I’ve used Pipe Wrench before so called about a heating issue. They came and identified the issue quickly. They also noticed something off with the second heating system. (He mention a symptom which I actually had.) Had him fix both. Very informative. Very polite & professional.
I have only kind words to say about Pipe Wrench. I have been faced with a large plumbing problem. Pipe Wrench has been so nice and helpful. Cory, the technician, has been helpful and understanding. Corey and Jayden, the plumbers, are polite, clean and neat. I hope Corey and Jayden are on the team to continue with phase 2 of my work. Corey explained everything to me and helped me understand the situation. I recommend Pipe Wrench and ask for Cory to come and give you an estimate. All technicians should be as knowledgeable and understanding as Cory. Pipe Wrench finished my plumbing project. Everyone has been very pleasant and professional. Rich and Tom finished the restoration after the plumbing was complete. They did an amazing job. Thank you to everyone. I don’t typically leave reviews, but I have to brag on Louis from Pipe Wrench. This guy is awesome. We called in after hours for an emergency clog and he was on site in under an hour. He was exactly the presence we needed tonight. Unfortunately, we had more of an issue than just the clog. Louis is a great plumber- even better person. We had the best experience. Louis is very knowledgeable and had a great attitude- even after crawling around under our house at 10pm! He discovered a pretty major issue and his concerns are valid. He spent time and gave great detail in explaining what he found and walked us through the possible outcomes. He took pictures to show us where the problems were. We will be using Pipe Wrench to fix our unfortunate mess. Thanks so much! Look forward to a call from the office in the morning to get our issue resolved. Thanks, Louis!
Called around 8 p.m. on 12/26/22 to see if they could clean out a clogged sewer line. The lady I spoke with told me my information would be passed to the main office and someone would get in touch with me the next day. I called back the next day on 12/27/22 around 9 a.m. to see if I could get an estimate on if/when someone would contact me. The person I spoke with had a record of my previous call and said "this is for a bathroom sink, correct". I said, "no I have a clogged sewer line". I was informed my information was updated and I would be contacted later in the morning. As of this writing on 12/28/22, no one has contacted me. Fortunately I was able to find another agency which was able to unclog my sewer. Trying not to be too critical as the weather has been awful and caused many people to suffer broken pipes due to freezing. However, if your company is too busy to help me, you should say so, rather than tell me someone will get back with me "later this morning". Still waiting to see if anyone calls me!
Today was strike three against this company. First they serviced our air conditioner and told us we had a Freon leak. They said they could send a camera through the line and if it had to be repaired, everything would cost $1000. Called another company and there was a piece of mulch in the valve where the Freon is put in. They removed the mulch filled it with Freon and it was fine. Second problem, one of our furnaces wouldn't turn on. We didn't have any heat when it was cold outside and they told me on a Friday that they couldn't come out till Monday. I thought being a member and paying the membership we would get service right away. That is not true. I wound up calling another company that fixed it the same day. Third strike, the company was scheduled to come out to do the yearly maintenance on our furnaces and they called and canceled due to the amount of phone calls for service. As a member paying the monthly membership fee, I expect to have service when I need it. That is what they advertise, I'm considering canceling and looking for another company. This is ridiculous. Do not use this company.
11 minutes ago NEW First of all, I just want to say I had no issues using them before to install a hot water heater. But when it got to me re-plumbing the whole house, it got a little more complicated which the technicians were able to do an upgrade in a two day increment. my problem is after they were done with the job they left the old junk down in the basement laying all over the place did not remove it didn't offer to remove it and when I called the company apologized and said that this is not how things are usually done. I can't remove it because of the location and the basement far back I can't reach it there's galvanized steel laying back there, old PVC, piping, etc. nothing was removed. Stuff was left laying on the floor as well in my basement for the second part of the job the next day I want to add, the technician obviously did not want to tackle the job. He said that he needed to call the sales person to see what it was going to charge to do it the extra work to replumb my shower, which was part of the original deal. I guess he thought that I would be intimidated by the threat of calling to see if they were going to charge me more so I could just say leave it alone. The technician said, I could leave it alone until it became a "problem". My question to him was, why would I want to leave it alone at all when I paid for the entire house to re-piped? I realized why he said that after he came back the next day, it took nearly the whole day to do this one particular area so I can understand why he did not really want to tackle it and was trying to avoid it. Sorry, but that's not the point I paid for it to be done. though everything is working as it should, I think only time will tell. First the good, and the reason there are 3 stars and not 1. I have used P&W on multiple occasions and the work has always been completed as agreed. The technicians have always been courteous, knowledgeable and efficient. The most recent job I had to replace all of the pipes in my crawlspace was completed by Tyler and Cody and the "field manager/salesman" owes those young fellas a beverage of their choice. I will get to that when I explain the bad. I recently had my tankless water water flushed and my crawlspace dehumidifier serviced. Both jobs were completed satisfactorily and at a fair price. During the examination of my plumbing a few pinhole leaks in my 30ish year old copper pipes were found. I was shown the pictures and asked if a visit from a field manager was ok to further assess my options. The field manager/salesman came and took pictures and advised that my best option was to replace all of my copper piping underneath my home. I hesitated, as it was a significant cost and said that I really wanted to think about it and get a second opinion. The salesman (FYI, I have been in professional sales and/or self employed for almost 30 years) said "what if I can incentivize you to not get a second opinion" to which I replied....let's hear it. He called his manager and knocked off almost $700 if I agreed then and there to do the work. I did. I realize I agreed to that, I should've listened to my gut....I knew better. The day of the job comes and Cody and Tyler replace the pipes as agreed, and on the first test there is gushing water underneath the downstairs bathroom. Apparently a tie in for drainage was missed during the field managers evaluation and now to access and cap the leak, my living room wall was going to be carved open. They kindly offered a free access point aka plastic shoved into the hole in the wall. I did not want a hole in the wall in my living room. So I said, you missed this, you fix it. The answer back was...Ok, that'll be another $4-500 to patch your drywall. My response to put it succinctly; was no it won't cost me another penny. Worth noting; while they did offer to let me keep my copper pipes to recycle myself I declined....so they definitely had an added profit center there. Let's go back to me being self employed and in sales. I screw up, I eat it. I, like everyone am not perfect. If I miss it, I eat it. They missed it, tried to charge me more, and argued with me about it. I kept my cool, but my anger was visible. I believe it was Tyler who sorted the situation and realized he could cut into the wall with minimal invasiveness, and did so. He preserved the drywall and even cut it near a stud so it was screwed back in when he left. I looked at it and it was a much smaller hole than originally proposed...I told him I will patch it myself, we're done here. Again, Tyler and Cody saved the day, I was furious. I was shown pictures of the work. It was done very well. With that said. I know better and should not have caved. Had I waited and spoke with friends and other vendors, I would have held off on this major work. While they did it well, they pressured me to do it. Don't fall for a "discount" to ignore your gut. Also, don't agree to their first price. I 100% regret getting the last last job done.
Oof. Not a good experience. Not completely bad, as the lady on the phone was nice. But the quote I was eventually given during the plumber's visit was ridiculously high. Fortunately I knew enough to recognize the gouging that was going on, instead of giving them the green light. Minor dripping from two faucets. I knew what needed to be done...basically a single cartridge replacement for both faucets. But typically I'd rather professionals do it than going the DIY route myself. But they quoted me over $400 per faucet...claiming that they'd need to do a full rebuild of each faucet. A FULL REBUILD. I knew that was BS right off the bat, so I said "no". So they then told me they'd give me a discount to bring the ridiculous price down to $350 per faucet...which was still insanely high for such a basic fix. So I declined that price as well, and sent them on their way. After that, I continued my DIY research and ended up acquiring the single part I needed for each sink. One part was a single cold-water replacement cartridge to remedy the drip. That part retails for a whopping $7...and it took a whopping 10 minutes to pull out the old cartridge and install the new one. ...and the other faucet I fixed successfully in the same way. I should also add that I contacted the manufacturer of both faucets, and they sent me those replacement cartridges FREE OF CHARGE. Glad I wasn't a sucker by paying $700+ for something that I fixed basically for free, and maybe 30 minutes of my time to complete it. OK, now that I've shared the success that I had with repairing those faucets for damn-near free. Here's another fun-fact. I told the person who quoted me that outrageous charge while he was at my house, that the faucets that I had retailed at $40 and $80 brand new. But he still insisted that his company would still have to do a complete rebuild of the inner components of each one, for a total of a "discounted" price of $700+. WOW!!! I mean, do the very simple math. Why rebuild those faucets for $700-$800 when I could just buy two new faucets for a grand total of $120, tops?!! When I told the plumber guy at my house that, he just answered, in a rather defeated voice, "Man...I know...I totally understand. That's just how they(his company) do it. I wouldn't be able to afford that quote either." Like, he totally knew they were price gouging, and he knew it. What a crazy experience. It was such a blatant display of horrible customer service. It was laughable. I'll wrap this review up with another nugget of info. Several years back, I had used this business to update ALL of the plumbing in my house to pex piping...and they did a wonderful job with it...BACK THEN. So, whatever happened between then and now with this company(Pipe Wrench Plumbing, Heating & Cooling), is beyond me. Something really bad happened between then and now. Because their business ethic has really taken a nose-dive since then. In final, after what I've shared here, I will NEVER call this company for repairs again...nor will I ever in my right-mind recommend them to anyone(besides my enemies..lol)
Sometimes, one must question the 'vetting' process that franchise folk undertake when examining those who wish to fly their corporate flag. Or, in some cases, even if there IS a vetting process. Sadly, I have discovered yet another poor example of non-service last week; today's review subject, "Pipe Wrench Plumbing". About once a year, my home sewer line needs a bit of maintenance, not an emergency, but needed if guests are arriving shortly before the maintenance date is due. It's a simple task, but necessary with the increased usage that weekend guests create. Having seen one of the Pipe Wrench trucks out and about, I noted the contact number, checked their website, and gave them a call to arrange service two days in advance. At the time of my initial call, I explained the nature of the needed service (in order that the service tech would be prepared), and arranged a firm appointment time for the first service visit of their work day (in order to avoid the service 'back-up' {NO pun intended!} that inevitably occurs during a work day. The appointed day arrived, and so did the appointed hour. Alas, 15; 30; 45 minutes passed with no service tech, and no phone call explaining his absence. Finally, after almost an hour passed, a large white truck bearing their logo arrived. From past experience, I knew that I was within an hour of moving this task from my day's agenda. Service tech arrived, placed shoe covers on his shoes (nice touch), and proceeded to listen and agree with my situation and its remedy. Unfortunately, although he agreed it was "A simple Job" he "didn't have the piece of equipment on the truck" needed for the task, and he'd "need to go and pick it up". He announced he'd be back at 2:00 pm "firm". So much for moving the task from the agenda. A day totally blown, but at least I'd be ready for the weekend. The appointed hour arrived, then 15; 30; 45; 60 minutes passed. Well past an hour later I called their office, in order to inquire regarding my service call. The dispatcher explained that my tech had been delayed on another call. Another call? And, to top it off, the dispatcher couldn't offer a firm "when or IF" my service call would be taken care of on the appointed day. However, she quickly (almost too quickly) offered a 25$ discount, to be used when I rescheduled. (Hmmmm, 25$, to offset an entire lost day's salary!!) I cancelled totally, and called another plumber, who arrived shortly thereafter, took care of my maintenance work, and was gone within an hour of his appearance. In his words, "No big deal, this." So, I can't comment upon Pipe Wrench regarding their plumbing skills. However, if their plumbing skills are in measure to their management and scheduling skills, I'm well-off in escaping with just a lost day's salary. EDIT: The replacement plumber mentioned that with a larger company, one takes the luck of the draw. You might get an experienced plumber, or someone new to the craft. Guess that was his way of saying, "Your results may vary!"
My 80 year old mother called Pipe Wrench because her heater was louder than normal. As advertised, they came that afternoon. The charge was $95 to diagnose the problem, which, they diagnosed as a filter behind the blower. They quoted her $850 to effect the repair to the unit, which is in her basement. They scheduled her for the next day, Friday, March 15, 2024. She called me to ask if I thought the cost was reasonable. I told her it sounded high, but that there must be parts that need replaced, and that could account for it. I suggested she get another quote, but she was scared of the forecasted 28 degrees on Monday, so she approved the repair. They cancelled the next day because of "rain" (the repair is all indoors), and said they would come Tuesday, 3/19/2024. Two technicians came, unscrewed the blower fan, took out the filter, rinsed it off with mother's hose, put it back in, put the blower back in, and we're gone in 45 mins. (She timed them). No parts replaced, filter rinsed and put back, blower screwed back in, and gone- they charged a frightened 80 year old woman $800 for that. I called them this afternoon to get a detailed invoice with rates and parts. The service manager said that "that's not how we price jobs". That is very convenient. He did say that he would reimburse the original $95 service call and asked "will that make this right?" I told him that while I appreciate the gesture, charging $800 to a frightened 80 year old for a filter cleaning is unconscionable. His response was "well, she agreed to it." Again, unconscionable to treat an 80 year old woman that way. She defended using Pipe Wrench until today, when she said "well, son- they got me. I suppose it's my fault. I let them take advantage of me". Pipe Wrench made a lot of money from my mother today, but it's the last they will make from anyone in my family, among my friends, or people I work with. This 100% accurate account will be repeated often to protect people from a predatory pricing structure.
We called Pipe Wrench Plumbing to explain we had an active leak in an upstairs toilet, and that water was coming through the ceiling, and that the shutoff valve had failed so we couldn't stop the leak without turning water off to the entire house. We needed someone to come out same day. They said no problem, and put us on the schedule for later that day. So far so good. But the person who showed up had no tools. They sent a sales person instead of a plumber. After a few minutes of inspecting the toilet, this sales person went outside, then came back in and informed us that the pressure in our pipes was extremely high, about 150psi, which meant our pressure regulator had failed. He explained this high pressure can damage toilets and other plumbing fixtures in the house, and that it explained the leaking toilet upstairs, and that problems like this are common when a pressure regulator fails. He said it was a huge priority to get the pressure regulator replaced, and quoted $800 for that, plus several more hundred to fix the toilet itself, and the shutoff valve. I was surprised by this, because we had replaced the pressure regulator about a year before. I thought maybe the previous installers had done something wrong. So I went to Home Depot and bought a $12 pressure meter. I went to the same hose faucet that he used outside, to measure the pressure myself. It was 35 psi. I called so that management would know that I got a different reading from the sales person, and that I didn't think we actually needed the pressure regulator replaced. The manager and sales person came out again, together, and tested the pressure again. The manager confirmed it was 35 psi, like I had measured, and there was nothing wrong with our pressure regulator. The manager said it was just a case where the sales person was using a bad pressure meter, and they would get him a new one. I will let the reader draw their own conclusions.
My heating went out and since it was winter, I needed it back very badly. I went online and located Pipe Wrench as a local place that could repair the unit. They first sent a technician who came out and diagnosed that my blower motor was broken and needed to be replaced. He said it would be in the realm of $800. However, he said that he could not provide a quote himself, and that another person would need to come out to do so. I found this strange, but within a few hours the second person did arrive. He then immediately started to tell me that not only was the blower motor out, but that it failed due to my ducting being too small. He quoted me the $700-800 for the motor, PLUS another $2000 to replace the ducting. On top of that, he also recommended that we MOVE the outside unit further from the house, for another $1700. As icing on the cake, he recommended that we actually replace the entire unit for a whopping total of over $10,000. While I may have been willing to spend the $700-800 for the repair, I decided that it was time for a second opinion because I felt strongly via the tactics and verbiage being used that this was a sales person at work. A second company came out, and went outside to investigate. Within MINUTES of being outside, I heard the fan kick back on in the house. He came back in, and informed me that the blower motor was not dead, but that the capacitor simply needed to be changed. He confirmed that ANY trained technician would have definitely checked this and that I was definitely being put through the ringer. My heat was repaired for a total of $75. I cannot endorse Pipe Wrench due to their use of high pressure sales tactics and either their ignorance or blatant lying as to the cause of the actual issue. I suspect they are more accustomed to clientele that have more money than sense.
At Pipe Wrench, the technicians appear to be part time plumbers and part time salesman. They did good work when I retained them, but they are expensive and try to oversell their services. So far, I have retained Pipe Wrench to replace a water stop ($300) and another visit to replace my water pressure valve (somewhere near $700). A couple of years ago I called with a question about how much it usually cost to fix a leaking outdoor spigot. I was rather rudely told they won't tell me unless they charge me $95 for a site visit. I recently called them about a leaking water spigot. As usual, I was asked how old my HVAC, water heater, and water pressure valve was. I was being setup for a sales evaluation and presentation. The plumbing technician arrived on time but was rude. He told me they would charge approximately $300 to try and fix the spigot or $700 to replace it. He also told me that I needed to replace the water heater (for over $2000) and to replace the water pressure valve at $1000. The same water heater that was not causing me any problems. He tried to prove that my pressure valve was "blown" by showing me that the water pressure was too high by installing a pressure gauge at one of my external spigots. When I bought a pressure checker at a local home maintenance retailer to verify his claim, I noted that the water pressure was well within acceptable limits and there is no pressure issue on my supply line. Not really sure why his meter showed a higher value than a brand new. So, they wanted to charge me $4,100 in response to my request to have the leaking spigot fixed. I cannot recommend Pipe Wrench at all.
CLINTON, TN Requested sewer line clean out The auger was used and I felt that the clean out was accomplished, You can also get a FREE camera inspection of sewer line. My sewer line is part PVC and part cast iron, So after the clean out was done I said yes to the inspection, curious as to condition of cast iron. My invoice states "camera found line is separated and starting to collapse" . The "camera man" was also a salesman. He offered a few options to help give me a more permanent fix to prevent future blockage. All were very expensive and I did not have enough knowledge to make an informed decision. So I said no to all he offered. THEN NEW PROBLEMS AROSE: When the toilet was reset, they broke the knob on the water turn off valve and the service tech admitted he broke it. They wanted $290 to fix it in addition to the cost of the clean out! They were already on site and willingly admitted he broke it. I said no. I called a local retired plumber and he fixed it for $30. THEN, by the next day I was smelling a sewer odor inside the house. I called another plumber and he found a PVC pipe separated and all the sewage was flowing into the crawl space. Is that what Pipe Wrench camera man meant when he said line was separated? I was not told it was spilling into my crawl space. I had not had the smell of sewer prior to their service. Did the auger clean out cause the line to separate? I don't know.... Just beware This experience with Pipe Wrench was not good. And I hate that because it would be nice to get honest and reasonable service. Someone you WANT to do business with repeatedly....
We are in the unfortunate position where when we first moved into our house we used Pipe Wrench to replace major plumbing and heating components such as our tankless water heater and HVAC. We never had a problem with Pipe Wrench until a couple years ago when we needed a toilet valve replaced. The technician came in and insisted on checking all of the house's plumbing and came to us with a list of three or four things that needed to be repaired for $1,500+. When we declined, he left. Fast forward to yesterday, with our tankless hot water unit throwing an error code instead of hot water, we reluctantly had to call Pipe Wrench again for the first time in a while. Same darn thing happened. Technician insisted on checking all the plumbing in our house, I refused and pointed to the tankless hot water unit in our garage that I had opened and discovered a frayed wire to the sensor that was throwing an error code. He said water was still running in the house somewhere (probably another pinhole leak from our lovely 1990s copper plumbing, probably in our crawlspace) and he would need to do that repair before he could even do a diagnostic on the tankless hot water unit that had a frayed wire staring him in the face. I made up some excuse about the house being a mess and said he said he couldn't do the repair. Honestly, what the heck is this business model? This is like taking your car to the dealership for an oil change and the dealership finding two or three other issues unrelated to your oil change that they insist you fix so that they can change your oil otherwise they won't change your oil.
