From the initial call to schedule a repair to the actual service, the entire experience was top-notch. We had a plumbing emergency, and Ray got a plumber out to our home in about an hour and a half. Mr. Krum did an excellent job, was very detailed and explained the entire problem and process. The price was fair and work was high-quality. I appreciate the after-service emails documenting the repair process, faulty parts and replacement parts. Well done!
Just bought a house that needed a new sewer line, and went with Plumb Works after getting a few quotes because of their attention to detail, friendly customer service, willingness to work within our budget, and extended warranty. The work included running a trench and cutting out part of the driveway, which they returned to good condition when finished. I would recommend them for any job.
Wow. I'm not joking...I told my wife I had goosebumps after I got off the phone with Andrew, the technician that fixed several gas leaks and an improperly vented water heater for a blind, senior neighbor here in Kirkwood. It's SO nice to deal with a friendly, confident, competent, technician who genuinely cares and is trying to help you get the best value for your (non-profit's) money while doing the highest quality work. I LOVED my experience from calling to schedule the appointment to the quickly resolved gas leak for my senior neighbor. Great company, great customers service, great technicians.
They charged me over 200 dollars just to change the rubber gasket.
First let me say that other Review sites have much, much lower ratings than Yelp. I wonder why. If I had checked the other sites first I probably would have passed on Plumb Works. Check out the other sites and make up your own mind. I was attempting to do 2 minor repairs for my girlfriend: replace a couple of bathtub drains. They were old, nasty looking, and the cross-ties inside, off course, broke off when I attempted to unscrew them. I bought an exactor tool and tried again. One came out without too much drama and I installed the new drain. The other one, however, was much more challenging. The tool got such a good grip that I could not remove it from the drain. Meanwhile, the first drain started leaking and water was dripping into the living room below. I had to admit that I was beaten and my girlfriend called Plumb Works. I told her that I would pay for the repairs since it was my idea to replace the drains that she thought were perfectly O.K. I figured maybe $2-300.00 to resolve the issues. Boy was I wrong!!! Of course there was the $69.00 dispatch fee that would be credited to the repairs. So far, so good. The plumber who arrived seemed a bit young for a Mater Plumber so my girlfriend called Plumb Works and was told that the plumber was a Journeyman. She said she was paying for a Master Plumber and she wanted a Master Plumber but was assured that the plumber was a good one. The plumber inspected the first tub and quoted $795.00!!! This tub is in a rental carriage house apartment with a new tenant coming in next week, so we reluctantly agreed. Apparently this was going to be a 2-man job, so a second plumber was called in. The other tub was a simple remove and re-seal the drain that I had installed. Without boring you with all the details (too late....) the tab for the two repairs was a bit under $1000.00 for about 3 hours labor and maybe $40.00 in parts. By my math, it works out to about $160.00 per hour per man. Maybe that's the going rate, I have no idea, I just know that it was a LOT higher than I could have possibly imagined. I will say that the work performed seems to have been done well and professionally. So far we have not found any leaks, but it has only been 1 day and no one has used either tub yet. I have no problem with the quality of the work done or the skills of the plumbers. Both were nice, friendly, and professional. My only complaint is the outrageous charges. I think $160.00 an hour is way too high.
We had a leaking shower (head) and a faucet in the bathroom for several months, so based on our search in the 2011 Consumer Reports, we scheduled an appointment with Plumb Works last week. The scheduling part was easy, and the lady on the phone even gave us a discount coupon of $25 for being first-time customers. The only uncomfortable thing about the appointment was the $69 plumber dispatch fees, which would be waived if we decided to get the work done from them. The plumber, let's call him Mr. J, showed up on time (an hour earlier, in fact), had a look at the two leaks and prepared an invoice for fixing those. $272 for the shower, and $158 for the faucet. He offered the service plan for a year that would cost us only $30 extra for this job and would make us a "priority" customer for future jobs. We declined that, and even though the invoice price sounded a lot more than what we had expected, decided to get the shower fixed. Now let me mention here that the shower leak frequency was about 1 drop per second (and I'm not exaggerating). Mr. J looked at the shower faucet (knob) over and again, and had absolutely no clue how to open it. He tried to use force to pull the knob out, which obviously did not work. My wife and I were looking over his shoulder and pointed to him that there is a disc at the top of the knob's handle which gets unscrewed, but that is all we know. He unscrewed it, but could not figure out what to do next. He then concluded that he would need to take the whole panel off the shower wall to fix it. Coincidentally or on purpose, one of the panel screw's head was completely stripped which obviously made it hard to take the panel out. Mr. J prepared a new invoice containing an additional cost of $140 to drill the stripped screw. We decided we could not spend $400+ to get a dripping shower fixed, paid Mr. J the dispatch fees of $69 and figured we would just live with the leak. In the meantime, the 1 drop per second drip had now become a streaming tap because of whatever Mr. J did. Instead of admitting that the leak had got way worse than what it was and working out a deal with me, Mr. J kept repeating (at least 5 times), "It's the same as it was, I need to take out the panel to fix it". Finally when his nerves calmed down, he agreed that it "might have" got worse and there's nothing he can do to bring it back to the way it was. At that point, I obviously wanted to speak with Mr. J's manager. Mr. J had a hard time explaining the situation to his manager. I was handed over the phone and heard a cheerful voice of Mr. L. I think I did a good job of politely explaining to him what the problem was and all I wanted from Mr. J was to bring the leak back to the way it was. Mr. L's cheerful voice was out of the window by then and he coldly said, "This could just be a coincidence and it would only get worse. I need to go the whole nine yards and get the work done by Mr. J and there was no way to bring it back to the way it was." When I kept insisting, he said Mr. J could put a stopper in the shower head that would prevent it from leaking, which I was really glad to hear. BUT that would cost me extra because Mr. J was doing work on my house. I told him that he is having to do this work as a consequence of what he did himself, but he was not willing to listen. I just gave up, hung up the phone and asked Mr. J to leave. All this happened at around 11:00 am and pretty much ruined my day. I was not mad, but I was depressed that there are people out there who run a business without any integrity, honesty, moral values and courtesy. And such people are still in business. On my way back to work, I called up the lady who had scheduled my appointment and asked her if there was any way to file an official complain with someone in Plumb Works. She told me that she would have the owner of the company call me back, but that never happened. And Mr. J, if you ever happen to read this, there is no need to take out the whole panel. The front of the faucet DOES open up.
Buyer's Remorse... it's a sucky feeling but I have had nothing but Buyer's Remorse since having a service appointment from Plumb Works at my home a few days ago... I am feeling personally cheated and much more than slightly "taken" ... I randomly chose Plumb Works for this minor job (replacing the 'flapper' and inner guts of a toilet in my home) ... my mistake was not checking Yelp first... Or Kudzu (at least) where Plumb Works is much more reviled. Plumb Works did a "good job." And they were (more or less) on time... "BUT..." The contact page on their website was throwing out error codes so I had to phone them for an appointment. They tell you over the phone it is a $69 service call charge, and then you will receive a quote --- the fact that they won't even give you a "ball park" fee/quote for even this most simple repair and that should have sent up a red flag for me as a consumer. So I had the Plumb Works technicians come over... they arrived on time (mostly) and quickly diagnosed the "running toilet" (which took all of two minutes, that was a rough one)... they went out to their truck and returned with an estimate of ... are you ready for this? ... $247(!) along with a 'hard sell' for an extended service contract.Their estimate sheet/work order/receipt has an additional column on it showing you how much you will "save" off the current service if you fork over another $80 for extended service contract. By this time you get the "quote", you are already "in" for the "$69 service call" (in theory that is, ya gotta wonder how many people have sent them packing at this point...) then, during the time they are in your home, Plumb Works will try to diagnose all the rest of the plumbing problems they can find and want to fix them right then and there ... all the while pushing their "service contract", which they call a Universal Service Agreement ("USA", a silly Acronym for what should be referred to a Plumb Works Service Agreement... )They love this Agreement so much there is a box on the estimate sheet/work order/receipt with a 'stop sign' icon and bold letters proclaiming "Want To Pay Less? Do you know by becoming a 'usa' member you will receive discounts on repair services and other valuable benefits..." Then, if you decline this valued service you have to initial the box... Wow! Way to Hard Sell, Plumb Works!!! I think the prices that Plumb Works is trying to charge are more appropriate for huge office buildings, restaurants and real estate other than common homes. We ain't the One Percent in this neighborhood... Plumb Works, get a clue. And here is the clue for you, Plumb Works ... Consider the number of irritated customers here and on Kudzu that you have left in your wake ... Multiply that number by the number of those who don't post ... And I would say it it high time to change your business practices and pricing structure. People don't appreciate being ripped off... Next stop: the BBB PS And of course they accept credit cards, how else are you going to pay these fees???
NOVEMBER 4TH 2021 - Absolutely exemplary service! Called them yesterday due to a shaking/rattling pipe and another with a slight leak. Everyone I talked to on the phone were kind and understanding in such a "what could be wrong" type moment. When people can make you laugh during such times you know you called the right place. Set up a tech to come out next day. Kass the tech was amazing. Arrived early. Clearly explained to me the cause of the issue with my pressure regulator. Let me know all pricing and then knocked out the job in an hour! He was super nice and now Plumb Works has a customer for life! UPDATE: JULY 13TH 2023 - We had discovered on July the 12th that our upstairs master bedroom's (now and office) toilet had a slow, but long running, leak from the shut off valve. We have some damage to our roof tiles in the garage and some water marks on the garage wall. I called Plumb Works at a bit before 1 PM. They sent out Jerome Bentley by right before 3 that same day! He replaced that valve and I asked for the rest of the upstairs valves to be replaced as well. Absolutely excellent job! He was very kind and funny which goes a long way when your dealing with a stressful situation like this. This is Plumb Works third visit to our house, first the pressure regulator valve and main line shut off valve replacement, then replacing the upstairs kitchen valves when our faucet burst and lastly the rest of the upstairs valves after our toilet valve leak. They are an amazing company. From the professional aspects to just the general kindness to another human going through a tough spot. From the first person you talk to when you call to the tech leaving your home after the job is done, they take great care of their customers! UPDATE: MARCH 27TH 2026 - We had been having some water hammer issues on the line leading to our kitchen sink and dishwasher. Anytime the dishwasher ran we would get seriously hard and loud slams to that pipe. I could also tell our water pressure had been increasing ever so slightly. Lastly noticed a slight water hammer hit happening with our downstairs toilet. Figured our PRV might have been failing. Called Plumb Works on Friday at 8:15AM and their incredible tech Eric Ponder was at our home right at 10AM. He was super friendly and kind during the visit. Quickly tested out water pressure and it was at 90. It should have been at 60 so we knew the PRV had gone. He also realized out water heater expansion tank was nearly full of water thus it had failed also. He had both replaced within an hour or so. Both are in a separate room along with our furnace and it looked like he was never even there afterwards. Again another amazing job by Plumb Works and their extraordinary team. Kudos to Eric Ponder for being a delight to chat with during a stressful situation and helping remedy it incredibly quickly.
I would NEVER recommend the Plumb Works location for Water Heater Repair. They were very nice and cordial when I called, and I received a call when the plumber was on his way BUT this is when I began to worry. I described the issue to him (pilot light not lighting) on the phone and right away he said I will come and look at it but most of the time we just have to replace the full water heater. I explained to him the unit was only 3 years old and he said he would be there to look at it soon. After arriving at my house he spent about 3 minutes looking at the unit, tried to light the pilot light (just like I had tried this am) clicked around on his iPad and then informed me that I would need a new unit. I asked if he would do any diagnostics on it and he said he knew the problem and it would need to be fully replaced. I then asked for a quote for the replacement, still not convinced as he has now only been in my house for less then 10 minutes. He then quoted me $1,995 for a new water heater, we just replaced one (from another company) at our old house across town for around $1,000 - I asked about why the cost was so high and he explained that if I had a issue with the cost I could call Home Depot because Plumb Works sells their own brand and it would cost more. I decline his offer, payed the $69 fee for him to come to my house and DO NOTHING and then he proceeds to leave. After I called another plumbing company from across town who we had worked with before, they are quick to respond spent about 30 min troubleshooting my unit, finds out it is under warranty, callis in the part (which was a small bulb on the back of the machine that was broken) and for less than $100 I have hot water again. I cannot imagine if I had dropped $1,995 with Plum Works for a full new unit when it was just a light bulb. They did nothing to help and did not even try and solve the problem. DO NOT USE THEM. You will be ripped off.
A nasty sewer issue within the crawl space of my basement was found on a weekend. With the help of google and yelp, I decided to call Plumb Works for help. They scheduled Spencer to come within a couple hours of me calling and I agreed to the weekend/off hour service charge. Spencer showed as promised, assessed the situation and tried his best to access the issue. Unfortunately, Spencer just wasn't able to get to the area because of the lack of clearance. He informed me that Plumb Works does have other service agents that can access the area and that customer service will call me first thing Monday morning to schedule. And no charge for his visit. As promised, they called at 8:10AM Monday. The service rep, Katie, was fully aware of the situation and had Leslie come later in the day. I didn't have to explain anything. Spencer took care of all that. Leslie came, got in the area, took all the notes needed and shared what was needed to be done. And to do it right, she needed more resources so we scheduled Wednesday for the repair with extra pair of hands. It's now Wednesday afternoon. Repair done and it took less time than originally thought so a discount from the initial quote was given. The scope of work remained the same and having it done quicker than thought was great for me yet they gave me the discount! It may have taken a couple of tries and a few days to get it done but I knew it wasn't an easy fix. Their level of attention was excellent. I honestly thought I had to call them Monday and explain the situation all over again. Everything they said they will do they did in a timely manner and workmanship is clearly top notch.
Well, shoot. I called them because of their great reviews, but am really disappointed. I'll start from the beginning. We rent, so needed owner approval for them to come work. Danny came in, I showed him the leaky kitchen faucet, disposal leak and troublesome toilet. He immediately wanted to replace everything, costing around $900!! Maybe it's because I'm just a little lady and shouldn't know better, but I do know that a flapper is around $10 and easy to install- their price $175 then he add that I should do the whole back of the toilet for $275 (water valve about $20 at the store). He sat in his truck for about an hour waiting to hear from the owner to approve the costly new disposal and never got in contact with her and said that he couldn't just repair the leak. Although I was googling this at the time, and saw lots of references that it could be repaired. Unfortunately, it had to be taken care of quickly and we had already decided to go ahead with it and deal with the landlord later. So after an 8am arrival, he started work around 9:45 and wrapped up around 10:45. When I asked about the leaky faucet, he acted like it would be such a huge deal to replace an O ring and basically refused. I guess that's not a high dollar job. They didn't tell me about the $69 service charge when I called and they did try to up sell me on an $89/year upgrade of some sort that offered a 'discount' price on services. Basically they can't 'fix' anything, they just want to install new everything. I won't call them again and regret calling them in the first place.
Do not use this company. I was required to do a lot of extra work that was unnecessary. A leak turned into almost $1000 total to be fixed with me purchasing the fixture, I replaced the studs, and added extra, and I initially cut out the drywall for them to work in the area of the leak! They just needed to replace a fixture! I asked the technician to give me a minute to process the cost. He followed me and kept talking about how it wasn't HIS PRICING! I'm angry and ask for him to wait on my porch for his Boss who was on his way, supposedly! (JOSH) He left and went and parked on the next street. Would not come back to the job! He couldn't do it! He tried to blow up the price! I had already bought a "Plumb Works Plan" to help my cost go down! Yeah! It didn't! Not significantly enough for it to make a difference! I realize plumbing is expensive! But I did most of the work and then they couldn't finish the job! Bad customer service EXCEPT FOR SHANNON! But she's the office manager. Not in the field. The plumbers are NOT all LICENSED! They are NOT CERTIFIED, and Chris Jones was in Training!!!! Maybe that's why he walked off the job, claiming I couldn't be worked with? DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
I recently hired Plumb Works Atlanta to repair a burst pipe, now after about one month later their replacement pipe failed and now I have no water due to shutoff from city. I paid $600 for the work of Plumb Works, which was supposed to provide a lasting fix, and it included a thorough inspection ($100). The inspection meant nothing as the supposed fix was only a bandaid. If more work was required for a lasting fix, why would the inspection not have revealed that and informed me? Even worse, I was lead on to believe that the inspection/dispatch would be subtracted from the total balance of work when I agreed to pay for the replacement / repair of the burst pipe, which never happened. I paid $600 to Plumb Works for ultimately no solution and to have the same problem. Currently I have no water to my home. I've been calling Plumb Works since yesterday, left voice mails, but they are sending it to voicemail every time. I have lost even more $ due to the leaking water consumption in both cases ($1500). Plumb Works only robbed me further $600 and provided no lasting solution or help. 0 stars unless Plumb Works can respond and make amends for the issue.
I had this company repair a leaking shower faucet. They charge a $69 trip fee regardless of whether you decide to use them or not. I knew that I needed a new cartridge which is $38 at home depot. Their total estimate was $368 which included the $69 trip fee. I thought that was high but decided to just get it over with and they offered a $25 coupon for new customers.. We agreed to the price and he said he had the parts in his truck to do the work. Thirty minutes later, he informed me that he had to saw off the handle and I needed to either purchase a new one or else he would have to charge me additional fees. He said he would do me a favor and order the part from Delta and I could install it myself for free. He said it was easy to do. Anyway a week later (without a shower to use) the part arrived. I am not a plumber and I couldn't figure out how to install it. I called them back and they said it would be an additional fee. Why would I even call a plumber if I could do it myself? I escalated to the manager and he sent another plumber to fix it without any additional fees.If you use this company make sure to get everything in writing up front.
Terrific experience with Plumb Works. The plumber we originally scheduled to do the work cancelled at the last minute and we needed to move quickly. Found Plumb Works on Yelp and the customer service from the start was outstanding. I explained the situation and they were able to schedule a service call around our schedule. Received a reminder call the afternoon before the appointment and an email about an hour before Nate arrived. Nate was on time and spent about an hour reviewing the situation and any questions we might have. When he returned the next day to start he was on time and the repairs were started as soon as he came in the door. Nate was here from 9AM - 7PM to complete the job and could not have been nicer or more professional. It was really a pleasure to have him on the job, he is super personable. Project was completed and by the time Nate left the unit it was as clean as it was when he arrived. My wife and I were saying that it was a good thing the original plumber cancelled because we really lucked out with Plumb Works and Nate. Would recommend them highly.
