Our technician Eric Guerrero from Tietze Plumbing, Heating and Air was amazing! He was friendly and resolved our plumbing issue very quickly. He then went an extra step and checked the water pressure and discovered it was high and adjusted it. He was very thorough and professional!! Thank you!
Josh thoroughly explained the work to me before he got started and let me know the cost up front. Very fair price, and the work was performed expertly and efficiently. Josh was polite, well-mannered and appropriately attired. Tietze sent a photo of the service provider prior to his arrival, which was also much appreciated.
Dylan did a great job installing a replacement hot water heater. He thoroughly answered all of my questions before and during the process and ensured the warranty on the old unit was honored. He walked me through the completed installation and made sure I understood the new controls and settings. Very nice and knowledgeable. This is the second set of work they have done for me the first being a whole house replumb due to aging pipes. Excellent service both times. Will definitely be using them for future needs.
Well. First experience was really good. A nice gentleman came out to check my water softener. It was about 15 years old and I was tired of the expensive repairs. It was from a huge national chain. He made me a reasonable quote and replaced it that afternoon. Did a great job. We talked about a whole house filter and a New RO system. He gave me some idea of the price and told me when I was ready to call and they'd give me a quote. So a couple months later I call for a quote and hope to get the same guy. The guy that came was a different person. Didn't seem to interested. Started helping himself to the candy bowl without asking. We just wanted a couple of quotes. He couldn't even do that. Said he'd get back with us. So about 5 days goes by and no quote. Nothing fancy just the whole house filter and RO system and we currently had an RO system just was 15 years old so the plumbing was in. He finally gave us an outrageous quote. We ended up buying an RO system and replacing it ourselves. It took 30 minutes. Saved about $400 in labor. I then was thinking about the whole situation and thought they might like to know about my experience. I sent in a very nice email detailing the good and the bad experience I had with them. It's been a few weeks and I've still heard nothing.
Beware- $680 for one hour worth of work and a handful of fittings you can buy at any big box store.
"Wolves in sheep's clothing" Beware! I feel so sad and stupid for trusting that this company is reputable and has excellent reviews. I was given an arrival window for consultation between 1pm and 4pm. The Technician did called a bit after 5pm to explain that he was held up and running about 2 hour behind. I truly appreciated the call since I felt that he was demonstrating accountability. Around 6:40 pm the tech arrived. Tech was very polite, patient, professional, and engaged well in explaining needed work. He took about 10-15 minutes to expose the water pressure regulator and show that there was a leak and the cost to repair it would be around $1500. Unfortunately, this is were I feel taken by the wolf. I trusted the estimate due to presentation and charisma of the tech. I agreed to the service and price. I decided to do some research before the next day of job needed and to my surprise the quote given was almost 3x more than estimates online. I decided to get second opinion and indeed charges quoted where about twice higher. I canceled the service and received a call from the company's office manager, Becky, that I owe $425 for the consultation: tech coming out, gas (company is maybe 5 miles from my home), and exposing the line. Of course, I was not happy with this price and explain that a hole was dug and water removed to show water pressure regulator leak. The tech took about 10 minutes top 15 minutes to show regulator and leak and I am responsible for $425 for a maybe 15 minute consultation . Office manager agreed to reduce it to $225 and provided an invoice indicating an hour work (not true), two techs coming for consultation (not true) and "PB1B Basic Pressure Control System Renovation: Basic Pressure Control System Renovation Single isolation system Performance and safety testing, six month warranty" (I am not a plumber but I do not believe that none of the work that is listed was done) for God's sake 6 months warranty for exposing the broken/ leaking water pressure regulator? Please take your time to ask questions. I am not sure if this happened to me since I am an ignorant female who should have asked more questions and done research before agreeing to pay 2x - 3x more for a service which was canceled once I educated myself but now I am left with a broken water pressure regulator and a $425/ 15 minute consultation (negotiated down to $225). I am feeling discouraged with humanity! Best way I can describe this experience is: "Beware of Wolves in Sheep's Clothing"
On 12/16/2017 I called Tietze Plumbing for an estimate to install a water heater. I mentioned that I was going to buy the water heater from Lowe's and needed them to pick up water heater and install. She quoted $550 to $750. When the guys came out to look where it will be installed I mentioned that they would have to pick up water heater. They said I would also need an expansion. So I purchased everything that was needed. After calculating their estimate they said it would cost $800 just to install. The next day they installed water heater and said it would cost $974 just to install. I reminded them of their previous quote. He just shrugged his shoulders. After they left, by nighttime my water still was not hot. I called, and he suggested I check circuit breaker , so I did. After flipping switch and waiting a couple hrs it seemed like I might be getting hot water. The next day , still no hot water. After speaking w/someone from mfg. company, I was asked if they asked me to turn water on to purge the system, I said no. She then said , they might of damaged the heating element. I called Tietze, and after she spoke w/the installers, she said that they did everything they were suppose to. Because , I didn't purchased the water heater from them I was told they couldn't warrant the installation. It would cost $49 just to come out in addition to the cost of additional work. I was not happy w/the extra costs. I felt I already paid enough. The lady a couple days later said the reason why it cost more to install is because they had to pickup water heater and install expansion pump. The installers already knew that when they quoted $800 but then charged me $973 instead. I ended up having to call a different plumber. This other plumber was very nice and fixed the problem at no charge. He said I already paid enough for a poor installation job. I WILL NEVER CALL TIETZE PLUMBING AGAIN. THEY LIED TO ME, OVERCHARGED ME, DID NOT WANT TO WARRANT THEIR INSTALLATION. And I will continue to spread my review because it's not right that they rip people off.
I had a less-than-pleasant experience with Tietze Plumbing. My elderly mother called to get a quote about replacing a water heater because it's around 9 years old and about time for a replacement, and the technician - Eric according to the invoice - used some frustrating sales tactics that I did not appreciate. I've been flipping houses for over a decade, and have experience with subs, trades, these pressuring sales tactics. Specifically, Eric was pushy about trying to find out who else we were getting quotes from, wanted to know who told us the water heater was 9 years old (looking up the model told us - concerning question from a plumber), asked my mom what she would do if hot water stopped working tomorrow (common tactic to pressure a sale when you're up front about collecting quotes from multiple companies), and before he would show my mom a quote, he asked her several times what her budget was. At this point I was frustrated and chimed in, "$500, we're asking *you* for a quote" (for anyone unfamiliar with water heater prices, they're about a grand to purchase sans labor, and the lowball "budget" was deliberate due to frustration). While I understand the purpose of this (setting expectations), the delivery was awful and pushy. Looking at other reviews, others seem happy with this company. But I am not at all pleased with how Eric handled this very simple quote request, and will not use or recommend him or this company for any of my flips or renovation projects in San Antonio and surrounding areas, and would advise others to be leery of "urgency sales tactics" - a good plumber does not approach a situation like this unless there is a solid reason for urgency concern - like, if she had mentioned issues with hot water, which she did not, this is a proactive, preventative maintenance, which was clearly communicated up front.
I needed a simple plumbing fix, to change out the wax ring on the toilet. I called Tietze on Monday and working with my schedule they arrived on Tuesday. The timeframe was midday to 4 PM. There was a $49 service fee which would be added into the total if they did the work. The estimate could only be given once the plumber arrived. An experience journeyman and an apprentice arrived around 12:30 PM. They were both very polite and explained what they were doing as they went about the job. The journeyman explained that it would be more expensive if the flange was broken and needed to be replaced as well as changing out the wax ring. I asked for a quote if the flange and wax ring needed to be replaced and was given $142.50. They spent a maximum of 30 minutes getting the job done and while the apprentice was caulking the toilet, the journeyman went out to the truck to write up the invoice. He did not inform me that he was checking the water pressure on the outside faucet which did cause a small problem later because the hose had not been reattached. However I expected since the flange did not have to be replaced the price to be lower than $142.50 but was told that was the actual price to have the wax ring changed and if the flange had to be replaced it would've cost about $100 more and he had misunderstood me when I had asked for a quote earlier. I asked for a senior discount and did up paying $135. I would use this company again but I might ask them to write out the quote and what it covered.
Feb. 27, 2021 Bill E. Beware- Incompetency & outrageous charges. ~ 8 months ago the first plumber attempted " REPAIR " a leaking outside faucet . First Plumber said he did not have the part & had to order it. Instead he ordered the entire faucet ~ $ 80 + for the faucet alone ..but did not install it . Instead he " cannilbalized " a washer & the stem ..installed them. He DID NOT GIVE ME THE OPTION TO RELACE THE ENTIRE FAUCET AS THE FOLLOW UP MASETER PLUMBER JAMES ( part owner) 1 week claimed. James first attempt to fix was to further tighten the stem. Fixed it ? ( no additional charge). Again faucet leaking .. When a follow up for this same faucet a different TIETZE plumber ( Robert ) informed me " This faucet should be replaced or install a different kind of faucet with an extension ...This Tietze quote was for $682.00. I took issue with his quote. His reply was " Only James can change the price..." I then called Tietze asking to speak with James explaining my trepidation . I was told he was off but would call me back next Monday....James never returned the call. Five days later Robert did a follow inquiry of my decision to replace the faucet. I informed him still NO CALL from James. As of this review ~ 1month later NO RETURN CALL from James ( part owner of Tietze ). I called another local Master plumber 4 days ago ..he replaced the faucet for $ 165.00.
Couldn't be happier with the service Tietze Plumbing, 5 stars isn't enough to express my gratitude for their service and professionalism. I called them on a Saturday to make an appointment because, my water heater was leaking and had completely turned off. On Sunday, Cody showed up, took pictures and explained what was wrong with my water heater. After discussing what needed to be done and agreeing to replacing the water heater, he prepped it in order to make the replacement easier for the technician that would make the installation of the new water heater. Cody, also annotated since Thanksgiving was this week he would place a rush on the order. On Monday I received a call that the heater would be installed on Tuesday. Tuesday morning, Travis showed up along with Dylan and they commenced to install the heater and within a couple of hours, I had a fully serviced and functioning water heater. Exceptional service, courteous and professional technicians who made sure everything was in order prior to leaving my home. I highly recommend Tietze Plumbing for any assistance or services required. On a scale of 1-10, they get a 10!!!!
My 90 year-old dad had a leak in the yard where it was completely saturated with water. SAWS said that they couldn’t send someone out until Friday. Another company that we called said they couldn’t come out till Friday as well. I called today at around 12 noon. Crystal was very polite and she checked right away to see if they had anyone that can go today. It was scheduled between 2 PM to 6 PM. Brian gave me a call, told me he was 30 minutes out at 1300. This was even before the scheduled time. Brian showed up to my dad’s house. My uncle was there to help. They identified the leak right away and Brian got to work on fixing it. He did some checks to see if it wasn’t leaking anywhere else and it wasn’t. My dad was completely overwhelmed with happiness because it was fixed the same day . I have nothing to compare the prices to, but a lot of the reviews on here said their prices were fair market prices and they had no fee for coming to look at it. Overall, I would recommend them and I would call them again if My dad ever has issues. Thanks, Brian and Crystal
I had a leak in the foundation pipes in the laundry slab. It was very stressful and I did not know who to call. I have used yelp reviews before, but I did not find them very reliable. To make a decision about what company to choose I relied on two colleagues who recommended Tietze plumbing. They were awesome!!! The company was very responsive and sent a plumber soon. The first guy had to open 4 holes on my walls to find the leak. It was not easy but once he identified the problem, the company sent 2 additional plumbers to cap and reconnect my pipes. They had to work 3 full days. They were courteous and explained the problem very well. I was giving estimates before the work was done and even options. Everything was fixed perfectly and I have no more leaks. Considering the amount of work they did, I felt the price was not terrible ($4000). I wish I had had the same luck with the guy who came to fix the drywall and paint afterwards!! I strongly recommend this company. Not sure why some people gave them bad reviews. The guy who fixed my pipes was Willie.
I had an excellent experience with Tietze Plumbing, Heating and Air! From the moment I contacted them, their team was responsive, courteous, and very helpful in setting up an appointment that worked with my schedule. The technician arrived on time, was highly professional, and took the time to thoroughly inspect the issue before explaining the solution in a clear and straightforward way. I really appreciated their honesty and attention to detail - they made sure everything was done correctly and didn’t rush through the job. The work was completed efficiently, and the area was left clean and tidy afterward. Their pricing was fair and transparent, with no hidden surprises. It’s clear they take pride in providing high-quality service and genuinely care about their customers. I would definitely recommend Tietze Plumbing, Heating and Air to anyone looking for reliable and trustworthy plumbing and HVAC services!
I had a water leak that was difficult to locate. Before I called Tietze, two plumbers looked for the leak but did not find it. Another plumber made an appointment but did not show up. I called Tietze and they sent Cody out. Without charge he looked around and found the leak in my front yard, and gave me a repair estimate for a fair price. Another plumber had charged me $250 to look around and he did not find the leak. Cody did not charge me for the estimate. I approved Cody's estimate, he went to work and quickly fixed the leak. I'm glad I found Tietze Plumbing and Cody. After posting this review, I had another plumbing issue. Tietze came out on a weekend and quickly fixed the problem. I'm so glad I found this company. I have found them to be competent and honest.
