Plumber could not have been nicer and was very thorough in addressing the problem. Fee was reasonable given the time spent to fix the problem. Office staff were proactive and organized when I called to schedule service. Communication was adequate in terms of keeping me apprised of the timing of the service call.
We have been using Western Rooter & Plumbing for our condominium complex. We had a kitchen drain clog this morning so I called Western. Joan at the office was very courteous and helpful. Albert came out a couple of hours later. He couldn't be more professional and courteous. He fixed the drain in no time and was very clean and organized. He is excellent! I highly recommend Western and Albert.
Art did an amazing job, front to back. I am SO grateful to him for figuring out our issue from the getgo, which wasn't easy. We hired two other companies to come try and figure out why our hot water kept going cold occasionally. They both assured us that it had to be the mixing valve or cartridge failure. I spent SO much unnecessary (wasted) time changing them out, doing some plumbing on my own.. it was all a waste.. because I didn't call Western Rooter first. The other guys kept saying our water heater checked out. All these tests, no problem. Finally we called Western Rooter as a last resort because my friend highly recommended them, and Thank God we did! Because they finally solved it! They said it's the water heater, and I was like, "are you sure?? The other guys tested it and both said it's fine!" apparently not all tests are equal or the other guys were just not as smart as Art at Western Rooter. I was astonished.. but this is the difference between true, I mean TRUE professionals, and somehow these hacks that get by somehow. Thank you for being available to me! You truly saved the day and allowed us to have nice hot showers again without worrying about them going cold. Highly recommend! PS, CJ was our billing guy, and was great to work with as well!
No one showed up during the designated time (9-11). They showed up at 12 after I called. The technicians said that they will email the quote the next day and up to now I have not received it- it's been over a day already. The only thing I received was a rate their feedback/review their service
I appreciate the after hours dispatch service; therefore, I have no problem with the price charged. However, I don't like the pressure and guilt of getting me to do something that's clearly outside of my control.
So we just had Western Rooter out like a week or two ago and they did a great job. Totally unrelated to our hot water tank issue we started noticing a damp dank smell in one of our bathrooms. The joys of a 1950's house. We also had a drainpipe on the back porch from the previous owner that we wanted capped off to modern standards. Justin could arrive early but he did not show up unexpectedly he called to make sure that it was okay for him and Diego to arrive early. Then long story short - once again Western Rooter came through. Justin and Diego were great. They cleared the drain on the back porch (which probably hadn't been done ever) and shortened the pipe and capped it to stop any overflow. Then they crawled under the house and reported back with video to explain that the smell could be coming from decaying cast iron pipes that were improperly connected to ABS. Justin also explained that it could also be a faulty vented pipe. However, he explained that it's difficult to determine the exact root cause of where the sewer gas was coming from. However, he explained in detail why we should deal with the horizontal issues before exploring vertical pipe issues. I am always skeptical of someone trying to take advantage of me, but Justin went over every step he recommended and explained why it was important. After they installed the new pipe, he secured it so there wouldn't be any movement. He and Diego tested everything and then cleaned up like they had never been here. Justin also showed us a video of the completed job. We were not happy that we had such a large, unexpected expense, however, we're confident that the job was completed thoroughly and it was the best solution for our problem. I highly recommend (once again) Western Rooter. P.S. There's no more smell in the bathroom!
Some context -- we recently had our dishwasher fixed, and the tech noted that our hot water valve became busted, which greatly impacted the hot water temperature and pressure. Our hot water temp and pressure was completely fine before our dishwasher got fixed, so the valve likely busted while the tech was tinkering under the sink. I initially called a different plumbing company and their intermediary fix as opposed to fixing the valve itself, was to open up the wall and replace the piping to the kitchen sink since their diagnosis was that the pipes were blocked and corroded due to the house's galvanized piping. My initial thought was that there was NO WAY that the pipes decided to completely corrode one day, when it was completely fine the previous day. This eventually led to talks of replacing the entire house's piping, but that will be for another review.. I ended up calling Western Rooter and made an appointment -- Robert was our tech. He properly diagnosed the VALVE issue, gave me a timeline, and quote. He completed the work in a timely manner and fixed the issue entirely in the same day. He did not try to upsell anything. He answered our other questions, took a look at our water heater since it came from the pre-historic era, and gave us an initial estimate for replacement. GREAT SERVICE. We called Western Rooter sometime last year too for a different consultation, and they were the only ones to not make a job bigger than what we actually needed. Look, we know galvanized piping sucks and existed with the dinosaurs, but if we had thousands of dollars to drop then we would've asked for that in the first place. I was blind, but now I see the light -- I'll be hitting up Western Rooter for all our plumbing needs.
EDIT: I need to put my lone gripe upfront- we were initially quoted for an earthquake strap installation, but it was not installed and was not even present as a line item on our final invoice. That was disappointing, and the tech explained that it would have required bolting into our cement foundation. Maybe he did not have the proper equipment to execute that specific job? He was performing the entire install by himself. He said it would be okay, and after searching around the internet it is a requirement by law for new and replacement water heaters to be anchored or strapped to resist falling during earthquakes. So we will have to do this ourselves. Now on to the review. Impressive response time through Yelp's "Projects" tab, even though our water heater issue occurred over the weekend! They came out and assessed all of our water heater issues and let us know that our unit was still under the manufacturer's warranty. It was not purchased from Western Rooter, so we were urged to call and get replacement parts, and then we could call them back to repair our unit for us. This would take well over a week and we would be without hot water. We chose to purchase a unit from Western Rooter, as it would have a 6 year parts warranty and 1 year on workmanship. There were other issues with our (self-installed) water heater, so thought it would be best to move ahead with a replacement. This will be our last natural gas water heater, hopefully, as California law is mandating that sales will be banned after 2030. Our old unit was removed from our basement, and they installed a new water heater, a water heater shut off valve, gas sediment trap, gas shut off valve, new gas flex line, and new water supply lines.
I’m sorry to give bad review for this company. The first 3 times I use them I had no problem. Well This company is family owned and they have family working for them as couples to show up . The last time I called~ I got Justin and Elias to show up for a simple clogged toilet in our master bathroom. We have been in our house 50 years. I only had a clogged toilet. in the past Several years…By my own fault ! I have to say~ When Justin and Elias came out, they gave me a scare pitch that scared me I was vulnerable and my husband couldn’t make a decision as he’s not able to. I blame myself for making a rash decision and it ended costing $ 32,000 ! Like I said, I blame myself for making a rush decision. They scared me while I was going through another hard time not only with my husband with dementia and water coming in our house at the same time from all the rains in November. II only have myself to blame when all I wanted was my toilet unclogged. As I said before, it’s just my husband and myself we only use a little bit of toilet paper, so it was not a clogging problem as they tried to tell me from our house being older, I cannot with good faith Recommend this family owned company. I reached out several times and the owner never even bothered to contact me. Take it for what it is. Just careful when you make a decision when it’s gonna cost you $32,000 out of your pocket.. Thank you, Justin and Elias. I hope you lay your head on the pillow making all the money you did for a vulnerable lady.
I major plumbing issues with our home. I requested quotes via Yelp from numerous plumbing companies. Western Rooster the first company to reply and I am glad they did so. After receiving quotes from over six different companies, I made an appointment with Western Rooter to my home to address three different issues. The first time I utilized this company, the service tech arrived fifteen minutes prior to the scheduled time which is a good thing. The tech took a look at the issue and immediately got to work. This project of a very clogged shower drain took all of ten minutes. Next up was repairing a leaky toilet which the tech repaired in ten minutes and last up was replacing a very old, leaking and rusty kitchen faucet. This project took longer (approx one hour) as the tech had to drive to Home Depot to purchase hardware that was accidentally left out of the new faucet package. When all was said and done, I was extremely happy with the complete work. The tech was very professional, understanding and friendly. On another occasion, I had to replace a bathroom faucet which I tried to do myself and was having a nightmare. Rather than break the sink or anything else (which I have been known to do on several occasions), I called Western Rooter to get the job done correctly. A new tech came out and had everything replaced within 25 minutes. Once again, I was very happy and satisfied with the work. This will be my go to plumbing company for any and all future projects
Well, I wish I didn't have to write a review about replacing a sewer line! That said, Western Rooter was terrific and truly impressive. After the first friendly call to them they arrived promptly to assess the unfortunate situation. I was lucky enough to be connected with Elias. He was exceptionally kind, friendly and super patient with all of my questions, explaining everything in detail, sometimes several times. Once he confirmed and explained the scope of the job, he soon had two teams at my home and man, did they get to work! It was really something to witness as they dug and dug and dug through roots and rocks to get to the sewer line to fully assess the issue before progressing with the repair. Long story short-ish, the crews worked well into the evening, erecting work lights to make sure the project was completed the same day. And it was pretty remarkable to see the area cleaned up reset afterwards. We had a small issue with a sprinkler line that had to be sealed but Elias came right back in the morning to take care of it. Elias, we're grateful to you and your team, you did a fantastic job leading them and taking care of a huge issue with minimal inconvenience to our family. We've already used Western again to help out with some smaller plumbing issues inside the home. I would absolutely recommend these guys for your plumbing needs, they tackled a difficult issue head on and did so very efficiently and professionally. Thank you!
We discovered rusty pipe stains on the ceiling right below the guest room bathtub after a 24-hour community-wide water shutoff, which had led us to fill the tub for water storage. Our home warranty assigned a contractor, who cut into the ceiling below the bathtub to locate the issue and quoted $950 to fix the pipes, with a total of $2,700 including restoration. We thought this was excessive, so we contacted Western Rooter & Plumbing because of their high ratings — and we’re so glad we did. Omar came the next day, carefully inspected the problem, and determined the leak was caused by a faulty drain seal connected to the bathtub shoe pipe. He gave us two options: a full pipe replacement (which would require full board removal for a seamless ceiling, eliminating the need for further drying or restoration) or simply fixing the drain seal. He honestly recommended the drain repair, quoted $350, and completed it in just 15 minutes. He tested everything thoroughly, treated our home like his own with care and thoroughness, explained all options clearly, and recommended keeping the ceiling hole open for a week to ensure complete drying. We are very happy with his genuine and professional approach — it saved us significant time and thousands of dollars. We now know a reliable plumber in town which is such peace of mind for a new home owner. Highly recommend!

I used Western Rooter back in Jan to fix a leaky shower head, replace a kitchen faucet, and replace a garbage disposal. I waited a bit before writing this review because I wanted to make sure everything was working properly. When I first called Western Rooter, I must say the customer service representative was very friendly. She explained that they don't give estimates over the phone, but they do offer free in‑person estimates with no obligation. A few days later, two technicians--Scott (the main plumber) and Josue (his assistant)--came to my home to do the estimate. They inspected everything and gave me a quote of around $1,200 I think. Since I wasn't sure whether that price was fair, I told them I planned to get another estimate from a different plumbing company. Scott said he would check with the corporate office. He then came back with a revised price of $1,000. When I stated I was a new customer, he gave me an additional new customer discount of $50, so the final price was $950. Scott and Josue completed all the work in about half a day. They were very professional and courteous throughout the process. They took the time to explain what they were doing both before and during the repairs. So far, everything has been working well.
I had a leak under my kitchen sink and called Western Rooter on Monday. They were able to come out the very next day, which I really appreciated. Two technicians came out, both named Victor, and they were excellent. They quickly found the obvious leak in the P-trap, but they also caught a second issue I hadn't noticed with the garbage disposal leak. They explained what was happening, showed me the problem, and fixed both leaks in under an hour. What really stood out was how courteous and polite they were throughout the whole visit. They were respectful of my home, clearly explained what they were doing, and made the whole process easy and stress-free. What I liked most was how thorough they were. It wasn't just a quick patch, they made sure everything was properly aligned, sealed, and no longer dripping before they left. They also removed and hauled away the old trash compactor parts, which was a nice extra that I didn't have to deal with myself. Fast response, honest assessment, efficient work, and no upsell pressure. I'd absolutely call Western Rooter again and would recommend them to anyone needing plumbing help.
