Troy was great to work with. He was professional, knowledgeable, and clearly very experienced — his 46 years in the industry really show. He quickly figured out what was going on, explained everything clearly, and made sure the issue was handled properly. What I appreciated most was how straightforward and helpful he was throughout the process. He took the time to answer my questions and made a stressful situation much easier to deal with. I’ll absolutely be calling Troy again for any future plumbing needs and would definitely recommend him to others.
After our water heater unexpectedly failed, we spent an entire weekend trying to fix it ourselves, only to realize it was beyond repair. By Monday, after three days without water and a broken cold water inlet on top of it, we were completely overwhelmed. The plumber we’d used before couldn’t come until the next day, and we simply couldn’t go another day without water. We called at least 10 plumbing companies, and that’s when Tony with Public Service Plumbers came to the rescue. He made an after-hours visit, showed up promptly, and immediately put us at ease. Tony was professional, courteous, and communicated everything clearly. He explained exactly what needed to be done, didn’t try to upsell anything unnecessary, and the pricing felt completely fair. In less than two hours, we had water again. Tony truly turned a stressful situation into a great experience. We highly recommend him and Public Service Plumbers, they’ve earned our business for life.
Appreciate Jason's professionalism, experience & customer care for the large repiping he did. He even noticed a flaw in the new toilet he installed so I had a new one delivered. Very detail oriented!
We called Public Service Plumbers yesterday because we had a clogged shower and kitchen sink. They unclogged the shower and while unclogging the kitchen sink, they broke a pipe. Water began coming out of the wall into the living room floor and all over the kitchen floor. The plumber said the pipe was old and it was not his fault. We called their office and spoke to the office manager but he was not helpful and sided with the plumber without looking at the pipe first. He said they could send someone to fix it for $800 - $900. Since then two different professionals have come look at the pipe and they both said the drain snake the plumber used was too big and the pipe had not broken if they had used the proper equipment. Now I'm out more than $1000, and it looks like I have water damage on my floors.
Terrible customer service experience. I had a backup happening in the master bathroom so I called Public Service Plumbers. The guy comes out and tries to snake the drain...nothing. Then he gets under the house and says he thinks the problem is with a certain fitting that was used on the pipes. Fair enough, I thought. At least we found the problem. As the tech is about to leave he tells me my bill is almost $400. Realizing I got charged for his "apprentice" to be there was the first frustration. That kid could have stayed in the car and no one would have noticed. THEN comes the second frustration. Immediately after he leaves my second bathroom starts to clog/backup (it had been working fine for the previous two weeks while the master was out of order). So at this point I paid almost $400 to basically lose my only working bathroom. When I called back and told them it was emergent, I was advised the earliest they could come out was in three days. I was told that I would have an estimate for the repair shortly. When the estimate came it sounded like they were throwing out numbers arbitrarily. I couldn't even get a hold of a supervisor to help me understand the fee structure. After getting passed to several dispatchers who didn't know their ass from a hot rock, the best anyone could tell me was anywhere from $1 - $1,400....to change a PVC fitting... after that I called another company that came out same day and fixed the problem for significantly cheaper. Don't even bother calling these guys. Good customer service is all but dead here.
**UPDATE** for April 15, 2025. Juan with A-1 Air called approx 35 minutes before arriving, which was within the timeframe (30-45) that PSP stated. Juan has a great attitude and is very professional, showing respect for the customer and their property. He was here for our free regularly scheduled maintenance as a paid member. Juan stated that our indoor and outdoor units are in great shape and that nothing is needed, to continue keeping the unit in good health by continuing the preventative measures of changing the air filter regularly and washing of the outdoor unit at the same time. Very happy with Public Service Plumbers and their partner companies. Huge thumbs up to Juan and crew! **UPDATE** for November 17, 2025. Gabriel Locklear showed up perfectly on time, after the company confirmed our appointment about an hour ahead, and he called 10 minutes before arrival. Very courteous, very professional, and genuinely a great experience. I asked if there was anything needed, on our end, for preventative measures. He let me know that everything is operating properly and to just keep doing what we're doing. No upsell. No extra services to make extra money. This is the best company I've had the pleasure of doing business with. Thank you, PSP! Nate was on time, professional, courteous, and very knowledgeable. Provided all info needed and left us with no questions or worries. Very comfortable using this company, after 3 estimates, for sewer drain repair. The overall experience was painless, affordable and professional. Arturo, James and Tyler were courteous, knowledgeable and professional. I am so glad I chose Public Service Plumbers and will be using them for all future plumbing and HVAC needs. *Update for 01/27/2025 I love this company for the integrity and professionalism that is practiced. Troy Curtis and his partner in training did a phenomenal job for our annual maintenance inspection of the plumbing. I was given multiple options for needed repairs and updates. I am a very happy customer and thankful to be a Shield of Protection plan member. Thank you, PSP!! *Update for 02/18/2025 Awesome job as usual. Scheduled our annual inspection of the A/C system. Noel and the gentleman helping him did a fantastic job. Very professional and thorough. Provided pictures, video and quotes of items that could be addressed to help the system run more efficiently and save us money on the electric bill. Very happy with the service.
THIS WAS ONE OF THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCES I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. I am a landlord and made an appointment for them to unclog a shower drain. I gave the plumber the tenants phone number to set up the appointment, since the tenant occupies the property. The drain gets unclogged and I received an invoice for $514.64! Much to my surprise, this was a lot more than I was expecting to pay for unclogging a shower drain. I was communicating with the plumber, Wayne Vaughan through email, and I said that the invoice amount was never authorized by me and I never gave permission to complete this job, so I said I wasn't going to pay for it. The plumber, Wayne Vaughan said the tenant approved the job. I told him that the tenant was not paying for it, so he had no right to give approval nor did Wayne have the right to move forward with the job with just his approval. (I admit, that saying I wasn't going to pay wasn't the right thing to do). Instead of picking up the phone to explain and resolve the issue, Wayne Vaughan proceeds to call my boss, to a job that is COMPLETELY UNRELATED to my job as a landlord, and tells my boss that he is going to put a lien on the property because I won't pay the invoice, and continues to bad mouth me to my boss. My boss calls me to let me know and I call Wayne. Wayne never once called me to resolve this issue and thought is was a good idea to look me up on google and see who I worked for. He not only embarrassed me with my boss, but also shouted at me on the phone when I called him to resolve the issue. I paid the Invoice after a $80 reduction, because I felt like it had already caused more trouble than it was worth. I have never dealt with this kind of unprofessionalism in my life. I admit that I didn't initially handle the situation great, but there are many more steps that could've have been taken to resolve this matter professionally by Public Service Plumbers.
FRAUD!!! This company is now part of Willard and, in our case, sent out a third party electrician from a company we had never heard of. Every aspect of his wiring has been faulty. He was supposed to deactivate wiring in one room for the painter, but days later the painter almost electrocuted himself due to the wiring still being live. The chandelier box the electrician installed, turned out to have no actual live wires connected to it so we had to pay another electric company to do what Public Service charged for "installation." In total the bill was almost $1,500, and we've paid over $2,000 more to have this work actually done. What a fraudulent horrible company! The conglomerate as a whole runs each of these sister companies very poorly, and the fact they get third party contractors, from other companies whose reputation consumers can't even research, is terrible. You don't even know who's actually in your home. In our case the man had an overall bad attitude. He seemed unwilling to want to do the work, and as it turns out, he actually didn't do any work. After countless complaints the company refuses to stand by their "work." I would avoid this and all Willard affiliates not to mention any other company that has recently been bought and lumped together with other companies. Chances are they will be just as poorly run as this group of unprofessionals.
Update 4/16 received a call from the office manager. Receptionist was new and training will be addressed. Manager told same thing a second plumber did, that draining and flushing the heater that old (10 years) may actually cause more problems and may worth the cost involved. Plumber will be coached. Manager credit us the cost of the visit. Thank you Aline. They lost a customer today. Called to have a plumber come out because the water heater was making clunking/knocking sounds. Based on what i read on websites the heater needed to be flushed and drained. Told the receptionist who set up the appointment that it probably needed to be flushed. (heater still heated the water well, able to long hot showers etc... just made knocking noises). When the plumber got here, he said that heaters don't need to be flushed drained anymore, he checked to make sure water heater still worked (i already knew it did) and looked at one other issue we had and charged us $98 for the 30 min visit. If i had been told up front that they don't drain/flush water heaters anymore, i would not have had them come out (by the way, the manual for my Whirlpool water heater says it IS supposed to be drained/flushed every 6 months). I don't appreciate being lied to and i don't appreciate having to spend the time and money to hire someone else to do what this guy should have done.
We called Public Service Plumbers to serivce our tankless hot water heater that kept turning off on Friday midday and they insisted upon seeing the unit on Monday morning instead so that they could converse with the company of the water heater. Luckily the hot water would intermittantly work so we were able to make it through the weekend without too much inconvience. However on Monday morning when they came to evaluate the problem, the unit never switched off. They did charge us over $200 without any diagnosis besides needing to order a new circuit board that might fix the problem. When the hot water turned off again, I called the company back to get the part ordered and to schedule installation. They told me it would be 7-10 days for the part to get in and the woman on the phone could give me absolutely no kind of price estimate for the install and would not return my calls to the number she and I discussed. So I went ahead and ordered the circuit board myself directly from the hot water heater company myself on Wednesday and it was on my doorstep early on Friday morning (only two days later when they claimed it would take 7-10). Since my phone calls continued to go unreturned and I could not be provided any sort of estimate for the installation, I contacted another company to install the circuit board for less than the cost of their visit.
Updating my last entry. Cristian Ovalle in April 2026 did a rebuild on a Toto toilet for us. Really appreciate his timeliness, his care and concern and handling the job professionally. All good!!! Jacob - June 2025- time for the tankless flush. Jacob comes on time? Performs it quickly and efficiently.... and also bring some new cut off handles for my water box that I have requested. Thank you for your good work! Jacob Armstrong did my annual plumbing inspection in May 2025. I always appreciate his knowledge, advice and suggestions. He is 5 star! Thank you!! Today I had Jacob Armstrong and Eric and they were great! Answered all my questions, fixed what needed fixing,'and installed a new faucet for my laundry room. They were complete and neat and I always appreciate their knowledge. Always polite as well. Helped me with some other questions and tasks. Thank you. Josh and Clint were on time and professional. Very knowledgeable and clean and precise, they did a full home plumbing check. Gave me some options to make my plumbing more up to date. I appreciate them and use the company for all my plumbing needs.
So glad I found this company on Yelp! The men that came to the house were great! Very nice, professional, answered all of my questions, and best of all- fixed the problem!!! After taking off work for the afternoon to meet a different plumbing company, I was told they did not have the ability to fix our clogged kitchen sink. I would need to find a company that was able to climb on the roof and enter the pipes through the vent because the clog was too deep in the pipe for ground maintenance. I called around and the earliest any company could send someone out would be tomorrow afternoon. I understand that isn't very long, but not ideal since I already took vacation time for one plumber and we are running out of frozen dinners (no kitchen sink equals no ability to wash dishes)! I called Public Service Plumbers around 1:00 pm and they were here by 3:00 pm. The woman I spoke with when I called fit me in same day and was incredibly kind on the phone! All around it was a great experience and I would recommend them!
The plumber that came out was courteous and did clean up, but I had a big problem with their pricing structure that wasn't fully revealed until after the work was done. It turns out they have a "materials" charge for several things that aren't really materials but rather the use of equipment, such as a basic augur ($15 materials fee), etc. They also charged $10 for him using gloves and a rag to wipe up. I called to talk to them about it and said it's the first time a plumber has charged me an additional fee (on top of the 146/hr fee) for the use of their tools, plus I had mentioned before I had the same augur in my garage to the guy when he first showed up. To me this is the equivalent of a mechanic charging me extra to use a wrench, caliper or any other basic tool needed to do the job above and beyond the service fee. The office told me that's what they have to do and have done for 50 years, end of story. Oh well, the search continues for a go-to plumber I can fully trust.
My double kitchen sink was clogged with food and water, and the garbage disposal was backed up and not working. Your team came to unclog it on Tuesday, April 21 2026, and they did a great job. I asked them if they had time to work on a slow-draining tub in the master bathroom, which they were able to address quickly. Lastly, the recommended that Taylor come to clear out sludge in the drainage pipes from the kitchen sink. Taylor arrived the next day and explained what he was doing, about how long it would take, and allowed my 85 lb gentle Goldendoodle to supervise! My son recommended Public Service Plumbers to me years ago and are the only plumbers I have used since then. I appreciate the team’s professionalism and detailed information regarding safety, cost, replacement part availability and timing. I also signed up for a maintenance package. Excellent service. Thank you.
In short, we used to love Public Service Plumbers, now we don't as much. The premium service wasn't really worth it. The work is good, and their plumbers were always super friendly. We used Public Service Plumbers and even subscribed to their premium service due to our home's age. Unfortunately, there was a time where they left us stranded, even with this premium service. The pricing was pretty high for most projects, even simple ones. However, their work is very good! If you have a disaster like we did, they'll work with insurance and ensure city code and permits are proper. One of their plumbers recommended an awful water damage company that was different than the one the company recommends and cost us a bunch of money, time and stress. When I called to discuss this with the company, they blew me off. Don't hire American Water Damage if a plumber recommends them.
