Dakota was great. Very efficient and kind and walked me through everything giving good suggestions. Very knowledgeable
We had sewage backing up into our basement shower and overflow drain in our HVAC room. We called Roto Rooter and they were able to send someone out within one hour of calling. The tech, Dakota, was great! He was very knowledgeable and willing to explain everything that he was going to do. He spent several hours at our house making sure he thoroughly cleaned out our sewer pipes. A supervisor, Mike, also came and did a free video walk through of our pipes to help identify other problem areas. Dakota even came back a couple days later to fix a small leak in our clean out access point. I would highly recommend them!
We noticed last night that our downstairs toilet was starting to leak around the base and so we immediately looked into getting someone out to take a look. Booking the appointment was quick and easy, and Stephan showed up exactly on time the next morning ready to help us out. He was open with his communication, letting us know there were a few options that might work and helping us choose where we wanted to start. When the first option didn’t fix the problem, he was upfront and honest with next steps. We chose to do a full main drain snake and he got it done promptly and efficiently! He explained his process and what the problem was afterwards so we knew what to look out for in the future! All in all a great experience and we highly recommend Roto-Rooter and especially Stephan for any drain and plumbing needs
They refused to give me a ballpark price on a clogged kitchen drain over the phone. When the plumber arrived he quoted me a live near $400. I sent him away.
I had a leak in a pipe that was on recall. They quoted me 4800 for full pipe remediations (which is a huge job). The other estimates i had gotten were twice that. THey assured me after deep questioning that they could handle it and be done in 8 hours. They had almost no material to use, no drop cloths . They dint cover the AC intakes so dust was pumped all over the house. Drywall dust pointless all over the hardwood and my furniture. Instead of removing sheets of drywall they just cut little hole after little hole. They had to come back 3 times, once for a leak in the new pipe, once to hook up a forgotten refrigerator line and again to hook up another line they forgot. ON the last one i had to cut a new hole in the drywall i just replaced. 4 days, 56 holes and a massive mess. THey guys were nice, just not at all prepared for a project of this size. Yes, the fine print says we don't move furniture. That is fair enough but they had told me 5 holes in the drywall, not 50. I called a "manager" and he said he'd give me 1k off. Then he said " we had to charge you $$$ money because of al the extra time it took". He'd said hew as actually doing me a favor. It was incredibly insulting. I turne up the noise level and got another manager and he did reduce the original cost by 1k. Then the 3rd visit and they cut a hole in the cieling i had just paid 5k to repair. They said they'd get me chalk for that repair but i have yet to see it. I think these guys are pressed to upswell to these big jobs and they just don't have project management capability. They are also big enough to absorb the loss if it turns south. They are responsive to short notice requests and their switchboard is superb, but this....was a mess.
We called Roto-Rooter 11/10/2013 (on a Sunday) as our basement drain was backing up. We called the dispatch department around 11:30 a.m. and were advised someone would be out within 2-hours and we would be notified 30 minutes prior to their arrival. Dispatch called again around 12:45 advising there was a delay and they would notify us when the next plumber was available. They called about 10 minutes later advising someone would be to our house in 30-45 minutes. Within 30 minutes we had a plumber at our house. The communication up front was excellent and the expectations of when someone would be out were also exceptional. When the plumber arrived he was friendly, courteous, and promptly proceeded to troubleshoot the issue. He advised he would need to snake the drain, and advised up front what the charges were to do so. He asked for a signature at that time to confirm it was okay for him to proceed with that work. He worked on snaking the main drain line for a few hours and indicated the work was completed. We tested by flushing some toilets and there were no backups indicated. Paperwork was finalized and we issued payment for the charges incurred. These were known charges for snaking the line, plus we purchased a bottle of drain cleaner. No other charges were incurred. About 10 minutes after he left we ran our washing machine and the drain began to backup again. We immediately called Roto-Rooter and he was sent back to address. He attempted to snake the line again with no success so he advised he was going to remove the toilet to attempt to snake through that line. There was no indication at this time there would be any additional charges to remove the toilet. The plumber worked on the line for several additional hours with no luck so he called another plumber to come and assist with the problem. The other plumber was traveling from Parker, up to our home in Arvada and arrived approximately an hour later, close to 8 p.m. The first plumber indicated he was more of a true plumber and could repair and replace our pipes, but this other plumber was a line cleaner and knew what he was doing. When the second plumber arrived he brought a second drain snake machine. After snaking the line for a while the second plumber advised the first plumber's equipment was faulty and not working properly so he was unable to clean the line. Around 9:30 p.m. they completed their work, the line was clean and water was flowing freely with no backup issues. At this time the second plumber advised he recommended we send a camera line down our drain to determine if there were any other issues and this would charge an additional $150. We refused this additional service as the lines were flowing freely. We were then advised by the first plumber that there were going to be additional charges to remove the toilet and to snake the line further out. There was no indication of these additional charges until after the work was done, which was clearly a different approach from when the first plumber arrived, advised of service to be done and associated charges. We sat down with the plumber to go over the charges and they had almost tripled from our first payment this morning with essentially no other services provided, outside of their time. The charge to remove the toilet was higher than the charge to snake the drain, which seems odd, but if we had known there was nearly a $300 charge to remove the toilet, we would have removed and reset it ourselves. Additionally, this does not appear to have been necessary as the second plumber who arrived was able to successfully snake the line with his equipment and it appears the first plumber was less experienced in this aspect of the job. Both plumbers were friendly and courteous, but the lack of explanation on additional charges was beyond frustrating. The plumber reduced our bill as he could see our frustration, but it was still $200 more than the original bill we paid earlier in the day, with no real reason for the same. We hired Roto-Rooter because of their longstanding reputation in the industry. If we wanted to hire a plumber who was going to come in and not explained the process of work and any charges we may incur we could have surely elected one of thousands of plumbers in the Denver Metro area to meet these needs, but we wanted a company that would charge us reasonably amounts and explain to us what charges we may incur prior to doing the work. The only reason there was a two-star rating was because of the communication from dispatch and the friendly approach of the plumbers. Bottom line, we had plumbers in our home for around 8 hours on a Sunday, when it seems if the work would have been done appropriately the first time the work should have taken around an hour (according to the second plumber).
Roto Rooter gave me an estimate of $5500 for water mitigation after my basement bedroom, laundry room and partial living room were backed up with sewage. At the end of it all they are charging me $8200, which had I known the flaws and inconsistency the techs would leave me to take care of, I would have NEVER hired Roto-rooter in a time of need. Summary of issues. The technicians only removed one 8 foot stretch of drywall (not the wall that was majorly affected/outside of laundry room), which was insufficient due to the damage that we explained to the techs. We had told Brian the backup happened on a Wednesday night, where as they did not come and perform the work until later on that week Saturday. After we expressed that the "sales guy" took water readings and showed us all of the saturated walls, the technicians STILL did not listen to us and did not take out the walls. The technicians told us they would take out 24 inches (2 feet) of drywall.... They only took out 23 inches, my husband had to correct their faulty measurements by cutting out 1 inch of drywall. Brian and Robert from Roto Rooter did not connect the washers to the washer and dryer.... found out the hard way after doing a load in the wash, the laundry room floor had water coming from under the washer and dryer. The washers to the Hot and cold hoses were Missing, we found them on the basement floor........ Had to buy new washers because of their incompetence, my husband took care of it. They also crushed the dryer vent when they put it back into the laundry room, my husband had to pull the dryer out and put it back to the condition it was in before they took it out. The green plastic on the floor from the front door to the basement door that roto rooter used to walk in and out of my house was never disposed of. They never "cleaned" the appliances like they documented we have pictures to provide proof of all.... The technicians did not listen to what our concerns were, such as covering all of our belongings, they said they would, "take care of it". Brian and Robert did not cover our belongings, which inturn left a residue of poop particles, dry wall, mold and chemicals used during and throughout the mitigation. I have dell computer monitors that have a thick residue, my desk with everything on it, my couch, my records, my dresser drawers. It's sad that they only covered the top of my queen bed and left everything exposed. Including the headboard to my queen bed, which is now trash thanks to Roto Rooter. The door to the affected bedroom was somehow closed after they started the dryer treatment, which we did not find out until 2 days later. We were told to not go downstairs because of the debris in the air.
I called on a Sunday evening for a plumbing call to fix my hot water heater. We scheduled the service call for the following day, Monday, 7-11pm (after I get home from work). Monday at 8:30pm, they called and said they don't actually have skilled enough plumbers available after 5pm so they'd have to reschedule my job for the next day. They claimed they left me a message to tell me at 5:30pm Monday (they did not leave any messages). 1) If they don't have skilled plumbers available after 5pm weekdays, why did the person who took my original call schedule service for 7-11pm? Their outgoing phone message clearly states that they provide "after hours plumbing service" - but apparently not if you need someone skilled enough to deal with a water heater! I clearly stated in the original call that my water heater needed service. So their marketing is misleading. 2) If they couldn't perform the service 7-11pm, why didn't someone notice it when they looked at their schedule Mon AM and call me as soon as possible to reschedule or allow me to cancel? I could have had all day Monday during biz hours to find another plumber. Instead, they waited to call me at 8:30pm, probably because waiting to tell me after normal business hours would increase the odds that'd I'd reschedule the appt. with them. 3) They did NOT leave any messages earlier, as they claimed. I spoke to a dispatch manager about my disatisfaction with their customer service. To his credit, he listened, was not defensive, and promised that they would learn from their mistakes to avoid these situations in the future. But that does NOT remedy the fact that I have no hot water - AGAIN for another day. Common sense, good business practices and mindful service would have saved me a huge headache in finding another plumber and paying expensive emergency fees.
TL;DR - Mike (employee # 1051) is awesome and solved our problem for a fair price in about an hour after a LOT of prior drama. If you have a tough job that other plumbers can't figure out, call and ask for him! We started with a different plumber that was sent by our home warranty company, and it was a mess. He did the repair he was sent to do but didn't test it, and told us the pipe needed to be snaked as well and he would be coming back to do it. Well, the previously slow-draining sink never drained again after he repaired the pipe that was broken, and the plumber went radio-silent on us for weeks. This ended up being a typical red tape nightmare that is typical of home warranties, but that's a story for a different review. Eventually, we called in Roto-rooter and it turned out to be a lot more complicated than just snaking the drain. Two different techs ended up coming to the house to try and solve the problem and ultimately sent in a camera. For all three of those events, I paid only the original service fee. Unfortunately, the camera got hopelessly stuck in our pipes (it got caught on the fix done by the first plumber), and they had to call in a more experienced plumber to unf*ck it. He was able to both free the camera and clear the blockage from our pipe for a fair price. While the whole ordeal was definitely more expensive than I was counting on, I don't feel that I was misled or price gouged at any point. And Roto-rooter didn't charge us any significant cash until they were able to fix the problem. I feel good both about Mike and about the company. And they came out on a Saturday and solved our problem by Wednesday despite the fact that it took multiple peple and multiple visits to resolve. I would defintiely use them again.
I contacted roto-rooter after we had our home inspection done and was told we had some roots in our sewer line and was recommended to clean them out. We weren't having any problems, we just wanted the roots out as we are re-doing our basement and didn't want any future problems. The first guy (Ariel) came out to our home who was supposed to clean out the roots, (who never did) found one of the pipes was a little off set in our front yard that connects to the city line. They had a second guy (Mike) come out to give us a quote for a spot repair of the off set pipe. The quote was so ridiculous I wanted to laugh. When the second plumber came out I told him Ariel never cleaned out the pipe and that there were still roots in the pipe. He just agreed with me and said "we can't guarantee to clean roots out." So basically we paid over $300 for them come out and tell me that there are roots in our line (which we already knew from our inspection report) and that our pipe was a little off set and that it will cost me an arm and a leg to have a pipe spot repaired in our front yard. It's pretty frustrating when you contact a company to clean out some roots and they don't do the job. Today I had another plumber come out from a different company that quoted me at 1/4 of the price roto-rooter did and they didn't charge me over $300 to tell me something I already knew. Actually, they didn't charge me anything. Just an FYI, all of these good reviews that are written by customers are so they can have an attempt at getting their money back. After roto-rooter comes out to your house they offer you to write a review and be put into a drawing that will get a full refund of their money.
I had the worst experience with roto-rooter first I call and schedule a appointment for them to come out and the tech that came out to my business property didn't bring the equipment with him and their dispatch didn't even call me back with a ETA of someone else coming out. I had to call back and get a new appointment for another tech to come out with another time frame which they never showed up so I had to reschedule it again. The second thing when the tech came out he couldn't even unclogged the toilets I had and had to get a senior tech out to help and even the senior tech had a hard time they had to bring another tech out to assist. They were supposed to come out the next day to fix my sewer leak and they never showed up so I did it myself and then when I called to unclog a sink the tech left a huge mess in my tenants business I had to go clean up. And the Third thing was the Roto-Rooter was supposed to call to get a video scoop of my sewer lines and their dispatch never called and every time I called to schedule no video tech came out for almost two months it took them to call me back and schedule a tech to come out this past Saturday no one called to give me a ETA I had to call again and their dispatch stated that they have more tech's on Sunday then Saturday then the time frame was supposed to be between 8-9 and the tech called and I had to reschedule for the following day so I don't recommend them unless you actually talk to a tech but Good Luck because you lost my business for my property Roto Rooter.
We had a clog in our main septic line... Roto-Rooter sent two young kids out. They were polite and tried to be helpful but it seems like they didn't actually know what they were doing. They said that we needed to run a camera through our line because the snake wasn't going all the way through. They insisted that our septic tank was almost full and needed to be pumped before they could even run the camera (Turns out the tank, which had just been pumped within the past year, was totally fine). The next day they sent out a supervisor, who was able to run the camera and did clear a clog. He then tried to hard sell us on $7500 to tear out our bathtub, break through a 4" concrete slab, and replace a 6" piece of older pipe that hasn't caused us any problems (we had been warned that this company commonly tries to upsell these huge, expensive, unnecessary excavation projects). Then they left our bathroom a mess... they did not re-caulk the toilet, and there was nasty brown septic liquid sprayed all over the walls and floor and smeared on the toilet. I don't expect plumbers to be housekeepers, I expect to do some sanitizing once they leave, but for what we paid for the work they did I do expect a little bit of basic cleanup and for the toilet to be recaulked. Two stars because they did actually come out quickly and they did clear our clog, but the rest of the experience was a stressful mess.
Roto Rooter cause extra damages to my house above the normal damages of repairing my sewage pipe.. I called several to discuss the matter. Took and sent it to them. They said they would look into it and get back with me. They never got back to me. I called several after to follow up. Agian no one ever got back to me. The damages that were done. My Laundry Pedestal looked brand new before the workers came. The next day when I got over the sticker shock for the cost of the repair, I notice a hole and crack in my Laundry Pedestal as if the Jack Hammer that they used to rip up my tile to get to the pipe hit it. Also after they were finished draining my pipe, the machine that used spilled sewage on my whit carpet. They tried cleaning that up and I tried with my home steam cleaner but the stain is still there. Since they charged me $6800 to repair my pipe, you would think the company would be responsible for any other damages they caused except for the damage of tearing up my tile. The price of $6800 is hard for me to justified since the material they used to repair my pipe would not cost them more than a $1000 and it took 3 guys 8 hours this included transport time to complete the job. I had a 10 ft sewage pipe replaced. I am wondering what cost $5800 to justified the total cost.
I called an Evergreen number for service but Evergreen does not show up on Roto-Rooter list. Decided to post here simply because I am not going to just drop it. BBB is next. The laundry room floor drain was clogged so I gave them a call as I've used them before for around $100. They eventually showed up 26 hours late. When I called the 2nd day after they missed another appointment, I was told they were busy and would be here whenever they could get here. Finally showed up - finished 20 min. later. The 20 min. included chatting at front door, looking at drain while I flushed toilet, going back out to vehicle for machine to use on clog. Actual "work" took about 3 min. and then I was ripped off for $389 - and no - that is not a typo. So if you need a drain cleaned out, call the outfit on Yelp charging $35 right now or any of the places that charge around $100 bucks for something so simple. Just don't call Roto-Rooter unless you have lots of time and money to waste.
We called in this morning for an emergency call when we noticed our basement toilet, shower and laundry drain had all backed up. They told me they would have someone out in the morning. They hadn't called or shown up by 11:00am so I called dispatch again and said someone would call me back, at 12:00pm no one had still called so I called again. Finally got someone that said they would have their next available truck to our house. They finally came around 1:00pm. The technicians that came to the house turned my poor view with the dispatch into a positive view. They were professional, knowledgeable and very helpful. They were able to fix the blockage and give us a solution of why we got backed up. I would recommend the technicians to everyone. I am glad I didn't call anyone else when I was frustrated with the dispatch office. They do good, honest work for a reasonable price!
