Lejla and John were fantastic. Arrived within the window, were very straight forward and professional. Highly recommend either or ideally both!

On Christmas Day, I had a sewer backup at my house and I was feeling panicked since I had to be some place that day for celebrations. I called Roto-Rooter not knowing if I could have someone come out on such short notice on a holiday. To my pleasant surprise, their dispatcher said they could send someone out In about 40 minutes. In a timely manner, a very nice gentleman named Rick arrived and immediately went to work. Rich was working under some difficult conditions. First of all it was cold, windy, and raining. Second, it was difficult to access the sewer cleanout. It was buried under some dirt and a bush made access challenging. In spite of this, Rich had a pleasant demeanor and when I asked if I could help he said he didn't need it. After an hour of work and some difficulty getting the plumber's snake to go towards the street, he cleared the blockage and the problem was solved. As a result of this experience, I highly recommend Roto-Router and I want to give my highest commendation to Rick for coming out on Christmas Day. I also want to add a commendation for Jose Leon who was a second employee of Roto-Rooter. Jose was called to my home by Rick because Jose had a fiber optic cable with a camera that he used to inspect the condition of my sewer line. He discovered that there were roots growing in the sewer line that had caused the backup and Rick returned to my home to with an additional tool to cut out the protruding roots. These two worked smoothly as a team to do the additional work.

So surprise they still get 2 stars! if there was a 0 star option I will certainly do so. my dishwasher was not draining they came , spent 5 mins to check, did not find the root cause, but told me my dish washer is not func and charged me 100dollars we trusted him, ordered a new machine right away and the new machine is STILL NOT DRAINING. the problem is in the pipe! not the machine! we fixed the pipe by ourselves on Christmas

$950 to remove a toilet and unclog a sewer line about 6 feet out is unreasonable and feels like a rip off. The job takes less than an hour. They normally charge about $350, but lately it seems that technicians throw out high numbers to see if you fall for it, not ethical and wrong. After 20 years of using them, I'm done. "America's most trusted plumbing service provider" no more. Someone else completed the same job for $270.

DO NOT CALL THEM! Horrible experience with Roto-Rooter! We had called them on Thursday at 6pm after our tub, toilet and shower backed up sewage. We were told to expect a technician within 2-2.5 hours. After not hearing from anyone after 2.5 hours, we called and were told the person was delayed and would not be available until late (up to 1am). At 11:45pm, we called and cancelled as we were exhausted. Friday morning, the toilets were working so we were cautiously optimistic everything would be OK. But that evening, we had a backup again, so called them again at ~5:30pm. Our experience was even worse: - Told we would get a call by 7:30pm, & a technician on-site by 8pm - Called back at 7:30pm and the dispatcher said she was sorry but had been miss-dialing my number when trying to call me, so unfortunately we'd now have to wait until 8:30-9pm. - Called back at 8:30pm and were told that we had a technician assigned and would get a call 'very soon' - Called back at 8:55pm and were told by Sharday (agent 4109) that we would have someone there 'within 45 minutes' - 45 minutes go by and - shocker - no one is here. Called back at 9:40pm and was told that our technician was still on his prior call in Belmont (about 30 mins away from our house). - Was called back by the dispatcher (Katie) at 9:45pm who said the technician was driving to our house, and we'd get a 10% discount for the inconvenience. At this point we are incredibly frustrated, but at least we know we finally have someone coming to help us (yay!)... - Except, that wasn't at all true. When we called back 30 minutes later, we were told there was no technician on the way. He was still in Belmont as there was "a problem with the work he did there" (now that's reassuring). Was told this by Darren (agent 3412). At this point, decided to cancel and we're going to look for a more reliable place in the morning.

I usually don't leave any bad review on internet, but my experience with Roto-Rooter was extremely awkward. First they are very late for an urgent clogging problem(scheduled to be here by 4:30pm on July 30, but arrived the next morning, July 31). Second, the technician used a very strong snake and could not take out the snake from the pipe! He called another guy to help, finally they got the snake out. On that day, they charged over $950 in my credit card and said a camera inspection was needed. A few days later(again, late for appointment), two camera technicians came in the evening on August 4 and after a few runs, with still lots of uncertainties, a conclusion was made that our pipe has a 'belly' and a ridiculous quote was given for fixing the pipe (over $7000). Of course, we didn't accept the quote without a complete camera inspection. The next day(August 5), my husband went down to crawl space to check the pipe. There is no such 'belly' in the pipeline. And to our shock, the pipe was damaged by the first guy - there is a ~ 1' hole on the side of the pipe - some toilet paper was in the crawl space, and the area around that pipe was very wet, so that guy made a hole in our pipe to 'open' the line to give us an illusion that the clogging is fixed! I called Roto-Rooter immediately and asked them to send someone to fix the pipe. They did send someone the next day(August 6) but the technician could not get down as oxygen level was not passing California regulation(??!). Fortunately I called another plumbing company. They came to fix the pipe and cleaned the main line - completed everything in 2 hours. I'm going to dispute my credit charge and will send the pipe fix claim to Roto-Rooter. They should be responsible for the mess and the pipe damage.

Zero star! Stay as far away from this company as possible! All that they care about is to rip you off without fixing your problem. Their technicians will come charge you 3x the market fair price, do a crappy job and trick you into paying them with the "90-day warranty". Then, with escalation to the general manager, they are still full of excuses. And the first thing the GM thought of to emphasize is that "you can't block the credit card payment". So, apparently, everyone is unhappy about their job and has been requesting for a refund. Hard to believe that they would rather spend the time arguing with customers and humiliating them, rather than actually fixing the problem. Don't waste your time or money on this crappy company. [Edit to respond to the Customer Satisfaction Manager below] If anyone at this company cares about the customers at all, you would be able to find my case and would have resolved it by now. I have called so many times over the past few days to request a refund, as they charged $500 for nothing. The GM didn't want to hear from the customer, he just kept repeating "what my technician says" and "you can't block the credit card payment". If the technician, Gerald, does his job to fix the problem, I wouldn't be spending my time trying to reach you! So, in summary, they charge 3x the price, do not fix the leak, and do not care what the customers have to say. And I feel obligated to share that with everyone reading.

If I could give more than five stars, I would! Plumbing issues are usually a nightmare: stressful, confusing, and expensive. But thanks to Will, this experience was the complete opposite. From the moment he arrived, he brought clarity, confidence, and calm to a situation that could have easily spiraled into chaos. Will was incredibly transparent about pricing, walked me through every possible solution (and what each would entail), and never once made me feel pressured or in the dark. His communication was top-notch, and his professionalism was paired with a genuinely kind and thoughtful demeanor. As if that weren’t enough, his field supervisor Matt also stopped by to lend support, and he was equally impressive. Together, they were like the plumbing dream team! It’s rare to feel grateful after a plumbing issue, but here I am, grateful to have found a team I can trust, and relieved knowing that any future problems will be handled with this same level of care and integrity. Plumbing may never be fun, but Will and Matt made it feel like it didn’t have to be painful. Highly, highly recommend!

We had an emergency drain backup and were completely stressed out. My family was still at home while I was out of state, so I couldn't be there to fix it myself. I remembered my dad using Roto-Rooter in the past, so I decided to call them. It was the best decision! Even though I was miles away, they stayed in constant touch with me, communicating every step of the way, while also keeping my family at home fully informed. They arrived incredibly fast, gave a clear and detailed description of the issue, and laid out great options for the fix. I truly appreciate them helping my family out and making sure everything was handled perfectly. A huge thank you to the technician, James, and his team! They were so nice, friendly, and had excellent communication. Thank you, Roto-Rooter and James!

We had a leak under our kitchen sink from an old insinkerator kitchen disposal. With house guests on the way, we got an estimate from Mountain View Roto Rooter. We were quoted $450 for labor and $600 for a new disposal. Needless to say we decided to get another estimate. Here's the clincher. Our houseguest ,Uncle Ken,heard what we were quoted for the repair and told us he could fix this problem for us. We ended up buying a new disposal at Ace Hardware Store for $129+ tax. He had the old disposal out and the new one installed in 20 minutes flat. So Roto Rooter wanted $1,000 per hour for labor. Not sure what kind of disposal they were planning to put in, but we're assuming it was gold plated. Use caution with this business. They will extort money from you.

These guys are super unethical and will overcharge you however they can. Their technician Theo came in to order a part for my water heater since their other technician did not do that after charging me $160 for the first visit. After he ordered the part, he gave me an outrageous quote of $1000 to fix it. When the part arrived and I told him I don't want him to fix it, he wanted to charge me $400 for talking on the phone (which they were supposed to do as a part of the first visit) if I wanted the part. Going to report this company to better business bureau. I wish I had read the reviews before contacting these guys. Hopefully this helps someone.

We had a fantastic experience with Roto-Rooter thanks to Matthew King. He came out to inspect a clog and was incredibly thorough—not only did he diagnose the issue, but he also discovered a leak in our crawlspace that we had no idea about. Matthew was professional, knowledgeable, and extremely patient. He took the time to answer all of our questions (we had many!) and made sure we fully understood what was going on and what our options were. My husband and I really appreciated his clear communication and attention to detail. It’s rare to come across someone so committed to doing the job right. Highly recommend both Roto-Rooter and Matthew King!

I called Roto Rooter 24/7 number not expecting to find available help on a weekend but s tech came out to my mothers home in 45 minutes! He cleared out the line blockage (roots in the pipe!!!) and finished within an hour. Far faster than i had hoped for and the customer service from initial phone call to the VERY professional and friendly tech-Tyrus- was perfect. A plumbing repair was pretty much the last thing i wanted to deal with today and I was not exactly suzy sunshine going into this. I am now keeping this local office in my contacts. What a relief to find exemplary service with nice people.

I hope this is the right Roto Rooter since there's so many. They're all one big company so it doesn't matter. Water heater stopped working and had a leak. My roommate suggested I call them so I did. Could get service within 2 hours. Great. Barnaby called before coming and arrived on time, Water heater is broken. Ask for the price and I literally laughed out loud. $4k he said to replace the water heater. Um hell to the no. Got a quote over the phone for $1500 for hot water heater and can come early the next am. Went with that company. Long story short but go for another company.
