I recently had the pleasure of working with Jacob from Waldrop Heating and Air, and I couldn’t be more impressed with his service. From the moment he arrived, Jacob was professional, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about heating and cooling systems. He took the time to thoroughly assess our situation and explained everything in a way that was easy to understand. I appreciated his attention to detail and the care he took in addressing our concerns. It was clear that he genuinely wanted to ensure our comfort. His dedication to customer satisfaction truly sets him apart. Thank you, Jacob, for your excellent service! We greatly appreciate your hard work and expertise. I highly recommend Waldrop Heating and Air, especially if you have the chance to work with Jacob!
I couldn't be more satisfied. A great staff to setup the repair service and a tremendous job with the follow-up to the end. I can't say enough about my Tech, Ryan, absolutely awesome person. Gentleman, polite, courteous and a wealth of knowledge answering all of my questions. Went the extra mile with no hesitation. Also offered things to do if it happens again. Ryan is definately a hugh asset to the Waldrop Company! First time use, highly recommend to anyone.
Had Melton & Blake, Come to my home for a broken water pipe this morning. Told them on the phone when I called about the problem the day before I could get home until around 9am. They got there at like 8:15am or so. He called me and I told them I wasn't home yet. They were like will go get some breakfast and come back just let us know when your on the way home. So I did they were very friendly and very understanding about the situation. When they got back Melton come inside looked at it all and talk me thru the whole thing. He was very informative about what was going on. Then we talked and he said let me go get my partner Blake and then Blake came in and walked me thru the rest of the process. Two very polite gentlemen very friendly. Those two guys made me feel like family thru the whole thing. We Laughed and cutting up but very professional guys. Two people they you could trust and help you make the right choice to fix the problem. Hands down I would choose this company over again to fix my plumbing work or hvac. If I have a problem again I'll definitely ask for those two gentlemen. Had the installation crew come on monday after the two estimator came friday. The installation crew was David and Gavin the first day and boy they didnt know what there were getting into. They thought they were just going to redo a line for my sink and after getting into it they ended up doing a whole house replumb. They were here all week up until Thursday. They were great sports about it all. Very professional, friendly, and didnt mine me watching and being in the way as they completely destroyed my basement floor to get to all the pipe under the house. It was worth it all once they were finished. After they were finished it looked like no one had even been here. This company is very dependable and reasonable with pricing and more. I would definitely have David, Gavin, there third gentlemen back out to do any of my plumbing work. They are definitely top notch. And this company is top notch as well. They guided me thru the whole thing. Will definitely use Waldrop again. Thanks to all involved.
I feel compelled to update my original review after learning something that truly shocked and angered me. A neighbor around the corner, whose home is nearly identical to mine, recently had Piedmont Gas install the same gas line setup I requested — with a quick disconnect (which Waldrop told me I’d need to do myself afterward). His final cost? $300. Yes, you read that right — $300, compared to the $1,700+ I paid Waldrop for a similar setup. When I heard that, I was stunned. I felt taken advantage of. I had hoped that by writing a detailed letter to Waldrop’s CEO about my experience, someone would respond — but I never heard back. If you're considering Waldrop, I strongly encourage you to read my original experience below. I hope it helps others avoid what I went through.. ________________________________________ Original Review (from December 3, 2024) We hired Waldrop to install a gas line for a portable generator. What followed was over four weeks of delays, poor communication, and subpar service. • Initial quote: On October 4th, a technician quoted us just under $1,800. I asked about cost reduction options (we’re on a fixed income), but none were offered. My wife and I agreed to move forward for the sake of safety and professionalism. • Missed deadlines: Work began October 11th. We were told the inspector would come the following week. No one showed, and it took repeated calls to even get a response. • Communication issues: Calling the office was frustrating — constant recordings, AI, or long hold times. When we did get someone, they often lacked answers or never followed up. I finally spoke to James Kirby, who admitted the inspector hadn’t even been contacted and was surprised by the poor quality shown in their own technician’s photos. • Rework and mess: The crew returned October 24th to reinstall the line “properly.” They left a mess, chipped our sidewalk, and got paint on our siding. Even the state inspector commented that a regulator was missing, though he passed it due to the low pressure of our setup. Waldrop did install the regulator after the inspection and final adjustments. • I have many more details, though this should explain the basic reasons I am posting such a negative review. We wrote to Jamie Porterfield (Waldrop) on November 7th. As of December 3rd — still no response. This experience left us sadly disappointed. Others may have had better outcomes, but our experience was unprofessional, overpriced, and extremely frustrating.
Waldrop came into my home and made a bigger mess than the work they were supposed to do. They told me I needed a new water heater, even though there was nothing wrong with my old one other than it was 12 years old. They ripped up my bathroom floor by dragging my washing machine out instead of using a lift. They told me I needed a new sink because the one I had didn't have brackets on the back. They put in a damaged one to replace it and told me they didn't put brackets on the back because there wasn't enough room (so why did it need to be replaced in the first place?). Then they took my original sink without permission. I had informed them I have 4 cats, yet they left the air return vent open and one of my cats got stuck in the vents for 2 1/2 days. They refused to come and rescue her, so I had to hire someone else to do it. While she was stuck she had to use the vent as a litter box, thereby cancelling the cleaning job Waldrop was supposed to do. The vet bill came to almost $600 because of her being trapped in the vents for so long. Now I have to hire someone else to come clean it again. They charged me $9400 without giving me an itemized bill to know exactly how much I was paying for what work. They have refused to answer my many calls and messages. I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy! I have pictures of the damage they caused.
I would recommend that you not trust them with your home. Waldrop installed my upstairs unit improperly and refuses to do anything about it or even return my phone calls. I noticed a problem less than 2 weeks ago when a water stain formed under the unit on the 2nd floor ceiling. In checking the system, I gathered that the water came from an overflow pipe on what I now know to be the condensate line. For some reason, Waldrop installed the trap without a pan under it to catch the water. So there is nothing between the opening and the plywood platform. Plus, the pan has a sensor in it to shut off the system if it detects water. Since my trap is outside the pan, the system will keep running forever until you notice the water running into the living space. I guessed pretty quickly that the line had frozen where it exited the building envelope (there is a run of several feet of uninsulated pvc running from the brick to my gutter). I called Waldrop for service, and was told I had to pay the after hours rate to get anyone out. The tech then came and confirmed the line was frozen, and said he did not have a ladder to access the roof and fix it. After some back and forth, he borrowed (and broke) my wife's hairdryer to try to heat the portion he could access in the attic. He eventually was able to thaw it out and charged me over $400 for his work. When I asked about fixing the pipe so it did not overflow into the house, he said he would put it down for someone to follow up with me. No one ever called. I called and left a message for the manager. He has not called me back. Since Waldrop had no interest in correcting their obvious installation error, I put a pan under the trap and put a water detector in the pan to at least alert me to a problem. I have to shut the system down manually, but at least I have some warning when there is a problem. Since installing the pan, water has repeatedly backed up into it. It seems this has probably happened all along whenever the temperature drops below freezing, but the amount of water spilling out was never enough to run off the platform (usually a few ounces at a time) and into the ceiling until we had sustained cold a few weeks back. Waldrop apparently does not care about the shoddy install since it has the money I paid them to install the unit. Meanwhile I am out the damage to my ceiling, the service charge, the money I spent on the pan and the water detector, the broken hairdryer, and the time I have to spend cleaning up the water when it overflows and to check the end of the pipe for ice (so I can pour hot water down the line to try to free it up before it completely clogs up). Plus, the tech used a pole to hit the pipe and try to break off the ice from an upstairs window. The elbow that used to be on the end of the pipe has since fallen off and is sitting in the gutter. That means even when the pipe is not blocked, the water shoots out over the gutter directly on to my condensing unit below.
Waldrop Plumbing has been an absolutely fantastic resolution to my many many conflicts, which all tied back to having plumbing knowledge and plumbing skills, in addition to teamwork and full-circle communication. I tried the Google self-help, and actually changed the internal parts of my toilets tanks. I had already printed the paperwork to act on my dishwasher warranty in the near future. Then the storm really hit when my Terminix rep told me that there was standing water in the crawlspace. (Shout out to my Daddy for insisting that I pour a full concrete slab under my log cabin ; ) My son and I went under the cabin last night and removed 30 gallons of water in about 2 hours. Then my nephew and brother came over and turned the hot water heater off late last night. Thankful to them for saving me hours of more water removal. I believe my crawlspace was covered between 20% & 25%. I was already relieved because Sarah (never seen her but feel like she has been my friend forever) and I sent 28 emails back and forth to reach the exact plan that I wanted to roll out. Sarah answered my original email request instantly, unlike the other 4 local plumbing companies. She impressed me at the very beginning. That's how you grab the sale, kudos to Sarah. It's get a little blurry because I do have a complicated life, but Madison came in the picture after that and was also a positive reinforcer of comfirming the plans and details that I had hoped to bring to life, on my schedule and at my convenience. Then, as I was hoping, Noah showed up right on time this morning. Noah was my sales rep. He spent 90 minutes assessing all my plumbing issues. Most were way above my knowledge level but he brought down his vocabulary to include simple concepts for me to understand the profound depth of what was going on. Noah then went over all my options, in depth. Answered all my questions and right like that, another crew was rolling in to begin the resolution we agreed upon. Holden and Hayden worked the list like magic. They installed a PRV, a new expansion tank, rebuilt both toilets, and made accommodations to the 2 lowboy water heaters that I have to get our normal lifestyle up and running again. This nightmare has just been a domino effect until Waldrop Plumbing became part of the equation. Hayden and Holden knew what they were doing, confidence is a big thing in installed sales, they fully have mine. I commend them on their performance, attitude and hands-on knowledge. From start to finish, it has been 6 hours of non-stop action. It almost felt like it was staged. I am sooooo happy and will definitely recommend Waldrop Plumbing for professional service at a reasonable price. With a career including managing The Home Depot Installed Sales Division in Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, I will confidently say, Waldrop Plumbing could not have done a better full-circle turn-key job for me! Thank you for going above and beyond! I am blessed. My crawlspace is dry and life is good, again.
David Kellett here ***BUYER BEWARE*** i am an industrial maintenance engineer of 35 years. I know more than most about HVAC systems. I purchased two complete systems including duct work, $18k 3 years ago. Waldrop had best price and the install project was great, second to none. I purchased a maintenance contract which is where problems started. Waldrop must pay their technicians some form of additional incentive during the annual maintenance inspections. At every visit they tried to sell me something I did not need. Once was for an updated control board which does not even exist for my model of units. Once was for a dehumidifier. the issue was they had my fan speed turned down too low, not yielding enough air changes per hour. This is an old HVAC trick by the way. Once they claimed a fan capacitor was going out, I agreed to replace the capacitor. However, I wanted the old one to keep because it was not yet totally failed. Once I asked for the old one they all of a sudden did it for free, and did not need to charge me because in the end it was actually a warranty claim they were going to double dip the payment if I had not ask. Nothing major..... only questionable ethics. Do your homework. If a company feels the need to ask you "how can I make you smile today" ask yourself is this exaggeration covering for something else. Similar to those commercials where they place their hand over their heart and say to "experience the difference. " Finally I learned my lessons about any "purchased maintenance agreement". Realize first there is no need to have your units serviced more often than two or in some cases three years, other than monthly filter changes you can do yourself. Second you are a captured audience for the service company to 1) find minor issues to make a big issue, 2) they create issues for you to have to pay them to fix, 3) worse yet they tell you of a problem that don't exist and you pay to fix the problem that don't exist..... because you don't know any better. I'm ticked because of greed. I paid for new systems and a maintenance agreement and it was not enough for Waldrop. Buyer Beware.
I leave this review to help others with plumbing issues. Last summer we had and issue with a hairline crack in a fitting out where the water line comes into the house. This is actually an issue our slumlord I mean landlord should be responsible for as he "rents" us the land and is "responsible" for all of that -- until something involving money happens. Anyway, 135 dollars just to show up and some 1000 plus to spend a couple of hours digging up the fitting out by our mailbox and replacing it. Fast forward to the past couple of months. Here in our brand new manufactured home we had a drip beneath the kitchen and bathroom sinks that seemed to come and go. It did swell the wood in the cabinet of the kitchen. Man came over, $135 just to show up, another 600 plus to walk around with booties on his feet telling us, well just about anything. Problem NOT solved we noticed. Called and: "we'll be over on Monday to fix it and of course it's 135 just to show up." No. Do not come to my house ever again. Got the name of a plumber we were given months (!)j ago by a helpful neighbor, Joe of "Plumbco" who came over when he could and fixed the problem, explained it to us and put in an access panel for our shower pipes in the matter of an hour or two. Bill? For all work, well under 300 bucks. Luckily, this home has a seven year warranty from the manufacturer and that warranty company has paid us back for the home issues promptly -- thanks to my noticing that statement of coverage on the information manual for this Champion Home. I will add too that one of the persons sent out tried to get me to put in a State Farm insurance claim on the kitchen sink damage as he has a friend starting a business involved with that. But this would have been a BAD idea as this was no accident but a result of cheap plumbing fixtures used in the initial home installation. I do not like the American way of plumbing and other stuff, based on volume and speed -- not saving you from spending your hard-earned money.
I contacted Waldrop on behalf of my grandmother on a Monday for an AC repair. I was told a tech would return my call by the end of the day to schedule a time for service. I never got a call back and I finally called them on Tuesday to follow up. I was told a tech would be out on Thursday. The tech arrived and completed the service for $2,500. On Friday the AC unit was still not working properly and that it was 91 degrees inside the home. I called them back and was told a tech would be out on Saturday. The tech arrived this time and we were told that the AC needed more Freon (which would cost an additional $275.) I then called and was finally able to speak with a manager on Monday around 5pm. Was told that the additional problem could not be detected and that they would be able to add the Freon for the price of $124 if I purchased a yearly Warranty Plan with them. I agreed and was told that a tech would contact me tomorrow with a service date/time. Again I was never contacted. I called them on Friday to follow up and was told that it was just a error on the manager's part and that they would get someone right out. The tech is on site now and I was told that the billing would have to be discussed further on Monday. Also, I had just recently had a brand new HVAC unit installed (which costs $8,500) by Waldrop in May 2018. I have been back and forth on the phone with them regarding my Building Code Permit inspection. They kept telling me that I couldn't get the inspection scheduled until they mailed the proper paperwork to me. I called numerous times and each time was told that it was being mailed out. It still has not been mailed as of today. I just spoke with them again and still was not given any explaination as to why it was not mailed, and that it would definitely be mailed today. Very dissatisfied.
If I could give Waldrop negative stars, I would. We called Waldrop because our heat stopped working downstairs. A technician came out and said we had cracks in the heat exchangers of BOTH of our units. She also said we were in danger of carbon monoxide poisoning and shut off our heat. She sent a salesman out in the afternoon, and he quoted us a bill of $18,000+ to replace our units with a "basic" system. An "efficient" system would put us in the ballpark of $24,000+. He also warned us that we should buy 3 or 4 additional carbon monoxide detectors (we already have 2), and he insinuated that we were in grave danger if we ran our heat until they replaced our units. In the meantime, we called a second company whose technician said we had no cracks. He charged us a service charge and left. He said we should use our heat and sleep calmly and safely that night. A third company came out yesterday. The technician affirmed the second company's opinion. He even took our units apart and investigated to make sure there weren't any cracks. The "cracks" that the Waldrop technician noted were actually creases from manufacturing. He didn't want to charge a service fee at all. He said if anything, we might need a new flame sensor. Both the second and third companies told us that Waldrop uses scare tactics to sell people expensive units. I'm appalled and dismayed that these people are taking advantage of others. They scared us, manipulated us, and tried to use our concern for our family's safety in order to make money. If you are currently using Waldrop or considering them, I beg you to get a second opinion. Don't fall prey to their scam.
Our Air Conditioner quit. I called Waldrop but they could not come until perhaps the next day. I called another outfit and got an appointment for late that afternoon. Yea! Then the Waldrop truck pulled up. OK, I and my bed-bound wife needed cooling. Do you remember when you would take a car in for brake pads and the mechanic would find a leak in the brake line and a worn rotor, oh yeah and the shocks need replacement! The technician quickly found the problem, a burnt relay, and had to replace the whole board it was on. *Let me give you some of my bono fides: Forty years in motors and controls. Three years in instrumentation. Three years with electrical contractors.* Had I been physically able, I would have soldered on an "ice cube relay". $15 in parts and half an hour labor to repair the board with parts I would have had on the truck. The tech had to drive across town to get a new board, (roughly $350). While he had, me he tried pretty hard to convince me that I needed new capacitors for both motors, one was priced $260+, the other $280+ plus labor. I declined. I have replaced these type capacitors before. Never paid more than $10-$25 each, often less, at Grainger, Lowes, etc. So, I got a $15 problem fixed for $350, plus labor, total about $450. I see that the last good review they got was back in 2018
My water heater stopped working. The technician said I needed a new water heater. I let him replace it for 2,500, and STILL had no hot water for 2 days after the replacement. They sent another tech out a few days later, and he said the my issue was electrical. I replaced a breaker myself and have had no issues with hot water since. A simple fix ended up costing thousands, all because the original tech wasn't thorough with his diagnosis, even after I paid an expensive diagnostic fee. Waldrop stood behind the original employee and only offered a $130 refund. This happened a few months ago, but I was just reminded about how upset I was because a lady named Esther, from their office, just called and left a message about scheduling someone to come out and perform a maintenance check on my air conditioner for $79. So that $79 can turn into another thousand dollar upsell? No ma'am!! I hate it when companies take advantage of those who don't know enough to question what they recommend. That's dirty. And although I can't do anything about it at this point, I'll make sure others know my experience so that they can at least make an informed decision. It's not my desire to get anything for free, neither do I want to needlessly hurt a business. However, my experience wasn't good...and they shouldn't be able to just get away with it.
Today is Nov. 19 and it's 7:44 PM. I have been waiting for Waldron all day to do the maintenance on the Over $9000 unit I purchased from them. I have had multiple calls telling me they were coming. At 4:00 PM the call I had said they would call me in 30 minutes to tell me they would be here. I called at 6:00 and was told they were busy and had a lot of customers with no heat. They were the ones that set Nov. 19 for my maintenance which I pay a good bit for. At 6:21 PM I had another call telling me they were going to do me a favor and come in the morning between 7:00 and 10:00. It is their policy to not set a time because they can't live up to the time therefore since I've waited all day I was getting this special favor. The problem is I have a Dr. apt. At 10:00. I said are you telling me no one is going to show up now, I have waited all day. She said if I wanted to stay up till midnight someone would come. Hey gang, it's 7:52 now, what's your bet? Very poor way to treat a customer, don't think I will renew and who knows if or when this pre paid maintenance will take place. Very poor business dealings with a good customer so beware. Linda
Great work the two plumbers did. BUT the Salesman overcharged us big time. We got confused with all the pricing and information the salesman kept telling us. I told him we were very confused. (We are seniors) he was pushy .... Telling us how inexpensive Waldrop was .... Etc... we ended up paying over $1200 for a not high priced new toilet ... the shut off valve & line alone was $300. We never saw invoice with all broken down u til I checked our email. We also got a new water pressure valve which ran $800. The salesman scared us that it was beginning to wear out and if it did our floor would have to be busted up because it ran through the front of house to garage. Pressure was 110. The Salesman pushed to have work done that day ! I guess he did not want us to cancel ... we wanted a different toilet and he said it would cost more to install and they would have to order it .... We ended up getting same toilet we had installed last year from Lowe's. The plumbers were professional but the Salesman... not honest. Rating our experience with the Salesman below. The plumbers we give 5 stars.
