Jack Simonson was great! Had 5 different companies for quotes in my sewer line. He was the most honest and transparent of the plumbers. He gave me a estimate onsite and did not try to upsell me like the others. Scottish Plumber made sure the hydro jet and stent was done timely and show me the before and after.
we had an amazing repair experience today in our basement fixing a broken pipe below the concrete slab which was leaking sewer gas. terrific crew came on a Saturday and did incredible job including the cleanup and an extra small item that was outside the scope of what we paid for. highly recommend and thanks for Google Gemini who recommended we contact them.
Elliot, the plumber, was awesome! He arrived early, quickly diagnosed the issue, and fixed the problem. He was super patient in answering all of my questions and was wonderful to work with. The Scottish Plumber was also great. They scheduled me for same-day estimate and repair and their quote was fair and better than other competitors.
The sewer was only partially cleaned, which was a limitation of our clean out size and placement, however the toilet was improperly reinstalled and is leaking from the bottom
i think i paid an awful lot of money for that job
I was a tad skeptical--the waiting messages using an AI British accent using Received Pronunciation (think BBC newscaster) and the "from $99" to clear a clog did not instill confidence--but figured I have them come out and give a quote and take it from there. Gotta say, completely professional, prompt and very clear about explained what they were doing. I have 6" cleanout but also have a bunch of trees, so am big into preventative maintenance. The father who ran the old sewage company we used for years retired and things went downhill. Their normal sewer rodding climbed up to ~$300 and they were in and out in the time it took to smoke a cigarette. I do not mind the price, which is fair IF the job is done right. I wanted to try a different company to see if the quality of the work was any different. Wow, huge difference! Two guys spent a good 40 minutes rodding with different cutters and made sure that the line was completely clear. Relatively cheap insurance, if just for a piece of mind, to have these guys out every 2-3 years to do a thorough rodding job. Trust me, if you've had a basement flood it's not something you want to repeat.
On a Sunday afternoon, we had a plumbing emergency. I started googling 24hr plumbers. I like to use local companies when ever possible, The Scottish Plumber is in Villa Park. The person that answered the phone was pleasant & knowledgeable. She gave me an estimated arrival for the plumber. He contacted me when he was 30min away. I appreciated the communication. Jack has been a licensed plumber for many years. He oversees everything his guys are doing. Everyone I met was polite, honest and easy to work with. After they cleared the toilet and main line, we discovered another blockage at the utility sink in the basement. The first plumber they sent couldn't clear the pipes. After I talked to Jack, he sent out Carlos. Carlos is amazing! He had to get creative and very dirty, but after only 10 minutes he had the blockage cleared. That sink hasn't drained so well in over 25years! Each time a plumber arrived and assessed the situation, they gave me a price quote and that's what I was charged. I definitely recommend The Scottish Plumber. And if you like bagpipe music, give them a call...it plays on their recording.
We just had Jack and Tom come out to our condo located in Westmont. They were on time, very professional, and honest when they checked out our bathtub that was clogged. We've had multiple plumbers check out the situation and they were the first to solve the issue I would highly recommend them to anyone. Our building was built in the 1960's and they were able to determine standard rodding would not work because we were dealing with drum trap issue. The other plumbers recommended opening up other bathroom walls to get a better idea of what was going on, which would've costed us thousands of dollars. Due to their outstanding industry knowledge they were able to diagnose the problem, resolve the drainage issue, and provide easy to follow instructions to ensure the situation doesn't get out of hand again. None of the other plumbers had the same industry knowledge as guys from The Scottish Plumbers. The really took the time to understand our issue and concerns which really made all the difference. We will be reaching out to The Scottish Plumber for our all our future plumbing needs, truly lifesavers!
I’m really appreciative of the work this crew did to fix a major issue under my home. I had a few different plumbers come out before them, and the range of solutions (and prices) was all over the place. The Scottish Plumber came in with an option that wasn’t cheap, but it was much less destructive than anything else I was hearing. Jack did a good job explaining everything in a clear, no-pressure way. He walked me through different scenarios depending on what they might find, which helped set expectations going in. The price felt fair for the scope of work, and they were able to get started pretty quickly. At one point it looked like the job might turn into a worst-case situation, but they stuck with it and got it handled within a couple of days. This has been an issue we’ve been dealing with for years, so it’s a relief to finally have it resolved. We saved our stairs and have a free flowing, newly lined sewage system. They also provided a solid guarantee and took the time to explain exactly what was done, which I appreciated.
Elliot is a thorough, professional, and proactive plumber. He went above and beyond while he was at our home, found the core issue after detailed troubleshooting, and made sure our pump worked properly. We really appreciated his attention to detail and willingness to ensure everything worked as it should. After calling 4 plumbers and getting ghosted (not sure why), it was a huge relief to speak with someone over the phone to schedule Elliot to come by and help us out. Scottish Plumber has an excellent system and brought a great plumber! Update: we had Carlos come to install a new back up sump pump and check valve and he was prompt, kind, and careful! We are so grateful for the team at Scottish plumbing.
Tom came out to our house on time, assessed the problem with our clogged bathroom sink, then provided a reasonable estimate and quickly resolved the problem. Our house is old, so he also took the time to explain how we could avoid the problem in the future. He was friendly, helpful, and clearly knows his stuff. I've used The Scottish Plumber several times, and every one of their people has been equally nice and competent. In my experience, The Scottish Plumber is the best plumbing service on the North Shore.
I've used The Scottish Plumber a few times for work and for my personal home, and I plan to continue calling when I have plumbing issues. They've always been great to work with - super easy to schedule, punctual, and very knowledgeable. Well worth the money. **Big thanks to Carlos for all his hard work with the twists and turns that came with a leak in a 100+ year house with previous amateur repairs. He was thorough in his work, thorough in his explanations, and a really nice guy.
Scottish Plumber returned with the superintendent Tom like he said they would and performed additional hydro jet work and removed the bulk of the remaining roots at the joints in our sewer. Scottish Plumber used a sewer camera along with the hydro jet hose to confirm the work performed. Scottish Plumber observed and worked on each pipe joint with roots to remove them. There was no additional monetary charge for SP's additional visit which was really appreciated.
Replacing the pipes with copper, and the remodeling of our bathroom, were done expertly, and the work done for both of these processes deserves a five star rating. There were some lapses in communication between the project manager and the lead remodeler which made the process somewhat stressful. The same was true with the initial obtaining of the permit. Communication between the Villge of Berkeley and Scottish Plumber was lacking, which delayed the permit.
Water was backing up into our basement, at night on the weekend. Sergio from Scottish Plumbers was here within two hours, trying to fix things, until two in the morning. Turns out that our sewer pipe broke, so he and a crew were back at seven the next morning to start digging up the yard; by midday we could use our water again. This is the second time Scottish Plumbers has quickly helped us in an emergency, and they will always be our first call!
