All I can say is Wow! I woke up to no hot water so called Plumbing Plus. Great reviews and now I understand why. He answered the phone right away, immediately walked me through removing the water filter at the bottom of my tankless heater. Cleaned and replace and all works! Wow - great save to another holiday weekend. Thank you!

Scott is skilled, honest, responsive and his prices are always more than fair. He's been a lifesaver in my journey of buying an older home with multiple plumbing issues, and I couldn't have gotten through the last few months without him.

Scott is a terrific communicator! Thoroughly discussed my issue with me on the phone so that I ultimately realized that I didn't really need a plumber! How many plumbers will do that?!! Even though he didn't perform any work for me I will call him without hesitation the next time I have an issue.

So disappointed! Came quickly, seemed like a nice guy. He fiddled with our toilet for a few minutes and thought he might have solved the problem (running by itself every 20 mins.) Charged us the minimum fee for coming out $140, but offered to come back if it still ran and not charge us the service fee, but just the cost of the new brand name part. Of course it still ran. I called and emailed that we needed him to come back. No answer. Waited a week and tried again. He said his VM had broken (but email too?) but agreed to come back and set a time. He told us the brand name part was very expensive. Oddly, his estimate of the cost of that part went up 3 times. He'd even written it on our receipt the first time! I knew he was padding, but I was going to pay it anyway to solve the problem and to help compensate him for a second trip. But he never bothered to come out, despite his written offer. After the no show and waiting a few weeks, we bought the part at Ace for $15. Sad to say, you can't trust this guy.

I am always perplexed with understanding why businesses do not return calls, respond in a timely manner, or leave a message giving a time frame when one should expect a return call. And it is not your thing to return calls, why not just say: "We are very busy at this time and may be unable to return the call." At least, prospective customers will know and not have any expectations. My advice to small businesses - you never know when the tides of fortune will change and you would have wished you had returned the call. Potential customers are not likely to forget your bad business manners and would not reach out to you again. And such was my experience with this company.

We used Scott for the third time today... and it was a great experience! Scott replaced our garbage disposal almost two years ago. I called him last week and told him that it was leaking but I didn't think it should be as it's less than two years old and I don't really use it all that often. He mentioned that it very well could be a loose connection and he would try to fit me in as soon as he could. I explained that while it was a nuisance that I couldn't use it, it was by no means an emergency so we scheduled him to come today, which was about 5 days after we spoke. Scott kept in touch with me all morning to let me know his arrival time estimate and then when he arrived he fairly quickly deduced that the connecting pipe going out of the disposal (and difficult to see) had come loose. He not only fixed the connection and then tested the disposal to make sure there was no leaking, but he also thoroughly cleaned all the pipes under my sink, the entire cabinet floor and the entire faucet above the sink too. He then explained that since this repair happened less than 2 years from the installation of the disposal, he was not charging me but if it happened again, we may need to discuss rearranging the pipes under the sink in which case he would have to charge me.... MORE than fair!! Scott is very personable and easy to work with. He is chatty, but he freely admits it and also assures you that you won't be charged for his love of talking. We've never felt that he over-charged us and have always eagerly appreciated his time and workmanship. He's busy and sometimes hard to nail down for an appointment but I see that also as a positive sign. I don't want to hire the plumber that nobody wants and is always available, right?? Call Scott at Plumbing Plus -- you will NOT regret it!

This guy made me cry. And in a good way. I woke up after midnight (thank GOD) to the sound of gushing water. When I realized what it was, I found Niagara Falls happening under my kitchen sink. After setting up a crazy scheme with a dustpan and a roasting pan to catch the water, I called Scott at 1AM after not getting a response from another handyman who I'd used before. He answered pretty quickly and tried to help me shut off the water to the house. He patiently directed me to the street (silly me, I had gone to the side of the house, where the gas & electrical is), and tried to help me shut off the water. There was just no way to do it. (When he arrived, he confirmed that the shutoff valve is broken--but, brilliantly, found a second shutoff just inside my garage.) He arrived by 2AM. Assessed the situation quickly, shut off the water, and set to replacing the burst flexible pipe thing under the sink. He went ahead and replaced both for me, after having to work with a pipe diameter he didn't expect (thank you, moronic previous homeowner!). At this point, I'm seeing dollar signs flash before my eyes. When he's all done, he sweetly apologizes for having to charge me for two hours. Please understand, he is NOT padding his bill with "emergency in the middle of the night" charges. Total? Under $200. Oh yeah: I'm DEFINITELY calling Scott for my next plumbing adventure. Which will hopefully NOT be an emergency involving water cascading onto my kitchen floor.

I usually don't spend the time to write reviews. But Scott deserves one from me. I dread looking for a contractor to help b/c I have had bad experiences. But Scott is now my *only* go-to person when something breaks in my properties. Though his company name is "plumbing," Scott can do any type of job for your home or office...and any size job. He does plumbing, remodeling a kitchen, etc. You can trust him! BIG PLUS! He makes sure that you understand the work and his plan to solve the problem. Scott did a number of projects for me, including my lawn control box and leaks, re-piping gas lines, redoing the pipes for my water heater when I bought my house (and probably saved my family's life because the old owner installed it himself and did a terrible job unbeknown to us), and replaced a water heater at another property. Once I complained about a stinky smell in my bathroom. I thought it was a leaking toilet. Scott came and asked me when I smell it and where I was at. I reflected and said I'd smelled often brushing my teeth. His first guess was that the smell was likely from mildew inside the sink or sink drain. And long and behold, the smell disappeared after we poured bleach down the sink and drain. He's amazing! Most other plumbing would fix the toilet. He saved us so much money over the years. He is an artist as well and takes pride in his work. He had to fix my water heater pipes, and they looked like a matrix.

After landing back home after a two-and-a-half week vacation abroad, we went to take a nice hot shower and found that the pipe had sprung a leak. We called several services until finding Scott at Plumbing Plus, and no one could give us immediate attention (many were booked up to 30 days) but Scott came through for us with a next-day appointment, and was able to work through a previous contractor's sloppy work to identify the problem, and come up with a solution to repair it. With one quick trip to the hardware store for a part, he immediately got to work and took care of fixing the repair within 4 hours' time. Since we rent our home, the owner of the place will definitely appreciate that we have found someone as knowledgeable and efficient as Scott, especially since it's highly likely that we will need to hire him back to do a bit more work to re-install the drain line if the building owner approves it. He even wrote out very detailed information about the previous contractor's improper installation and his recommendation to have the drain and overflow actually replaced in the near future to avoid further issues. As an added *plus* he has a great personality and is very easy to talk with. We are very grateful to have found his service, and happy to give a 5-star rating to Plumbing Plus! Thank you again, Scott!

Scott is GREAT! We have used him enough years to know his experience makes a difference. He can deal effectively with 90 year old gas and waterpipes as well as replace a leaking toilet with a new water- efficient one that also matched the other more elegant style bathroom features. We appreciate his booking appointments (sometimes weeks out - as he is in demand- yet, once you use him, you have your FOREVER PLUMBER ... you are willing to wait!) He finds a way to be there in a hurry with a genuine emergency! His update calls (on my way...or running 20 minutes late) are appreciated! But, chances are I would wait ...if I had to...as he has proven to be honest and respectful as well as SMART...able to figure out the best way to solve a complicated plumbing issue. Perhaps I am a "hard grader" but after several years of watching Scott perform as a true "PRO" in the field with genuine experience and "know how" - and on top of that he is a gentleman you are comfortable with- it is about time I give him rating...and he deserves all 5 stars! ***** SCOTT at PLUMBING PLUS deserves the highest recommendation. Scott is 100% made of awesome sauce. We were having a lot of trouble with our contractor during a tile shower installation/bathroom remodel, and Scott, as a subcontractor, shone like a star amongst the rubble. He was prompt and thorough on his first visit, came back at the drop of a hat when we changed our mind about the location of a shower arm, and when he found that not all the necessary parts were on hand he stepped out, got 'em, came back and finished up. In addition to which, he stabilized a pipe near the toilet that he noticed was shaky (and he wasn't there to work on the toilet; he did that gratis) and he made a functional improvement to our front gate on the way out (added a wire loop and waxed the latch so it would close more smoothly). He came back to do some finishing touches one morning and couldn't reach me at work, so he applied good common sense and finished before lunch; he left detailed instructions on how to make any final adjustments I might want to make myself, as well. Possibly the best contractor experience I have ever had in my entire life! If you need a plumber in the East Bay, hire this guy!

Scott Kuhne is hands down the best plumber I have ever used! He takes great pride in doing quality work and will stick with a project until it's done right. Scott takes great care to protect the work environment and clean up thoroughly when he is finished which I greatly appreciate. Having him in the house is a pleasure, because you can converse with him about almost anything. He is extremely knowledgeable, not just about plumbing, and I came away with some great tips for other issues around the house. He also explains exactly what he is doing. When he needed to go grab some extra parts at Ace, he gave me several options so I could make an informed decision and determine the price range. The other day our toilet made a lot of scary noises after flushing. I called Scott and he came over at 8:30 p.m. after a long, grueling day of work. Turns out that a substantial amount of air had gotten into the pipes in our cul-de-sac. Scott took care of it and didn't charge us a dime. I highly recommend Scott to anyone anytime!

Wow, what a terrific experience I had dealing with Scott. After having a new washer and dryer installed in my home on a Saturday, I developed a leak in each compression valve fitting. This was not the fault of the installer, rather it was caused by my messing with the fittings (32 years old, BTW) after they left. I tightened what I could but the leaks persisted. At any rate, I called several Alameda area plumbers and Scott was the only one who I could contact. He listened to my problem and although he said he was scheduling jobs towards the end of the following week, he kindly decided to give me one hour the following day (a Sunday)! The following day he arrived and was able to replace the compression fittings (which I had purchased at Home Depot) within the hour. Leaks were gone! Not only was he professional, he was very personable and likable, chatting with me through out the job. I will definitely hire him again should the need arise.

Scott Kuhne is our go-to plumber in Oakland - always courteous and professional, friendly, willing to take the time to discuss all aspect of the job, and clearly takes pride in his work. I can't recommend him highly enough. I first hired Scott to check on a loose toilet; he took a look and found that a previous remodel had left the flange so low that even standard extension kits were not doing the job. He found time the next morning to come back and replace the flange with a proper one for a very fair price. My next job with Scott was a pre-emptive replacement for a very old water heater: he took the time to talk through all the considerations of tank vs. tankless heaters, and was able to schedule the job a few weeks later, and despite some unanticipated complications finished the full job on time and honored his quoted price. I'll definitely be calling Scott for any future plumbing needs.

Our hot water heater was leaking and needed to be replaced ASAP. I was fortunate to be referred to Scott by another local plumber who could not take on a new client on short notice. After contacting Scott, he came to our home within hours to see assess our needs and prepare to order what was needed to do the work. He returned the next day with a new water heater and parts needed to complete the installation. He arrived 3 hours later than planned due a late delivery to his supplier. He then stayed until 7 PM to complete the work. A few days later, we used his skills to install new feeds to a bathroom sink which had low water pressure. Again, he was conscientious, courteous, and efficient in this project. To echo what others have said, Scott is a real pro, honest with fair rates and explains his work in an easy to understand manner.
