Mike’s Plumbing came through for our condo building when a major pipe burst in the basement, threatening to cause even more damage to the property. Mike and his team responded immediately, identified the issue, and fixed it quickly and efficiently. Their professionalism, speed, and attention to detail truly stood out. Thanks to their prompt work, the water was stopped before it could cause further damage. I highly recommend Mike’s Plumbing to anyone looking for a reliable, knowledgeable, and trustworthy plumbing company.
Mike came out on Saturday after I had an emergency sewage backup. He came out within an hour and worked all day to make the repairs. He is honest, patient, and a great plumber!
I can't recommend Mike highly enough! He was prompt, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable. He quickly diagnosed the issue and had everything fixed in no time, all while keeping things neat and tidy. Communication was great throughout the whole process, and the pricing was fair and transparent. It's such a relief to have a reliable plumber I can trust—I'll definitely be calling him again for any future plumbing needs!
I called Mike's Plumbing to unclog a drain pipe. The plumber showed up and determined there wasn't a clog in the pipe without even checking the actual pipe. He blamed the AC unit, saying it was pooling water due to a bad coil. I asked him if he could send a camera down the pipe just to be sure, but he insisted it was the AC unit. This ended up costing $165 for the visit and diagnosis. On Mike's Plumbing's advice, we called an AC tech, who came out and checked the unit. It wasn't pooling water and there wasn't anything wrong with it. Unlike Mike's Plumbing, he at least cut the pipe to check it, and water immediately began pouring out. The AC guy was not able to unclog the pipe and said we'd need a plumber. Charge for his visit was $89. We got a plumber from a different company (2 Plumbers) to come out since Mike's didn't do anything the first time but charge us nearly $200 for a misdiagnosis. 2 Plumbers determined the drain pipe was clogged. They used a riding machine to rod the pipe and open the line. Then they refit the pipe. I emailed Mike's to ask for a full or partial refund of the $165 for the initial visit since they misdiagnosed the issue. Radio silence. I emailed them again. Never got a response. By not checking the pipe at all and suggesting we needed an AC person, we were not only out $165, but then an additional $89 for an AC/heat tech who wasn't needed, then of course the second plumber visit. 2 Plumbers arrived and fixed the issue in half an hour. I understand people make mistakes, but this negative review for Mike's is due to the lack ANY kind of response from them when I emailed with my complaint.
I don't like leaving bad reviews, but I have to this time since Mike's never even bothered responding to the following: I called Mike's Plumbing to unclog a drain pipe. Left this review on Google but figured I'd drop it on Yelp as well.........Relatively new home owner here (we moved in August last year). Hadn't had any real plumbing issues yet in the house until about a week or 2 ago. Suddenly when we washed laundry the basement slop sink would back up a little and super slowly go down. Tried to plunge and rod it but didn't work permanently. Later, the dishwasher started causing the backup as well. Then, the shower, then, even flushing the toilet backed it up. Now the water was actually s*!t water brown at this point even saw toilet paper floating in it. Figured it it must for sure be the main line needed rodding after chatting with some folks and googling. So earlier today we call Roto-Rooter, about 4 hours later guy comes out, takes a look at the access we have outside to the main, then says he can't rod it, gotta wait until tomorrow. Now it's way later and we can't use any more water (brown water backup in basement sink if we do) can't shower etc... aaaaand back at square one. We called 3 more places to try and ask, get quotes, etc. One place guy wanted to charge $800. Another can't come out until tomorrow. Finally after almost giving up for the night we call Mike's. Super high reviews on Google! (4.8) BUUUUUUUT only 4 reviews we say.... Well we decided to give him a call, worth a shot we figured. Call after 10 PM on Sunday night. (Today as of this writing, 4/23/2017). He was out here by 1105PM. Opened up the access quick, ran in and ran all the water with me, noticed now the upstairs bathroom toilet and shower we're backing up instead of basement slop sink. (Reason was now slop sink was clogged secondarily cause of the backup of the s*!t water) he helped unclog that secondary one (AND a bit of the upstairs shower too) at no extra charge. About 20 minutes later if even, heard the huge slurp and saw the toilet backup shoot down the drain. Everything fixed like 20-30 minutes after arrival. Big ol rodder machine did the trick. Also explained a lot of the plumbing around the house. Went both ways with the rodder too from the access just in case. Ended up pulling out a lot of roots and stuff (I guess usually it's roots, supposed to get the main line rodded as a preventative maintenance item every 6mo to 2 years it sounds like) Total price was better than roto rooter as well. Friendly, professional. Plus, mentioned during the daytime and when not in a hurry like today as a preventative maintenance item it'd be even cheaper too. Will definitely be calling again if/when another bigger problem calls for a pro. Very happy we went with a good local place even tho he only had the 4 reviews, and I'm happy to be writing the 5th. If you need a pro, call Mike. And then leave some more good reviews!

Unfortunately, this businessman is very selective with his work and very expensive. After the first time he came out to my home which was for an emergency pipe repair in the middle of the night, I called him again to come to my home and give me an estimate and explanation for water collecting around the bottom of my toilet. One he was done inspecting and had told us how much he was going to charge, I told him that my husband and I would have to discuss the issue as his estimate was a lot of money and we were not prepared to make that kind of financial commitment at the time. A couple weeks later, my husband and I found ourselves in another emergency situation as our main sewer line had collapsed and was causing sewage water to back up into our bathtub. He answered the phone and responded that he could not help us at that time and was busy working on another project. I found another company, figured out a way to cover my expenses and did not press the issue. We again had other projects that we needed done after that so I reached out to Mike via text several times. He never had the decency to respond. This to me is extremely poor customer service and a man that is too greedy to take care of his customers. Shame. We had over $8000 worth of plumbing work done. Be cautious with this plumber as he does not take care of his customers.
At 5:30 am my neighbor called me to tell me that water was gushing out of my garage. Sure enough, a pipe had burst and was gushing water like a fire hydrant directly onto a wall full electrical wires and electrical panel. My husband was out of town and I had no idea how to turn off the water to our building (4 Unit Condo, plus Coach house). In a panic, I googled "emergency plumber" and Mike's Plumbing was at the top of the search, so I called him. Mike answered immediately, and was on the scene within 20 minutes. He was friendly, professional, told me how much the repair would cost and fixed the pipe quickly. By 8:30 a.m., the issue was resolved and I was on my way to work. Later that evening one of my neighbors who lives in the coach house did not have running water. So at 11:30 p.m., on that very same day that I called again and Mike answered immediately. He walked me through how to resolve the issue over the phone. He then called me back around midnight to make sure everything was OK and offered some advice on how to ensure my pipe won't burst again. I feel very lucky that my google search led me to Mike's Plumbing. I give him the highest recommendation and will call him for all of our future plumbing needs. Thank you Mike!
Mikes Plumbing Company is wonderful! Professional, honest , prompt, reliable, with great prices. Woke up last Saturday morning to find water all over the hard wood floor of my condo. It was pouring out from under my kitchen sink. Called the condo management and asked if they could give me a plumber they used. Called the plumbing company telling them it was an emergency, and they never even called me back. I then got Mikes Plumbing Company from someone else. When I called, Mike personally answered the phone and when I told him it was an emergency he came over immediately. I was amazed by how fast he got there! He assessed the situation and completely turned the water off. He then went out and bought a new faucet so he could fix the leak. I was so impressed by how kind he was. I was a basket case and he reassured me that everything would be fine. His kindness, caring and professionalism were outstanding! He did a great job and even cleaned everything up! Mikes's Plumbing company is amazing! I can't say enough good things about this company. I will always use them in the future.
While fixing a sink ourselves, our main water valve got stuck in the off position on a Saturday. (The knob would turn but it wouldn't open the valve and release water into our house.) Mike first tried to troubleshoot for us over the phone for free, and even offered to video chat to walk us through the fix ourselves. We were nervous we'd break the valve ourselves and end up with a mess, so we braced ourselves to wait until Monday (with no water) for his team to come out. A couple hours later he called me back and said he could fix it for me today, on a Saturday evening. He came in, found that the repair was even easier than he anticipated, and only asked for a fraction of what he quoted us. He came through for us in an emergency on a Saturday, did honest work, and requested an honest price. We're so lucky we found him and are saving his number for future needs. Thank you, Mike!!!
At midnight last night I dropped by to check on the house I just bought to find that it had not been winterized and the water pipes had frozen and once thawed, one had burst. Cold water was cascading down the wall and, through the floor boards into my basement. The valve that controls the main from the street was rusted in place and would not turn to shut off the water flow. After foolishly waiting hours for the city of Chicago to come turn off the water main, I called Mike. It was 0330 in the morning. Mike answered his phone and was on site in 35 minutes. He cut the water line and inserted a new length of pipe and shut off valve. Problem solved. He told me immediately what the repair would cost and worked quickly to make the repair. He is a very friendly man and he got me out of a huge jam in the middle of the night. Thanks Mike.
The service that Mike offers is top notch. There was an emergency plumbing work that I needed to get done immediately. Reaching out to Mike was the best thing that could have happened. He understood the urgency, was polite, professional, and a solution oriented person. I had called another Chicago plumbing service before reaching out to Mike, and that other service gave me mixed messages of being able to do the job but ended up not being able to show up. This gave me a service to compare Mike's business with. Mike and his services are dependable, reliable and timely. He earned my trust with his quality service and impressively was able to finish the job that night. Mike is a person of his words, fixed the root of the problem with ease, and saved lots of headaches. I definitely would use his expertise again. Thank you!
This guy was amazing. My husband and I woke up to a broken toilet. We had noticed it working worse and worse over the past few months, but this morning it stopped working and we have people coming over at noon. At 9:48 I googles "emergency plumber chicago" and called. Mike said he's be here in 30 minutes. Within 20 minutes he had arrived here. So reliable. Then, we found out it wasn't a small plumbing issue but rather we needed to replace a part. He had the part in his truck, grabbed in and within 15 minutes, our toilet was working like new. So, it's now less than an hour since we called Mike and our toilet is in great shape. He was nice, fast, and got the job done. Can't say enough positive things about him. Definitely have Mike come if you have an emergency or if you just need some plumbing fixed.
Mike came out on a Sunday for a clogged sink. We thought it was just from putting peels down the garbage disposal. Turns out our 1946 Georgian had very old pipes with grease and gunk filling them almost entirely. Suffice it to say, the job was a Pandora's box and we felt apologetic that it turned into such a mess. But he was so cheerful and insisted on staying the next 7 hours! To finish the job! He didn't even raise the price, but stuck to his original quote. Which was an incredible deal for all the labor and what he accomplished. Even prying off those old lead pipes was nearly impossible. But he kept at it. He also found the configuration to be too many turns and simplified it with the new pipe he installed. It goes straight down. What a concept!
