Payless Water Heaters and Tankless Water Heaters

I had called Payless as there was some noise coming from our hot water system. They came on the same day after giving us lots of information about whom to expect and around what time. We were sent a photo id of the person coming. Donovan G arrived on time , had a thorough look and gave us advice on what our options were and based on that, we decided best option was to get the system changed. He very quickly gave us a quote and organized a time to come the next day in the morning so we could get hot water as soon as possible. Joel and Eduardo had helped him on the two days. They arrived earlier than their time, fixed the system, explained in detail what work was carried out, what to do in case of an emergency. Also explained in detail what the cost was. They left as quietly as they arrived and left the place very clean.

Overall fantastic experience. Scheduling was fast and easy. They let me know exactly when Tristan would arrive and he arrived right on time. He discovered serious issues with my existing water heater and walked me through my options. The options were good and flexible to my needs. Tristan had everything he needed and installed everything same day within about 4-5 hours, which was awesome. I wasn’t bothered at all during the installation, no hiccups or flagging cumbersome issues. They cleaned everything up like they were never there. The water heaters they sell are incredibly quiet. My Navien sounded like BART leaving a station every time it started up. Good riddance! Thanks Tristan!

Great service. Water heater went out thanksgiving day, Tristan came out first thing Friday morning. I was provided with a thorough and clear explanation of the status of my 20+year old water heater and my options on how to proceed. Tristan took extra time to answer all my questions thoroughly and did not push me on which path to go with. The work itself is immaculate and very well done. I feel good having a reliable, higher end, and properly installed water heater.

Service call was fair ($59) and the technician was very nice and professional. No complaints at all-Prompt and on time. The 3 yrs old hot water heater needed parts (gas control valve and an attached sensor), which were under warranty but Payless wanted to charge $750 to install the replacement, which I have been told by 4 different local companies that it takes between 15 and 20 minutes. Now I get there is a cost for knowledge but $2,250/hr ($750 /20 minutes x 3 = $2,250/hr).? Seriously???? Whatever happened to fair and reasonable business practices? Do we have to rip each other off like this? I mean, I understand that there is travel time, equipment, and repair truck cost but $2,250/hr? The repairman told me that everyone would be about the same but that in-fact was not the case. Called 4 other plumbing companies who quoted between $250 and $350 for the job. Moral of the story, shop around and WATCH out for these guys. They draw you in by their rapid response. “Payless” should be renamed as “Pay More - a LOT More!”

I called Payless from the tag on my mom’s water heater. She suffered a stroke two months ago and replacing the water heater was imperative. Luis B, the technician/plumber, inspected the water heater and gave me his recommendations and options. One was to repair what he thought was wrong, which required having the part send by priority and would take a day to get here. The second was replace the water heater. It was apparent I needed hot water for the family now. He showed me the different packages which started with “bandaid”, a two year warranty. It went from Silver - six year, Gold - nine years, to Platinum, which covered twelve years warranty. Each came with more safety features. I chose the one I felt prudent to the households needs. Though I felt the prices were high, the professional demeanor of Luis and his transparently, sold me and more importantly, was going to be finished today. They took care of the permit, which I didn’t have the time or patience to deal with the annoyance. The whole job from start — 12:00pm to finish 4:00pm., on the same day was a load off my mind. It was worth the cost considering my mother’s condition and the excellent work done. I have no qualms of telling friends and family of their service. I’m one very pleased customer.

We discovered dripping from the top vent pipe of our Bradford White water heater. We contacted Payless because they feature that brand of heaters. Jessica L. was able to get a tech scheduled to come over early the next morning (she said that she might be able to get someone out even sooner if it was an emergency). That morning, we got a call from dispatch confirming the approximate time and then a text from Luis B. informing us of the exact arrival time. Luis quickly evaluated the situation and, much to our pleasant surprise, told us that he only needed to change the TP value. The entire process took maybe 45 minutes and the cost was very reasonable. I greatly appreciated that I wasn't told that I had to get a new water heater. Thumbs up to Luis, Jessica and Payless.

Called Payless WH after my water heater started leaking and stopped working; Joel showed up in the appointment window and helped to understand the various prices of different water heater options. We initially installed Tankless WH which somehow didn't work due to lesser pressure in my gas pipes. Rather than spending more money in new piping, i just decided to go with the Tank option. Payless WH were kind to return back the difference and re-installed the Tank water heater. Joel was fast in getting the work done and knowledged enough to explain different settings in the new WH. Will definitely recommend Payless WH.

My hot water heater failed, so I called Payless Water Heaters. They scheduled a technician named Joel for the next day between noon and 2pm, he arrived right at noon. After confirming the unit needed replacement, Joel clearly explained my options. I expected a delay of maybe two or three days, but he made a few calls and had the new heater delivered and installed that same afternoon. Joel was courteous, answered all my questions, and left the area clean. I’m very impressed with the fast, professional service and highly recommend Joel and Payless Water Heaters.

I had a great experience with Payless Water Heaters for my water heater replacement. Tristan, the technician, did an excellent job with the installation and even beat the estimates I received from other companies. The entire team was very professional—Mike and Carolina were extremely helpful in setting up the appointment, following up after the work was done, and even sending Tristan back to realign some plumbing lines to make the setup look cleaner. I really appreciate the quality of work and customer service from start to finish. Highly recommend them!

I was in desperate need to repair Bradford White hydraulic water heater because tenant has been without hot water and heat for several days. My plumber needs several days to get the parts. So I called Payless with the model and serial number asking if they have the parts. They replied later saying yes. However, the technician called me from the house next day saying that they don't repair hydraulic heater when I gave them the model already. A waste of one valuable day despite my due diligence. Other than that everything was good.

Luis Barrera from the NorCal office was fantastic! He clearly explained every step of the repair process and took the time to educate me on how my water heater works, including how to relight the pilot if needed. Also explain the process of flushing the system and how it's it's good to do that to your water heater for maintenance. He was very friendly, courteous, and arrived right on time. I really appreciated his professionalism and willingness to make sure I understood everything. Highly recommend!

My tankless water heater failed after 20 years so I called Payless water heaters to come out and see if it could be repaired. Ultimately, I had to replace the unit. The surprise was that they came out within one hour of my call and replaced the unit. Five hours after discovering my old unit had failed, I had a new water heater. It doesn’t get any better than that.The worker was very professional and polite and did a great job. I would highly recommend Payless for any of your plumbing needs.

Luis B was awesome! After finding the issue he explained everything to my son and allowed us to decide what we wanted to do. We decided and he went right to work. When I came out to look he took the time to explain everything to me even though he had already explained to my son. When he was done he tested things with me. Showed me the settings and cleaned up his work area. Very professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. Great service! Great technician!

Joel did a very good water heater replacement including new copper water lines, a pressure expansion tank, water sensors in the overflow pan to automatically shut off the water supply should the tank ever leaks, and clear explanations along the way. I had chosen the top of the line option so the invoice was very pricey. But I wanted the best water tank and the best installation.

Joel H was great. Arrived early, did a quick assessment (~15 mins) explained the situation and answered my questions about our malfunctioning tankless water heater. Not only did he instill trust but he also put in an ethical bid which was $6k less than Jazz Plumbing. A+ and definitely calling them back in a year for maintenance.
