I had Gabe come out to give me an estimate for our boiler repair. I was very impressed. I dealt with three other heating and plumbing companies and Safe Home Heat was by far the easiest to deal with and the most responsive. Gabe was prompt, communicated knowledgeably and quickly. He is very professional and answered all my questions. If you need a reliable and honest heating and plumbing company, Safe Home Heat Company is it!

I feel very fortunate to have found SHH. Everyone we dealt with was top notch, but in particular I'd like to call out Garrett and Brett. Navigating a home under contract, the general inspector said everything was great, but I reached out to SHH for a second opinion. They were able to find over 15K of issues that saved me from inheriting a disaster. Garrett and Brett were super transparent, friendly, and professional through and through. Thankful to have pros we can trust in the future!

Save Home was great. Yep, working with a local company filled with good people was actually a pleasant experience. Chris, the owner and estimator who initially came to my home, asked pertinent questions, made appropriate recommendations and clearly addressed all my concerns. Jack and Colton, who completed the install, showed up on time, laid down drop cloths, and got to work. The two were a good team and I could hear them actually hustling up and down the stairs on their numerous trips to and from the basement mechanical room - I think they actually liked their jobs! And, the administrative assistance from the office was simple, friendly and efficient as they aptly explained billing procedures, submitted rebate requests and scheduled the city's inspection. Good group!

I'll start off by admitting that I earned a one star review as well for my experience with Save Home Heat. I scheduled them to come out and do a routine service visit on my furnace which I bought from them 3.5 years ago. The tech came out said everything on the furnace looked great but that my flame sensor was close to failing and he recommended replacing it which he would have done during the service visit except he didn't have the part. The service visit set me back $224 and the estimate for the flame sensor was $226. The following morning I wake up and the furnace is not working. Odd, as the tech just gave it 2 thumbs up so we assumed it had to be the flame sensor. So this prompted me to search online about relacing it and I discovered the process takes about a minute and the part cost $12. It did take 2 days to get the part and we quickly swapped the old one with the new one. Our furnace still didn't work. We spent about 3 hours going nuts because everything was testing out. It then dawned on me that when the service tech left he failed to turn the gas line back on. We had assumed he would have left it on but once we switched it back on, everything worked. Needless to say my wife and I were furious and embarrassed. $226 for a one minute repair and a $12 part? As a Lennox supplier one would think they would have flame sensors stocked in their vans and not commit highway robbery with a $226 estimate.

They seem competent but I wouldn't recommend; $20k for a boiler and indirect sidearm tank only to install the intake and exhaust pipes backwards (stopped working within a month). Add An unanswered voicemail from my related questions, slow to answer emails or calls without prompting, high turnover, and a salesman who says whatever it takes to win the job (we were out of water almost 48 hours, not the afternoon that he promised).

6 reasons to think twice about save home heat This one goes out to female homeowners who might be especially vulnerable to smooth-talking HVAC salesmen. A week ago, I had a regularly scheduled maintenance visit with Save Home Heat. What followed was a beautifully crafted upsell: psychologically astute, layered, and intricate. It may have been an isolated incident, due to a slow February, or part of a larger corporate ethos. The salesman tried to sell me a water heater, which I do in fact need, but also tried to say my 2019 furnace was basically beyond repair, and that I would need a new furnace, and because my AC was also the same vintage it would be best to get a new heat pump as well, for "peace of mind." The total came to $30,761.83. Here's exactly what happened. 1. The year prior, on a maintenance visit, Save Home Heat missed a critical repair, a major red flag, to fix the flue and combustion air for furnace. Flue and combustion air systems are key for safety, efficiency, and equipment longevity in fuel-burning appliances. 2. The salesperson tried to say what he called my 8-year-old furnace, which in fact just turned 7 in January, was old, meh (builder's grade), and pretty much beyond repair. He said the industry standard for my furnace was 12 years. The repairs they quoted me came to $3242.08. The salesguy said there were in fact probably more repairs lurking that he couldn't even see and best would be to replace the furnace altogether. Cost for a new furnace: $13,464.12. When I did get a second opinion, as strongly suggested by friends, I went with Carbon Valley Heating & Air. Dale Moe, the Carbon Valley service manager, said industry standard for furnaces was in fact between 10 and 15 years, and my furnace was well worth repairing rather than replacing. Estimate for Carbon Valley's repair, for flue and combustion air for furnace, and for return air in basement: Cost = $1898. 3. The Save Home Heat salesguy mentioned my furnace was grinding, which it wasn't really doing. He also showed me an amp reading and said the motor was using more than was indicated. His reading was 2.41. Therefore, I would need a new combustion blower for $898. The specified amount on the nameplate is 2.35. When Carbon Valley came and did a reading, their reading was 2.2. 4. Save Home Heat, in their estimate, quoted a repair for the blower wheel ($431), blower motor replacement ($850) and for a pressure switch ($224). Carbon Valley said the blower was "not grinding nor compromised, was balanced and showed no signs of needing repair." Dale said the furnace would not be working with a bad pressure switch and this another unnecessary "repair." 5. Save Home Heat then went beyond suggesting I replace my furnace. (February, given its mild temps, was apparently a very slow month for the HVAC trade!) He said, since my AC was the same vintage as my furnace, and therefore on the edge of its life, why not consider replacing both the AC and the furnace and swapping in a heat pump? Again, for "peace of mind." A heat pump would save me money on propane and since they were replacing everything at once they could really get in there do a great job of modifying the return AirDrop and supply ducting. Cost for a new furnace and heat pump: $25,195.57. 6. Save Home Heat used the classic sale tactics of creating fear and urgency. The salesman mentioned this was all pre-tariff pricing--God knows how much the new 2026 pricing would be when it would be instated very soon. Also, he pressured me more by saying their offer was only good for February, giving me roughly a week to come up with a decision. So my takeaway? Always get a second opinion for big ticket items. Always be skeptical and curious about every single line item. Work with a company that has proven its integrity and is worthy of your trust. As for me, I cancelled my membership with Save Home Heat and will not be working with them in the future.

This is an overall update review of my experience with Save Home Heat. I started dealing with them when I selected them to install an expensive Triangle Tube combination heating boiler and water heater unit in my home. The original installation was done in January of 2013. Well, here we are 2 years later and I think I have a pretty good idea of how this company operates. I am a Federal Government Inspector and have been known to be very detail oriented so hang in there... The new Triangle Tube installation went well and looks very well done. The only error I found was one of the new zone control valves was installed backwards which caused banging in the system. This error was corrected within a week of my complaint about it. Taking everything into account, my first year with the new system was problem free and I was fully satisfied. On the free one year inspection of the unit by Save Home Heat, I was told all is well but I needed a new filter for the condensate that runs from the unit. $300 for a new filter every year? I did not replace this and found later that it did not need replacement - it just needed to be rinsed in water. Lesson learned, request the Triangle Tube expert for yearly inspections. Just short of 2 years with the Triangle Tube the issues began. First, no hot water was discovered on 2 different occasions. Save Home Heat sent repairmen and this was resolved. The Save Home Heat owner agreed to cut the repair bill in half and my cost was under $200. Then, the real issues began. No heat or hot water. As a matter of fact, no heat on several occasions in November when the temperatures were well below freezing. I came home from trips to find the temperature inside my home hovering at 50 degrees. This is when the repeated visits by Save Home Heat servicemen began. They couldn't seem to fix the unit and I actually had to use their portable electric heaters to heat my home one weekend. Major hassle factor at this point. I was poised to demand a new Triangle Tube unit as this one simply did not function. Finally, after a persistence I had to admire, Save Home Heat's expert found the likely root cause of the issues. Many parts were replaced, the expansion tank was replaced, the Triangle Tube sales representative was present onsite, and more. I simply wanted this Triangle Tube unit fixed or replaced. This whole scenario cost me worry and many hours of my personal time. Save Home Heat made it right. It was obvious to me they were not going to give up on it. They called in Triangle Tube experts. They sent their own expert on several occasions. They did what it took to correct the situation. It's been over 2 months now with everything working perfectly. The unit was out of warranty during all of this and I was quite concerned about the cost of all these repairs. I finally received the very thick envelope containing the repair listings and charges. I nervously read through the pages looking for the total charge. There it was, hand written on the last page was "NO CHARGE." Wow, here is a company that did the right thing. Talk is cheap while actions show the real integrity of a company. This company was there to fix the problem and then do the right thing for a loyal customer. Would I buy another Triangle Tube heating system? Absolutely not. Would I use Save Home Heat again? This is the only company I will use for my heating and air conditioning needs for many years to come. They do more than they have to and value their customers. What more can you ask for?

Save Home Heat is the kind of company you wish every service provider would be. Top quality work, attentive professional installation and follow-up, proven and reliable super-efficient equipment, and a company ethos that is dedicated to meeting their customers' needs. Our two old clunker A/C systems were both failing. We were interested in replacing them with heat pumps and found Save Home Heat, described as a local expert in heat pumps in an article in a local online magazine. Our experience started with their sales rep (now co-owner) Chris, who came to our home, did a detailed analysis based on technical measurements of heating and A/C space and requirements, then laid out four different heat and A/C configuration solutions. Each option was fully explained, and each quote detailed exactly the costs and applicable rebates/discounts. We chose the heat pump solution and are so pleased with the result. The work: Installation techs were professional, showed up when scheduled, kept the work area clean, and did a fantastic and neat job. The products: SHH is a Lennox Premier dealer/installer, and we chose our products well, starting with Lennox's most efficient top-rated heat pumps. This was a huge job and a significant expense, but we viewed it as an investment in our home. We feel we really got our money's worth - you get what you pay for in the quality of equipment (from heat pumps to furnaces and high-tech thermostats, all Lennox) and the work (ductwork included). Now, here's the proof: a full nine months later, I called Chris to sheepishly admit I was having difficulty locating the filter cabinet in the attic furnace. He came by, took a look, and sent photos showing how to access the filter by opening the furnace cabinet's blower chamber. Fine, that was helpful. But a few minutes later he wrote a follow-up email stating "I think we can do better. Could we come back and reconfigure the ductwork some to put in a better filter cabinet? At no cost to you." The tech came that same week, the reconfiguration took several hours, but the result is an upgrade from a standard 1" filter tucked inside the blower housing to a new easy-access filter chamber housing a 5" filter (much better filtration than a simple 1" filter). Again, professional work, neat and tidy. All at no cost, simply because Chris felt they could do better, and it was important to him that his company give his customers the best they could provide. I followed up by enrolling in their annual maintenance program; we want to protect our investment and of course we would use the company that has already proved itself to have our best interests in mind. You won't be disappointed with Save Home Heat.

We have used Save Home Heat for various projects for about 20 years. They serviced our very old hot water (boiler) heat system until it needed replacing. The timing was right to upgrade to a high efficiency model which we did. However the technology was new then and the furnace worked well for some years but did not last as long as predicted industry wide. After researching online, I discovered it was not worth repairing anymore as the brand was no longer in business and it would be impossible to get parts. We upgraded to a newer model of a longer running company. That turned out quite well, though it has more electronics and does sometimes need some fixes. This most recent repair though had nothing to do with the newest furnace and everything to do with the 1979 remodel that installed the zone system throughout the house to be able to heat the addition and a better system for the original part of the house. One of the valves in one zone component had failed. I called Save Home Heat and they gave us an appointment for today. A service tech who had been here before was able to do the repair as he carries many traditional parts on the truck. It is now running well. We have also bought some ductless AC units (mini-splits) from this company a few years ago as our house had no central air and it could not be installed as we do not have ducts since we do not have forced air heat. It is a great solution. They service those too and most, but not all of the house can be cooled well enough, now that summers are so hot here. We have lots of shade trees that had been sufficient until a few years ago when climate change brought us summers so warm. They are a good company to work with though they do get busy, so it is not always easy to get a tech as quickly as this time but they have never left us without heat in severe weather. All of these units do require advanced tech from their staff so it is not an inexpensive fix but it is also necessary to do right. The phone staff has aways been accommodating and the sales people knowledgeable. I started with the company founders who are now all retired but the newer staff does just as well.

I did not have a good experience with Save Home Heat. I initially called because my thermostat was not turning off my heat, and our heat was stuck on. The technician was polite and professional, and replaced the thermostat in 20 minutes, for which the charge was almost $300! When I wrote to the company to complain, the owner wrote my back a long letter explaining that they needed to charge these rates to run their company, and that part of the charge is because the technician (Gabe) was so experienced and could diagnose a problem quickly. I felt that the charge was exorbitant and I wasn't happy. We went on vacation for 10 days right after that, leaving the thermostat at 65. When we got home, the apartment was really hot at 75. I turned the thermostat was down to 52, and realized that it was not turning down the heat. So, I called back Save Home Heat who wanted me to wait two more days for the same technician to come out. In the meantime we were having to open our windows to be able to let the heat out so we could sleep! I insisted on having someone come out that day, which they were very reluctant to do even though someone was available. I explained to the new technician what had happened, and he immediately checked the valve on the heating unit that the thermostat was controlling, which he said was old and needed to be replaced. Another $287 charge! If I was charged $287 the first time because the first technician was so great at "diagnosing" problems why did he not test to make sure the thermostat he installed was indeed working with the system? I called again to protest the second $287 charge and was told that they had "waived the trip fees." OK, well when I had first called they said they only charge a trip fee if it is something they can't fix or I decide not to perform the work, so the fact that they "waived the trip fee" didn't mean anything. In sum, I would not call this company again. Their charges are ridiculous and they don't take responsibility for their mistakes. Poor customer service!

I just had a Mitsubishi ductless cooling/heatpump system installed by Save Home Heat and their technicians, Kaelan, Remy and Nick did an extraordinary job! I got three quotes for this project and the quote from Brandon at SHH was not only the best price--he came up with the best system configuration BY FAR (more on this below). This was a huge investment for me and I spent hours meeting these reps and doing my homework online, so you can save yourself some research time and just call Save Home Heat! They are professional, listen to their customers, take pride in their work and work together as a team under challenging circumstances--e.g. working on the roof running lines on a 90 degree plus day. Regarding the system configuration, Brandon was the only one who could (pardon the overused expression) think outside the box. I was concerned about how the lines would look on the outside wall running to the condenser--I did not want to look up from our small patio where we spend a great deal of time and see the lines but it seemed inevitable since the units 'have to' be mounted on an outside wall. However, Brandon came up with the brilliant idea to install the indoor units on the boiler room wall inside the house and run the lines through the roof and down the side of the house where all the electrical and other utilities are--and not within view of our patio (HUGE win!). This was not an easy configuration to execute but Kaelan, Remy and Nick were not daunted by the challenge at all. Further, Brandon clearly has a great deal of expertise with these split Mitsubishi units and patiently answered my endless questions. He was also the only rep who discussed potential rebates from the City of Boulder with me--which they include as a line item right from the get go. The other two companies never even mentioned rebates(??). Save yourself some time and money and go with Save Home Heat--you will not be disappointed!

I am very happy with my experience with Save Home Heat and I'm extremely impressed by the service they provided us with the installation of a heat pump and mini split system. When we were looking for an installer for this project, we actually received two personal referrals from two different friends about this company and I'm glad we went with them. Save Home Heat is Xcel's top installer partner for heat pumps and for good reason. For starters, after talking to multiple companies about this project, Save Home Heat felt the most honest and professional. Every part of the quote was itemized so the install cost was very transparent. The price was very fair compared to other quotes I received and their timeline for installation was incredibly fast. Their price came in lower than other quotes I received and their lead time was at least two times faster. Since they install many of these systems a week, they have the entire installation process shaped into a well-tuned machine. It was pretty impressive to see in action. Everyone on site had a specific job so there was a lot of work being done simultaneously and everything seemed to go extremely efficiently. They were able to finish our install within 6 hours. One thing I liked about Save Home Heat is that their workforce is all in-house so the quality of work is top quality and their results are consistent - you know exactly who you are working with and know that they are able to deliver an excellent end result. Everyone from Save Home Heat has been very professional and really pleasant to work with. Our installer, Mitch, was very personable, knowledgeable, respectful of our space, and overall did a really great job. They wore shoe covers in the house and they also cleaned up after themselves when they were done. I would highly recommend Save Home Heat for your next project. Quality company with quality workmanship at a reasonable price.

This company installed a new furnace in 2015. Salesperson was great, install was frustrating, 1st on-call service tech was awful, 2nd service tech was great. Two of the installers were young guys that gabbed like school girls the entire time, which is part of the reason why one forgot to hook up one of the new duct runs, then I had to remind him 3 times to finish the one in the bedroom. The other forgot to replace a cap that caused a small explosion of flame that could have been lots worse if I wasn't standing right there to turn off the gas. The on-call tech I got on the phone told me it was something wrong with the install so nothing he could do that night and would not be coming out, and to call the company in the morning. The tech that came in the morning, after a night of no heat, saw the cap right away and fixed it in less than a minute. Luckily, no damage to the unit. One of the owners called me later in the day and asked me how I felt about the on-call tech not coming out. Perhaps he had done some training that suggested asking women about their feelings is a good thing to do. I found it bizarre in a business conversation. It seemed like a diversion tactic to take the emphasis off of responsibility for his employee's behavior. The unit and install cost was average and it has run normally for the 2 years we've had it. I had asked for a quiet one, but the one they picked for us is not quiet and I've had trouble working around the noise. I received the call today to set up the annual maintenance visit and was told this visit is $114 but next time it would cost $199. Most everyone else is around $150 with frequent discounts that make it $89. I've cut my ties to this company now that their install warranty period is over.

Contacted this company in late November to repair my hot water heating system. Three rooms were not heating. The tech arrived and advised me on top of the $75.00 trip charge there would be a $74.00 diagnostic charge to assess the problems and recommend a solution which I paid on the spot. A week later I was contacted by phone by a company representative that the cost of the repairs would be $1080.00 which included yet another trip charge. Although this seemed quite high I agreed to the repairs and scheduled a service call to be performed a week later. The same tech arrived with a part and a bucket of ethylene glycol. After 90 minutes the tech informed me he could not figure out the problem with two of three rooms and the third was repaired attempting to explain 4 to 5 more hours would be needed to attempt a solution to the problems with the remaining rooms and even then he could not be confident a solution could be reached. Exasperated, I decided to not go further with his suggestion and asked if a discount would occur as the service call did not take the 3-4 hours mentioned when I was given the estimate and 2/3rds of the repairs were not performed the tech reluctantly lowered the bill to $913.00 Today I discovered the allegedly repaired room was not heating. I contacted the company and was told was that yet another $75.00 trip charge would need to be quoted to have the tech return. $988.00 later and in the same position as when I began, I have decided to contact another heating company I have been contacted by the owner of Save Home Heat and assured a satisfactory resolve to my experience will be made

Save Home did an AC unit replacement for my elderly mother and her live-in personal assistant, even though the old unit was working fine. I believe that they conned mom's personal assistant into the R22 scam. R22 scammers insist that after January 1st that R22 AC units can no longer be repaired and must be replaced. That is a flat-out lie. After January 1st no new R22 freon can be produced, but local HVAC dealers have stocked-up on R22 made last year, and will have enough to make freon fills and replacements for the next 2-3 years. Moreover repairs that don't involve new freon can be done indefinitely. For whatever reason Save Home personnel talked my mom's personal assistant into the most-expensive new Lennox unit, one that had much more cooling capacity than needed, and which also required a furnace upgrade and a new digital thermostat. My own Lennox dealer in Lafayette had installed HVAC on the homes in mom's neighborhood when they were new back in the 1990s. He told me later that he could have installed one of Lennox's new less-expensive units with enough capacity for mom's house for less than 25% as much. So my firm opinion is that Save Home is out to gouge its customers and talk especially elderly women into wildly over-priced and unnecessary repairs. They may also have participated in the R22 scam going around. If it was me I would call my guy in Lafayette as his work has been great and his cost less than one-quarter of the cost Save Home gouged my elderly mother for.
