in the future, basically taking preventive measures and watching out for my back, instead of doing patch work and charging me out at the ass. So with this new company, I get all of that and it was far less than what Benjamin Franklin was going to charge me for work, go figure.
We tried Benjamin Franklin Plumbing based on recommendations from friends. We were not disappointed! We will definitely use them for any future plumbing needs. Update: when we do this review 3 years ago, the two men who came out were fabulous. But a year ago we had an issue with the same drain, and the man that came out was nothing but a salesman. After telling us our pipes were no good and it was going to cost $50,000 to replace them, we called KMP Plumbing, Heating and Air and they were wonderful! They gave us a full video of the pipes, let us know what was wrong and what was fine. We were very pleased with their service.
I called Ben Franklin Plumbing on Monday 2/15/21 for plumbing services for a busted pipe, they gave me an appointment for Friday 2/19/21 from 3:00 - 5:00 and took my credit card number to charge the fee. I called them to confirm the appointment, but unfortunately they could not find anything. They then put me on awaiting list. I called Saturday to confirm again, they then told me I was out of their service area and I needed to call Duncanville because the appointment was cancelled again. Duncanville does not return calls, therefore I called another company and will be sure to NOT refer to above company.
We hire these professionals and trust them to do the right thing and charge you for their services based on the complexity of the work and labor. So when I call Ben Franklin plumbing after reading reviews. I thought this time I won't be taken advantage of. They replaced a strainer in kitchen sink, putty and tightened it in back. less than 1/2 of work. Charged me 342.00. I called and asked why so much. Mgr. Said I have to pay for receptionist, gas for truck, the 4 year training for the plumber?? The part cost 13.99.?? I looked it up. So if you want to be overcharged call them.
Benjamin plumbing staff did a superb job of installing a world class whole house water filtration system in my home. The process was seamless, beginning with a rigorous and thorough presentation of the myriad of benefits of having the Brita system operating in my home. Upon confirmation, the company installed the unit the very same day!!! I immediately experienced the difference in my drinking water as well as my shower. As a result of the remarkable service I received, I now have a membership with Benjamin Franklin Plumbing!!!
Product: Emergency water heater replacement. I didn't have time to shop around and felt it was overpriced, based on prior experience, but not certain. Service: BFP took call readily and had plumber out to properly quickly. Courteous and polite. Willing to explain the work performed. Upon delivery, 1st replacement water heater had a very noticeable dent in top of tank. No complaints by plumber when I mentioned and requested another replacement. Very professional and courteous service. Be prepared to put a dent in your wallet.
